“fantastic holiday”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

just returned from a weeks holiday at sharm cliff resort, the staff are first rate, from the management who did everything they could to ensure you had a wonderful time , the entertainment team who really made the holiday enjoyable, to the bar staff and pool boys who would do anything for you, the staff were very friendly and helpful.the rooms were kept very clean and were very spacious, all areas of the hotel was clean and tidy, food was very good but sometimes a bit repetitive.bar for all inclusive closed a little early at eleven and no wine on the all inclusive, lots of eastern europeans who could come across has being ignorant and rude. naam bay was clean ,tidy , and you had lots of banter with the locals all in good taste. a great holiday overall would definetly go again

Room Tip: rooms with pool view are not as quite as ones with garden view, due to people sitting outside the ba...

We stayed at Sharm Cliff resort from 8th November for two weeks, and had a wonderful time. The best feature of this hotel must surely be the wonderful staff....they were very attentive, nothing was too much bother for them...and at no time did i ever feel that anyone was looking for a tip, that simply didn't happen.Rooms were bright and spacious, cleaned daily to a good standard. The pool area was fab, and the pool staff , massage staff, bar staff and entertainment staff made it such fun...a real big thanks to Adam, Foudo, Mohammed, Hassan, Ali, Magdy , Rafat, Mohammed, Dominika , Magda, Amiro, were exceptional staff members and kept us very well watered and entertained. Also the guest relations manager Irek was very friendly and always around for any queries. The food was very repetitive, but hot and well cooked and tasty. All in all, a wonderful holiday and a big thanks to all at Sharm Cliff from the loud Scotsman

Reviewed November 19, 2012 via mobile

We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Sharm Cliff Resort. Having stayed twice at Sharm Holiday and thoroughly enjoying it, we decided to give the sister hotel a whirl.

Location - this is fantastic. The stone steps down to the bay are a bit risky in places with bits missing and there is a strong smell of sewage near the bottom (not the hotels fault though...). We found that you could access the bay through the building work at the front of the hotel (although this isn't recommended by the management and there is a sign at the top to try to dissuade you), but even with the building work, we ultimately found this a safer option.

Rooms - We were given a large room at the far end of the hotel overlooking the gardens. The only drawback was that we were given a twin room rather than a double but we just pushed the beds together. The air conditioning was a godsend as it was still rather hot (early 30's) while we were there and there was the standard room safe and fridge as with Sharm Holiday. Rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels given daily. The only problem we witnessed was young Russian people coming in at all hours and running up and down the corridors, shouting at the top of their voices and thinking it hilarious to slam their bedroom doors repeatedly. The gardens were beautiful to look out on and we got the sun all day on the veranda.

Food & drink - This seemed to bs aimed more at the Russian guests again, but there was always a couple of meat options at lunch and dinner so there was always something even the pickiest of eaters could try. Drinks came in cardboard coke cups which was a bit of a pain as you had to keep returning to the bar. That said, there was never a problem at the pool bar for refills but the young chap in the lobby bar made you feel a bit uncomfortable going back for drinks and as the beer isn't on tap in there, you often got the remainder of a bottle from the previous guest which was invariably flat. As I said though, no problems at the pool bar.

Staff - all staff apart from the surly barman in the lobby bar, couldn't do enough for you. Everyone always had a ready smile and greeting for us from the gardeners to the cleaners to the reception staff. Magdy (bar manager) was a lovely guy and always had us laughing and chats with us. The towel guys were equally as lovely and would do anything to help. The animation team would come and try to get you to be involved in activities and a polite 'no thanks' was all it needed if you didn't want to participate.

Beach -We only ventured to Habada beach this time as we found Wind beach quite crowded last time. Habada beach is fantastic for snorkelling and the array of fish swimming around you were stunning. The steps down to this beach would be a problem for anyone even slightly infirm due to the fact there are so many and quite steep in places. That said, the fantastic beach more than made up for the trek up and down.

Pools - we found these very clean and adequate for the numbers of guests. There were always plenty of sunbeds although if you ended up at the far pool a bit of sunbed manoeuvring to catch the sun was inevitable due to the accommodation blocking the sun.

Overall, we had another good holiday from the Sharm group. If you get chance though, watch the hilarious marketing video on channel 0. It certainly made us chuckle!!

Thank you very much for your review, and photos.

We are glad that you tried Sharm Cliff this time, and had an enjoyable stay here. Sharm Cliff is similar to Sharm Holiday in many ways, but it has a slightly different atmosphere, some people prefer it to Holiday. But both hotels are great to stay in, and the staff will provide excellent service.

Thank you for your positive feedback on our location, rooms, and helpful staff. Also about Hadaba beach and the pools here.

It really is a shame about the smell near the stairs to Naama Bay. We have been working on ways to improve this, but it is difficult, because as you said it is not on hotel land or our fault. We will continue to try and resolve this issue though because we want to make our guests as comfortable as possible. If you do not wish to or are not able to take the stairs, there is also a free shuttle bus that goes to Naama Bay, which you can take from outside reception regularly.

There are a few quieter areas of the hotel, please let us know when you book that you prefer a room in a quieter area, usually this will be possible, just ask.

I will let the general manager know about the lobby bar barman, thank you for letting us know.

We hope that you will consider staying here again next time you are in Sharm, thanks.

I have returned yesterday from Sharm Cliff after staying for one month from 11 October to 11 November. Every one of the staff are so happy, friendly and will help with any information needed to make the stay in Sharm fantastic. The animation team with Amiro, Magda and Dominica talked to all the guests so that they could all join in with the games and socialising w ith other guests. All the animation team speak several languages and are always happy and always make the guests happy. Irek always is extremely attentive to all the guests. At the swmming pool Mohamed Mustofa, Adam, Fouda, Ali and Mohamed are always a pleasure to speak to. I and my family have had the best massages ever by Ali - thanks again Ali........
I have seen the adverse comments regarding the pool which surprises me. I have stayed at Sharm Cliff 5 times this year and every morning the pool is checked by taking samples of the water and cleaning with chemicals (which do not affect the eyes of the swimmers) are every night the late duty staff brush the pool.
The food was always plentiful, and varied. Of course there were no foods containing pork as standard in a Muslim country. Aymen, Radu, Said, 'Antonio Banderas' and all the restaurant staff were friendly and fast even when there were so many difficult guests over the Muslim holiday of Ede. Also the bar staff in the pool bar and lobby bar were always friendly and helpful, again even when many guests themselves were so often demanding and rude. I wish I could be that professional if I was doing their job. The rooms were very clean and cleaning staff always determined to work to the highest standard. The staff at reception, especially Abdul, will help with any request whether it is help with using the available internet, giving information about local places to visit or helping guests entering their rooms when keys have been mislaid and also helping how to use the safe in the room.(Irek's favourite job!!!)
My only criticisms are that the management have decided to change the Naama Bay beach. The original beach called Wind Beach was beautiful, comfortable, relaxing and spacious. The beach now in use is crowded and difficult to get a space to sit down. Also the swimming area was restricted to swimming between the two wooden walkways to the boats. I therefore continued to use Wind Beach where I and my family were warmly welcomed.
My other point is that the drivers of the shuttle buses to Hadaba and Naama Bay have been instructed not to have the arabic music playing. I miss this very much as it added to the excitement of going to the beach and also it alwa ys seemed to make everyone so happy. Yallah yallah yallah .....

Thank you to all the Sharm Cliff staff for again giving me such a wonderful time.

Cindy A. London

Room Tip: pool rooms are very convenient for families with children.

You are correct about the pool, and thank you for letting guests know about that. We have very high standards of cleanliness with the pools, and the hotel in general.

We will take your feedback about Wind Beach, and the mini bus music into consideration. Thank you for letting us know, we appreciate your feedback.

We are just back after 10 days at Sharm cliff, and we had a fantastic holiday!
The hotel has a great location with breath taking views. It is very clean and kept in very good order. All staff are friendly and helpful and all speak when you walk past.

Ok so the food is very much the same BUT it is the same in other places we have stayed in sharm! The eating area is very clean and has great waiting staff that clean the tables away quickly.

Our only complaint would be the paper cups the beer is served in, and also one of the younger bar men was very very very ignorant and clearly did not want to be there. But hey that was just one member of staff and was not going to trash our holiday!!

OK so there is a good mix of guests ranging from russian through to turkish WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??? It is a holiday location and even these people deserve a holiday! Surely you treat people as you would like to be treated yourself? We never came across anybody rude or even que jumping, so they dont say thank you or smile why should YOU make an issue of this?

Rant over
Any way due to the hotels great location if you dont fancy eating similar food on a daily basis just nip down to naama bay as there are plenty of eating places and it is so cheap too.

To be fair you can read as many reviews as you like but YOUR HOLIDAY IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!!
Sharm cliff is clean, comfy, good location with friendly staff and I would say give it a go!

We will be booking there again thats for sure

Thank you very much for your review.

It's great to hear that you had a fantastic holiday here. We appreciate your compliments on our location, cleanliness, and friendly helpful staff.

We are aware that some guests would prefer glass to paper cups, and will take your comments into consideration. In the mean time, guests are welcome to take their own drinking glass if they want, and we will be happy to fill it for you. Also please note that the paper cups can be refilled or you can get more, and different kinds of alcohol in different cups etc, free as part of all inclusive.

Thank you again for your review, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.

well i returned a week ago having spent 11days at sharm cliff with my son, daughter and 3 grandaughters aged 6,8 and 10 and what a wonderful holiday we had. i am very well travelled but this is my first time in Egypt but not my last i cant wait to go back. The magic is Sharm Cliff and its staff they made us so welcome and could not do enough to please. From mohammed who cleaned our room with a smile and cheery greeting every day, the bar staff, the waiting staff in the restaurant reception, just any member of staff poolside and the animation team Amiro, Magda and Dominika were absolutely wonderful. Irek the guest relations manager said to us one day that when he came 3 years ago he felt a magic spirit there and stayed I can see why we really did not want to leave and that is a first time experience for me. Fouda had our towels on our sunbeds every morning(without being tipped) we did anyway because we felt we wanted to. The staff work extremely long hours but the smile and welcome when they pass you is the same at the beginning or end of their shift I came away feeling they were all personal friends. The rooms are very clean, the pool is cleaned daily and every effort is made for your comfort and to ensure a happy holiday. Naama bay is just 112 steps away or a free shuttle bus is available, we loved it down there too so very late nights because we didnt want to miss the entertainment the girls loved the mini disco too. Food as with any all inclusive is repetative but you will never starve the children never complained once thats a FIRST! If it doesnt suit to eat out is so ridiculously cheap its not worth worrying about, they try very hard to please an international clientelle but as always you cant please everyone. I have been on 5 star cruises but the service at Sharm cliff matched any i have received anywhere. It was an emotional time leaving also a first for me. I cant wait to go back next year where i fell i will meet up with old friends.

we just got back from sharm cliff resort holiday we picked this hotel because it had such good reviews but now we back most off these the staff must have written because it was nothing like the reviews, the rooms were lovely and spacious and clean, and the pool attendents houda and mohammed was great they came over everyday to us and had a conversation and were really friendly.as for the bar staff were ignorant when we went for drinks which we had to drink coke as they were very limited in alcohol that we cud have,we asked for cokes and we got half of paper cup which wasnt very good i asked for diet coke wich had been outta of fridge for a while and was warm so he topped it with loads of ice which made it watery and not nice,we paid all inclusive and the food was terrible any english food we had to pay for which i thought was ina propriate considering we was english and we paid all inclusive,as my hubby suffers with his tummy and couldnt and i wouldnt have expected to eat wot they was serving, the hotel was full of russians and egyptians which was ok until the egyptian came they juice in a morning was no more watery and it was decent juice and they got food served in there rooms which WERNT ROOM SERVICE,wen we went o bar and the egyptians pushed in front the bar staff would serve them and say nothing they got treat like royalty,we ate twice in the hotel and wasnt well after that plus i would rather have starved than eat anything else there, everything was luke warm and not the temperature it was supposed to be served at,there was a russian infront of my husband which picked a serving spoon up and tasted the food and then put the spoon back down and the restaurant staff never changed the spoon,we love sham and will be visiting it again but we wont be staying at sharm cliff again even if was only hotel standing,if u want to ignore the reviews then thats up to you we dont expect the ritz but expect better service and to treat english better in this hotel we dint expect spending most of our money buying food.this hotel not for the faint hearted

We are sorry to hear that your stay was not as enjoyable as it could have been.

Thank you for your compliments about our lovely, spacious, clean rooms. Also about our helpful, friendly pool attendants.

I know it's not entirely relevant, but in future please try to write in clearer English. It may be hard for people with English as a second language to understand some parts of your review due to the amount of errors, and lack of commas etc.

Firstly, you are welcome to bring your own glass for alcohol, if you prefer it to paper cups. The staff will not mind filling your glass for you, some guests have mentioned doing this in previous reviews. Although the cups are not huge, you can ask for free refills as part of all inclusive. Also, I will pass on the comment about leaving drinks out to management, so that the bar staff can be reminded about this, thanks.

For breakfast, if you don't like the juice there are other options. We serve tea, coffee, juice, and a variety of soft drinks.

We have a UK recognised Cristal Certificate in Food Hygeine. Our kitchen is kept very clean, and food prepared hygeinically and freshly. I can assure you that any sicknesses you had while in the hotel was not related to the food in any way. Some guests, particularly those coming from colder climates, and especially in the first couple of days, can get heat sickness. That is simply due to your body adjusting to the change of temperature, and the high heat here. As lovely as sharm is, people need to be aware that it is still in a dessert, and you should bring sun protection, drink plenty of water, and stay in the shade wherever possible. The hotel has many shaded areas, and there are always enough umbrellas above sun loungers for guests to use. Also please be aware, the tap water in Sharm in not drinkable, the hotel only serves bottled water, but if you buy things outside the hotel, be careful that they have not washed any food in the tap water etc, as this can give you an upset stomach.

The menu is designed to cater for a variety of tastes, but when in Egypt it's good to try Egyptian food too. We would love to have more guests from the UK, but currently there are not enough staying here at one time to justify changing the whole menu to suit British tastes. The room service menu is designed specifically to cater for British tastes, and is very reasonably priced, cheaper than buying a mean in Naama Bay or ordering in pizza, in fact pizza is on the menu too.

As you said, there are many good reviews about Sharm Cliff. To future guests: please read a number of reviews before making any judgements on our hotel, thank you.
