JJ and Delia are the owners and hosts of this peaceful resort in Fiji, and made us feel like part of their family immediately, welcoming us with a serenade and a local drink in a coconut shell. When the dinner bell rang, we knew we in for a treat of good food and fascinating conversations with our new friends from around the world. At the resort you can enjoy yoga, stargazing, hiking, snorkeling or just relaxing by the pool. When you are ready for more action, the friendly staff will expertly arrange excursions to the town, world class diving or a local village. What more could you ask for?

We stayed for 5 nights with our 3 adult aged children
July 18 - 23rd. So wish it ciuld have been longer.
JJ, Daku's owner, met us at the Savusavu airport and right from the start it felt like we were staying as extended family. The Daku Family takes you straight to it's heart and if you return that love & respect you won't reget it. We miss you all so much. Kenni's beautiful family, Merioni, "Gorgeous George", John & cute baby
brother. Raj and Joshika. Kalo and his family.
Sorry if I've forgotten any names.
Daku call themselves "Upscale Budget" but it's so much more than that.
Everything is clean and tidy. Housekeeping was daily and never missed once. The fresh flowers were lovely.
The resort grounds, gardens and pool all immaculate.
The food wholesome home cooking. My daughter and I have food intolerances and were well catered for.
Cooked breakfast if you wanted along with choices of cereals and fruits, fresh coffee and tea.
Light lunches were available and dinner was a set menu served at a long table. The menus changed daily.
All freshly prepared and delicious.
It was really very nice to sit at the long table and get to know some of the other guests.
We were fortunate enough to book the villa, which was really comfortable, and the views are gob smacking.
Especially the sunsets.
Raj is a great manager and ably assisted by his lovely wife Joshika. Kenni is a wonderful guy, Maitre'D and in management too, nothing was ever too much trouble.
Kalo is an excellent massage therapist and you won't complain about the price either! $60Fj/Hr!
Petay is a great boatman and we felt really safe when we went snorkling.
Going to Vanua Levu, Savusavu...? Then do stay at Daku. You will be supporting local families.
You will love it.
We're hoping to return one day...
For Kenni and the crew...
"NOW IS THE HOUR WHEN WE MUST SAY GOODBYE,
SOON WE'LL BE FLYING FAR ACROSS THE SEA,
WHILE WE'RE APART O, PLEASE REMEMBER ME,
WHEN WE RETURN, HOPE TO FIND YOU WAITING THERE."XOX

I loved the homely environment, the vintage style, the food, the staff, the owners, the yoga, the views, the nearby J Hunter pearl shop, the diving, the way I was so well taken care of. A memorable stay with wonderful people all around.

Daku is the place to stay when visiting Savusavu. Not ostentatious....very clean....owner, JJ caters to guests. Always extremely cheerful and approachable. More Fijian than high end resorts.

This is our third stay at Daku and I note there has been an upgrade of the facilities and an updated menu. The Fijian Dollar at F$180 for $100 Australian makes Fiji a good value destination. The staff continue to be a strong positive for Daku with them all remembering you from previous visits and make you feel part of the family.

I travel a great deal but usually prefer to stay at the high end hotels but Daku resort turned ou to be a gem. The rooms are simple and unpretentious but the many small touches like fresh flowers placed in the room every day made it seem luxurious. The staff are wonderful and I would especially single out Kenny who extends his Fijian way of life to all the guests who he refers to as 'family'. A perfect place to chill out and meet new friends.

Room Tip: Tell JJ you went to Cambridge !

Friends and I recently escaped to the warm and friendly Daku Resort. Upon arrival you don't check in but rather you are are made to feel as though you are being welcomed into a caring extended family. This unique resort has great charm and soul. The staff were always helpful and attentive without being claustrophobic. They can sing too!!!
While our stay of five days was too short our minds instantly relaxed while our bodies were pleasingly challenged by many different activities including fabulous snorkelling, kayaking, long walks, swimming and even yoga which took place in one of the most beautiful settings one could imagine. While staying there we also enjoyed the company of a great mix of guests from all over the world. Really fun and interesting. I shall definitely be going back and I might just take my husband too!

Room Tip: We stayed in a Bayview Villa which was a little further removed from the main bure, had a fabulous v...
