first time in Egypt and had read the reviews prior to booking this hotel so was fully aware of its downfalls, however decided to give it a go anyway mainly because of being on a budget. First impressions were good until we got put in our room 135 which was great due to being net to the small pool..however the bathroom was disgusting, the fridge was hit and miss and they wheeled in a 3rd bed that was rusty. Next morning i asked to be moved to the newer block as i was aware they had recently been refurbished, i was told however that there was no availabilty..What did annoy me was the fact that other families who came after us were moved to the newer block. I asked again but was told the same answer that there was no rooms free..anyways the food was ok, the only downside was that too many flies round the desserts and they were not covered up but plenty of choice. didnt like the fact the all inclusive finished at 10pm...alcohol was vile, spirits were like paint stripper...beer was palatable tho !! cant fault the pools and the pool guy was lovely and friendly..infact the majority of the staff were friendly...especially Ramadan the omelette chef who know what you wanted and started making it as soon as he saw us leave our room and walk over for breakfast !! The animation team were great, Olivia was fab..loved the 3pm water aerobics (severn wooo wooo!!) the location was fab, free shuttle bus into Naama bay was great and also the beach...or a ten minute walk to Il Mercato shopping centre which is handy for Mcdonalds if you fancy a change..just ignore the guys on camels as they will try to con you out of money just to take a picture of their camel !! Met some fabulous people and overall i would go back as long as i was guaranteed a refurbed room...oh and lots of people were getting eaten alive by mosquitos but fortunately we didnt get any bites as we used the avon skin so soft body spray, that seemed to repel them...everyone else was using jungle formula and got eaten alive...the onsite dr was fab tho if you needed him

Room Tip: ask for a refurbished room

I have not long returned from Sharm el Sheikh, and a 7 day stay at the Viva Sharm Hotel. For a 3 star hotel, I cannot fault it very much at all. The hotel and the surroundings were beautiful, the hotel clean and the staff very friendly. Myself and 5 friends were in 2 rooms and have very few issues, and the ones that we did were always dealt with immediatly while we were at the hotel. There was 3 lovely pools, nice surroundings, clean restaurant and bar very nice. The food was ideal for me , I had no problems with that at all, and there was always plenty.
To mention a couple of staff, Mahmoud was very friendly and helpful to everybody, a credit to the hotel, and Osama the pool guy, went out of his way to make sure that everyone was comfortable. The holidaymakers will miss him if he leaves. There was not much to do from the activities team, but they did well. The hotel only 5 mins from most market places, Mocatta, Old Market and about the same to Naama Bay, all amazing at night. We did some amazing excursions from the hotel, which we were picked up from.
All in all, my best holiday, and I would not think twice about going back to this hotel. I look forward to going back again soon.

Myself, my partner and two of our friends decided we wanted to go on a little holiday after working straight for near enough a year. After booking for Sharm El Sheikh in April we were told the hotel we would be staying at was Viva Sharm, the months flew by and by August 27th we were on our way to the airport to catch our flight. After a good few hours we arrived at Egypt's Sharm El Sheikh airport to be greeted by our travel agent and taken on a small half hour/45 minute trip to our hotel.

Check in was nice and easy, we were greeted with smiles and happy faces, we even got a few refreshing drinks from the now ex bartender Ahmed(who we miss very much). We had sadly arrived after dinner had finished (10pm) and upon this the staff brought plates up to our room with bread, cheese, some ham and butter, not very much but they were nice to do this, in the end we settled for a Mc Donalds (make sure you order one, they are lovely).

Our room was to a nice stranded, we had fresh towels brought to us every day and new bed sheets put on the bed, the cleaner created towel creatures on our bed every morning and we were always excited to see them. The air condition worked really well and was lovely in the hot nights when you just needed to cool off. The swimming pools were great, clean and much needed, the four of us always enjoyed a dip in the morning after breakfast. Sam the pool guy treated us with friendliness and great respect, we felt like we had known him for a long time, he made sure to put our towels down on the same sun loungers every morning so we were facing the pool and still sat with each other.

Now, the bar & waiting staff are what made the holiday for me. We felt like we were all welcomed into their big family, dancing, clapping and singing most evenings and of course pushing the odd member of staff or one of us into the pool was always a treat. Hussan, Ahmed, Mohammed, Abdul, Max and all the rest just made everything a lot more relaxed, nothing was ever to much for them and they always greeted us with smiles, high fives, hand shakes and asking how we were doing that day. By the end of the holiday I was almost in tears saying goodbye to them all as we had become such great friends.

The animation team had their work cut out for them I think, they were never a disappointment, always getting people involved, dancing and smiling. Vedoo, Adam and Olivia are a treat to the hotel as well as the rest of the staff. They made the evenings for us full of joy and laughter.

I didn't really get to see many of the managers apart for Mr.Amhir, who always said hello to us and when there was a small problem with my food one afternoon, he and a member of staff brought over plates full of fresh fruit to the poolside where I was sat.

You always got the feeling nothing was to much trouble for the hotel, they always wanted to make sure you were enjoying yourself and you were happy. The food was a bit of touch and go as sometimes you'd go up for second and third plates, other times you weren't really bothered. At breakfast time the chiefs made sure there was pancakes ready for me to grab as that's all I really fancied and at dinner times if you didn't really want to have some food on your plate, they would let you try a bit before taking it away. The deserts were beautiful and sometimes you couldn't get enough of them.

The two shops outside the front entrance to the hotel were run by two lovely guys, the jewellery shop had lovely quality pieces in there and the little market sold my favorite chocolate Kit Kat Whites!

I would ignore most of the bad reviews here about this hotel because even as a 3* you were made to feel like it was 5* and that was manly due to the staff. They make the hotel what it is and when I visit Sharm again I will make sure to call in and see the waiters and bar boys.

Lovely holiday and a much needed break. Thank you to everyone who made us feel very welcome!

Room Tip: Tip the staff!! The rooms on the far left hand side are lovely and quiet, over looking the two pools.

Stayed here with my wife and some friends for 2 weeks. The hotel could be really nice, but has some issues! The rooms are awful... shabby furniture, broken tiles, toilet intermittently working, etc. But the bed was comfy enough, the rooms themselves are a good size, and the air conditioning worked well thank god!
Food was all ok. Nothing outstanding, but they didn't poison us and for the price there was always a choice of nice hot dishes and salads etc. Pools were nice until the last couple of days when one went mysteriously cloudy!
The so called all inclusive deal was irritating in that it finished at 10pm.....!!!! Yeah, I've never heard of that before either! The drinks are pretty horrible too. Lager ok, but god only knows what's in the spirits. Diesel would be smoother tbh. However, some people drank them just fine so it may be a personal thing. It seems to be worth trying all the combinations till you find one you can tolerate, just don't necessarily expect it to taste like what you ordered!!
On the positive, the staff are generally great! Special mentions for Hassan on the bar, (who seems to almost keep the place going singlehanded!), Bob the towel meister, and Olivia the Entertainer, for being entertaining!!
If you want to book trips, I strongly recommend you see Sam and Rami by the pool area. Cheap and reliable, and go the extra mile to help. Top guys!! If you want a tasty authentic Egyptian meal, ask the same guys... the restaurant they use in the old market is excellent and cheap. We also met some great people who hopefully we'll keep in touch with back home!
Overall, we had a great holiday, but if they just spent a few quid on the place it could be a really nice hotel.

I'd like to start off by saying please ignore any bad comments, people need to realise there are people out there that moan, whinge and complain about anything and everything.

This is our second time to Sharm El Sheikh, we stayed at a big 5* last time, I can honestly hand on heart say it didn't come close to our time at Viva Sharm.

The room was spacious, right by the pool, plenty of bars, decent on-going buffets and PRIME location, which I cannot stress enough, close to everything worth doing!

The thing that really made the holiday are the staff, Bar-staff, Hussan, Ahmed and Abdul, were consistently topping us up, spoke great english and couldn't feel more welcome! The manager Mr. Amhir (Sorry If i spelt it wrong), would bend over backwards to help, was kind, friendly, even celebrated nights out with us, absolute legend, and WILL always look after you.

The single biggest and best thing? The Animation Team, you've read it plenty of times, because it's true.

We soon became very close with the little minx from Manchester Olivia, she's kind, friendly absolutely bonkers and became like a sister to us.

Adam and Chief Animation Vedoo were great to, always looking out for our best interests and will be sorely missed! They can't do enough to help and will always return to this hotel, for that reason.

Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: Pool side, bottom floor for easy access. Ask for 301-319, really good. Can personally vouch for #305.
