“Well worth the effort”
Reviewed March 7, 2013

My wife & I decided to travel to beautiful Fiji to celebrate my 70th birthday . We were initially unsure about having to fly 40 mins from Nadi , then an hour in a van, before arriving at the wharf for the 5 min. trip to the Island. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT.
The welcome on the beach was genuine & generous.Formalities quickly over with , we settled into a lobster salad for lunch & the mornings trip was quickly forgotten !!
Without going into fine details , the whole Resort was fantastic, from the ever friendly & smiling staff , the everchanging food each day , the beach & snorkelling . The Bures were roomy & comfortable , with plenty of fans for cooling .Don't expect marble bathrooms or 6 star "wine lists" , this is not what Nukubati is about.
During our week there we met various (much younger ) couples , mostly on honeymoon. We really also enjoyed chatting with Gordon of an evening & learning a little of the history of the Island & Resort.
It is probably not the place for couples who want to be on the go constantly, though water sports are available, subject to tides. Fishing ( at $US extra ) is plentiful.
All in all , for a quiet , relaxing holiday in a superb location , Nukubati takes some beating.

My husband and I spent the second leg of our honeymoon here after attending the Superbowl in New Orleans. Firstly, for Americans, this place is quite QUITE far. We took a flight from New Orleans, to LAX, where we took an international flight to Nadi, Fiji. From there, we took a local one-hour flight to Lombasa, where we were driven to the opposite end of the island, where we then took a jetty (speedboat) to the private island resort. All this took us about 20 hours in total, so we were understandably exhausted! All this, however disappeared in the first hour after reaching Nukubati. The people greeted us there on the beach with flowers and songs, each and every person working there knew our names and that we just got married. They knew we were vegetarians and had the appropriate gourmet food available for us every day! Free drinks, free couples massages, free activities like the traditional BBQ, snorkeling, kayaking, catamaraning, a private picnic on the beach on your OWN private island for 4 hours, it just went from one great wonder to the next. I HIGHLY recommend this place, it was wonderful and truly utopian. (The only thing I wish they had was AC. If that's a problem for you, you won't love it here)

Room Tip: Ask if there are any Bures (cottages) with ACs, and definitely bring mosquito repellenant

Perfection is an understatement for this place. We had our honeymoon on Nukubati Island and we couln't have dreamt for a better place. The island is very remote and quiet. Such a peaceful and beautiful place. The staff here were amazing. They were very friendly and we were looked after very well. The food was extraordinary, very special food prepared with alot of care. For us it was the best food we ever had. I am vegetarian and they prepared food especially for me and made sure I was happy and enjoyed the food. The rooms were very clean and the service was excellent. You can do all sorts of activities on the island and the staff are always there to help you and guide you. We had a great time and met some wonderful people. It was an experience of a lifetime.

What a wonderful and magical place to relax it truly is heaven on earth. It is really hard to find the words to describe this paradise, the best way is to visit and experience everything for yourself, this was our third trip and looking forward to our next one. Jenny, Gordon and all the staff are such a joy to be around and it is very hard to leave we miss you all so much and miss all the laughs. Can't wait to see you all again soon. We are (reluctantly) home after 7 nights at Nukubati. What a joy! My husband & I met in Fiji 27 years ago; this was our first return trip without children (they are 21 & 23 now), and we couldn't have chosen a better location.
This is the place to go to be treated like royalty.....nothing is too much to ask. We felt part of the family from the moment we arrived to singing and welcoming faces at the beach, and relectantly farwelled Jenny & Tina on the same beach at 5am (where else would bring breakfast to your room at 4:30 and send you off with a delicious chicken sandwich and bottled water for the transfer journey?)
We'll return.
A few tips: do go snorkelling out on the Great Sea Reef - the fish there have to be seen to be believed. An underwater camera would be invaluble; its my one regret of the holiday that I didn't have one to record the sights there. Also, do try and work a sand bar picnic into the agenda while you are there. That is a magical experience I will never forget.
There was a great mix of couples there, from honeymooners to retirees, but all got along famously.
Staff were the best I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

Just like all the other reviewers, my husband and I found the resort to be an absolute gem. The secluded island really is a wonderful place to go for the honeymoon.

We stayed there for 5 nights and were spoiled rotten by everyone. The service was impeccable and we now truly understand the meaning of the warm Fijian hospitality that everyone praises. We immediately felt like we were part of the bigger family. The only regret we have is leaving the resort.

For those sea explorers: go to the reef for a dive or snorkel. We saw so much more colour and more species there than we did at the Great Barrier Reef. The only downside is that we didn't bring an underwater camera, which is an absolute must for this trip. Dolphins will actually swim close to the boat (we missed that one unefortunately)!

All in all, we had the best experience at this resort.

We've just returned from 5 days at Nukubati. It was truly the best holiday I've ever experienced. Each morning we stand-up paddled or kayaked around the island, then swam from the boats in the channel. Then breakfast, sailing or snorkelling, a walk, lunch, another swim, lots of reading.

We loved the BBQ feast, the snorkelling, the staff who all called us by name from the first moment we arrived, the peace and beauty, the volleyball games with staff. Jamie got to go spear fishing with the boys ... the highlight for him. Sunset drinks on the sandbar was my favorite.

The food was healthy and delicious, we had cocktails galore, and the extra services (laundry, multiple room cleans, massages etc.) added a touch of luxury.

We choose to be quite social and had several meals with other couples. The guests were all successful, interesting people so we had some great conversations.

And to top it off, we were lucky enough to have beautiful weather!
