“great relaxing break”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

Having read all the reviews before and after my stay at Arabian Beach Resort I except this is a new resort and has some issues to address. My wife and I stayed for ten nights in March and had an excellent time.Throughout the stay progress was being made in all areas to improve the standard of the resort.
If you want a lively holiday it's not here
If you have trouble walking don't chance it
If you want to be waited on and treated like a king and queen for a while this is the one.

great time, great price, met some really nice people.might go back later in the year. 8/10

Room Tip: if you have problems with steps ask for a room near the main pool

The finish to this newly built Hotel is shabby in places and I don't think it's going to age well. If it were not for the staff this Hotel would have received a much lower overall score. They are mostly happy to see and serve you, as well as knowing their product pretty well.

The food in the main buffet was varied but hit and miss, however the Thai, Indian and Italian speciality restaurants were all excellent. The poolside bar was great and the staff there particularly good, even to the extent of coming round daily to polish your sunglasses free of charge! The animation team really worked hard as well.

We visited Soho Square which was pleasant clean and offered an English pub, Ice Rink, Live Music and overall was worth a few hours visit. The Old Market however is a totally different kettle of fish. Just disgusting... stay away.

Give it a go.... soon

I would generally agree with some of the other reviews that this has potential to be a good hotel but that its not quite 5 star.

The Good
--------------
The food - We had some really nice meals at the a la carte and the buffet restaurant.
Hygiene - None of us had any dodgy stomachs and it was clear on one day they had inspectors in (it was the only day for example they put the sauces in ice)
The furnishings are new and it has a new feel to it.
The drinks were generally good if you got the right waiters.
The staff on the whole were good, our room boy was excellent and his standard of service didnt change when we tipped him - which I see as a sign of quality.
The building work is very discrete and does not affect your holiday.

The Bad
----------------
Standard of workmanship - Outside our room there were lots of man hole covers which didn't sit flat on the ground. I stabbed my foot on on of them and it was very painful. In the room the painting and decorating looked very rushed, the switches etc has paint splashes on them where they had been rollered and not cleaned. I would have sworn this hotel was many years old, which it is I believe because its construction was stopped during the political unrest.
The Kid Club - Compared to what you might expect with say Thomson or First Choice Kids club this was very poor. For example when you sign up to Thomson's Kids Club they make you sign a waiver during which you have to disclose medical conditions etc, there was none of this at the this hotel. The girls tried hard but they didn't have the tools to do the job. The inside of the kids club was limited to jigsaw puzzles, paint and a video. There were no other toys. The animation team had to take it in turns to run the kids club, I might be wrong but I don't think they had any qualifications you would expect people looking after kids too. We let the kids go a few times but they did not enjoy it.
Ordering food by the pool. I got the kids lunches every day and brought it back to the room. I would order and go back in 20 minutes time as instructed. However it took generally another 10 to 30 minutes once I got back to get the order. One time they got the order wrong and rather than giving me the correct bit, they made me wait for the whole lot so it was mostly cold by the time it arrived.

The Ugly
-----------
Two things really spoilt our experience at this hotel:
1. We generally headed down to the beach at 5pm for a drink and a ice cream and let the kids play in the sand. This was also the time the beach boys were cleaning the beach, during which they rake the sand. We let the kids carry on playing in the sand and digging etc, the beach boy came over to us and told us to stop our children being naughty for making sand castles. There was no notice on the beach about what time it closed.
2. Restaurant Bookings. When we arrived, we were not given any guidance about what the rules of the all inclusive were. This was a first for us, as generally hotels set out which drinks are included and during what hours etc and what restaurants. On our first day we booked an a la carte restaurant every evening, the way it panned out was that we had thai 3 nights in a row. The online booking system allows you to do this and we noted the booking number for each reservation. On the third night at the thai, the manager (a mahbood?) initially refused us entry stating that you could only visit once per week, we said this wasn't documented and we had a booked reservation, we politely pushed our case to have our dinner in the thai. Eventually he got very angry and shouted at one of his staff to find us a table in front of all the other guests. That night we had cold starters, half full bowls of soup and a 90 minute wait for main courses! The next night we had reserved indian, but magically our booking had dissapeared. We spent about an hour with guest relations only proving we had a reservation by stating our reservation number. It turned out that someone had gone into the database and deleted our remaining reservations, even though it wasnt supposed to be possible. After many apologies and offers of upgrades and fruit bowls, we got our reservations reinstated but it left a very bad taste.

Room Tip: Around the heated pool is the best

The hotel can be considered as good, but it does not meet the European 5* luxury hotel level.

Rooms: are nice, but they have a lot of small issues related to the finishing (doors of the closets do not close, a lot of the room decoration was not hanging straight, the bathroom was not 100% clean at our arrival) On the other hand the rooms are big and they have dual zone aircon, 2 plasma TV’s (but the programmation list does not match with the actual condition)......

Buffets: are limited, food itself is oke and overall warm enough, but there is not a lot of choice (example fruit is limited). The waiters are not really fast in serving drinks)

Pool: big, nice pools, but not enough of umbrella's or spots in the shade. During summer time, with 100% occupancy it will be a big problem! Last 2 days the pool was not heated anymore and it got ice cold.....

Beach: the riff in front of the hotel is really nice, also easy accessible. Though at the beach they have these cabana's, nowhere is indicated that you should pay 19 dollars additional per day for them. This is really not acceptable.

Restaurant reservation: is a real hell..the system is slow and the queue is enormous!

Conclusion: overall we had a nice stay, but please temper your expectations when you are booking this "5*" hotel. The service level is really not up to that level nor the accommodation and food is.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room, this allows easy acces to the pool. Don't go for a swim up room, re...

Dear all,

We had a great holiday. The hotel looks great, we had a wonderfull time!
When we arrived we were driven to our room by Nagdat, he has a great sence of humor and he is very helpfull. If you have questions he is always prepared to help you!

I would like to recommand one of the waiters out of the main restaurant. His name is Mahmoud he is the skiny young tall waiter. He is always working very hard and see the work. Although he is still young I would keep an eye one him and help him to grow into an Managers job. These are the people you need to make your hotel into a success.

The food in the main restaurant is the best I already ate in Egypt (I already visited 5 times). The choices are not enourmously but that doesn't matter the taste of most things are good. The food was not cold all dishes were heated.

There are some other things that could be improved:
When the sun is early under I would recommand to change the hours off the show. I listed to the other Dutch people and the all said the same, the show was to late. After the kids club the show should start at 9.00 or 9.30 pm at the latest. There would be more people to come and watch the show.

The restaurants: we visited the Thai restaurant but that evening it was very windy and cold so we asked if we could go inside. This was a problem for the waiter. I think his name was Ibrahim (blue eyes, little man). I checked and the restaurant was half full so this is not a nice experience. On top of this we ordered the Tum Yam Kung soup but she was not available. (we were asked to take something else). My husband ordered the main dish with cashew nuts but again he was asked to take something (not available anymore).

So overall a nice holiday!

Returned from here Monday 18th March 2013 after a weeks stay. Both of us over 50. Just before leaving the Hotel we both sat down and discussed what could be improved. These are our only grouses. The need to improve the temperature of some of the food in the Main Buffet area. Coffee at breakfast brought up to the same standard as that in the other bars ect. Coffee & Tea making facilities in the room why was there no powdered creamer. Restaurant booking system needs looking at. We did manage to book 3 different Restaurants during our stay so all was not lost. Waiter service around the Pool areas and Beach would not go amiss.
On the plus side we have stayed in two 5 star Sharm Hotels and this was the best one yet. From the comfort of the rooms especially the beds to the facilities all around the Hotel and as mentioned by previous visitors the Hotel staff were top notch. It would not be possible to thank them all. During our week we were not greeted by anything but smiles even from the gardeners. A nice touch at the end was letting us keep our room on at no extra charge.

Room Tip: Quiet pool and sun on balcony ask for Dahlia or Tulip. There are only two floors.

We spent 9 days here in February and enjoyed most things, in my opinion not 5 star, it has a long way to go to reach that standard. However the plus points are the staff, special mention for Lauren in customer service she made things happen when her collegues shrugged their shoulders and said it was not possible.

****Book the restaurants as soon as you arrive as they only take around 40 people per evening and they get booked very quickly*****

We ate in all the fine dining restaurants and for us the best was the Seafood with amazing the views over the bay followed closely by the Indian cuisine. The buffet restaurant was not to our liking certainly not up to the standard of other all inclusive hotels that we have been. It needs an area where you can choose your ingredients and have it freshly cooked.

Cocktails are sadly hit & miss mainly because the barman don't have enough of the ingredients required to make what we would expect in good hotels/bars. However tell the barmen how you would like it and they are happy to oblige if they can!
The rooms are spacious although the standard of finishing especially in the bathrooms is appalling, this is why it will never be 5 star.

We enjoyed our stay but the quality of build leaves a lot to be desired, it only opened in the summer of last year and already it is looking tired especially around the main pool. I am aware that it was left unfinished for 5 years because of the unrest in the country but it does not bode well for the future if they don't get on top of the problems now.
