Reviewed January 27, 2013

We are a family of four 2 children aged 17yrs/15yrs. We arrived at Sonesta Club 8.30 pm Christmas Eve 2012 for a 2wk holiday. Very happy with our rooms facing the lovely large heated pool and slide pool areas beautiful views day and night. The rooms were conecting very spacious and clean. Sometimes we were disappointed with room service that called early to clean our room not always taking notice of the request for NO service needed. We enjoyed this hotel and all the staff especially Ricky in charge of the animation team.He was great becoming a good friend with our son and taking him on nights out into town,we appreciated this because there was no other English teenagers for the whole two weeks stay.Ricky and the animation team worked hard getting guests to play vollyball, football,do yoga aqua aerobics etc.and entertaining us every night. All the staff at the Tropical Bar were brilliant day and night they love the English waiting on you day/night bringing heaters when the nights were cool and nothing was too much for them.Pool staff brilliant too they would ask if you wanted your towels putting out and it was done every day with pleasure and a smile.Food was average and we did eat out most of the second week. But NEW YEARS EVE was brilliant all the staff in their best outfits and the food was a work of art and gorgeous, the whole night was great the entertainment the countdown and the endless flow of party streamers, hats, blowers etc.The beer was nice the vodac was strong and I think this is the first all-enclusive were most of the holiday makers get tipsy or drunk. The days were hot always able to sunbath, but only dare go in the two heated pools for a swim. The nights were cold needing to wear trousers jumpers coats(wish we had taken more of these) We all enjoyed our last family holiday together and our first holiday away over Christmas/New Year.Last comments not enough English too many Rude Russians food could have been better but the staff make this hotel good.(wish we had taken warmer clothing for the evenings)..

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the main heated pool near the Tropical Bar.

Stayed from the 12-01-13 to the 19-01-13.
The hotel was amazing, staff were friendly and polite, rooms were cleaned everyday and the cleaner took to erecting animals with the towels that he left each morning which was amusing, hotel facilities and pools were excellent..to be honest the only pitfall was the food. The food wasnt great but having spoken to others in Sharm while away who stayed in other hotels they also had the same issue. We mainly ate out but at various locations.
The "Animation Team/Entertainment Team" were excellent encouraging activities and looking after peoples children in the day. At night there was a different show each night and the Animation Team encouraged and created a great vibe with the guests, never being rude or too pushy as i have experienced in other places.

All in all would reccomend to anyone

Stayed at the hotel 9-16th Jan. Rooms basic but cleaned well every day by very friendly staff. Animation team tried hard to please everyone....Wakey wakey sharm el sheikh! Downside is the hotel was full of rude arrogant Russians. The food was ok, every member of staff was pleasant and couldnt do enough to please you.
Hated the bay felt very intimidated and unsafe.

This was my 2nd visit after 4years (dec17th 2012). Most things have improved, food was their let down but I never went hungry! Rooms are average, your not in your room long enough to moan about them, rooms are clean everyday. Rooms just need refreshing. The staff are really friendly and speak to you all the time, also the animation team are fab, enjoyed our night out to Pacha with Ricki! The hotel is ideal location only 20mins away from Nama Bay and a lovely walk to the beach. Theirs plenty to do during the day and plenty of entertainment to see in the evening. Just try to avoid the Russians! Worth a visit to Soho, just a different amazing place at Xmas totally different to Nama Bay....NO hassle at all. Felt at home drinking in the Queen Vic pub:-) if you are stopping here you need to have a visit to Mc Donald's, their meals a huge especially the happy meal. Overall fantastic holiday, prob try another hotel only cause I've been to Sonesta Club twice know.
Not very often the hotel boss's come to chat, i was shocked and Impressed by his sense of humour lol..... Enjoy your stay. V room 854

Room Tip: Buy alcohol on the plane before as the shops their don't sell any booze.

our first time to Egypt and got off to a bad start with a miserable trolly dolly on the thompson flight and no visa card issued on board which meant having to queue to get one at the cattle market of an arrivals area then queing again at passport control and again at the baggage reclaim as none of the screens were turned on and people were waiting at the wrong belts.
Arrived at the resort early evening and given a room with a view of the block opposite but next morning were asked to go to the reception and were offered a free upgade to a better bigger room overlooking the pool which was gratefully accepted. The room was a bit dated but was sotlessly clean and kept that way by the room boy "BUCK " who left towel sculptures and fresh flowers in the room on a regular basis and never stopped smiling for the whole 2 weeks.
The resort itself was kept in good condition by an army of gardners and pool cleaners who working untill midnight to ensure that the gardens lawns and pools were always in top condition and were always happy and ready to chat and engage with you if approached them.
The food was as stated by other reviewers not the best , and a little bit repetative but you could always find some thing to eat and would not starve unless you were the fussiest of eaters.( essan the waiter was brilliant and looked after us at every meal )
The animation team worked very hard in the pool area during the day to get people involved in various activities such as darts. early morning yoga ,and water polo etc.
the evening shows were awfull, a 10 year old outdated film for the children that was turned off before the end every night ( wierd ) and then either chinese dancers , fire jugglers and kareoke to follow .Ricky the entertainment manager needs to up his game and stop having hissy fits and diva moments whenever somebody questions the quality of the shows.
The russians
ah yes .. the first thing we noticed was the amount of russians on the resort .( my wife called the resort little Moscow due to the fact that it was about 90% russians ) and they are without doubt the most arrogant ,rude . and ignorant people i have ever met. they never said please or thank you, tried to push to the front at bars and buffets ( the staff did their best to prevent it ) and they "the russians "filled large bags with food from the breakfast hall to make sure that they didnt starve between breakfast and dinner. by 8.00 oclock all the boiled eggs were in russian bags
The staff at the resort do not like the Russians and always gave priorty to british or other europeans when it came to serving drinks or reserving tables in the dinning room.
The russians were just to thick to realise that a simple please or thank you would get them better sevice.
a big thank you must go to all the staff at the tropical bar.( Rafik, mohamed mahmood, salah ,basam mostafa and mohamed 2 ) they were all brilliant and after two days they Knew what we liked and drinks were waiting for us as we arrived at the bar. We never went up for refills , as soon as the glass was three quarters empty it was topped up . nothing was to much trouble for them and when the sun went down and it got chilly we were given patio heaters next to our table and they would even take them from a russian table and move them closer to ours.
Met some lovely people while there, ( Wayne, duggy, ginger and lyne, heidi and lyndon and a group of Norweigens who made it a memorable holiday )
A special thank you to Tahir ( tito ) at the sonesta beach bar who spoiled us rotten when ever we visited. We would sit at his bar with an ice cold BOTTLE of beer and the russians were only allowed ( due to their rudness ) a tiny little glass of beer that was not much bigger than a thimble ,it was funny to see them look at our bottle and then get their tiny glass and realise that was their lot. ( priceless )
To finish i will say that while the resort and food is not 5 star the staff and service you recieve definitely is so if you dont mind food that is so so and can cope with the russians give it a try as you will get a very warm welcome.

Room Tip: spend some time talking to the staff at the tropical bar and enjoy the benifits of the sevice they p...
