“Best holiday ever”
Reviewed November 7, 2013

This is the first review ive ever written!
I just had to share our wonderful experience of our lovely holiday at this beautiful place!

We went over October half term, we were in a group of 7 Including two 3 year olds! Everything was brilliant from the moment we arrived such friendly and lovely people around the complex.

The children's entertainment was just brilliant with great reps and children's clubs!

Food was great something for everyone bbq were especially yummy!

Pools were clean and very fun and the beach was gorgeous and a stones throw from the hotel.

We bought a beautiful picture from a lovely man called Adam- if you visit the hotel, you must take a look at the pictures made on papyrus they are really different a special piece of Egypt and your holiday to take home and remember!

I highly recommend this hotel and would love to go back!

This was our 3rd visit to this hotel and we travelled with a 9 year old and grandparents for 14 nights in the October half term so it was very busy.

Kids club - Excellent! Lots of different sessions and evening sessions so grown ups can spend time in the adult bar or have meal on their own.

Food - Always plenty of choice you would never go hungry here, although I do have to say that the quality probably wasn't as good as in previous years. They have also done away with the snack bar on the beach which is a real same as it was lovely to eat outside on a lunch time. They have provided a take-away but its right next to the restaurant by the pool and only open for an hour which led to huge queues. They really need to address this as most all inclusives provide take away service all day around pool/beach areas.

Drinks - A good choice of cocktails, wine, beer, local spirits, no problems here.

Entertainment - Really geared towards children which they seemed to enjoy, did think they could do to bring in singers or other entertainment in different parts of the hotel rather than have it all in the Phearoe Theatre. There were occasional Egyptian dancers that came downstairs but once you had seen them once you had seen them.

Staff - This is were this hotel excels, the staff are amazing! They are all polite and hardworking and really go out of their way to ensure you are happy. They don't expect a tip but of course a small token goes along way. From the cleaner to the waiters they all couldn't do enough for us.

Rooms - We were in block 10 which is central for the main restaurant and bars. All the rooms are huge with a big walk in wardrobe and safe. The rooms are starting to look quite dated and dark and could certainly do with a refurbish but this didn't spoil our holiday.

Pools - The activity pool was closed 4 times whist we were there due to people pooing in the pool. We couldn't believe that selfish people would let their kids in without a swim nappy! The hotel even provided them in the 1st choice office so there really was no excuse, the hotel cant be blamed for this.

Overall - we had a lovely family holiday in a nice hotel with good service, however because we had been before we couldn't help thinking the hotel was looking very tired and in need in full refurbishment. would we go back................probably if it was the price was right but there are a lot of other hotels in the area that have upped their game and charge less so we will see!

We stayed 20/10/13-1/11/13. 2 adults and a 10yr old. This was our first time to Egypt and having stayed in the Holiday Village we will definitely be returning. We was made to feel welcome the moment we arrived and even though it was late they kept the restaurant open so we could get something to eat while the porter took our suitcases to our room.

We stayed in block 13, a swim up room which was really spacious. It had a king sized bed(ask for a matress topper as a little hard), a big walk in wardrobe where the safe is kept and a big bathroom with walk in shower. The rooms have a widescreen tv with kids channel, movie channels and news. The room was kept spotless by our housekeeper and he even did some towel art for us a few times. We will definitely book a swim up again as you have a private pool and your own sun loungers so don't have to get up early to put towels down. No need to take beach towels as these are provided by the hotel. We was very near the quiet pool bar so not to far to walk to get a drink. Took me a couple of days to get used to the beer but after that was nice n refreshing. My girlfriend would drink alcoholic cocktails which she said were very nice and for the little ones there's plenty of non alcoholic cocktails and fizzy pop.

The food was great, we only ate in the main restaurant as we always managed to find something we liked. They have 7 different theme nights a week which is really good as the food doean't become to repetitive. Plenty of choice for kids also, pizzas made to order, pasta, fries, burgers, hot dogs etc. Breakfast, you can have fried eggs, porched eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, cereal, pancakes, fruit. Happy to say that none of us fell ill, always used the hand sanitizers on entry to the restaurant and we drank plenty of water, you get 2 bottles in the room every day, free of charge.

The staff here are amazing, they really are a pleasure to be around, always smiling and joking, especially with the kids. They can't do enough for you, on the odd occasion the waiters must have been waiting for us to finish our drinks and brought us more without us having to even ask. And how the staff always seem to remember what your drinking is beyond me. They didn't make us feel like we should tip as the service is just as good even after we did. Take some £ coins to tip with however they may ask you to change them to a egyptian or english note when they have a lot cos they can't bank the coins.

We ventured out one day but felt a little intimidated by the local shopkeepers so didn't spend long out there but thinking back now it wasn't all that bad. We just said "no thank you" but just think it was cos of the frequency of people trying to get you in their shops. We did see the Hard Rock Cafe, Mcdonalds, Starbucks and KFC but didn't go in any but will definitely try them next time. We went on 2 excursions which we booked with first choice, the old market was great, really cheap, converse trainers £8, Dr Dre Beats headphones £14. All mucky but for that price, why not. We also went on the seascope submarine, was ok but nothing to shout home about, maybe we just picked a bad day.

Our little one didn't do the kids clubs but when walking passed all the kids looked like they were having a lot of fun.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and kept immaculate by the hard working gardeners. These guys would always go out of there way to greet us with a smile and a good morning/afternoon.

The beach was nice and the sea was really clear. We could see the fishes swimming round it was that clear. There's also watersports down at the beach but we didn't do any.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday and we are hoping to return next Easter. Congratulations to the hotel on such a wonderful place.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a swim up room. Well worth it.

I visited the resort on Oct 6th for a week with family members and two little nieces. This was the best holiday I have had and I would return to this hotel. Staff were so brilliant and friendly, hotel rooms were huge, and cleaned to such a high standard. Evening entertainment was a little to be desired but it is a family orientated hotel.
The a la carte restaurants were amazing. We visited the Indian, Chinese and American. All beautiful food! There is so much choice in the buffet restaurant also, I find it hard to believe people on here didn't enjoy it. They also make you sanitise your hands before entering the restaurant which is such a good idea. As long as you keep your hands clean throughout the holiday, sickened etc shouldn't be a problem. Myself and my husband were absolutely fine and ate numerous different things.
I visited the spa for 2 full body massages, around £25 each which is such amazing value.
I thoroughly enjoyed the hotel and would love to go back next year! Thank you to all for a special racing holiday.

Booking with first choice was a breeze, we flew from Luton, not the best but the prices were lower and flew out on time when the really bad weather hit at the end of October 2013. The flight was great, basic food and as with many charter flights all food / drink was extra. we sailed through the airport without any issues and arrived at the hotel after a 15 min bus trip.

checkin was fine, everything was ready and we were in a select room in block 8 (great location), the rooms were what we expected, a little basic but fully functional, clean and tidy - an extra light in the shower would be helpful - but I'm really clutching at straws) the room was very big, we moved the childrens beds down to the far end and nobody bothered anyone all week :-).

The buffet was very good, they did a theme every night so there was variety, there is an American diner, Chinese, Indian and Mediterranean in addition, you get a voucher for each of these for 1 night during your week (assuming 2 if going for 2 weeks) but you need to book these the morning after you get there really as they fill up quickly.

The pools are excellent very clean and well maintained. There was a "code brown" once during the week in the activity pool, this (whilst disgusting) can't be helped with little kids, as soon as it was reported they shut the pool, did a deep clear and ran chemicals through it, the pool was shut for around 4 hours. they do provide swim nappies and there are many many signs up advising they must be used, don't swim if you have an upset tummy etc etc. this is not the fault of the hotel but the parents / kids and handled very quickly by the hotel.

It was our wedding anniversary whilst out there and they decorated out sun beds and parasol as our friends advised them, a really nice touch :-)

Others have commented that the beds are quite hard, all I can say is it's the best sleep I;ve had for quite a while, very comfy but very firm.

We went diving with the local dive centre attached to the hotel, very well set up and great dive master, highly recommended.

The kids clubs are really well planned, and managed very professionally, great attention to security and fun. Many of the staff were set to leave at the end of our holiday as the "summer" came to a close for them at the start of November they still gave it there all.

Downsides
The wifi rates are extortionate - at around £5 for 30 mins, if you really need wifi, pop out of the hotel and there is a starbucks that offers free wifi I believe

The airport at Sharm is not great on the return trip, pretty chaotic, lack of information and screens advising status, we did get on the plane as did our luggage so can't really complain.
/end

We have only ever done villa holiday with our 2 girls (9 and 6) and this was our first hotel holiday with them, I would have no hesitation is going back to the Holiday Village in Sharm or another holiday village in the First choice group.

absolutely recommended, happy kids and relaxed parents.

Room Tip: select rooms are worth the upgrade, not sure about the swim up rooms, many are in the shade for the...

Having come back from the FC Holiday Village in Sharm el Sheikh I made a complaint. It took almost 2 months to respond to this complaint. It appears that childrens entertainers using words like shag and vajazzle to an audience of mainly 3-8yr olds is a training issue. If you catch a thief in the act, like we caught a gardener, it is the responsibility of the hotel management to sort it out (which is fine). We did make the FC reps aware as soon as this happened and asked them to deal with it. However when the management talk to you directly without notice in very broken English without any First Choice Rep being present this is acceptable as well, according to the response from FC to my complaint... very upsetting, unsettling and intimidating especially when the Manager starts talking about us making police statements, line-ups etc. I would have thought that something of this serious nature should require at all times a FC rep being present! FC response in my words is that the hotel management are responsible for staffing in the hotel and that the management would deal with any theft unless we as an FC rep to be involved if we specifically as for them to be and they were able to, not forgetting the 24hr helpline that is available for advice. Is it me, or do others find this astonishing. This would be fine if we had had notice that the Manager was coming to our room to discuss what was going to happen. Oh, and calling all the gardeners together by the Grounds Manager right outside our patio windows only scared the wits out of my 7yr old daughter, who cried and felt intimidated - I also felt intimidated. Flight times changed but FC never notified us, it was only when I went on the website did I notice it, and then phoned to confirm - I know that this can and does happen often but someone could have told us. One morning there was algae covering the top of the pool and resting on the bottom - hotel management came to inspect, tried to tell people that they had put a chemical in to make all the rubbish sink - erm don't think so. They kept on telling us it was safe to swim in it. Pool kept being closed because people were pooping in it! Generally the holiday village was in need of a substantial amount of TLC. And to top this off, we have booked for a different Holiday Village next year (before we went to the Egyptian one this year). Following the experience we had this year and our significant concerns especially around childrens entertainment we said we would want to consider changing to a different holiday. FC response in my own words all cancellation/amendment charges will apply. Incredible really. Not only was our holiday ruined this year and no real offer of an apology or some form of compensation (which I never asked for but will be doing now, just wanted an unreserved apology and a commitment that this would never happen to another family, that policies and processes would be put in place to avoid this kind of situation in the future), First Choice Holidays are going to insist we pay a cancellation and administration fee - loss of deposit £750??? for changing to another holiday! Appalled, disgusted and astonished doesn't seem to cover what I think adequately. You pay a premium for the Holiday Villages, ensuring that your children are well looked after and entertained, and that should you have a problem because is it a First Choice only resort it will be dealt with satisfactorily, We may as well have saved £1000 and gone somewhere just as good but cheaper. This is classed as a 4* hotel, more like 2*+ or 3* There is more I could add but think I've gone on long enough now.
