Please check in advance that this hotel is going to honour your prepaid accommodation voucher?

We were left in the lurch in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency after an exhaustive tour of Egypt because the Hyatt made up a story about how our prepaid reservation had been cancelled when it clearly had not. They were shown Otel's website and the booking. The reception staff were arrogant They said the hotel was now full and they had booked our room elsewhere tbut they had a room at a rate of $465 USD for two nights and $565 USD for the remainder of our stay. We had already paid Otel.com £555 GBP for 5 nights B&B on aconfirmed booking at the Hyatt Regency and presented our voucher. I paid them this amount in the hope they would resolve the issue and also because i did not want it to cloud over our holiday.

In hindsight my guess is they were simply profiteering and we were gazumped. Otel.com did not assist in resolving the issue.

The expensive room we had a constant leak from the toilet flush reservoir. The toilet/shower glass doors did not stay closed. The furniture knobs looked cheap made with plywood nailed together.

Putting aside the above the hotel itself is in a good location and the beach is nice and pleasant to relax. The thai restaurant is very good also.

Room Tip: Check they will honour your booking before arrival

Had a pretty bad experience here after a great experience in le meridien Giza. The sea view rooms are most definitely not all what should be called sea view. Any room with a 0 as it's second digit will be on the ground floor with a block in front of it and therefore have exceptionally limited sea views. I pointed out to the manager that the sea view room picture on the website is a decent sea view and that was what i was expecting. He shrugged and said that was not a sea view room but a sea front room. In my book that's verging on fraudulent. The rooms are in a very poor state of repair and not up to what one would consider 5* standard, In our room the door lock didn't function properly, the wardrobe doors didn't close, the toilet flush broke several times and wasn't properly fixed, there were tiles missing in the bathroom, the aircon was seriously loud and none of the furniture matched! In a 3 star this would all be acceptable in a 5* it just isn't.

The hotel menus all say "all taxes included", an unambiguous statement one would think however upon checkout you will find another tax levied upon everything you have paid. If the false advertising was verging on fraudulent saying all taxes are included and then adding an extra one is actually fraudulent. Very disappointing.

The hotel also advertises a free shuttle bus but it runs 4 times a day at random times and is next to useless.

Dive shop is great and the staff there are excellent.

The rest of the hotel is actually pretty nice and most of the staff are great but the lack of view, sub standard rooms and hidden charges leave a sour taste.

Room Tip: Don't get a ground floor room, don't expect them to be 5* standard

please dont book this hotel through Thomsons as we have had the worse holiday ever I have been to egypt for the last 5 years and never have I had such a bad experiance we paid 35 to upgrade to half board when we got there we were told we could spend 20 if we went over that we would have to pay the diffrence Thomsons would only say that it is up to the hotel how they charge for evening meals they even charged us for a meal we had in our room as we could not face the barrage in the reastaurant we didnt mind paying for the service but as we had paid for our food we thought that was the least they could do,as the hotel was empty they let the rooms to locals children were running around the buffet reasturant out of control picking up food and putting it back drinking the drinks then putting the half drunk caraff back for other people to come along and pick it up it was disgusting some of the waiters said they were out of control this was meant to be 5 star a la cart you get treated better at mc donalds there were people swimming fully clothed not very hygenic children in nappies were sat in the hot tubs it was very unpleasant you could not fault the waiters or reception staff they tried to be helpful but as for hotel management and thompson I will never use them again

Room Tip: make sure you get full sea view

The Hyatt Regency is built around several pools and located on a slope by the sea. There are coral reefs just by the shore. Staff are very attentive and friendly and there are several restaurants to choose from. Pretty much, there is no reason to leave the hotel compound unless for diving trips or excursions, as everything can be found on site. It is a beautiful place and we hope to be back.
