“A FEW EXTRA TIPS”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

/We have had a very relaxing week at this hotel. It is basic but good value. The weather has been wonderful and the snorkelling good and we manged to see the sea turtle

We had problems with mosquitoes the first few nights. Receoption will come and spray the room but we would recommend that you take some plug ins to be sure.

Don't change money at the airport there is a much better rate of excchange at the bank opposite the hotel. You put sterliing notes into the machine and egypitan money is dispensed at a good rate 9.8 Egyptian pounds last week.

There is also a fixed price Carrefour up the road where you can get water, snacks and most extras you will need.

We enjoyed the chill pool by the reception which is just for adults ; there is no music and the pool is lovely and warm.. The staff need to be trained to politely send any familes away. On two occasions we had to ask reception to remove the noisy children out of the pool. This is a really lovely area which should be cherished and an extra not found at most hotels .

We really loved the location of the hotel and going up into the hustle and bustle for our evening meal and then having a coffee at one of the many cafes/bars

Just had a week here having decided to try it on the last trip.
Main reason - We LOVE Sinai Divers, and this is the hotel they're attached to.

Ok, it may look old and tired, but actually, I really enjoyed this one for a number of reasons.

Lets get the bad out of the way first, even though it isn't really ALL that bad.

The standard room: On their website looks quite modern. Reality check ! It's teeny tiny, poky, and the one we had (157) had the smallest tv I've ever seen, with a fridge big enough to sleep in and loud enough to rival the planes coming in overhead. They are chalet type affairs in blocks of four, which are totally fine if you're there purely for diving as you won't be spending much time in them I'd imagine. Ours however, was facing the back wall and quite devoid of any sunlight at all. Worth noting that they do not have patio doors as you'd expect in most hotels rooms, just a lockable front door and a single shuttered window. We changed ours for something in the main block, which was more like a hotel room we're used to, and we were much much happier for doing so (our side the rooms ranged from the 400's to 600's for your info).

On to the good parts:
Having stayed in 8 hotels around Sharm, the food seemed on a par with most, not too bad, but certainly not fine dining ) Having said that..I'd recommend bed and breakfast as you really can't walk for more than three minutes without stumbling across a restaurant or bar. (They operate a cumulative discount scheme in the closest restaurants for hotel guests too - so prices aren't too shocking)

1) The location is fantastic for Naama Bay, and it's right on the beach (literally a three minute walk from even the furthest room). A right turn at the promenade will have you in the centre of Namma bay in five minutes walking time.

2) Sinai Divers, right there on the promenade and the house reef is quite lovely for getting back into the swing of diving. Nice n easy, and totally stress free with plenty to see.

3) Ghazala Beach Bar is lovely to spend a little time in watching the world go by and they don't do a bad lunch menu. Lots of evening events there too if you're the lively sort.

4) There's a bank close by in the street behind the dive centre, where you'll get a MUCH better exchange rate than at reception in the hotel, and a couple other little shops for things like water, biccies and snacks at decent prices.

5) The pharmacy right there will not charge you the earth either (always handy to know)

6) Aside from anything else, when we asked the housekeeping lad for a kettle...we actually got one !! YAY !!! So take some teabags and go buy a little carton of milk from the side street shop for 3 Egyptian...and Enjoy ))

Would I stay here again? yes indeed. It's not the most modern but it certainly has one of the best locations around Naama.

This was our second stay 'B & B' at the Ghazala Beach Hotel - this time we had requested a bungalow when we booked and were allocated a bungalow set back just before the pool area. The bungalow was clean, if a little tired looking, it did however, oddly enough, contain a full sized domestic fridge on which stood the television! The beds were firm, as were the pillows(!) but the bed linen was spotless and changed evey day by our bungalow boy, Memhed, who was very friendly and very concerned that everything was OK.- his towel sculptures were fabulous becoming more and more complicated and larger each day. The pool bar staff were very friendly, as were the pool attendant and the young man, who helped place our towels on the sunbeds (with such precision it ws a running joke as to who could be the neatest, needless to say he won every time!) Amazingly, the beach bar staff recognised us from our stay last year - we hadn't realised we'd spent so much time in there! Everywhere we went within the Hotel, the restaurants, the beach and bars, the porters, all the staff were wonderfully friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel is, to be truthful, is looking a little worse for wear and could do with alot of TLC. It doesn't come out too good when compared to it's close neighbours, But having stayed in one it's neighbours, going back to the Ghazala Beach was like putting on your old comfortable battered slippers after an extremely long day in expensive, flash, designer high heels - I know which one I prefer. I'm looking forward to going back to The Ghazala Beach next year.

Room Tip: The bar in reception is really handy for a nightcap, also the coffee there is really very good

This was my second visit at Ghazala Beach and on each visit stayed in the bungalow accomodation. Rooms kept very clean. Air conditioning rather noisy. Comfortable bed and nice bed linen and towels. Good power shower with hot water always available although it was difficult to regulate the water temperature. The accomodation can be rather dark but is private and no noise from adjoining bungalows. Grounds kept clean and great location directly on the beach and just minutes from the main area of Naama Bay. Helpful staff on the beach but found other staff within the hotel and restaurant unwilling to speak or smile. Having stayed at the neighbouring hotels (Hilton Fayrouz and Jolie Ville ) I would not class Ghazala beach as four star in comparison. Breakfast is adequate but the lack of fresh juices ( these had to be paid for ) and coffee from a machine and no kettles in the rooms was disappointing. Having said that, I would have no hesitation staying in this hotel again and consider it to be good value for money and the late room check out is excellent.

Clean and tidy Beach hotel and grounds, Pool and beach are very good. Rooms are not 4 star facility, more like three star. AC in the room was individual and rather old fashioned and Noisy. Room service for any small needs later on in the evening needed 3 calls! We didn't eat in hotel restaurant in the evenings but plenty of choices in Promenade in the back of the Hotel. Egyptian / Lebanese restaurant TAM TAM was very good. Swiss ice cream bar worth trying.
Spa / message facility in the hotel grounds is very acceptable.
Be prepared for smoking enviornment though. We had superb weather in mid November.

Room Tip: Hotel only has 2 floors, bungalows are around the pool area. No central A/C, all individual room N...

Dear ”skraha”

Firstly thank you for taking the time to write about your recent holiday. Thank you for your kind description regarding our hotel and gardens. We are happy to read that you did enjoy our Egyptian & Lebanese a la carte restaurant which offers plenty of choice & very traditional oriental meals and twice per week an oriental folklore show. We are regretful to hear that your room was not up to your expectations. We were sorry to hear about your slight delay regarding room service, which we have communicated with the relevant department to avoid in the future.
Sincerely thank you for your review since it always helps us to improve certain areas needed.
Warmest regards,
