“Cant Wait to Return!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

If you look down at the VAST majority of reviews about this hotel you see that what the reviewer "Jan A" has said holds no credence what so ever!

As a family we holiday a lot and i would say we are most definitely used to and also expect a VERY high standard!
And Club Magic Life certainly meets those standards.
The first thing you will notice as you approach Magic Life (apart from the cheesy billboard logo - Come on Club Magic you could put someone off with that!) is the amazingly well kept and green gardens. As we left the coach you're asked to put a sticker on your case so the porter knows where your staying, even this was taken off us and all we had do was point. We were then escorted to our room with the porters carrying our cases and bags. The room was immaculate and was each day. The cleaner introduced himself at the start of the holiday and regularly asked through out our stay if everything was to our liking.
The whole hotel is being cleaned 24/7 it seems so is spotless everywhere.
There is free Wi/Fi where receipts with codes are obtained from reception for 2 hour periods, but there is no limit to how many you can have. And it works throughout the whole hotel grounds including rooms and pool etc.
The drinks at Magic life are more then adequate! with everything you could want from spirits to beer to red, white, rose, or sparkling wine and an extensive cocktail list. All the bars give you glass glasses witch is a nice touch, even around the pool, apart from the beach bar which are plastic.
The entertainment staff were the least pushiest i have ever experienced - they asked if you wanted to partake - if you said no, they said "Ok, no problem we hope you have a nice day"
Granted some of the barman around the pool bar and beach bar were a bit miserable, but this was not the case in the rest of the bars that were more for evening lounging should we say.
The food at the hotel was the best standard of food i have ever experienced. I have paid good money to eat out here in England and not seen the standard of food that was there in a buffet restaurant! The was so much choice of fresh food, and having the "themed" night mixed in with being able to attend the 3 A la carte restaurants you certainly wouldn't get bored of the choice.
The beach never seemed to get crowded, and the lay-out around the pool didn't make you feel you was laying there with 100s of people. Sun beds DO get "reserved" early even though theres signs saying its forbidden to do so, So you can stand by your principles and spend the morning walking around looking for a free bed, or join in and save one, and ease the guilt with that first cocktail of the day from the bar which was just the right distance as you got the bed you wanted!

So,

Cons - Room numbers are long to remember, and some of the bar staff could do with smiling a bit more.

Pros - Too many to name, the spacious layout off the resort which meant you didn't feel crowded, the great tasting food and drink, the helpful staff, the list goes on!

Great hotel and i will certainly return, or check out the companies other hotels, even if they have got the tackiest sign in Egypt........

We are usually hesitant about returning to a place for a second time but Magic Life was so good the first time we decided we must. We weren't disappointed. Everything was as good as we recalled. Food and restaurant choices are superb. Staff are so friendly. Beach, lagoon and reef offer a great combination of relaxing experiences. We're not up for entertainment but it's clear the entertainment staff work very hard to cater for those who do like this sort of thing.

Special mention to Sameh, Omar and Ehad in the Eagles Bar and the barber in the Wellness Centre (great wet shave at the end of the fortnight) - thanks for a great holiday

Have just returned from spending 12 nights at the Club Magic Life, excellent hotel and standards. Arrived at 9.15 pm and were told to go straight to the restaurant before 9.30 pm in order to have a meal which was fine.

Were shown to our room and the cases arrived quickly. The room was large big enough for a family of four with plenty of storage space etc although we had been upgraded to this without asking. Bathroom was a little dated but everything was fully functional. We were in Block 19, top floor, which was in a quite area of the grounds but still not far to walk to the main reception area and dining rooms.

There was plenty of choice with regard to food, the only thing we felt was required was more soft fruit eg bananas and grapes both for breakfast and lunch. The restaurant was large so you felt you did not have to wait too long to be served. There was two seating areas, smoking and non smoking. One of the main criticisms was on the first morning we sat in the smoking area and had a waiter come up to us and say good morning and then promptly pulled out a bag of change from his pocket and shook it in front of us asking for a tip before he had done anything! He was promptly told where to go. After that we sat in the non smoking area where the waiters were excellent and you were not hassled at all.

The evening entertainment was ok nothing too great to write home about but there were plenty of bars to sit in all air conditioned if you just wanted a quite drink and a chat. Be warned, you will be asked for a tip if you use the main outside bar, hence we only used it once. We will tip when we want to and when we feel the waiters deserve it.

Our room was cleaned daily to a high standard hence our cleaner was tipped regularly.

One of the best features of the hotel was the high standard the beautiful grounds were kept in. There was plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the views.

The main activity pool did become a little noisy with the DJ doing his bit on and off during the day so we chose to use the relaxing pool which was for adults only, very quiet but you did have to be down quite early in the morning to get a bed. If you did fail to get a bed anywhere you could always spend a day on the beach which had many a bed and had good facilities. The sea was very warm but you will require sea shoes for the coral. Beware there are Jelly Fish so at times it was not really safe to swim.

There are plenty of activities for you to take part in during the day if you could be bothered to get off the sunbed which I couldn't.

The trip to Luxor to see the temples was a really good trip. We chose to fly as it is a lot quicker although you are up at 4 am and not back until early evening but it is a good day out and you do get to see a lot of sights, just remember the sun cream, hat and umbrella for shade.

Overall a hotel of good standard with lots to see and do but spoilt by certain waiters demanding tips on the first day/night. Ignore them and tip at your own pace.

Outside the hotel you can walk to a few shops not far away for anything you require you do get hassled a bit but nothing too off putting. We did take a taxi to Soho Square which has many a shops and it comes alive in the evening, worth a visit for a night. Taxi's not too expensive.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would go back by myself as you did feel safe there. Any problems or repairs were sorted within the hour. Blocks 18-21 are the quietest.

Room Tip: Blocks 18-21 for quiet rooms, also nearest to the facilties.

We arrived at about 9pm, told to have dinner before checking in, and then we would be shown our room. Our luggage was put in a van and we were escorted half way to our room by foot, where the van met us. I was told to sit in the passenger seat and my partner (who is nearly 80) was TOLD TO FOLLOW THE VAN ON FOOT!! He was not impressed, to say the least, especially since we had been travelling for nearly 10 hours. Despite numerous requests to the Manager and the Thompson rep no apology was forthcoming and we were made to feel that we were just being awkward.

The room was very basic, more like a 3 star hotel. The shower floor was cracked and one of the shower doors had no handle. The wood around the basin was cracked - I have the pictures to prove it if necessary. The rest of the room was just ordinary, not what you would expect of a 5 star hote.

The food was mediocre, as was the entertainment and the staff were downright rude. Also, the trips organised by Thompsons were a rip off, eg an escorted tour of the old market consisted of a coach pick up, walk to their established bazar and return coach pick up. No tour whatsoever,

On the positive side it was clean, the weather was brilliant, the seating round the pool was good and the main outside restaurant was OK. Apart from that no other positives and most of the people we spoke to were of the same opinion as us.

IN OTHER WORDS DO NOT GO TO THE CLUB MAGIC LIFE - it's rubbish.

Second visit inside 6 months. Still as good. Not disappointed. As good as the first time, last November. Staff great. Wifi has just been introduced. Beach, bars, grounds,, atmosphere and accomodation and swimming pools great. A la carte restaurants good, as was main buffet one. Alot to do, if you like or just chillax! Wouldn't go anywhere else, in case as not as good as this hotel. Rooms good but could do with rfreshing but hardly anytime spent there. They clean. Will be looking forward to my 3rd visit. I am hooked with the place!

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view - even a standard or junior suite - much better than a garden or pool v...

Where shall I start with this review. Second visit to this to the hotel within 6 months.......... Hotel and grounds are always kept extremely well kept and clean. the staff have always seem to go that extra mile for you. There are lots of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, aswell as snack during the day too. Will happly be going back to this hotel very soon. Regarding excursions, I wouldn't bother going via Thomsons or similar to book these, as you can get them cheaper via a local company called Sinai Excursions which is run by ex pats. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I wouldn't go anywhere else to stay in Sharm.

My partner & I have just returned from a week here. We flew with Thomson.

The Thomson reps- Kirsty & Ibrahim were great. They were always on site at the specified times, very friendly & helpful. I have a nut allergy & wanted to speak to the head chef about the meals. Kirsty sorted this for me & got me a card in Arabic. I was very pleased with the support I got with this & was able to speak to relevant staff before each meal. If you have a nut allergy, I would suggest avoiding the Mediterranean & the Thai a la carte. There are lots of nuts in theses meals & surprisingly the Egyptian special is the one with only one nut dish in the desserts. It was delicious & we were able to eat twice here. There is also a doctor on site, which reassured me greatly.

The pharmacy is literally a 5min walk from the hotel. Come out & turn right. There is one on the same side of the road or opposite. Again, I found this reassuring. We did get a funny tummy after Cairo & obtained some Anatanal from the Pharmacy which worked well. I also got some mosquito bites :-( but the cream from the Pharmacy worked wonders! It's also very cheap.

In terms of the food generally, I would say it was good. There was a lot of variety each day & the staff are very friendly in the dining room. The only downside for both of us, is that there is an awful lot of beef dishes. There isn't as much chicken or lamb as there could be, hence the 4* review. Saying that, there are plenty of dishes to choose from, vegetarian, salads etc, but a lot of beef! I think the only way I didn't find it cooked was roasted...

The room was great. We stayed in block 10. It's not great for disabled access- again hence the 4*'s. The blocks don't have lifts & the ramps are like slides they're so steep! I have seen this before in hotels abroad though, so it's not unique to this hotel. The room was large & lovely. No problems with it.

We went to Cairo to see the Pyramids on a Thomson excursion. I would definitely recommend doing the VIP experience. It's a very very long day & to have your own car & guide helps immensely. You can tailor the day slightly to your own needs. The meal on the Nile was yummy!

The beach was very nice with great windbreakers which gave lots of privacy. We always got a sun bed with no trouble & didn't get up at silly o'clock to do it. I did see a few women topless which is specifically frowned upon but they seemed to get away with it. The beach is nice enough but it is a coral one, so not the nicest. The staff at the beach bar were surly at times but they were the only ones.

I had a massage deal in the spa which was great value for money. £90 for 1 massage & 3 scrubs & 1 mask, spread over 2 visits.

All n all, a very good experience.
