first trip to Egypt, and first holiday for a couple of years, so when i booked it, and then a week later it all kicked off over there, i thought great.. But any worries or doubts about safety were quickly squashed as soon as we arrived. Extra security and stringent checks at the airport, soon put your mind at rest, and as soon as we arrived at our hotel, we were made to feel extremely welcome and safe.
We pulled up to the hotel, and we were the only ones that got off our coach, but as soon as we entered the lobby, i felt that we were the lucky ones.
We were given our key, and then the porter took us and our bags to the room, and showed us how everything worked etc, and left us to enjoy our holiday.
The room was spacious and clean, and suited our needs perfectly. Yes they could do with updating, but they are totally fine and cleaned on a daily basis, with towel changes, inc complementary beach towels changed every day as well.
The grounds are fantastic and very well maintained, pools seem to blend into each other, like a giant lagoon, with islands and bridges crossing over it. Loads of sunloungers and 4 poster sun beds, and even a man-made beach.
On the complex, there are various restaurants and bars, we tried them all, and the food is of a very good standard in all of them, especially Ofogo's, so make sure you book the restaurants, one day in advance to get a place.
Bar men and restaurant staff are all friendly, and will keep your drink or plate topped up if you wish. nothing seems too much trouble, and the chefs will knock you something up if you cant see what you like, or if it has ran out they will get it. best thing is that most of the food is fresh and cooked to order. Please take note that the hotel caters for a large number of different nationality's, predominantly German, who we found friendly and polite. but some peoples food taste's our different, we enjoyed it all tho'.
Entertainment wise, there isn't a lot going on at the hotel, gala night is fun, but the disco and other shows seem a bit lame, dont know if its because it was quiet, but thats our opinion.
Beach is across the road and through the ghazala beach hotel, only a couple of minutes walk, But cross at the place where the crossing man is, as the Egyptian drivers are a bit erratic !!
The beach is fantastic, with hundreds of free sunloungers and parasols on your own private beach. Please note, that there is a free all inc beach bar on this beach, people are getting confused by the beach bar in the middle that you have to pay for, ours is on the right as you walk on the beach, next to the spa treatment area.
Water is lovely and warm, with fantastic little reefs for exploring and snorkelling, i paid £6.00 for mine over there and went almost every day. every reef fish you can imagine, from parrot fish to clown fish etc etc, truly beautiful. but dont touch ..
NAAMA BAY itself is bustling and a bit chaotic, the center is just 5 min walk from hotel, but if you like to haggle and get a bargain, and believe me there are some to be had, then you will enjoy it. if you don't want all the hassle from eager shop keepers, then you can always go to Soho square just a 5 min taxi ride, for a more relaxed shopping and eating and drinking experience.
we loved the hotel and all the staff there, Jane from red sea was lovely and very helpful, as was our rep, and we will definitely be going back, the location is fantastic, and hotel is great.
Thank you red sea holidays for a wonderful Egypt experience.
