“Fantastic Holiday (English couple late 40s)”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

We are a young at heart couple in our late 40s who have just returned from The Savoy after a weeks holiday (08/12/12-15/12/12) which was incredible. This was our 1st time in Egypt.
The troubles are over a days travel away in Cairo and at no point was safety an issue. All luggage is passed thru a screen as u enter the hotel and the Soho square area is patrolled by security.
Make sure you take advantage of the "S" class package as it really is good value. This allows u to eat A la Carte every night at any one of the many restaurants. On that subject, the food is outstanding, the steak house offered fillet mignon steak and rib eye and u would pay £35 for that alone if u went in to eat but were not S class .(never mind the cost of the starters drinks and desert on top)!!! The bombay Indian was excellent and the Thai was also excellent to name but a few. The S class really is as good as it sounds and allows u to get out and go to different restaurants in the Soho square. We did not even eat in the Hotel Restaurant as there was such choice and we only had seven days to fit it all in.!!!
I read Trip Advisor b4 going and can only say the few complaints made were from people who were not S class or were unbelievably picky. Ignore all complaints coz they are all unjustified or ridiculous from our experience.
I took my girlfriend there as a suprise for her 50th Birthday and the staff did out our room on her bday to add that special touch. All the drinks are named brands and all are included in the package.
On the day we arrived we flew thru check in and were driven with our luggage to our room in a golf cart. We had a ground apartment which was immaculate but we wanted a room with a view on the 1st floor. when we requested a change of room this was no hassle and sorted within 15minutes.!!! How good is that.
The staff could not be friendlier and cant do enough for you. Weve done Turkey and Greece and consider the service here even better.
We had a great time overall and can only say give this place a go coz u wont regret it.
We are already looking to go back.!!!

Room Tip: Have an upper floor room just for a better view, near to the main building.

I stayed at the Hilton in sharks bay and went to eat out at the savoy owned Bombay restaurant in soho square.
I must admit I am a real curry lover and went there with low expectations to say I was pleasantly surprised was an under statement the food was nothing short of fantastic it was perfectly spiced and presented and tasted wonderful.
I was so impressed I asked to speak to the chef he was a lovely man called tilak very humble polite and really grateful for the feedback .
I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the indian part of this restaurant it is well worth a visit and not very expensive either

Just returned from a week at the Savoy which was very enjoyable. Having spent many years travelling in the Far East and being used to immaculate service, the Savoy certainly didn’t disappoint. The staff are first class; polite, friendly and helpful and the hotel is spotless. Will definitely return when possible.

Room Tip: The Hibiscus rooms which are peaceful and have a good balcony over looking the sea.

This turned out to be a real treat as our first choice was unavailable. We chose a garden room as an economical selection but it turned out to be a great one with easy access to the pool areas. Excellent balcony.
One immediate warning for sunbed selection was the hotel's desire for piped music throughout the pool areas, this can be tiresome but we found the area down by the bottom pool managed to get away from the non stop background. A great choice of restaurants within the hotel were backed up by a further selection in the adjoining commercial area Soho Square. We had booked bed and breakfast and found that as we were not big drinkers we were well ahead of the all inclusive rate. One note is the essential to book each evening, this was slightly irritating as having been refused because the restaurant was full up, we found that if passing by later in the evening, this was not the case. It may have been a staffing problem.
Pool browsing was backed up with a very pleasant beach including facilities for first time snorkelling. Staff throughout were superb and our room attendant was second to none.

Room Tip: A very large hotel, over 400 rooms so you may wish to look before unpacking

I stayed at the Savoy from 29 Nov to 6 Dec with my best friend for her birthday celebrations. Overall the stay was memorable and fun..We travelled with Thomas Cook on a B/B basis.

Positives - Hotel was situated in Soho Sq which is full of restaurants, bars, cafes etc.
The beach was beautiful and the water was so clear and blue. The coral reef was beautiful we saw stingrays, lion fishes and laods of other brightly coloured fishes. I recommend snorkelling and diving as it was suppose tobe amazing, I didnt go but we knew a few people who did and they really recommended it. The pool area is really clean and relaxing with I think 2 heated pools. Spa facilities were OK, i got a massage but It was not the best. We went on a StarGazing excursion which was amazinggg.. we went to a desert for a traditional bbq and a camel ride. We then had a professional astronomer who explained the constellations and planets to the group. We could see the milky way and planet jupiter which was an experience, we also saw a shooting star to top it off! Para sailing was so much fun it cost us about 20 english pounds. Naama Bay was about 10min cab ride, this is a very busy area and you do get hasseled so just ignore and walk. staying at the Savoy means you get 25% off all restaurants at Soho Sq so this really is worth it, the restaurants vary to Indian, Thai, Chinese, Steak House etc. There is a light and musical fountain which is on every 25 min I think in the evenings. The rooms are spacious and all the house keeping staff were friendly.

Negatives - The hotel is very large we were initally given room 6129 which was too far out and it took us ages to get to the pool or beach so we were later moved to a room closer to pool - Room 2012. The corridor gets filled with loadssss of moths, it was horrible ...by the end of the trip I got used to them - this is a pre-warning to those who dont like creepy crawlies! The lights went off in our room and we had to call a electrician to come and fix it and also the water from the shower sprayed a yellowish colour water before it came clear..so again pre-warning dont go straight in there with the gargling :). We had to keep calling house keeping for a iron, they would not let us keep it in our room every time we returned to our room iron was gone - a big hotel like the Savoy should have irons available. Our face towels were never changed and we were only given one bath robe. The breakfast was limited, only three types of fruit and same food day in day out.

Athough it is a lovely hotel it didnt give out the '5 star quality'.. but nevertheless, Savoy is by far the best 5* hotel in Sharm and we are glad we chose it for our holiday for Sharm el Sheikh.

Tips - it will cost you about 35-40 EGY pounds to go to Naama Bay from Savoy so dont get ripped off, always agree the price before getting in..and also just say you have been here before so you know the prices.
Avoid having ice in drinks and drinkign water, always get botteled water.

Room Tip: Get rooms closest to pool/beach - otherwise you will have a long walk around the hotel.

how can people complain about this hotel, the staff are great everyone speaks to you even when you are just passing around the pool or passing in a corridor. we stayed on half board, we only had to pay towards one meal and that was in the steakhouse all other restaurants were included. drinks were extra but not that expensive, lunches reasonable as well.
some refurbishing going on at the moment but does not trouble the visitor at all, we will go back again

Room Tip: pool views are good value

We spent a week B&B here and can only give this hotel praise
The staff were friendly and helpful, We were upgraded to sea view and allowed late check out which was really appreciated. The room was comfortable, nice beds and a large balcony, the bathroom whilst functional and clean was more 4 than 5 star but not an issue. It's a nice experience just to stroll around the hotel with different areas, courtyards etc and there was plenty of room around the pool areas, although this was a quiet time of year.
The beach area was well kept and the snorkelling excellent, The access to Soho square made eating out easy, we found the indian great food but the service very slow. also beware of sitting on grassy areas around the bars as the ants made a meal of my feet,
So overall fantastic value for what we paid, nice tranquil enviroment
