Reviewed February 18, 2014

gardenia plaza was a brilliant holiday choice as a single traveler it was amazing the staff couldnt do enough for you! they went out of the way to make sure your stay was as good as they could make it for you! the hotel is a little busy at meal times over egyptian holidays but mr amir the manager came up with an alturnative for me and i was delighted! the animation team work very hard night and day to keep the guests informed and active they made my holiday special each and every member of the staff work hard keeping the guests happy the hotel clean and the food and drink service is wonderful with happy faces serving you the best in hospataltiy! food was freshy cooked, lots of choice, my room was lovely, tho the bed a little hard and the hot water a liitle temporimental but on the whole was clean and comfortable. the gardens are well kept and the hotel does what it can to keep bugs at a lower level, free bus service to the beach was great tho only a 15 min walk down to the beach along a dersert road which was amazing!! the all incluisive is also served at the bar on the beach! i had such a great time at gardenia plaza i have re booked again for another 2 weeks in march 14 only 4 weeks after i left!! thank you to each and every member of staff you all should be so proud of the service you give and how happy a guest i was, i be returning time and again!! You probably will not get a cheaper all inclusive in Sharm, so you must allow for certain situations.
The hotel is in need of a good make over, and has some niggling little problems, such as sometimes lack of hot water for showering, although the staff do try hard to rectify, the pools were very cold (late Jan/Feb time) where as the sea was just perfect (72 degrees) so you have a choice. The rooms were okay, cleaned every day with fresh towels and linen, but tired looking. The staff were brilliant, not only incredibly cheerful, polite and intent on making you welcome but actually make your holiday with wonderful humor and service, considering the hours they put in and the wage of £100.00 per month they are a credit to their profession and their country.
The food was fair to good, but one never goes to Egypt for cuisine. We had 21 days holiday and all three of us ate acceptably.
Things to avoid, the Egyptian holidays( we encountered this in our first two weeks) these holiday makers are a nightmare, plus our not so friendly or polite Russians , it is a testament when even the Egyptian staff make comments concerning them, but less said the better, you cannot tar all with the same , but trust me it is very close.
Things to do, plenty of activities, pampering for the ladies, Soho Square a must for shoppers (with no hassle) and of course sun, sun and more sun.
Excellent points, the Red Sea is just wonderful and really is a not to be missed in your life, to have such beautiful fish swimming around you is just a delight, the waters so clear and warm it is really special.

Things not to do. Do not book private transfers to and from the airport, so much cheaper by local taxi (50 LE under a £5.00 ) Get your currency at plenty of exchange places, or from shops or locals we got nearly 12 LE to the pound, take English pounds or Dollars they love them and will give you a great rate. So do not bother getting it at home or at the airport, if you have non, for quick tips give out English pound coins, until you get settled.

If you do go to this hotel a resident taxi drive Ahmed car number 510 is trustworthy a good old driver and very good value, if you go to Namba Bay avoid car no 699 he is a nightmare, you will dine out on the experience if you live but I have never seen a driver counting money with both hands doing 90 miles an hour with no lights on at night before, okay very little traffic, and I did obviously mention my delight with his driving.

Overall, you want a cheap break visit this place, you will come back with some good stories, and a great tan.

John

Again I have had another wonderful stay at the Gardenia Plaza hotel, what can I say? The staff here make this hotel one of the best, the food is generally ok.

ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! This is a 4* resort! however how much 4* treatment do you expect for a few hundred pounds.

Mohammed Ibraham from reception is an all around joker, funny guy, very helpful and will always do his best to sort any issue you have. I wish hotel receptions in England had members of staff with the drive and passion to fix and please that this guy does!

Just remember that if your rooms broken, or your food isn't to your standard, or something else.

Always treat all members of staff with the upmost respect, it's what they deserve and frankly your issues will be resolved much quicker.

Mostafa from the bar, is also an amazing guy, who works quickly. Loves to chat to you, always asks how you are with a friendly smile. This guy is No.1 quality.

When I was there 2 guests were really not happy, I asked them why? They told me their room had a few broken things, they said they weren't happy and didn't like the hotel.

I asked if they had seen the manager to get a room change, or it fixed. They HAD NOT. So you can't really complain if you're not willing to speak to management and alert them of the issue.

If you get bored of the all inclusive restaurants, outside is a small pizza, burger, sandwich bar by the pool next to the shops. You do have to pay there, however I went there and you can get a freshly baked hand made pizza for £220LE / £2.20GBP this is cheap! The best thing, it tastes 10 times better than Pizza Hut!

The hotel still offered free shuttle buses to the beach, and Nama Bay! If you do not wish to wait for these, use the taxi opposite the hotel. There is a taxi driver called Ahmed and you should be paying the following

Hotel to Nama Bay £35LE each way
Hotel to beach £20 LE each way
Hotel to Soho Square £25LE each way

Tell him you've herd about him from his friend James from Manchester and I've told you he's very good and those are the prices. He is the best taxi driver in my opinion, he never tries any funny business. Always sort your price and fix before you get in a taxi.

It's always best to agree with Ahmed a place to pick you up as well, drop him a text or arrange a time and he will collect you. As a lot of taxi drivers from Nama Bay will try and sell you COCAINE & WEED in the taxi.

AHMED WILL NEVER EVER DO THIS,

So just opposite the hotel ask for Ahmed, he's mid 50's large build and short grey hair. Such a nice man!

We stayed at this hotel in November and couldn't wait to come back. It was just as good as last time, but the thing with this hotel is you have to remember you get what you pay for and not to expect the world.

The staff just get better and better, Mohammed from reception still as friendly as always and nothing's to much trouble. Mostafa is still there friendly and very knowledgable about politics anything you want to talk about. However I met another member staff worth mentioning for the conversations and her friendliness, unfortunately last time we missed her in our visit in November due to her being on vacation. Sarah from the animation team, she's so friendly and makes a effort to get to know you and she'll answer any questions you may have on Egypt and how life is there.

The one thing that did let it down was the food, but I should mention before that it was Egyptian school holidays and lot of Egyptians were staying at the hotel. The good basically was cooked just for them and the chips were crunchy and cold. However once the Egyptian school holidays were over the food improved 10 fold. But I found the nicest place to eat was at the outside restaurant, you had to pay but it was cheap and they had burgers, pizzas and chips which were cooked properly and were very nice.

Overall it is worth staying in, but don't expect the world. As I've said I'm returning back in April for a 19 day stay and thinks it's a great hotel. Worth every penny.

The hotel is nice but could do with an update. Service was fantastic and free bus to sharks bay beach and a bar serving water beer coffee etc on the beach for guests -lovely! Only negative is DON'T go to Nama bay if you dislike if you dislike being hassled!
