although i booked knowing it was 3 star i still expected some quality. I requested to stay in the Jasmine part of the hotel after reading the reviews as this has been updated, however it was clearly in desperate need of a cash injection, painting the exterior buildings is not upgrading in my opinion.
I had 2 rooms 2103 and 2104 which is a fab location with a garden right beside the quiet pool which we as a family used.
the tiles around the pool are all broken, and both my children and I all ended up with cuts to our feet. Towels were being put out as early as 10pm the night before on sunbeds to secure a bed. I even witnessed the pool boy putting towels on lots of beds when no one was there and when people arrived he took there towel card and a 'tip' so clearly they were paying him for securing beds.
only adults get a towel card, children do not get one so you need to take your own towels, the beach is a 10 min walk if you cut through the Hilton Hotel. which we did after the second day.
to get to the beach through the hilton, come out of the hotel and turn right, walk down to the first bridge (in the centre of the road) and cross continue through the Hilton hotel (if you turn your band over it then becomes white and many used the Hilton beach), then once you come through the Hilton turn right and continue until you see the 'Viva' beach sign . it is the last beach and is no more than the last few meters of beach, in my opinion NOT worth visiting- however its bar is very friendly and the staff are very attentive.
you need to get a beach card from the hotel which you hand in and it is just a head count, towels are avaliable here free, but all drinks are chargable and only accept cash.
food wise, it is disgraceful, the food was soup, salad, chicken on bone, rice, potatoe, beef dish (very chewy) and a fish dish, i ended up eating rice and potato in the resteraunt as i really didnt like the food and im not a fussy eater.
we found hard rock cafe on the last night which was excellent, for 5 people it was £45 for 3 courses, food was very good.
back to the hotel, it is true about the tiny plastic cups, lots of guests took disposable pint glasses , as they are smaller than child party size.
for pool snacks at the quiet pool there was chicken sandwich and cheese pizza served and in the lively pool chips and burgers. this doesnt start at 11 though they are served only twice around 12:30 and 3pm so not from 11-5 like there suppose to.
the towels and bedding in the room are all stained, its very obvious as there all white, the bathrooms are very baddly tiles and grouting is almost none exsistant, i really could go on but it would be huge- so if you expect LESS than butlins then go , if not really consider a much higher star rating as it really is bad quality and not worth the money.
on a plus the water park is next door and very good, they take photos and the cd is £21 for about 40 pictures . it s also cheaper to book tickets here with the thompson rep, yet cheaper to book other trips with the other guys in the reception area.
