Reviewed June 20, 2013

Just arrived back after spending 14 glorious days at Club Magic Life in Sharm el Sheik.
I will make this quite simple. This is our third trip to Sharm and was our best by far.

Accommodation - We had a junior suite in block 15 it had two double beds and a good sized room with everything we needed.Beds were comfortable and the aircon was fantastic.

Food - There are three restaurants apart from the Main one and we visited them all and found them to be good. The Mai Tai was probably the best. I honestly believe the Main Dining room is the best place to eat,with lots of choices at all meals.Anyone who complains about the food must come from a different planet.

Service - The service from all staff was remarkable they just could not do enough to ensure that you were enjoying yourself. A big thank you to them all.

Pools and Beach - There is a main pool for entertainment which is fine if you want noise all day long not for us. There is a Relax Pool which is very good but you need to get a bed before 830.

The Beach - Great way to spend your day lazing in the sun being waited on by great bar staff and great privacy if you want it. The snorkeling is second to none with hundreds of fish of different colors and shapes.

General Info - I saw people with bad tummies the truth is they sat drinking all day and eating far too much. Now in 40 degrees that is a recipe for disaster. I would strongly recommend that you drink a lot of bottled water all day its free from everywhere around the hotel. Certainly have a few drinks and party but remember to keep hydrated and you wont have a problem.

We will definitely go back it was wonderful if you need any advice please feel free to ask.

Room Tip: Block 15 is close to the beach and very quiet.

2nd June to 9th June 2013
Our first family holiday to Egypt. Excellent location with transfer time a mere 20 minutes or so from the airport to the hotel. We arrived at around 9.10 in darkness and were welcomed in fantastic style by being ushered straight through to the restaurant where we could get something to eat and have a drink before checking in as the restaurant was due to close at 9.30. From the word go we were struck by how friendly the staff are, with the waiters and food serving staff all extremely attentive and friendly. This also applied to the hotel desk staff. We had taken advantage of the hotel’s pre-arrival check in service via their website which made things extremely easy as we only had to sign forms and not fill them in.
In our party there was 2 adults and a 10 year old, and the room we were given was all we could ask for. We had paid extra for a sea view junior suite and this room delivered. We had a spacious balcony looking out directly onto the beach and the sea beyond. This was also a godsend for drying towels. For our daughter there was a curtained off area leading in from the balcony with a bed and sofa, and then in the main room area we had two queen sized beds. There is a fridge in the room which is kept stocked throughout your visit with soft drinks and water, included in the package. The bathroom was spacious with no bath but a large shower. The air conditioning was most welcome, with temperatures reaching over 48 degrees during our trip. Our cleaner, Ahmed, kept the room spotless and our daughter entertained with his inventive towel creations.
The hotel itself is large and very clean. From reception you walk straight into the terrace area which hosts an outdoor bar and entertainment for children and adults most evenings. There is a small internet room here with four desktop pc’s allowing free internet access. You can use them in chunks of 15 minutes. There is also a free internet connection here for use by phones and ipads etc, although when I used it, the connection was pretty slow. The hotel offers packages for internet access with the most expensive being around £48 for the entire week. I have no idea how good the connection is in this case as we didn’t have need of it.
There is a guest services room in the terrace as well in which you can book tables at the hotels’ three themed restaurants, Thai, Egyptian and Mediterranean. We ate in the Egyptian restaurant on one night and it was excellent. Be warned that you need to book the day before you want to eat and the restaurants’ tend to fill up.
Leading from the terrace there are also three bars, a small parade of shops and the hotels’ main restaurant, Magico, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food is served buffet style with drinks served by waiting staff at your table. There is a different food theme each night, including Egyptian, Chinese, Italian and so on. The restaurant and tables are made over each night with decoration appropriate to the theme. An amazing amount of work goes into this and it livens up meal times thoroughly. The food was, on the whole, excellent. The restaurant includes several cooking stations with chefs cooking eggs in various ways for breakfast, and meat dishes for lunch and the evenings. There is a wide variety of food which should cater to most tastes, including chips and pasta dishes if you’re feeling less adventurous. There is a small coffee bar hidden away in the tower which serves a nice selection of cakes as well.
The hotel has two main pools; the Relax pool is for adults only and is small and quieter and the Activity pool which hosts some sports through the day and has music playing. The pool is large enough that you can swim even if there’s water polo going on in another part. The music we found to be at a pleasant rather than annoying level, although opinions may vary. There was plenty of sun loungers available, although we did notice the ones nearer the pool did get reserved early in the day, and a nice bar in the middle of the pool area, which serves toasted sandwiches in the afternoon for a pool side snack. All of the bars in the hotel area provide a wide range of drinks, including a welcome range of junior cocktails suitable for kids. The interpretation/strength of a particular drink varied a bit depending upon the barman but this is no issue in our eyes.
The hotel has a great beach area with rows of sun loungers available for use and it’s own bar and toilets. During our visit, the beach was never overly crowded, and we soon had our regular spot mapped out. Wind breaks are in place which proved useful as we had some welcome stiff breezes on a couple of days. Close to the beach, you can wade out and snorkel in relatively shallow water. This proved to be a fantastic opportunity to observe some unique marine life at close quarters. While snorkelling in the shallows, we spotted puffer fish, porcupine fish, rainbow fish, parrot fish, moray eels (small grey’s….not giant ones!) amongst many other varieties. Beach shoes are also highly recommended here. The hotel has a jetty which takes you out to the edge of the reef which runs along the coast where the shallows drop off. This platform is manned by an excellent life guard all day who is very friendly and knowledgeable. You’ll know when it’s safe to swim and snorkel as flags are used. The snorkelling off this pier is quite wonderful as many varieties of exotic fish swim around the reef edge. This was a true highlight of our holiday. I would recommend taking your own snorkel gear with you as we spoke to some guests who had bought gear locally but it was leaky and not very good. You don’t need to spend a fortune; our sets were around £6 from Amazon!
The other thing people want to know about is if we got sick……well to tell the truth I did, but my husband and daughter didn’t. Now by ‘sick’ I mean I had one night where a couple of trips to the loo was needed, but by morning, with a little help of a couple of UK bought tablets I was fine and carrying on with my holiday. I don’t believe this has anything to do with food hygiene etc, more like I had a little too much sun and hadn’t drank enough etc. BUT, one great positive about Club Magic Life that did reassure me was that they have an onsite doctors clinic for 2 hours every morning and evening so if you or any of your party are ill, you can simply go and get it sorted with the minimum of fuss or time. The doctor is also available 24hrs for call out.
The hotel has its own diving centre which offers a variety of activities, including scuba if you’re so inclined. Representatives from the centre will wander around the hotel offering activities which you pay extra for. They’re not pushy, however. This also goes for the health centre people and entertainment staff who will try and involve you in the wide range of sports and fitness activities but will happily take no for an answer. We took a trip from the diving centre which leads me to my only negative comment about the holiday. We purchased a snorkelling trip from one of these guys after asking him if it was suitable for children, which he confirmed it was fine for as the site we went to was only around 3metres deep etc. This cost around £86 for the three of us. It was an early start with a coach transfer to the port of Sharm where our party of around 25 boarded a boat for a trip to two diving sites. Our problem was that we snorkelers (around 8 of us) where definitely an afterthought. The majority of the people on the trip were scuba diving. The dive centre staff were focussed on this and actually only one of them even ever spoke to us, unlike the reception you get from the hotel staff! We were left to our own devices. We visited 2 different sites, but at each all the Dive centre staff disappeared underwater with various dive groups and we were left on the boat on our own with the Egyptian captain and deck hand to sort ourselves out. NO staff came in the water with us. This was a concern, especially at the second site as we were a fair distance off shore (none of the snorkelers made the swim to shore!) and moored around several other boats which were coming and going. The only advise we were given was to swim with our head out of the water to avoid the boats coming and going! I’ve seen and been told about other trips where the dive staff have life preservers in the water which you can hang onto and staff who stay with the snorkelers. This was not one of those. I’m sure if you’re a scuba diver you’ll enjoy this trip. If you’re not, I would advise against it especially if you are not such a confident swimmer or have children with you. We feel the trip was a bit misrepresented.
Back to the positives. This hotel provided us with a great first experience of holidaying on the Red Sea and we met several people who had been back to the hotel several times. The facilities are top quality and the staff exceptional. I would recommend it without reservation.

Myself and my boyfriend travelled to club magic life for a week 5-12th june 2013. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival and the room was lovely and kept consistently clean throughout the week with clean towels and bed sheets every day. We wasn't very happy about leaving our bags for the porter to bring them to our room as we knew he would expect a tip, and surely enough when he arrived after dropping the bags he loitered around waiting for some money. We begrudgingly gave him an English pound ( which is fine) but we learnt that this is a continuing theme throughout the holiday.

The hotel kindly but a late 11.30pm dinner on for us and was much appreciated. Would not advise to bother with the welcome meeting as was just a sales push by Thomson to buy their tours. Waste of time. The male Thomson rep ( not sure of his name) was miserable every time we went to ask questions and looked like he hated his job. Maybe he should think about getting a job he enjoys (Just a thought).

Food was great, lots of choice but became very samey samey throughout the week so we decided to eat out the latter part of the week but that is no reflection on the hotel.
Service in the mai thai snack bar down at the beach was brilliant and very attentive compared to the main hall. The fizzy drinks at all bars tasted like the pump had gone on them and just tasted like sugary water.

One thing that we observed along with many other couples we chatted with is that the bar staff ( all male) do not acknowledge men when waiting to be served if they are alone. The bar staff seem to skip straight to the women.

There are a lot of Russian/german/dutch people at this hotel which also seem to get first class treatment compared to us brits but didn't bother us that much compared to other couples we spoke to.

The beach is beautiful and we spent most days there as other reviewers have pointed out, it is a nightmare to get a towel around any of the pools after 8am and personally being on holiday I do not want to get up before this time but it is ok if you are an early bird. I would recommend the beach to the pool as it is quiet, hotter and the sea life/ snorkelling is second to none.

The entertainment left a lot to be desired bar the beach party which was great. The bad karaoke singers and cheesy 70's music wasn't our cup of tea.

All in all we had a lovely holiday but maybe we will try another hotel next time.

Room Tip: we were in block 20 which was quiet but very nice. Shortcut to the beach down the side of our block...

We have stayed in many all inclusive resorts but we particularly enjoyed this one and would not hesitate to go back. The staff were very friendly and attentive, they could not do enough for you. Our room was well appointed and spacious with a huge balcony overlooking the pool, lovely and clean with tea and coffee facilities and soft drinks in the fridge. We particularly liked the buffet evening arrangements.Most nights had a theme and great attention to detail was made decorating the outside eating area, every effort was made to give it a great ambiance with candels and curtains between the tables and muted lighting....our best experience ever of outdoor mass dining. The food was very good, something for everyone whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner.The alternative restaurants made a pleasant change to dine in, impeccable waiting staff, beautifully presented food and very passable wine. We enjoyed the entertainment in the evenings and the atmosphere in the bars. A beautifully landscaped resort, well kept. A great place for a little winter sunshine.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony overlooking the pool., it is not so far to walk to the main buildings...

We travelled to the club magic life hotel on the 2nd of June 2013 for 7 nights.

Transfer time from the airport was excellent 20 minutes max, as a Thomson platinum customer you do get priority drop off at your hotel.

Upon arrival the outlook on the hotel didn't really do the hotel much justice however once your inside the hotel it is beautiful.
The hotel complex it's self is massive.

We were told to leave our luggage outside the hotel doors and the staff would kindly escort our luggage to our rooms.

When we entered the hotel it's self we were given a refreshing glass of orange juice and a hot flannel to cleanse our face which was a really nice gesture after travelling on a 5 hour flight.

We were greeted by the hotel management and then asked to fill out a compulsory form to complete check in, if travelling as a couple as were we, they give you 2 room cards and 2 towel cards. Note that if you lose these you will be charged 150 Egyptian pound which is equivalent to 15 English pounds per card you lose, your also given a little booklet/map of the hotel as I mentioned before the complex is really big so this was a great help to find your way around and to find your room.

Our hotel block was number 14 (Luxor) as its called and we had a ground floor room number 14111.
When entering the room it had a wardrobe, Chester drawers, tv with English channels, it had mini fridge which is included in your all inclusive package and huge bed which was extremely comfortable and a reasonably sized bathroom, my only tiny problem with the bathroom was it didn't have a bath however on the plus side the shower was massive, the bathroom also has obviously a toilet and sink big mirror and a hair dryer, for us girls though I would recommend bringing your own as your home hair dryer works just as good as being at home and it's the European plugs which is the round pins NOT the flat pins just as some extra advise.

The hotel it self;
The pool area was great it had a relaxing pool and it had the entertainment pool, we much preferred the entertainment pool as they played music and games from certain times throughout the day, they also had a swim up bar :) excellent.
The entertainment team were brilliant and would have you joining in the games but it was ok if your didn't want to they wasn't pushy which is what I liked.
The bars in the hotel were really nice fully air conditioned apart from the pool Bar but this was outside anyway so it didn't really matter that much.
The hotel had all different activities through out the day like football beach volley ball archery tennis all in different areas of the complex so if you have children they will be fully entertained.

The food;
Ok so breakfast was lovely different choice of great fruits cereals toast pan cakes etc and for lunch they had a wide verity of dishes, the pool bar however if you didn't fancy going inside for lunch served hot toasties with cheese or cheese and beef, as this country is a Muslim country they don't serve any pork, they also had club barms with salads ect.
For the main meal of an evening unfortunately I can not comment on any of the al a carte restaurants as we didn't get a chance to visit these you have to be up at the crack of dawn to have these booked by 9am in the morning and the que for this is a little bit of a joke however we didn't mind eating in the buffet restaurant as they had different themes every night :) my only problem with the food is the meat, I would not recommend eating this unless you like your meat rare as everything looks cooked to perfection on the outside ie the beef and chicken however when cutting into your food it is actually red raw on the inside, we thought this was our mistake at first, we thought we may have had to ask the chef if we wanted our steak well done but as the food is already put out on the buffet we wasn't wrong. Other than that the food is pretty ok however I wouldn't say it was 5 star food.

When going out of the hotel I would advise not to use the hotel private taxis as they are a rip off !! If you walk outside of the hotel grounds blue and white taxis will approach you and these are great for prices you can haggle them to the price you want for example we wanted to go to Nama bay for a day of shopping and the hotel wanted 22 English pounds which is 220 Egyptian return which means you agree a time for them to pick you up and pay them when your back in the hotel however we didn't know what time we wanted to come back so the benefit of using the local taxis is we agreed a price of 60 Egyptian which is 6 pound for 4 of us travelling to Nama bay and once we had done our shopping we went to the taxi rank and agreed again 60 Egyptian (6pound) to bring us back to the hotel. Total price 120 Egyptian which is 12 pound :)
Just one more piece of advise with the local cabs when agreeing a price with your cab driver make sure that you agree the price "per taxi" and not "per person" as the locals try to get away with tricking you with this when they arrive at your destination so just make sure you make the price of the taxi clear to them and get them to agree that it's not per person only per taxi.

Nama bay is 20 minutes away and I would definitely recommend going.
They have everything there shopping food fast food they have the Hard Rock Cafe and the food there is amazing, they also have one in Nabq were club magic life is located and is only a 10 minute walk food again is delicious try the nachos for a starter share them with your partner as one each is just too big.

The beach at club magic life;
To be totally honest the beach in Egypt isn't something that I particularly like and I am a beach person this is purely because the "sand" isn't actually sand it's broken up pieces of sharp coral and shells/rock. Obviously I was expecting the beach to give me the wow factor but it didn't and that's just my honest opinion on the other hand the sea is absolutely astonishing crystal blue waters and you can literally see all of the tropical fish when you go for a swim at the end of the jetty.
There are 3 jettys in total that belong to the hotel we stayed to the far right hand side as this one has a diving plank which is so fun!
Tip in the hotel or before you go I would advise to buy the swim shoes that you can wear in the pool or in the sea, the reason I say this is because;
1. The sand gets very hot 2. The jetty is rusty were you can climb down the ladder to the sea and will also stop you from being bitten from any sea wild life as you are able to walk in the sea from the "sand" however it is very rocky and you have no idea what your stepping on.

Excursions
The VIP cruise
This consists of 25 people max on a private yacht you will depart at 8:30 in the morning and you have a full day of snorkelling at 3 of the national parks for the best coral and fish in the red sea, during the day your are served with a VIP lunch which was a BBQ on board which was considerably nice.

Ultimate desert experience
This trip is a must in Egypt!!! One of the best excursions there is!!
The day consists of either a quad bike or a buggy. The buggy is a 2 seater so I would defiantly recommend the quad bike as you get to have one each, note though that children 16 and under can not ride the quad bike and must be accompanied by an adult. On this trip your on a 45 minute ride into the middle of the desert you then get to ride a camel, after this your on your way to another destination in the desert were you meet a tribe called the bedwins, these people actually live in the desert, the locals provide food and water also the hubblybubbly shesha pipes that your able to try and then they preform a show for you, once this has ended you then go back on a 40 minute ride back to the coach to return to your hotel.
This trip last for around 6 hours in total and is most defiantly a must.

Friday night feeling
This is for party people
You go on a coach to Nama Bay and visit 4 different night clubs, they are amazing we was not expecting the night life to be as good as it was.
Your with a group of people which consists of around 100 from all different hotels.
The first stop is the TAVERN which is an English bar and you can pay 100 Egyptian which is 10 English pound to be all inclusive in the bar and it's so worth it :) your second stop is BUS STOP this you can't actually do all inclusive in, the third stop is LITTLE BUDDAH and this place is great and your able to do all inclusive in this one for 10 pound and finally your last port of call is the HARD ROCK CAFE 15 pound to do all inclusive and it's so worth it, the reps leave for the coach at 2 in the morning but they do say anyone who wants to stay out obviously can just advise them. We did stay out in the hard rock with plenty of other people and defiantly got out 15 pounds worth of our all inclusive. Getting a taxi back to the hotel was no problem 4 people cost 6 pound back to Nabq 20 minutes away were club magic life is.
Brilliant night !! :)

You can book these trips with your thomson or firstchoice rep or you can actually book it through the hotel.

On the whole our experience was brilliant only wish we got to try the al a carte restaurants in the hotel and last but not least if you want the pool bar staff to bring drinks over to you, you have to tip them !!

So this is my summary of club magic life hope this review helped :)
