Just returned from 1 week winter sun holiday and couldn't fault it especially for the price we paid. OK, so the room was tired and old but it was clean with a good, hot shower and It was cleaned daily. The food was OK and there was always something suitable for most tastes, yes it was 'samey' but this is always the case in this type of resort. We were glad that we took the advice of other Tripadvisor tips in taking own larger plastic cups for bar drinks and kettle/tea etc for our room. All in all, a good week away.

My partner and I were looking for a relaxing all inc winter holiday, with a pool, beach and basically somewhere quiet! We found this hotel to be a good price and booked it despite the reviews. We flew with Thomsons and i have to say i will not fly with Thomsons again as we did feel a little like battery hens, as they seem to be trying to squeeze in as many passengers in as they can. No leg room and no meals, as 5 hours is now not classed as long haul, also, no entertainment on the TV screens , which surely costs nothing????
We were 5 minutes from the hotel so transfer wasn't too bad after landing.. We found our room to be clean and tidy and over looking the pool area. We had a bedroom. lounge, kitchen area and balcony.
We had no complaints about the food, there was plenty of choice and always enjoyed our meals. We had a choice of red and white wine with our meals and these were served in glasses. If you are drinking outside, then it is served in plastic cups. Seeing the way the Russians can behave when they are drinking i feel that this understandable and safer for everyone. However, larger glasses would have been much better to quench a thirst. There was a lot of Russians in the first week but not as many in the second week. Their behaviour is a lot to be desired but if you like people watching, it can be very entertaining, watching the Neanderthal man and their Babushka's attempts to mate at the bar, on the dance floor or in the pool.. feeding time is also a sight to see!! Staff were fantastic and were always polite and welcoming, it does help to be the same back Shakran (Thank You) goes a long way. The beach was 5 mins on the shuttle bus,the beach to the right is quieter with an all inc bar. Beach to the left had restaurants and bars. It is excellent for snorkeling and there are fish of all colors. shapes and sizes. The Animation Team were excellent and do a fantastic job with limited resources.I honestly dont know how they keep going all day and night and still be so happy and friendly all the time. The Hotel is a little out of the way, but we were happy with this and if we needed more of the night life we went on the shuttle bus to Namma Bay which was only approx 15 mins away.. The only criticism i have is that there was not much choice in soft drinks ie tonic water for Gin, or Tomato Juice for a Bloody Mary and also the music around the pool was very repetitive. The Spa also lacked privacy. Despite the downsides we would definitely go back there as we felt it was very good value for money and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Had 12 days here and enjoyed them all. The hotel is in need of a basic makeover as it is looking tired. Pool and recreation areas were very good as were the entertainments crew. Take part in the fun and games and have a laugh.
Not enough glasses for drinks!!!! plastic vending cups used in the bars and dining hall, bearing in mind January is not an overly busy period. Food ok.
Staff superb and helpful. Special thanks to the cleaners, the unsung heroes.
Got what we paid for and had a great time

Came back 28 jan 2012. 3 star at best. Animation team consisted of 1 Brit 2 Egyptians and 4 Russians. Only the leader really made an effort with us. The Brit had her clicky friends and the English speaking Russians didn't bother to even say hello! Food ok. Isolated only place to walk to was the beach 25 mins walk away. Shuttle to beach ok if you let the Russians barge in front of you. The Russians very rude and don't queue for anything. Nice pools but very cold water the heated pool wasn't! Room ok. Taxi to Naama bay Don't pay more than 4quid English Soho Square nice if fancy a meal out expensive but nice. Don't pay more than 3quid for taxi

this hotel was advertised as a "recommended" holiday by tellytext. Unless your a fly I wouldn't recommend this to any1!! Now don't get me wrong I'm all for "you get what you pay for" and I admit we got a cheaper deal but then spent hundreds of pounds to eat out as the food was far from a 4 star (international or Egyptian). Some of the staff where very helpful but others where down right rude!!!! I had important medication stolen from my room and the customer service manager was far from helpfull!!! The flys are awful I counted 54 on my friends sun lounger. The place is over run with flys!!!!!! It's situated on a "land fill"! It won't put me off Egypt but it will make me think twice about where I choose to stay in future! For bog standard accommodation this is for you but make sure you pack a fly squatter. Service is slow unless your a male. Women are 3rd class citizens. The animation team was dreadful imposing. We went on one evening out and it ended in my friend being insulted by a male member of the team! We where made to feel uncomfortable and far from welcome. On the plus side we met some wonderful people and had a good time because after all life is what you make it :-)

Room Tip: We stayed in 1222 and this seemed to be the "nicer" side of the hotel

Good points
lovely pool areas
spacious rooms
helpful staff
enthusiastic animation team
hotel bus to soho square and the bays
location from airport is nice and close
quad biking trip, definately worth a visit
weather, always guaranteed

Bad points
the food, this is repetative with very low quality on the meat
restaurant, is hot and overcrowded
the locals, they run the hotel and from what i understand have timeshares in the hotel. whilst everyone is on holiday to have a good time my experience was rudeness and children running around unsupervised.
small plastic cups for your drinks, pretty much 2 mouthfulls and its gone. the bar staff will fill up your pre purchased water bottle though which is a plus
smoke, especially in the lobby area
bedding wasnt changed once in a week
beach, hotel is not on the beach it is a bus ride away and is not pleasant

overall 1 week was enough here and you get what you pay for. take heed of the negative points and if these would impact on the quality of your trip dont stay here.
despite the negatives we still had a good holiday, would return to egypt but not the gardenia plaza

Just returned from a one week break at the Gardenia Plaza and we had a fab time. Shared a twin room with a mate which was a decent size, big beds and had air con and a fridge. Room was serviced everyday with fresh towels.

The staff here are spot on, especially the entertainment team! Special shout out to Amy and Ivan who spent many hours entertaining us/looking after us on nights out!

Food OK you get what you pay for must say they had a choice of potatoes/rice/pasta/chicken/fish every night. Booze is the local stuff, drinkable though....ask for a bing bong at the bar! Its the stuff hangovers are made of!

My advice would be to ignore the bad reviews and relax!
