I stayed at the gardinia for a week on my own and wow what a fantastic place to stay. I was made to feel very special by everyone who worked there. The animation team Alice Mac Sara were fab nothing was ever to much trouble. The bar staff were great and work very long hours but always a smile on there faces. Mr Amir the manager was always about asking guests if everything was ok which is a very pleasant surprise as wen on holiday u never see a manager. Altogether with everyone at the hotel everyone from the pool guys to reception made my holiday fantastic I will be returning in a couple of months. Also the food is great always a change never the same thing. So keep up the good work and thankyou all xx

Visited 13-20march 2014 , we went with open minds being very seasoned travellers to egypt, and had read reviews with interest , those who gave 1 star have obviously never been on holiday before, yes its not the london savoy you pay yourmoney and take your choice as bargain holidays go it was brilliant and everyone we met at hotel said same hi light's and lo points there are, the beach is a bus ride away and the decor needs alittle touching up but it is clean the rooms cleaned everyday the food is lovely if you want traditional english go to blackpool or brighton this is another country if you go to the marriott in london you dont expect a choice of sauer krautt and borscht the
biggest plus are the staff

i have been to the gardenia for the last 4 years -11 times in all

i have said before that what a great hotel it is and i cannott think of anything awful to tell you.

the bad reviews are just not happening.

do you think i would go there 11 times if everthing was not perfect ? no, thats why i treat the gardenia as my second home. The management and staff are wonderful and make you feel at home from home.

in my previous reviews i have gone into full details so i will finish by promising you that you will have a great time and as other visitors have said dont be put off by bad reports GIVE THE HOTEL A CHANCE TO SHOW YOU A GOOD (and cheap) holiday in the sun

Room Tip: rooms overlooking the slides

I returned from a week in Gardenia plaza on the 4th of March 2014.
I was slightly concerned by the reviews especially regarding Safety as i was travelling with a toddler but there was no need
on first impression we arrived lateand dinner had finished but all the staff went well out of their way to make sure we had food and prepared a table for us in the restaurant.
The room was extremely clean and the house keepers came everyday even when not really needed.
The pools are clean and pool staff so friendly and fun, including the bar, recreation and animation teams.
If you want to go around picking faults with sticky out wires or cracked tiles, remember you are in Egypt not Europe and these standards are actually amazing to what you would find living in Egypt not holidaying there, trust me, i lived there for 3 years.
It is amazing value for your money. always plenty to eat and drink and sun to sit in.
Remember a small tip means alot too, these guys work tirelessly without complaint for pittance.
Enjoy your stay

My husband and I stayed here from 18th-25th February 2014. We had a lovely week and I honestly don't understand the bad reviews of this hotel. The staff are fantastic and are definitely what make this hotel. The hotel itself needs a little TLC but it's immaculately clean and very comfortable. We had a fantastic holiday!

FOOD - breakfast is cereals, cakes, pancakes (cooked fresh), hot food (potatoes, sausage, eggs, omelette, beans. Lunch is variety of hot food usually chicken, beef, rice, chips, veg and selection of desserts. Dinner is similar - soups, a selection of chicken, beef dishes, rice, vegetables, lasagne, moussaka, some egyptian dishes and desserts are cakes, jellies, gateau, fruit.
The food is hot and fresh and really tasty. (If you want traditional English food - go on holiday to Blackpool)
The tea is really good, I drank more tea here than at home!

ROOM - large apartment with living area including a sofa bed, two chairs, coffee table, full size fridge and tv. Bathroom had sink, shower, loo and hairdryer. Double built in wardrobe with sehleves and hangers. Also a safe (free of charge) which you set your own key code, so you know it's secure. Bedroom had a large kingsize bed (mattress was very hard but not uncomfortable), a tv, a dressing table and two bedside tables with an additional coffee table and chair. Balcony had a table and two chairs and overlooked the pool. Air con in living area and bedroom. Rooms are cleaned daily and staff are great.

BAR - open all the time for drinks. Couldn't fault the service. There's a bar inside and another one outside by the pool area.

POOLS - very clean. Only used the one without the slides. Music playing. Water is very cold! Plenty of sunbeds - did not see one guest 'reserve' a bed with their towel which was nice. Beach towels are free of charge and can be changed as often as you wish. There are three pools in total.

BEACH - the hotel provide a free bus to and from the beach throughout the day. The beach is owned by the hotel and the sunbeds are free to hotel guests. There is a bar at the beach so you can get your all inclusive drinks at the beach too. You can snorkel at the beach (off the end of the jetty) so take your masks etc with you. There's a coral reef there and the fish are amazing. There is a lift down to the beach and toilets/showers too.

ENTERTAINMENT - the team are very friendly but don't push you if you don't want to take part in activities. They have volleyball in the pool, darts, dancing, boules etc going on during the day if you want to take part. At night they have karaoke, shows, trips into Soho Square for £2.
One evening they had an outside barbeque with the usual waiter service and a dance show including belly dancing which was brilliant.

TAXIS - use the blue and white ones outside the hotel and agree a price before you get in the taxi. Always barter the price, they will start you off high. You can easily reduce it by a third.

TIPS - It is expected to tip the person who cleans your room, which we did at the start and end of the week. I've never seen anyone so grateful - he made us a pretty swan with the towels to thank us! We also left a tip in the dining room for the waiters.

POSITIVES - friendly, helpful staff, very clean hotel, lots to do close by, good food and no extra charges for thigns like beach towels, safe, air con etc.

NEGATIVES - There were a lot of flies by the pool which were annoying but we spent more time at the beach where we were 'fly free'. The music by the pool was too loud (but you could use the other pool or go to the beach if you prefer peace and quiet).

DISABILITY - If you have difficulty using stairs, it would be worth asking about the dining area. I didn't spot a lift but there might be one - as the restaurant is on the second floor.

Room Tip: We had a second floor apartment overlooking the pool and it was great.

Visited gardenia for a week with my family after much worry reading the reviews on here I was very reluctant to go hotel is not as bad as some male out although there is a lot of ro for improvement there is a problem with bites around the complex at the min which needs addressing I came home with over 100 and my partner also all over our legs and feet my sure here they are comimg from , food is very basic but always something to eat so you won't go hungry if u are not fussy this hotel will do the job although I would warn ladies not to be on their own with some of the staff as after one staff came to spray our room with bug repellent he got hold of me and kissed my hand making me feel very uncomfortable as I was alone and after complaining to the manager he denied doing it and the manger mr Ahmed just laughed was really no help to me but other than that good holiday

Staying at this hotel with its guest hospitality and group activities was magical from the organised scuba diving to the club dancing and everything in between. Lots of Rissian and British hoiliday makers... Easy shuttle bus transportation to town for shopping and to the beaches for sun and sea.. The pool area was a constant treatment of both luxury by towel personel to the DJ playing music with food available morning till eveining around the pool... I would return there anytime..

Room Tip: Do not go from Cairo by road - Only Fly in to Sharm is recommended!!!
