As an earlier review has mentioned - The honeymoon is a strange holiday in so far as it is probably one of the most expensive you will have and one that you really want everything to be as perfect as possible. All in all Taveuni Island Resort did not let us down!

The resort itself is stunning, with an amazing cliff top location with spectacular views out over the sea. Anywhere that you can sit having breakfast whilst watching a pod of dolphins cruise past is pretty special. It has a very intimate feel due to there only being a small number of Bures. The bures are fantastic; Modern fused with traditional gives a very elegant feel to them and they are super comfy whther inside or out on your deck.

The staff are incredibly cheerful and helpful and really make you feel welcome. The food is something else...absolutely amazing so be prepared to come back feeling that you've put on a few extra kilos - 3 course for lunch and dinner everyday will do that to you.

One thing to be aware of is that this is not a beach holiday as such,
in that there are not the picture postcard white sandy beaches sloping gently into turqoise sea framed by palm trees. There are the palm trees and turqoise seas but the beach is not up to much. Being real beach people we honestly didn't miss it too much. This was probably because we did a lot of diving (Tyrone comes highly recommended if you want to dive) and the pool is so nice.

Another slight issue we had was the price of the activities/ excursions on offer. I don't regret doing any of them and would definitely recommend anyone to do them however I think the prices could be made a bit more realistic. I know that tourism is a fickle industry and you have to make your money anyway you can but this was one area could be reviewed. An example being that you pay over F$100 for a coastal walk which includes a packed lunch. Now we've already paid for lunch as all meals are included so basically you are paying over $100 for a 50 minute minibus ride - is gas really that expensive?

Anyway that is a minor gripe that shouldn't overshadow the positive experience that is a stay at this idyllic place.

Honeymoon expectations can be overwhelming when considering the cost spent on the trip. This is the one trip of our lifetime that we spared no expense.....although Taveuni is considered a 4 star I am so glad that we decided to stay there. The place was beautiful, I mean you cannot get views like this anywhere....every morning we ate breakfast over looking the ocean.....it was a spectacular sight. All the tables in the resort have the same view so no worries. There is not much of a beach to walk on, but the activities are extensive especially the Scuba diving. I never missed beach, not even once. My husband and I took a walk on the road next to the resort and witnessed real Fijian life...highly recommemded and very humbling. The resort had great food all times of the day and they accomadated private picnics and dinners. The staff was superb....I would go back for an anniversary as long as the management stays the same. If you are thinking about a 5 star.........this resort has everything and more at 4 star prices. We were absolutely delighted with service and price.

We booked a one week honeymoon online and went to Taveuni Island Resort in June of this past year. It was an absolutely incredible experience. What you see in the pictures is only the beginning of the great experience. The staff was amazing in terms of their hospitality, warmth, etc. The facilities were modern and immaculate with floor to ceiling glass walls that could be folded back every day for an indoor-outdoor experience. The cooking was great and if we didn't like anything (which didn't really happen) they'd make something else! One day when I wasn't feeling well, the cook made me homemade chicken soup and then saved it for me for later when I couldn't finish it. Everyday was a dream -waking up to crystal clear ocean views, quiet, hot breezes and then getting up and choosing whether to go on an adventure or sit around the pool all day. We loved it!

After reading all of the glowing reviews of Taveuni Island Resort on this website, I find it hard to say anything that hasn't been said already. This place is simply unbelievable!

My new husband and I came here for our honeymoon on 11/21/06 - 11/28/06. Flying the 16+ hours to get there was so tiresome, but as soon as set foot on the resort, we quickly found out that it was all worth it - and then some. We were greeted by their wonderful staff singing us a Fijian welcome song. It was so warm and inviting! We were then given a tour of the resort - all of which was beautiful. The whole resort was breathtaking, with views so beautiful, you really think that you were in heaven.

Our bure (balabala) was unlike any other place we had ever stayed before. It was spacious, so clean, and private. The food was OUTSTANDING. But most of all? The staff was so nice, knew us by name, and were just the friendliest people we had ever met. They were always so helpful, and had smiles on their faces.

The resort had complimentary activities like snorkeling and kayaking, but offered multiple activities like island hopping, bbq's, hiking, etc. everyday. The resort is great for doing nothing if that's what you choose to do, or they provide so many things you can do, if you're the more active type.

7 days later, we were so sad to leave, as it's always sad to leave friends. We were truly spoiled at this resort. Our honeymoon was a big splurge for us. But we hope one day we can return to this beautiful island in Taveuni.

p.s. BULA to Amy and her staff - Eunice, Tomasi, Paul, Sai - we miss you all. :)

My husband and I just returned last week from 8 glorious days at Taveuni Island Resort. I can hardly find the appropriate words to describe the wonder and beauty of this magical resort. From the magnificent ocean views to the surrounding floral and fauna, it is breathtaking. From the moment of arrival, being greeting in Fijian song to the time of departure, we were in awe of this island in paradise. The staff stole our hearts and we fell in love with each and every one of those we met.

We stayed in an oceanfront bure. The luxury air conditioned bures are secluded and allow total privacy to relax as you wish whenever you wish. The outdoor rock showers are to die for. We never used our indoor shower once as the outdoor ones are just so inviting. The canopied beds are about as dreamy as they can be and totally romantic. The outdoor verandahs offer the most breathtaking views of the ocean.

The resort offers many complimentary activities from snorkeling, beach combing, kava and meke ceremonies, sulu tying, coconut crafts, kayaking, etc. Their pool is also quite unique as it overlooks the ocean. They also offer daily excursion off-site adventures such as horseback riding, village visits, coastal tours, church services, sunset cruises, waterfall and rainforest tours and hikes, fishing trips, outer island snorkeling trips, pearl farming expeditions, etc. You can do as much or as little as you like. Oh, and they have a world class spa also.

I can not say enough of how wonderful, how beautiful, how clean, how quiet, how fresh, how friendly, how magical this piece of Heaven on Earth really is. If you are looking for paradise in the south pacific, look no further, THIS IS IT !!!

Vinaka Vaka Levu from the bottom of our hearts Taveuni Island Resort . We will forever hold you sweetly in our hearts ~ ~
