Mary is a wonderful hostess, and her staff are great! The location is right by the Sea, as well as across from a lake. The staff are friendly and make sure you have all that you need. The rooms are furnished in French Victorian style, and the one we stayed in has lace curtains and lace table covers - just lovely! We especially loved meeting and chatting with people during breakfast in the morning, and in the evening, rocking in the chairs on the long covered porch. The breakfast choices are all good, and you are just across the street from the beautiful beach and Atlantic Ocean! Don't wait to book your stay at a wonderful place!

We stayed here Labor day week and the place is very pleasant. Our room was a special promo price, so we couldn't complain too much, but the bathroom needed some work. The sink was tiny and almost unusable, with a medicine cabinet sticking out 6" above it. Maybe remove the cabinet, mount a mirror, and add another shelf over the toilet. The shower drain was very slow, quickly accumulating 2 inches of water. We reported it, but to no avail. The toilet, too big for the room, was a challenge, with knees bumping up against the door, which, unfortunately, didn't latch at all, much less lock. The central AC was on, and the sign advised us to keep the windows shut in spite of a beautiful shore breeze outside. No way to turn it off in the room. Mary the innkeeper was very nice, not overly bubbly or intrusive as some innkeeper owners feel they have to be. Our breakfast waitress was friendly and efficient, keeping the coffee coming. Breakfast omlette was delicious and generous, served inside or out on the nice, open porch with a view of the lake, swans and all. Overall, except for the bath issues in room 24, a nice place to stay.

Save your money. We were there for a mini honeymoon. With Dopey and Grumpy running the Inn it is a terrible place to stay. While the Inn itself is beautiful, Mary (Dopey) and her sister (Grumpy) set the tone and it is an overall unfriendly place to stay. Unless of course you are a regular. But, how could you ever become a regular in such and unfriendly atmosphere. Mary is nice and does a good overall job. Her sister is in one word a B****! Go to Spring Lake. Beautiful B&Bs there that are being run and managed by the owner. Makes a HUGE difference. Will never go again.

Recently stayed for 3 nites and was very pleased with the service and the breakfasts were excellent, location was fantastic as it was on a dead end street overlooking tranquil Sylvan Lake, family friendly beach was right across street and excellent resaurants were nearby (Avon Pavillion and Dolce Vita were superb). My only complaint is the rate seemed a bit high for the room size and there were no bicycles to use, they did have beach chairs and towels.

Well run Bed and Breakfast with lots of true charm.
Food was fresh. Rooms clean and smartly decorated without the grannyesque quilty Victorian appointments . Cashelmara was quaint but modern.
Staff was very efficient without overreaching. Mary was lovely and helpful.
The ONLY complaint was the constant infernal music inside and outside the Inn. We came for peace and quiet .
The Atlantic can be heard from the porch as well as birds chirping and singing.
We didnt need to hear Billy Ocean and The Byrds.
That said,if the staff can bear me always asking them to turn off the music ,we will return.

We needed a couple of nights away, not too far from home...peace and quiet and a beautiful setting. This was just what we were looking for and it was as great as we had hoped. We had room 31 and it was so comfortable and had a wonderful 3rd floor view of the ocean. The inn itself was so warm and inviting and the people were as friendly and helpful as you could imagine. The food? Breakfast was yummy and fresh and served in a sunny room. The coolest part is the movie room - set up like a real old-fashioned theatre/screening room, equipped with blankets and popcorn. Cozy!
We'll be back, thanks to Mary, Kristen and , of course, Lucy!

unfortunately we stayed only one night and had a very nice room.. apart from the bed being a little old -it was very uncomfortable, everything was very lovely. it was the first couple months we started dating with my -now-fiancee and the bed and breakfast by the beach was a great background :)
