“2 star at a push”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

although i booked knowing it was 3 star i still expected some quality. I requested to stay in the Jasmine part of the hotel after reading the reviews as this has been updated, however it was clearly in desperate need of a cash injection, painting the exterior buildings is not upgrading in my opinion.
I had 2 rooms 2103 and 2104 which is a fab location with a garden right beside the quiet pool which we as a family used.
the tiles around the pool are all broken, and both my children and I all ended up with cuts to our feet. Towels were being put out as early as 10pm the night before on sunbeds to secure a bed. I even witnessed the pool boy putting towels on lots of beds when no one was there and when people arrived he took there towel card and a 'tip' so clearly they were paying him for securing beds.

only adults get a towel card, children do not get one so you need to take your own towels, the beach is a 10 min walk if you cut through the Hilton Hotel. which we did after the second day.
to get to the beach through the hilton, come out of the hotel and turn right, walk down to the first bridge (in the centre of the road) and cross continue through the Hilton hotel (if you turn your band over it then becomes white and many used the Hilton beach), then once you come through the Hilton turn right and continue until you see the 'Viva' beach sign . it is the last beach and is no more than the last few meters of beach, in my opinion NOT worth visiting- however its bar is very friendly and the staff are very attentive.
you need to get a beach card from the hotel which you hand in and it is just a head count, towels are avaliable here free, but all drinks are chargable and only accept cash.

food wise, it is disgraceful, the food was soup, salad, chicken on bone, rice, potatoe, beef dish (very chewy) and a fish dish, i ended up eating rice and potato in the resteraunt as i really didnt like the food and im not a fussy eater.
we found hard rock cafe on the last night which was excellent, for 5 people it was £45 for 3 courses, food was very good.

back to the hotel, it is true about the tiny plastic cups, lots of guests took disposable pint glasses , as they are smaller than child party size.

for pool snacks at the quiet pool there was chicken sandwich and cheese pizza served and in the lively pool chips and burgers. this doesnt start at 11 though they are served only twice around 12:30 and 3pm so not from 11-5 like there suppose to.

the towels and bedding in the room are all stained, its very obvious as there all white, the bathrooms are very baddly tiles and grouting is almost none exsistant, i really could go on but it would be huge- so if you expect LESS than butlins then go , if not really consider a much higher star rating as it really is bad quality and not worth the money.

on a plus the water park is next door and very good, they take photos and the cd is £21 for about 40 pictures . it s also cheaper to book tickets here with the thompson rep, yet cheaper to book other trips with the other guys in the reception area.

Room Tip: room 2104 and 2103 are garden rooms right by the quiet pool and very good location

We got back mid August from this holiday and enjoyed it so much that we have booked again same time next year!
Reading some of the other reviews on here it seems a shame that others did not have a good experience. We found the majority of the staff friendly and ammenable, especially the restaurant staff Mohammed and Waleed, who could not do enough for us. The pool is perfectly adequate, yes a few cracks in there but they are not life threatening! We still had a great time in there and our son loved it - no skin rashes.
If you are prepared to be hassled a bit by locals and for the afternoon heat you will be fine. You are going into a different culture so don't expect England - just be straight when dealing with the shopkeepers / taxi drivers etc and make sure that 'no' means 'no' and you will be fine. Do not let any negative reviews put you off going to this amazing place. Go on the Sinai trip (check out our review) and the Market MAyhem (again reviewed) trip as they were very special and different experiences.
If you like 'something different' and experiencing different cultures unlike the Benidorn crew book now! By the way Sayeed is a brilliant rep who knows his cookies.

Room Tip: pool view rooms are great on ground floor

Amazing hotel, would recommend to anyone and everyone, rooms amazing clean and sparkly, service second to none, great staff from houskeeping to pool bar and restaurant. Amazing time had by myself and my partner, close to Naama Bay and easy reach of Old Market and Soho Square.
This is by far one of the best hotels in Egypt in my opinion, the food was great the poolside bar brilliant and entertainment was excellant.
All of the pools were clean and never had a problem getting a sunbed, met great people there and would definatly go back!

3 ladies shared a room ground floor by quiet pool. Very quiet so no problem getting sun beds by pool or at viva beach. Staff friendly and helpful, all very clean. Lovely large shower, and only 10 feet to pool. Food ok, but spent 3 days down on beach, and on last night had a lovely meal on viva beach. No hassle for 3 single ladies in narma bay, only taxi rank bit hectic. Went out further one night and arranged to ring taxi driver who then came back and picked us up. Do the glass bottom boat trip, got great pics. Sea lovely and warm and clear. 2 English girls work at viva bar, very helpful. Great fun, sun, relaxing, that's why going back! Good value for money

3 ladies stayed in may for a week, very quiet everywhere so no problem getting sun bed by pool or on the beach. In fact we had ground floor room 10 ft from quiet pool, and spent every other day there, and viva beach. Food was ok, but for price no complaints . Walked through Hilton to get to beach, no hassle, 2 English girls work on viva beach very helpful. No hassle wandering round in town at night, just polite no thank you and go along with banter, taxi rank late at night very hectic! Had great glass bottom boat trip, and pub crawl with hotel staff, mice relaxing plenty of sun, clean, that's why we are going back this week!

We stayed here for 2 weeks in the middle of August and our 1st trip to Egypt. The Hotel was definately improved by the very helpful staff. Rooms were spacious and the showers were a good size too! Our rooms were directly onto the pool an there were always plenty of sunbeds to have around the pool. The pool bar service was excellent and Hany and Ahmed certainly made our holiday, nothing was too much trouble. Chicken Man also made sure my boys had plenty to eat including bringing out pizzas in the afternoon.
The cleaner was very helpful and worked very hard and left us some great towel animals on our beds.
Porters were a bit over the top and just be careful when tipping as you rarely see them again during the holiday. The pool and bar staff do so much more so save your pennies for them, also the dining room staff. The dining room in the Jasmine was the best for English as the Egyptian's frequented the one in the main Hotel.
Italian Restaurant is also available but I had food poisoning eating the cannelloni, after speaking to manager after similar reports the chef was dismissed so they listened to complaint.
Naama Bay was certainly a lively place and an experience "Blackpool on speed!" Saying this after the initial shock of the shopkeepers we met some really interesting characters along the way! Getting used to saying no and developing a hard skin enabled us to have a great time. Across the road is the Hilton Hotel. If you walk through the Hilton you can walk to Naama strip and there are some nice bars etc along the way. The Pirate bar is also located at the Hilton and is deffo worth a visit they do a really cold beer and a nice meal if you fancy a change.
The rep Sayed was helpful but really wanted to sell trips through Thomson which were treble the price! We found Charming Sharm Travel just outside the Hotel the most economical on trips and they were willing to negotiate. We went to Cairo, quad biking, snorkelling and boat trips whilst we were there.
The negatives for us would be: No nice bar to relax in, pool little bit dirty in places, warm drinks served in Egyptian part of Hotel, food poisoning, food ok but nothing too major.
Not forgetting the total pain that was selling scuba diving around the pool!!!!!! He was blatently rude saying we were putting our family in danger by not booking with him! Even after persistantly telling him no he procceeded to hound us even at the bar when we were relaxing. I had to resort to swearing at him to give him the message.
We would deffo go again, good value for money.

Room Tip: rooms 1112 and 1114 were excellent locations with pool directly in front of them.

Just back this week for our 2nd visit to The Tropicana Jasmine hotel.

We had an amazing holiday and this hotel was just perfect for our needs of a family relaxing time.
Rooms are a decent size with a mini fridge, large walk in shower, rooms cleaned daily to a high standard the cleaners work very hard here in soaring temps we tipped every other day as he worked so hard and deserved it.

Poolside guy Abdulla was a great guy who always chatted to us and had a laugh with he is a credit to the hotel and worked damned hard too. Wahid the restaurant manager was fantastic so welcoming and the waiters also worked so hard our waiter was Bashim and also a credit to the hotel remembered what drinks we had at each meal times and would have them ready for us on a table when we walked in!

Hanny and chef at the bottom pool fantastic guys always had a smile for you and time to chat.
Sayed the Thomson rep again a lovely man who worked hard and was always helpful if you needed to ask anything about Sharm.

The animation team worked very hard in such heat - always had time to chat and our little boy just loved the mini disco every night.

Food was very good lots of choices of course it gets samey into the 2nd week but this is the same for all all inclusive holidays - we were never stuck for what to eat and enjoyed every meal.

The Viva beach lets this hotel down and i hope they change it as soon as possible as this is going to be a cause for complaints - the beach is a long walk at least 20-30mins away it is small over crowded and basically not very nice at all... we did a boat trip from there and went straight back to the hotel and never went to the beach again! Please Tropicana sort out your beach choice and change it for next year!

Tips.. Take your own plastic drinking cups as the ones they give are tiny - we took our own and they were only too happy to fill them for us. Go for your evening meal at 7.00pm as it gets very busy later. Get the hubby up early to reserve your beds! - Go to Soho square for hassle free shopping guarenteed! - little strip of shops outside the hotel are super and the guys who work in them are very friendly and do not hassle you - go in and say hello :-) ENJOY!

Overall we had a perfect holiday and the Jasmine was perfect for us.

Room Tip: Rooms at the bottom pool are quieter we had room 2105 which was the end room on a block of 6 rooms a...
