We had such an incredible trip, I had to put together a video to remember our holiday at Korovesi! Check it out on my youtube channel. (I can't post external links).
YouTube Name: dignan88 - Video Title: Korovesi Villa 2017
Our group of 11, which was comprised of 3 families, 6 adults and 5 children (aged 9 mos to 8 yrs), set off with excitement to finally stay at Korovesi Villa after nearly 3 years of trying to find a schedule that worked for all of us. With 2 solid weeks of school holidays locked in, we escaped the chill of Wellington winter for Fiji warmth and relaxation.
We all looked forward to renting this beautiful house, and had heard about the wonderful staff that helps out at Korovesi. But what we found blew us all away, day in and day out. Of course the villa and location are second to none, but the experience that Mahesh, Monica, Captain Jack, and the family at Korovessi provide is what elevates this experience above and beyond anything you will find elsewhere. I hesitate to use the word "staff" or "team" because they all become your family while there, and you feel you are being hosted by a wonderful family into their home, their culture, and their lives.
Of course you have your space, freedom, and privacy as needed and required, but the generosity, care, and attention, as well as the inclusiveness and warmth that the Korovesi Family offers is something I have only ever experienced when going to a close friend's or family member's home.
And that is what you will find here - a short term family. But I suspect your bonds like ours, both with your travel group and with the folks at Korovesi, will last much longer than your stay. We already consider Mahesh, Monica everyone else at Korovesi as friends and will surely remain in touch.
Of course I can list of the wonderful experiences and activities as others have, and none should be overlooked. Mahesh will help organize anything needed with incredible ease. From fishing (every catch was the biggest fish any of us have ever caught, and you will catch a lot, that is if you listen to Captain Jack: the fishing secret weapon), to snorkeling, boat tours (Rent the boat for your whole stay - trust us!), waterfall frolicking, beach and island visits, or just lounging round the pool, and making cocktails with Mahesh and Monica, the itinerary is full and thoroughly enjoyable
Wow. The home, the location, the owner, the staff are all just beyond wonderful. We were looking for a beautiful destination that wasn't too bad a journey from San Francisco and would be an extraordinary place to take our entire family including: triplet four year olds', nanny who believes "safety first", 75 year old mother, husband who wants to live like a local and a wife who has high expectations (okay, that's me!) Korovesi surpassed all expectations that any of us may have had. The Villa was stunning. Mahesh, Monica and the entire staff made our whole crew feel welcomed and well taken care of. They could not have been kinder or more lovely to our family nor could they have been better hosts' and ambassadors for Savusavu. One of the best vacations ever!
No photos, videos or words can do Korovesi the justice it deserves. From our communication with Gavin to the beautiful team lead by Mahesh and Monica, our stay could not have been more perfect. We loved everything about Korovesi and the wonderful people who made it so memorable. We highly recommend hiring the boat. The snorkelling and fishing were fantastic and Jack was the perfect captain (not to mention his humourous and informative Kava ceremony). Monica and Mahesh were not only beautiful chefs and managers, but also beautiful people (I have never tasted Indian food so good). The Villa itself is perfectly designed for finding your own space and activity, but equally perfect to bring everyone together. An amazing holiday destination made even more amazing by everyone and everything at Korovesi.
Our stay at Korovesi Villas would be our fourth time in Fiji. On my first trip with my wife (pre-kids), we had an adventurous kayak trip around the remote islands down south where we fell in love with Fiji (not kid friendly). Since our last two visits we thought we would never have that real Fijian feeling again because of the addition of our young children and the venues needing to be kid friendly... but we are ecstatic to have found the true Fijian vacation again at Korovesi.
Korovesi is like having local Fijian friends putting you up in a private luxury house. The Fijian friends being the staff, hosting and taking care of you. Mahesh, Monica and staff have been so welcoming and at times it was like being part of their extended family, and them showing us the best of Savu Savu's local delights and fantastic destinations.
Morning boat fishing with Captain Jack was a highlight of my trip and there was not a single day that Jack didn't steer us right. We brought back good size fish to eat every outing. The fish we caught was served to us in a variety of dishes with the mackerel being our favourite for the mackerel Kokoda (Fijian ceviche).
The kids absolutely loved the staff, and even called them friends. The pool was also a huge hit and at times very difficult to get them to do anything else. Our boat trips to "Split rock" with the wall of tropical fish is a definite highlight for them as they learned how to snorkel and free dive with the beautiful fishes.
I could not have asked for a better family trip. Although our eldest child was full of tears when the trip was over, as she felt she was losing her Korovesi friends.
Our group of three families spent two weeks with Monica, Mahesh, and their team at Korovesi Villa.
This is the way to visit Fiji! We were so well looked after, free to while away our days with fishing, swimming, snorkelling, and enjoying the villa. Our kids absolutely thrived there. We couldn't get enough of the amazing meals, which often included our freshly caught tuna or mackerel. Kokoda made with Spanish Mackerel was a highlight, followed closely by everything else! We loved the Fijian Indian dishes, and ended up overeating constantly... just too good.
The use of the boat was a very worthwhile addition, a snorkelling trip to nearby split rock was a highlight for most of us. Our kids had their introduction to snorkelling there, and I doubt they'll ever forget it.... a perfect day.
Our two weeks just glided by effortlessly, and I hope we can recreate the magic of this trip in the future. Do yourself a favour and opt for Korovesi Villa over the resort experience. So much better!
The villa and grounds are absolutely stunning. We traveled quite a long time and were greeted warmly by the team at Korovesi who take great pride in caring for the place and providing incredible hospitality and creative, fun itinerary for guests. The food was thoughtfully prepared (like everything else), and delicious. Mahesh, Monica and the team made us feel like family. We went diving at Jean-Michel Cousteaus dive center, on excursions with Captain Jack, feasted on fresh caught fish, got massages, and got to learn what locals know. We were so impressed by their genuine authenticity and graciousness.
The villa and surrounding land was beautiful, each room super comfortable and pretty, perfect for a serene afternoon, yoga in the am and swimming, walk amongst the grounds, snorkeling, dining etc.
The only negative is we had to leave :))
I would recommend this highly and trust in that all will be amazing with this incredible team at Korovesi.
WOW! I can't thank the staff here enough... the entire team led by Mahesh and Monica went above and beyond to make sure we all had an unforgettable experience. There wasn't one thing missing... every meal, boat ride, activity, was very well thought out and taken care of. I felt like I didn't have to raise a finger the entire trip. The location is amazing, just a short 2 minute boat or car ride to the Jean Michel Custeau Dive Resort, and an incredible ocean view. The house is beautiful, and I will miss waking up every morning and having coffee overlooking Savusavu bay. Thanks again guys!
