I only dived with Camel, didnt stay in the hotel because we had one non-diver with us and he prefered a all-in-resort to relax when we were diving.
Camel dive club used to feel like a warm family, I've been diving 3 years with them (about 50 dives), but now the guides are not interacting much with the guests anymore. You only see them during the briefings, the rest of the time they stay inside and chat to eachother I guess. It used to be more fun. The dive briefings are a bit overexited, but perhaps they are instructed to try to fire up the guests, anyway, the imported things are all mentionned and the safety instructions are good. Boats are very nice, I was so fortunate to spend most days on the President 2, one of the nicest boats to my opinion. Their material is getting a bit old, they should do a couple more checks, especially for leaking regs. 2 People on our boat had a leaking 2nd stage, but there was only 1 spare... It wasn't gutting out, but still, it doesnt make you feel completely comfortable.
My friend pre-ordered 3 15-liter tanks for every day; he uses so much more air that otherwise his dives are very short . Apparently it is too difficult to remember to keep 3 tanks available. They even gave one away to another guest who didnt oreder the 15 liter. When we wanted to do the 3th dive, every time the tanks were empty. We complained and they'll tell you that they wont charge you the 15 liter. Well: I most certainly think so, but the money isnt the problem (think its about 1,5 euro's) the problem is that my friend has to go up too early. I would pay more if it meant that they managed to count to three....
Also I think that when you climb back on the boat they can instruct the othere guests to make some room so you can get your tank in one of the holes. I am not a softy, but having to wait a long time isnt much fun. They used to help out the guests more, chat a bit after every dive, I miss that personel touch. Of course they also have very friendly instructors working there, but last vacation we had 2 rather quiet days and 2 good ones. That used to be a 100% great!
It all sounds bad, but all and all Camel is a very nice dive school. They pick you up from every hotel, have friendly instructors working there, the dyas with them are very relaxing, and I would book them again. Special thanks to Tamer, David and Beth; you guys are great and made our holiday (again!)!
