We visited this hotel last year in November for one week and thoroughly enjoyed it. Hence the return this year for our honeymoon. The staff made our visit very special to name but a few Mohamed at the pools who looked after us every morning with our towels and sun umbrella, MC Ali which we partied the night away along with some friends we met on holiday, Walid who brought us our drinks whereever we were sat.
The whole hotel was very clean, with staff continually cleaning at all hours of the day.
Our room was on the new block which was to the right of the reception and a five minute walk from the pools and dining room it was very spacious and cleaned every day with fresh towels every day, however we were closer to the quiet pool which I have to add is very quiet.
The food was excellent lots to choose from even for the fussy eaters there was plenty of options, the vegi section was also plentiful. The hotel has a Thai restaurant as well which is not included in the all inclusive, however the menu is reasonably priced the chefs within this restuarant cook in front of you. There is also a snack bar in the Lotus bar where you can get pizza's freshly cooked and chips oh and ice cream mmmmmmm.
I fully recommend the snorkelling of the jetty, the fish are awesome.
On visiting the downtown which is located at the three corners hotel we encountered a small bar with a bar man who could not do enough for us to the point that my husband is an avid Man City supporter so with the derby on in the middle of our holiday he had to watch it and this bar did everything to entertain us.
for the people who are looking for night life then this is not the holiday for you.
I would just like to add that if your are considering a holiday here then you will not be disappointed a holiday is what you make it if your looking for relaxing or fun packed then this is it.
The excursions can be a little on the expensive side however if you shop around you can find them a little cheaper.
Ok hope this is enough info and I would just like to say Thanks to the hotel and its staff for making my honeymoon memorable. xxxDixxx

I have been this hotel twice. First time was wonderful. The second time I caught Typhoid. To have the runs and sickness because of the temperature and to be eating different food than at home is acceptable as it usually that fault of the individual. However, I caught TYPHOID, this is a hygiene issue at the hotel. This has put me off traveling to this hotel and region ever again. (I didn't drink any tap water or use it to brush my teeth etc)
I am writing this review to warn people of this poor approach to hygiene at this hotel.

The hotel is generally ok. The rooms were large and spacious and about a 4 star quality. Service was ok, beach was ok, usually very quiet and easy to get sunbeds.

Its a surprise that the hygiene was so shocking considering the hotel is ok when it came to everything else. However, this is just not enough when the health of the customers is at risk.

Just to confirm, I contracted TYPHOID at the Sofitel Taba Heights.

Overall this was a lovely place very clean, nice rooms and balconies, good selection of pools and beach, snorkelling not bad. Food on the whole very good would be nice to have option of A La Carte I didn't try the dine around so couldn't comment the other restaurants in the hotel seemed to cost $50 for 3 course meal but again I didnt try them. Had to wait on busy occasions for table to be laid and drinks to be served in restaurant, this was the only negative I could find. Any problems we encountered were very quickly rectified.

I thank you for bringing this to our attention. The views of our guests are greatly valued .

I
You can only know if you had Typhoid if you did comprehensive laboratory testing . Typhoid you can get at the airport, excursions, airplane , England , etc. I am not sure how your doctor can state that you contracted Typhoid in the hotel. ? you would have not been the only one but hundreds more . At your time of stay we had more a 1000 guest in the hotel. We are known for our excellent cleanliness .
We have regulary very comprehensive health and safety checks by independent HACCP companies and inspections of European tour operators.

I am sorry to here that you caught Typhoid and I hope you have recovered.

Kind regards

We stayed at the Sofitel for 2 weeks 24th Aug - 8th Sept and had a great time. The hotel was much bigger than we th0ought it would be but it dod not make any difference to the service they provided. Check in was easy and freindly. The room was a good size and i was pleased to see that there was an Egyptian feel to it, beautiful colored bed spread and matching curtains, not cheap and nasty. The room was big enough for us and was spotless, it was cleaned everyday and soft fresh towels and bed linen, all rooms have a sea view even if it is only a little bit of sea. The only down side was the bed was very hard and we got back ache but thats our issue. Our air con was not quite right but they sent a chap along who tinkered with it and then it was beautiful and cool which was a must as it's very hot there all year round. The pools are big and there are plenty of sunbeds for everyone. We spent most of time on the beach and in the warm water, no having to get used to the water, straight in and it's like a nice bath. The beach is sand but there are small rocks along the sea edge, take water shoes with you as it makes life much easier. At first i was bit dissapointed as all the coral seemed dead which it is near the shore, and the coral is right at the shore edge. However, we spent hours looking at all the tiny brilliant coloured fish and marine life when the tide was out. But if your like me and do not like going out of your depth, you only need to go out waist deep to see bigger and more beautiful fish. Snorkling is a must it's amazing, we saw rays, Dragon fish, parrot fish, sea snakes, large blue bream and a million other types of wonderful fish. There is also a small pier you can go off and the water gets deep just off the jetty for more confidant swimmers. There is not a lot to do around the hotels in Taba as it is right in the sianai desert. The anaimation team are great and will keep you ocupied all day if you like that sort of thing. Each night they put on a dance show which is pretty good but after a couple of weeks it gets a bit samey.Trips from the tour agents are exspensive for instance if you want to go to Cario it will cost you around £300 each, it is a long way though.WE did the stars and dinner trip which cost us £80 each and i have to say i was really dissapointed, it was a full moon which was beautiful but it hides the stars in it's brightness. They have telescopes to look through but they are not really powerful enough to see much, the Bedouin camp is made for tourists and the bedouins live away from the site in little houses down and around the track in the dessert, it was ok for something to do but not worth the money at all. However, we met a lovely family (hello JAne, Stewart, Beccy, Josh and Johnny) and arranged a deal with one of the local tour guides to go quad biking in Taba town. Boy did he do us proud! for £100 (excluding the quads which were £18 each) he arranged a people carrier and driver for the day, a good place to eat in, a snorkelling stop in a magical place and time to look around the shops in Taba. We had a ball, the guys with the quads were brilliant and made sure we were safe at all times and helped me cos' i'm a bit of a wimp, we spent at least 3 hours on the bikes driving along the beaches, in the desert and snorkling, one of the best trips ever and amazing value. We also did the snorkling trip to Salladins Casle on Farrows Island. I cannot praise the crew enough , Ashraf and his team are just brilliant. As i dsaid earlier i do not like going out of my depth but for the first time in over 20 years i did! Asraf swam with the less confidant swimmers and he made us feel so safe it was great and before i knew it iwas swimming in depts of 30 mtr, and by the way we could see the botom of the sea bed from the boat, it was fantastic. Everyone on board had a brilliant time. One young teenager had difficulty walking and he looked after her so well, she never thought she would ever snorkell and i think he made her holiday, she was also so brave, but that is the trust you can put in these guys, they are expert divers/swimmers and will not take any risks. One problem we had was we bought a dvd of the day on board which we watched when we got back to the water park but when we got home it was blank, we did e mail them but have not heard back, I really don't think this was intentional, I think the guy simply picked up a blank by mistake but it is dissapointing as it showed my partner doing the most incredibley bad flip dive off the boat! We had a great chill out holiday and i would recommend the Sofitel. My only issue really was the food, don't get me wrong it's ok, but certainly not 5 star and very samey each day . On the whole had a great time and i chose the Sofitel due to the good write ups on Trip Advisor so thanks to others who have written honest reviews.

We had a lovely holiday at the Sofitel. Having never been to Egypt before I didnt really know what to expect, but it turned out to be an amazing holiday in a beautiful location. Is not too far away from the aiport so is a short transfer.
Staff are so helpful and would do anything for you, I thought that the staff would be expecting tips constantly but this was not the case, only time we were asked for a tip was at the airport by a lad who put the cases on the bus. We tipped the staff every so often but by no means did they expect it every time they helped you. The rep was the best we've ever had, every time we walked past him he checked we were ok and having a good time. He even called the room at one point to check everything was alright. The food was lovely always fresh with lots of choice. Breakfast was especially great, I had a freshly made omellette every morning and theres loads more to choose from. However if you are there for 2 weeks I can see it getting repetitive, but it is great value for money and I always had far too much to eat! Some people have complained about the all inclusive ending at 11 but for us this wasnt a problem. Great choice at the bar with some lovely cocktails. Housekeeping leave 2 bottles of water in your fridge each day but we found we barely used them as they are plenty of water coolers around the pool.

The rooms were lovely with huge balconys, we had a sea view even though it wasnt requested. Only thing I had a complaint about was the air con which wasnt very powerful, we complained and it was fixed promptly but still wasnt great. From talking to other guests we found that in the newer blocks they have different air con systems which are alot better, so it might be an idea to request a room in a newer block - although these are further from the pool. Room cleaning wasnt really 5 star standard but by no means were the rooms dirty. Only complaints were that once shower gel ect ran out they wernt replaced, however im sure if we'd have asked they wouldve gladly given us some new ones, we just used the bar of soap. Went back to the room one day to find all my jewellery had been arranged into heart shapes!
There isnt much entertainment there but this suited us fine, we wanted a quiet holiday, but if you like a lively atmosphere then this is probably not place for you. There is an 'international show' every night at ten which we watched once, however it is not the best, a few dances interspersed with very long costume change breaks! However the management are in the process of changing the entertainment so next summer it might be better. In the day there are belly dancing lessons and aqua aerobics, one of the entertainment reps there tried to force me to take part and took a while to take no for an answer so try to avoid them if you dont want to take part! We went to the town on the free shuttle bus service but there is not alot there, a decent supermarket if you need any bits and a few shops. Careful as you walk through the town as we spoke to someone who got talked into a shop, the door locked behind them and they wernt allowed out till theyd bought something!
As we went in September is was slightly quieter, we only had to wait for a table once and this was only 5 minutes, but we were told that 2 weeks before you had to wait 45 minutes for a table and that there was a bit of a battle for sunbeds. We never had problems with sunbeds and always managed to get one, there were some still free at lunchtime.

Whilst there we went scuba diving which was good but a lot of money for what it was, not much attention was paid to teaching us and it felt like they just wanted to get everything done quickly and get us out of there. We also went parasailing which was quite cheap and great fun! I had a massage in the hotel in the lovely spa. It was much cheaper than at home and a lovely treat, would recommend it to those who really want to relax!

All in all our holiday was great. It was amazing value for money, lovely hotel, beautiful surroundings, friendly staff. I will certainly be booking again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing holiday away from the hustle and bustle of Sharm.

We booked the Sofitel for our honeymoon on the recommendation of people we new who had been there before. We travelled early July 2009. We were not disappointed in the slightest. We booked through Thomson who were excellent all the way through from the flight out to the flight back.

The staff were fantastic - from the guys on the Beach, around the pool, the pool bar, main bar and the restaurant. Many thanks to Mohammed, Reda, Mahmood, the other Mohammed, Ahmed and all of you - you made our stay extremely enjoyable. Everyone seemed to know it was our Honeymoon and as such we were treated fantastically.

Our room was in the new block. it was large, cleaned every day with excellent service. Aircon great, bathroom great and views of Jordan, Saudi and Sinai mountains were fantastic.

The food was ideal - people expecting table service and full a'la carte then pay more and go somewhere else. The buffet was excellent - yes there is staple food every day but there is a huge variety to please all tastes on top of that - remember this is a multi-cultural hotel so was aimed at the right people.

Pools were great, plenty of space, one point to note was that the pool attendants were always there and do an excellent job of keeping good order - very impressed.

Beach was lovely - tad stoney at the entrance to the sea but that’s all. Sea life great for snorkelling. Only trip we did was the Red sea cruise (Snorkelling trip) - don't even hesitate. Book it and go and enjoy - its worth every penny.

Ok some points:

Use the Bedouin tent - its great fun.
Listen to the rep about food and water - she knows her stuff
Food is great
Do the snorkel trip
Ignore all reports about bad food - its excellent
Water is free from ice cold coolers on the side of the pool
Staff are excellent
Respect other cultures

Think that’s it for now...

Wishing you an enjoyable time

Emma and Barney Andrews

In the month of July 2009 my family booked our hiliday to taba heights again, this would be our fourth trip to Egypt but our second to the sofitel. The staff were amazing, from housekeeping, to the entertainment team! There was so much to do, all day, every day! I even spent some days relaxing with the animations team. There was a great veriety of resturantes, not to mention Taba town. My family and I went to El Fuagos, a mexican resurante twice in two weeks, good prize, good food and excelent service.

On the night there were many things to do, watch a childrens film down stairs with the kids clubs, relaxing on the beach with a sheesha or dancing the night away at the disco. I had many good nights at the disco. The staff were so nice to the customers, that they decided to through us a pool party which was amazing, lights on the water, the best music all week (in my oppinion) and the staff joined in as well.

The fasilities range from, three pools, gym, spa, kids club, watersports centre and many more things.

The bottom line is, what ever your needs may be for a holiday, the sofitel will meet them! The sofitel suits all, for all needs! thank you to all the staff for an amazing two weeks, thank you so much to our rep at Thompsons as well! Thank you so much!
