I've just spent about 10 days at Daku and am happy to recommend it to others. It's reasonably priced, the staff are great and the location is perfect. It's located 2 kms out of SavuSavu town so there's privacy and it's quiet. It's not the kind of resort that makes you feel as though you need to dress up and look the part, it's the kind of resort that feels comfy and homely. There's a yoga platform with a wonderful view, they have all the main props that a yogi or yogini might like to use and it's free!

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a view and some of the bures don't have one.

Daku is like the old Fiji; full of character, charm, and staffed by people who can't do enough for you. Much of the accommodation has stunning views, and is clean and comfortable. Well set up for groups who might want to self-cater. The resort is well located to the town of Savu Savu - you can walk there in 20 minutes - where there is a good range of food shopping and restaurants. If you're there for long enough, Daku might put on a lovo. Don't miss it. An all round great experience and I hope to come back in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: The villa has outstanding views and a huge deck. Great if you're part of a large group and want...

We stayed at Daku Resort for 7 nights. What a pleasurable experience, great staff, friendly helpful and what a great setting. Vintage setting at vintage prices sums it up well. We are looking forward to going back Chris Ward.

Room Tip: Try for the older Villa, great verandah and very roomy.

We stayed at Daku for a week in June and loved it. If you like to get away from everything on holiday, you'll love it here. The bure (no5) was exactly what you need and a little further away from the main building so we never had interruptions from other guests. In fact, it seemed we had the whole place to ourselves most of the time as most other guests were on a painting retreat which left the pool empty. It's a lovely resort set in gorgeous gardens and I did make use of the open yoga deck over looking the ocean. Yes wifi does drop out now and again, but that's the whole island. If you can't live without being connected, don't visit a tropical island. Nothing was too much trouble for Raj and the team who always had a smile. Daku is only a 2 minute taxi ride into SavuSavu town where you can visit the local market and find some great little eateries. The fish everywhere we ate was fantastic. Daku organised a 6 dive package for us with Jean Michel Cousteau (see separate review) which made life very easy. I would definitely recommend Daku and will be back.

We stayed here for Fiji Bird week and enjoyed it. The owners were in residence for the first half of our stay so all was great. The owners especially Delia were very attentive and made sure we were happy with everything including our activities. Once they left things did change a bit - staff were more engaged in Facebook than with the customers, even bustling us out of the bar area very early one night. The staff were friendly but somewhat dis-engaged once Delia and JJ left. We had a bure and it was very nice, a good outdoor area to sit and relax. The location is good and Savusavu remains pretty untouched.

Room Tip: If you want a quieter area request a bure that is not near the dining area. Early starters can be a...

An hours ride from nadi arriving into savusavu airport was just terrible as there was no one waiting at the airport and Ihad to sit and wait for about 20 minutes to get a taxi to the resort as I was told there will be transport waiting.(maybe it is the manager that i was talking while booking).Arriving @ the resort was welcoming as i was offered a green coconut by the two pretty ladies @ the reception.i was explained everything.Great lunch was served..yummy chicken quiche and salad
My biggest problem was the WIFI,internet was down everyday. Whenever I did ask about whom to see regarding internet, it was the resort manager who was always out of property. he reckons he will be in 15 minutes but this 15 mins was like two days I got to checkout into another hotel. I assume whoever the resort manager was, was always out doing his own business who wasn't even able to be contacted via his cell.Kenny was very active during super.massage was great..great..great done by calo.Calo u rock.......Kitchen ladies were great and i really reccomend the front office staff in running of the resort.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Daku Resort in Savusavu for a few days whilst traveling in Fiji. Its fair to say the stay was unlike any other part of the trip or any other hotel stay I have had. The thing that stands out about Daku is the close welcome atmosphere nurtured by the resort owners, staff and other residents.

Savusavu is a significant port on Vanua Levu so has a large yacht club, a number of diving areas, tropical rain forest for bird watching and the really impressive flora tropica gardens. Having a relatively busy town there is also the opportunity to shop and eat in a more representative high street than the normal hotel resort area.

Photos of the Daku resort only tell half the story of your stay there. The rooms are clean, near the bay and within an easy walk of the town but the thing that really stands out is the close atmosphere. Having travelled a fair bit around Europe I have never before been at a holiday resort where the owners (JJ and Delia), other guests and locals eat together around one main table and have the opportunity to exchange opinions and advice about the highlights of the area. Its fair to say I really enjoyed the opportunity to discuss my own travel experiences and take the advice of all the others during these couple of hours with a beer at the dinner table whilst eating excellent food.

JJ and Delia are excellent hosts of these evening with interesting stories and experiences to share and these bring out the stories of everyone else at the table (topics of conversation on the nights I was there included a tale of sixties London gang life from the nephew of a bare knuckle fighter, bird watching across the pacific from an Australian couple, gigs people had been too from Dolly Parton to Iron Maiden and as mentioned the wonders of travel.

The other reason Daku gets an excellent review from me is for really getting me out of trouble when my internal flight back to Nadi was cancelled. JJ having offered to give me a lift to the airport (first time a hotel owner has offered this level of service to me) was of great help when I got to the airport and was told the flight was cancelled and the next flight would mean I would miss my connection to Hong Kong. The excellent problem solving of the air traffic control / ground crew at Savusavu airport with little help from the carrier managed to get the three passengers on a flight back to Nadi by diverting a flight from Laucala which was already in the air. I am sure this was largely due to the influencing skills of JJ and Bill from the Namale Resort thus saving my holiday plans.

So overall a great thank you to all (staff, guests and visitors) for a wonderful stay at Daku.
