We spent a week here with a nine year old, 5 year old and a one year old. We felt relaxed immediately. The food was fabulous and care given to the children was great. The bures were very basic, all of us in the one room which was disappointing however we didn't spend much time in it so it didn't matter in the end. The nannies were lovely though one made it pretty clear that she expected an extra gift going so far to tell me when to give it to her so the management wouldn't find out. The biggest disappointment though was having money and two pairs of earrings taken from our room. We were pretty slack with security so blamed ourselves but we have stayed at a lot of hotels of lots of different ratings and this has never happen before. Such a shame because I would like to make it a regular holiday destination but that really changed our minds.

Just come back from a week at Jean Michel Cousteau Resort. We went with two 12 year old girls. Straight up, the journey getting there is a bit of a trek but very much worth it when you get there. How often do you go to a place where nothing is too much trouble and the kids are so busy that you rarely see them except for lunch and dinner perhaps. And how often do you leave knowing the names of many of the staff. You feel like you are leaving friends when you go not just leaving a place you have stayed at. Yes the drinks are not cheap but thats about all I can pick on. The cocktails are wonderful (thanks Gabby, Watisoni, Saimone and Manoj), Rico, I loved your smile and your wonderful service. Every lunch and dinner is serenaded, lanterns are laid around the forecourt each night and the food is fresh and creative every day. Wonderful. Mark the Manager is welcoming and always available to assist and the nannies and Fijian Buddies are caring and helpful. Leba was a lovely young woman who was always there when the girls were not doing other organised activities such as diving. Geoff, the fantastic scuba teacher, (assisted by Tesman and William) patiently took everyone through to thier first certification. And it wasnt that expensive. The lovely friendly restaurant staff attended to the guests with an efficiency that I wish existed back in Australia(thanks Ashni, Naomi,Maite, Mere and Wara). Thanks also to Pete who is not only a wonderful singer and guitarist but also made sure everyone was aware of the wonderful activities that were on offer each day such as the market day and the village trip. Both worth doing. We will be back!

Pros: Friendly staff, exceptional service. Meals 5 star and of great variety for adults and children. Common areas are well kept and lots of activities to keep guests occupied (for those who want to do more than just lounge around). Kids club well run. Bure was spacious.

Cons: bures too basic, certainly not of 5 star standard. On a few occasions, the doors were not locked after servicing. Most hammocks are a bit too dirty to lie on. Spa services were ordinary.

Overall good value but would be better if the rooms are upgraded.

We have just returned from our first trip to paradise. Everything was exceptional – the food, service, accommodation, activities, atmosphere etc. The managers and staff are fantastic. The kids club is like no other you will ever experience. In the morning our eight-year-old daughter’s buddy would arrive at breakfast and ask her what she wanted to do – “kayak to an island, snorkelling, fishing, playing on the waterslide?” the list goes on... She had the time of her life, and hid when it came time to leave. I read people cry when they leave, and I understand why. Yes, you may hear a child crying occasionally, but you are more likely to hear their squeals of laughter, birds, gentle waves, the ocean breeze rustling through the palm trees, and beautiful harmonies from the Bula Boys band. We spoke to guests without children and they also said it was the most amazing place they have ever been. We swam under a waterfall in a rainforest, saw coloured coral and a turtle when snorkelling, walked along a deserted beach to the local village where we were greeted by an employee from the resort on his day off, who then insisted on showing us around. I feel like we have joined a secret club of people in the know. Yes it is expensive – yes it is worth it. Unfortunately the hotel reconfirmed our flight bookings the night before we left without us knowing...we were hoping to miss the flight! Be warned, you won’t want to leave.

The best thing about this resort is the staff, they are so friendly and helpful. Also the food, it is great fresh local sourced produce. The kids meals were fantastic, they ate real meals for once rather than deep fried junk. The problem is that it is too far and the planes are unreliable. We didn't find out until 7pm that our flight home the next morning had been canceled and that we had to get up at 5am for a 2 hour drive to Labasa airport.

The Pacific Sun plane that we flew into Savusavu upon had broken down and couldn't fly back to Savusavu airport. The manager failed to tell us we would be taking two domestic flights just to get to Nadi, we were told that we would have a breakfast of packed fruit and some cakes but all they gave us was a pack of muffins and some cookies. Not much for 2 adults and 2 children and quite disapointing after what they charge. We were packed up and moved along.

My husband and I stayed 8 days at this resort. The garden is perfect, room is nice, people were friendly, but service was poor and very relaxed. This resort is not adapt for couples or for people who are looking for relaxing and peaceful holidays.
The price you pay is too high for what they give to you also compared to other deluxe resort in Fiji, This is a family resort ideal for families, you can hear the children crying around all the day, evening and night time hours. So if you are a light sleeper, forget to sleep. Also if you dream a peaceful holidays, look for one other place.

Room Tip: ask for room far from reception. we stayed in room 1 and there was a lot of noise in early morning a...

2nd time in 12 months! We arrived and all the staff welcomed us back. They took us fishing, snorkelling and sailing (all incl). We went to a private island, and had dinner on the end of the pier. The kids (3 & 4) had teh best time, and the most fun nannies. The only time they cried was when they had to leave (which is understandable as we wanted to cry too). Delicious food for adults and kids (warning - adults put on lots of weight. It is light food but it is deliscious and teher is lots!). Great snorkelling (saw lots of sharks and turtles). Special thanks to Pete, Jope, Chris and Simone (the barman over whom I think my husband nearly cried when we left!!!) and extra special thanks to Titi and Dimere from the boys (and us). Hope to see you all soon!
