“Safe, friendly, clean and fun holiday”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

Visited for a week in February 2013 with my wife and two teenage daughters. Weather was warm and sunny, 24 to 30 degrees during the day down to a cool 15 degrees in the evening. We had two 1st floor room close to the main pool and beach, both were very large, clean and well serviced. The restaurants were all great, even the main buffet one, although busy had an amazing and tasty selection to suit everyone. The food was well presented, well cooked and very tasty. All the staff were excellent, we only tipped for exceptional service, but no one really expected it. The pools were really clean and pool bars never left you thirsty.

TIPS,

Don't take towels from home, plenty for room and also seperate ones for pools and beach.
Book all your restaurants on your first day, they do book up.
The spa is great, worth spoiling yourself.
Newspapers are a rip off, ended up getting a second hand well thumbed one for £4.
There is no need to walk out of the complex... you will be disappointed, and hassled to buy something.

All in all a really relaxing week, would love to return!

Room Tip: Beware of being too close to the beach, the 'Pataya Beach' nightclub can be noisy, until 5am...

My boyfriend and I stayed a week here to get some R&R. We are in our mid twenties.

Room:
We upgraded to the swim up room, which was well worth it - you get two sun loungers and your own sun terrace. The swim up pool was a bit chilly but it was refreshing when the sun was very hot. It was very peaceful if you don't want the mayhem of being near the kids pools. However for part of our stay we had a family next door who let their children treat the swim up pool as their own private pool, the kids were loud and obviously very bored despite there being two kids pools, one of which has two flumes and the other a sort of water jungle gym, and a free daily kids club. But anyway....

We were in block 7 which has the sun all day - perfect. Plus, a drinks waiter comes round each hour to the swim up rooms.

The room was huge, and in good condition. Beds are very firm, but I had a great weeks sleep and it actually helped my bad back and shoulders. You get free tea and coffee in the swim up rooms. The cleaners are OK but I think the rooms could benefit from a deep clean, there was big squashed bug on the wall of our shower when we arrived that was there when we left... So they aren't very thorough. We got the infamous towel art which was a nice touch. You get two free bottles of water each day.

Food:
I didn't know about the watchdog programme until after we'd booked (typical!) so we went armed with Imodium. However the food was faultless and we had no upset tums at all. There are alcoholic gel stations at all the entrances. The amount of people I saw not using these was disturbing, if you get ill here I can only think its your own fault because the hotel seems very hot on food cleanliness and the chefs are always checking food level and temperature.

There is an Adult only breakfast which was nice, I would like them do the same for lunch and dinner. There is a different buffet theme each night, so there's lots of variety and there was always pasta and chips served if you can't live without them....

The a la cartes are nice, favourites were Indian and Chinese. The Med was OK but a bit boring compared to the other two.

The inclusive drinks were good, there is an extensive cocktail menu and these were very nice (but they make them strong!!!).

Garden and beach:
The gardens are well kept, it seems a constant task to keep them that way, the garden team are always working. One of them gave me a bunch of the flowers he had been pruning, very sweet! The beach has a jetty but it doesn't go to the end of the coral shelf and it was closed for 6 of the 7 days of our holiday with no explanation, just the entrance having been taped off - a shame. This area doesn't seem very popular with fish anymore, we only saw one lonely fish! The beach sun beds look nice but we didn't sunbathe here as we had the swim up room.

Other:
Towels for sunbathing are included and you can change them daily.

Wifi is £4 for 15 min at the hotel but its worth it if you are desperate (I had to check my work emails) as the wifi at the Vista sports bar over the road, whilst free, was so slow I couldn't connect. There is NOT free wifi in McDonald's (we thought there was based on reviews we had read). There's wifi in Starbucks but it was 50p for an hour (good price!) but again very slow.

Summary:
We had a lovely time as a young couple, we enjoyed the tranquility of the swim up pool and the adult only View bar and breakfast. I wouldn't come in school holidays as I think there'd be too many kids but I'd definitely return in quiet season as we had a good time.

We booked to go to the HV in January this year, then read about the watchdog programme. So as you can imagine we were very worried to say the least (we neednt have been). The hotel and staff were superb, the food was decent, always something there for even the fussiest of eaters. We could not see what all the watchdog fuss had been about, and liked it so much, we are going back in April all being well. The only let down for us was the pool at the swim up room, it was freezing, but hey it was January after all.

We were here for 2 weeks from the 6th Feb-20th and had a fantastic time, it was our first visit to Egypt and defo wont be our last. There was just the 3 of us me, hubby and 10 yr old son and were in a kids den room in block 10. The room was huge and very clean, although the bed was hard we found it very comfy. Every day the room was cleaned and fresh towels and water given, our wounderful maid always asked when he saw us if everything was ok with the room, which it was. (took us a week to realise that the curtains that drew were hidden behind the voils) The hotel was immaculate, we never saw any rubbish and there was staff constantly cleaning. Every where you went in the hotel the staff were very polite and friendly and could not do enough for you. Whilst we were there the activity pool was closed for a few days whilst it was being fitted with heaters, so once it opened it was great. We tried the quiet pool which was heated also but much prefered the main pool area as the kids clubs were there and we found it much easier. The kids clubs reps are all fantastic and work very hard, hardly saw our 10 yr old as he was always in the clubs, the chocolate party being his favorite. It was nice to see him active and having fun instead of being on his games consoles. Kids clubs start at 12 noon and run through till 11pm with short breaks inbetween. We even managed to get to the spa and drink in the adults only bar of an evening, very funny as it emptied out at 11pm with all us parents going to pick the kids up. The food in the main restraunt was great lots of choice and different themed nights. The a la cart restraunts were good with the medetrano being our favorite so nice. There was also snack bars on the beach and by the main pool obviously not as much choice as the main restraunt but fine. There was also family activities or adult only games such as football, etc going on so if you wanted to join in you could. There was a bit of noise from the disco next door but only once a week I beleive it was their welcoming party, we could not here it in block 10 so we were fine. A lot of guests that we spoke to at the hotel had been there before and we can understand why, it is such a great hotel for everyone. Have been told that you get little extras each time you go back like late rooms, photos, spa passes and even a tree planted for you when you have been 5 times. The gardens are beautiful, the gardeners are always working on them to keep them looking nice. The trips with 1st choice are very expensive so we used Falcon which was just out side the gates to the right or to avoid being hastled use the service road near the beach which brings you right by it. The staff at Falcon were very nice and helpful especially Max who sorted us out with great trips and nice and cheap... glass bottom boat £10 adult £5 child, quad biking £15 each our favourite, and our guide Ali was AWSUM couldnt fault him, our 10 yr old even got to drive his own quad., we also did the stargazing trip which was fab we got to ride the camels, make bread with the Bedwin people, dance with them very funny and a great show too as well as seeing all them stars and the moon. Would defo recommend going to Falcon for your trips as they are a lot cheaper and they do not pressure you into buying anything. A little tip if you get hastled by shop keepers geting you to buy stuff tell them that you are off to see Max at Falcon and they leave you alone. To sum every thing up, this is a fantastic hotel with lots to do for the kids if they want to, all the staff and reps are excellant and work very hard to keep you happy. This is the best hotel that we have ever been to and cant wait to return which we are hoping to do between Oct and Feb next year, the sooner the better. Thank you everyone at Holiday Village and Falcon excursions for making a great holiday for us all.

Room Tip: if you have kids, the kids den rooms especially in block 10 are great as you are close to everything...

We were here from 4th - 18th February and had a fantastic time. It was our first visit to Egypt, but we will definitely be returing to the Holiday Village.

It was my son's 9th birthday while we were there and the pool staff and medeteranian restaurant staff sang happy birthday to him and was given a birthday cake. This was a very nice gesture by the hotel staff, all of whom are very pleasant and helpful even though some guests treat them terribly! (word of advice, dont take £1 coins as tips as they cant change them; we took them, but ended up tipping it LE. Generally speaking 10LE is £1, and this is preferred)

We requested a room in block 10 (after reading reviews about the noise at night from the disco on the beach) and we were given room 10110, which was a kids den room; the room was spotless and was cleaned, towels changed and water replaced every day. The room was ideally situated for the heated pool as the main pools were freezing at this time of year, it was even better that we had a terrace as we could run over the grass to the pool area!

The First Choice reps are very good too, daytime entertainment was varied, but the evening entertainment, in particular i5Live was woeful, it got to the stage that the boys didnt want to go, so we sat in the sports bar, or lobby bar.

There were a few things that could have been better, namely the beds - they're rock hard! And the reps from the Spa and scuba diving place who are constantly at the pool trying to sell spa treatments and trips. In saying that, if you said 'no thanks' they moved on, but it was just annoying!

On the whole however, it was a fantastic holiday... my Mrs tells me we're going back in October, so heres hoping!!

Room Tip: Block 10 for the quiet pool and main building or block 5 for the main (cold) pool and kids club.

Best hotel we have stayed at for kids entertainment. Our boys age 9 and 7 had a blast, so much variety and about 4/5 activities each day. All staff excellent.
Rooms great - ask for block 5. Very clean and gardens beautiful.
Pool warm, good location right on beach.
Food good - bit repetitive after a week. Not enough fish on the menu ! Beers from a bottle, wine rough, gin and tonics strong !
Overall though great value - we will go again soon.

Room Tip: E mail hotel before.
