“Beyond a hotel!”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

What a fantastic holiday we have just had!!! This is our 5th time in Egypt. I was a little apprehensive about booking a new hotel but I decided to research the company behind this hotel and was comforted by what I read. We were greeted with a drink and sat down to check in. Mohamed Nagdat the concierge came back to show us our room and I explained what we needed to make our holiday special i.e. a room close to all amenities because we had our three and a half year old boy with us. A separate bed for him, a large room to accommodate luggage without tripping over. He came back after 5 minutes and said it was all done, at no extra charge! He drove us to the room and gave us a tour on the way. Once in the room we were not disappointed - it was a very big room, two double beds, balcony, loads of room with a table and chairs and a full size sofa!
The quality of the fittings and materials in the room are of a very high standard but unfortunately, the finishing is a let down. This seems to be a common problem with Egyptian workmanship. The general feel and layout of the hotel is great. The lobby and terrace area is spacious and a good area to congregate after evening dinner. The midnight/churchill bar and Mayfair tea rooms are a fantastic touch befitting a five star hotel. The amphitheatre is set out to the front of the hotel which ensures that you are not hounded by loud music.
The main buffet restaurant has a good choice of food and we can report any tummy troubles. It is not the biggest choice we have seen but is perfectly adequate. The service here was hit and miss but after our first day when we got to know the extremely hard working waiting staff, we were able to tell them not to take our plates too early. They are definitely experiencing teething problems and the staff are learning quickly with how to deal with service. We had an issue with the egg station chef who was quite frankly miserable - a word with Sayed and the chef's attitude was far improved for the rest of our stay. My biggest advice is - communicate with the staff and management here, do not pent up any frustration but tell the waiters if you are not happy or tell management of any issues. They have to resolve them immediately and remember the Egyptian way is different to the British way - be forth right and demand what you need when you are in the right.
We only used the Indian al carte restaurant which we have to say was a delight. The chef Praveen came to speak to us for our feedback and as we said to him, the flavours were aromatic, food not overly spicy and genuinely tasty. It is more akin to an upmarket Indian restaurant rather than the local Balti house!
The accommodation blocks are laid out in rows angled to face the sea and a pool and all have names taken after flowers. There are high quality rattan type loungers laid around the pools and even on top of room blocks (clever touch) so you can either lounge in privacy or around a pool where it is livelier. We stayed around the pool which was great as we spoke with other guests and the animation team. The pool bar was busy and service for food was slow. We just ordered alot earlier to fix this!
The beach does is a good walk down some terraces where blocks are being finished off. There is no construction noise, just internal room work so no bother on that front. The pergola beach restaurant is a good touch and serves a good menu of snacks. As for the beach itself, you can walk straight into the sea but you hit coral quite soon so best to use the jetty’s. There is a good deal of space on this beach and compared to some hotels, is very accessible. The sand is the usual gritty sand as opposed to fine sand. The snorkelling is excellent as the jetty is built over the reef, therefore, you see the fish without having to swim out. There were loungers laid out and four poster bed type booths which were excellent. The towel guys cannot do enough and are very adept at learning your behaviour and anticipating which lounger you will use!
The animation team are great fun, they kept us entertained without being in your face. As for the DJ, DJ Twist is a maestro, he is the resident DJ at the Pasha nightclub so we were very lucky to have him entertain us poolside, amphitheatre and disco. He has a great catalogue of music and is upto date.

The last few days of our stay saw an influx of Egyptian guests and the hotel felt full. We initially thought that this will be problematic and whilst the restaurants were “tested” management quickly adapted and opened up more restaurants and gave us all free wifi anywhere in the hotel! The Egyptian guest were also great fun, they seemed to just enjoy themselves like everybody else.
We must give a big thanks to all the staff here but specifically to Sayed who is the front office manager, Mohammed Nagdat the concierge, Mustafa and Farag in the restaurant. A Rauf at the pool bar and churchills bar. Amy, Nani, Katia, Masha, Socar from animation and most definitely DJ Twist who played just the right kind of music at the right times!
For us, this was a great holiday and this hotel is destined to be a big hit.
Our biggest tip is to communicate with the staff, management and other guests. If there is a problem or gripe, speak to them, it worked for us.

Room Tip: We were upgraded to a room with two double beds and sofa, close to the pool and restaurants in the T...

The rooms are lovely and spacious. Huge comfy bed. My only negative on the bed was the 4 pillows are all very firm. Advise to the hotel would be have 2 soft & 2 firm to suit all customers. This wasnt a problem for us though. Just nice to have choice when paying for 5 star. Bathroom is big. Has all toiletries and even tooth brush and paste. Only a shower, no bath. We are both shower people so no problem for us. Good selection of TV channels in English with all sports and movies. Safety deposit box, iron & ironing board. Fridge is stocked with a selection of soft drinks for free which was a nice touch. Restaurants were Thai, Indian, Arabian & Mediterranean all al carte and free of charge for 1 visit. There was also a Italian but they were working on this. The French was pay only. Food in the Indian and Thai was of a very high standard. The buffet restaurant always had a good selection of food at dinner and breakfast. Staff always on hand with food and drink. The red wine was really nice. White and Rose ok. Has a 24 hour bar serving all drinks. Nice bar. Nightclub next to it with evening entertainment. Swimming pool was warm. The sun loungers were the most comfortable I've ever had at a hotel. Has a gym, spa and beauty rooms. Free shuttle to shopping Malls. Staff can't do enough for you here. Enjoyed the jokes and banter I had with various ones throughout our stay. Worth taking small change to show your appreciation to the ones who take an interest in looking after you, seems to go a long way. All in all a great stay and would definitely go back sometime. Thank you to those who made our stay.

as we arrived at a very impressive resort , from the start we could tell the atmosphere was quiet but everybody was trying to give good service, from the manager mr sayed to the driver of the golf buggy taking you to your room and all the staff in between, the rooms are large the pool area tastefully done and in general a very clean and well run hotel,
lots of steps take you to a nice beach,on the way you pass lots of freindly workmen still finishing parts of the hotel ,there is noise but its ok , on the food front in general its all ok the speciality restaurants were all ok and the buffet provided you with a varied selection but sometimes the food could have been hotter,to say 5star would be generous but a very good 4 or 4.5 it just needed better entertainment at night very quiet

Before we go on to describe how very pleased we were with our holiday...you need to know this.

Not all, but most of the bad reviews are from Russians. From the non-existence of manners to the attitude they give the staff is disgraceful. The staff will do anything for you and are always so pleasant.

Food was excellent, a great variety and prompt table service for drinks. Waiters are friendly and happy to talk. Receptionists are very informative and customer relations Lauren was very helpful. The variety of restaurants were fantastic and wine was also lovely! The food is freshly prepared every meal time and never suffered with any illnesses whatsoever.

Rooms are impeccably clean everyday, around the pool, everywhere was spotless!!!

Staff were amazing in every corner of the complex and do not expect tips. Special thanks to the cocktail bar staff with the creativity and how attentive they are through out the night. If you are looking for some sun, relaxation, fantastic food and service then this is the place you need to be!!

We are definitely going back next year and would strongly recommend a stay here.

When the hotel is fully finished it WILL be the NUMBER ONE hotel in Sharm because there are no other hotels like it here. As soon as some Russians stop moaning and learn manners the hotel will be recognised for how amazing it really is.

A very kind thank you to all the staff who made our holiday one of the best yet :)

Room Tip: Camellia or Azalea block :)

On our arrival at Arabian beach we were met by front desk manager Mr. Sayed, a very amiable and helpful man. He took us through the reception area onto the outside terrace overlooking the main pool. He the settled us down and got us some drinks. He explained to us about the new hotel, it is the 5* plus flagship of the sunrise group. It is situated on a sloping site and built on five levels. Despite this everywhere can be reached by wheelchair, which is good for us. The main pool is very large and is heated, even in January it is a delight to go in it. At the side is a sloping entrance, done to look like sand, though it is ridged concrete, and so is non slip and very safe to gradually enter the pool. The pool depth is around four feet and again is very safe for infirm and non swimmers, which is good for my handicapped wife. The animation team work here, but play very quiet soothing music, much nicer than the disco style music heard in many hotels. This hotel is geared to a higher standard of clientele, not just rowdy boisterous people.
There are many pools as you go down from one level to another. On top of some of the roofs are artificial grassed area for relaxing and soaking up the sun in a very peaceful way. Right at the bottom are exclusive suites with their own check in facilities and their own pools, two of these. The chairs and loungers are the very best you will see, so comfortable. Also at the bottom is the beach restaurant, where snacks can be had during the day. The beach itself is a glorious expanse of sand, with sunbeds, sunshades and even many cabana style shelters. the only part a wheelchair cannot access directly is from the beach restaurant to the beach itself, there are about a dozen steps, but wheelchairs don't do sand anyway. It can be left by the restaurant and the very, very helpful staff will escort you onto the beach, nothing is too much trouble for them. I will later put many photos on here to show everything more clearly.
About the restaurants,so many, I hope I don't miss any out. Near to the beach is also the wooden built fish restaurant, very delightful. The other restaurants are all situated under the large terraced area, there's the main buffet restaurant where you can sit inside or out and help yourself to many, many, choices of food. Too many to mention. There are also Italian, Thai, French and Indian restaurants, apologies if I have missed any off, please check the website or brochures. Other amenities are the spas and the well equipped gym, plus a large array of on site shops. A tea and coffee lounge, etc, etc.
The rooms are all different classes, but even the standard rooms are beautifully and tastefully decorated with very comfortable beds, and lovely bathrooms. This is a very attractive hotel.
Mr. Farouk the general manager is a very genial person who wishes the guests to be happy and enjoy their stay. He will help guests in every way possible. It is difficult in one review to cover everything. The animation team is quite sparse, but they are very friendly happy people who do their best to put on good entertainment. Outside shows come in to support them, eg. dance troupes, in very colourful costumes. I'm sure this will improve with experience. The spa area has a general spa and a private spa area, with jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, shower and private toilet, again see the photos I put on. So brilliant. The staff, from managers to gardeners, right through the range of staff are absolutely wonderful, can't praise them too highly. There is a sunken poolside bar at the main pool, which can serve you in a small seating area next to it, or seated in the pool itself, or the waiters will bring your drinks to your poolside sunbed, it's up to you. I cannot give too much praise to this hotel, management, staff and facilities, it's got to be seen by yourselves to experience the best in hospitality. Please watch for the photos, I will add them as soon as possible. Frank C

We have just returned from a 2 week stay here. We took our 3 year old grand-daughter and chose it because of the good reviews. We always use tripadvisor but this time it's hard to understand the most positive of the reviews!

This is a difficult review to write because the Hotel has so much potential and could be fantastic but the running of it is just so hit and miss.

The grounds of the hotel are wonderful, really clean and tidy and on a few levels. A pleasure to sunbathe at the pools and loads of sunloungers. Some areas are a bit unsafe to let your little ones run around but you always need to keep your eye on them anyway :-). If you have kiddies in buggies its not easy! Loads of steps!

I'd be shocked if this was really a brand new hotel. Parts of it obviously are (and are still being built, which wasn't a problem and discreet) but it was questionable whether our room was, although this wasn't important to us. We would have appreciated hot water though - especially on arriving after a day of travelling! We called Reception the following morning about it and it 'seemed' someone had been to fix it while we were at breakfast. I say seemed 'cos there was a very strong smell of smoke in the room on returning so I presumed a workman had been smoking while fixing the problem. However after a week of the bathroom stinking of smoke we realised that it was actually coming through the vent from the room next door!!!

We were told to run the water for about 5 minutes before using the shower and the hot water would come through. It did! Still, not what you'd really want to do but we just got used to it. After the first week the shower would fill up cos the drainage was blocked but to be fair they came to fix this immediately.

Our mini bar was not 'stocked' as some people have had. Ours had two cartons of orange juice, a can of coke, a can of sprite and one other soft drink. The fridge was never even on!

The room was cleaned and made up every day to high standard. The floors were swept every day but having spilt some suncream one day and cleaning it up we realised they were actually filthy, but looked clean.

To be fair a lot of the pool and bar staff were wonderful but we felt sorry for them, especially the Animation Team. Sokar (Chief Animation), Amy & Kat worked very hard and were very friendly but to be honest it seemed to us that the Hotel must have been on an economy drive! All they had to work with, apart from the water aerobics, dancing and stretching was a set of darts and a couple of beach games! Flogging a dead horse comes to mind!

Evening entertainment was not good. Again the Animation Team tried their best but some of the acts were abysmal. Belly dancing four times in a fortnight??? Spinning man, who was very talented actually, but three times in the fortnight???

Food was adequate but cold a lot of the time. Again it seemed that the chef may have had his purse strings pulled! Especially with the staffing in the main restaurant. In the first ten days we actually ended up setting a table for ourselves as they were so short staffed the waiters couldn't cope. Either that or there was nobody managing! However in the last few days this seemed to be under control and tables were cleared and set swiftly and the restaurant looked more like a restaurant rather than a chaotic school canteen.

We only tried the Indian restaurant and the med one. The menu choice was far too limited (children not really catered for) so we stuck to the International buffet.

Pools were lovely but the children's pool was freezing for three days. The slides are a great feature but the water was too cold for the kids to enjoy. There seemed to be a problem with heating the pools. There was never a time when all the pools were bearable, although again. when they were they were wonderful! Maybe another cost cutting exercise?

Sorry if this is a very mixed bag but it really is! We can only think that perhaps the hotel is trying to run before it can walk? A 'soft opening' is not really a good idea when staff are still being trained. It becomes an expensive trial run for those guests who are victim to the teething problems.

All-in-all, as I said earlier, this hotel has fantastic potential and I really hope they get it together, especially for the hardworking members of staff. It's great that some guests had a fantastic stay, however for us it's 5* rating leaves a lot to be desired at this time. Its a 3* at best at the moment.

Room Tip: If you have babies in buggies then ask for a room on the first level, otherwise you;re going to have...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your constructive feedback, we take all feedback very seriously and will try to resolve any issues you have faced.

At our resort 50% of our rooms are smoking, if a guest would like a non smoking room, we can do this for them if they request this.

i apologise that you didnt have hot water, this is unacceptable and we are resolving this issue, We are happy to hear though that are staff are working quickly and efficientally.

As per our all inclusive we offer soft drinks free once upon arrival.

We are at the moment hiring new staff for our annimation to ensure that we have a good range of entertainment shows and programs for our guests.

Yes we still have limited menus as we have low occupancy at the moment and also we are still in the pre opening stage.

We expect to have teething issues and we appreciate all of guests to give us feedback . Also if you tell us whilst you are in the resort we can do our best to resolve any issues for you.

We hope that you will return one day to our resort so that we can show an amazing time.
