We stayed in this hotel in June, a few things to say the room was clean and well looked after great view over the main pool from the balcony. We only got one large bottle of water in the fridge the night we arrived and nothing thereafter. There was no fight for sun loungers and the parasols were fixed into the ground so greedy russians couldnt steal them! Nice gentle music around the pool. Spa was amazing the staff were lovely and it was so modern with an elegant touch. The waterpark isnt as amazing as the pictures point out but still good fun! The food was the worst part of the hotel it was either horrible or all tasted the same basically of nothing! Struggled to eat much as neither my partner or I could find anything we liked. Staff weren't very friendly, reception staff were the worst! No ice cream except in the kids club! On site shops expensive all normal stuff is expensive everywhere!!

Stayed for two weeks and loved it. Staff looking after us were all brilliant - especially in the European restaurant and in the lobby bar. People who have complained about the food I don't understand as there are so many different places to eat and if you are one of those that goes abroad and wonders why you get foreign food there is even an English style pub next door to the hotel. Had no problems with upset stomachs (most of which are caused by sunstroke) Yes the hotel could do with a bit of a touch up here and there but have a wander into some of the other hotels in the area and you will find most are the same. The entertainment as it states in the brochure is low key but we used this as an opportunity to meet and chat with other people. We also took our 13 year old daughter and it wasn't long before she made friends and then we barely saw her and we had to drag her out of the pools most days. As for the wifi yes its not very good but its a poor state if you cant go without facebook for a couple of weeks!!

On another note there was a young girl from another hotel who was missing while we were there and it was amazing to see how many of our hotels staff turned out to search for her - thankfully she was found safe further along the beach.

Overall enjoyed this holiday so much going back again.

One final piece of advice, so that you understand what to expect in Egypt generally have a quick read of a travel guide for Egypt/Sharm el Sheik

Room Tip: Stopped in 17302, go up on the roof for beautiful sunsets over the mountains

Nothing but negative comments from me for this hotel. We stayed here for 2 weeks all inclusive.
Same food everyday, cold food, pre-cooked food, Arabs take over the place. Nothing to do for children at night time. Flies everywhere, no attempt to control
Thomson rate this hotel a 4* plus, the hotel rate itself 5*. I rate it a 3*
Health & safety issues everywhere.
We ourselves had a good holiday, bug the hotel certainly did not meet our expectations. We was afvthrvreps desk everyday with complaints. These are now bring dealt with in the uk. stay well clear of sea scope. £40 per head just to see same fish as on the beach!

Before booking with First Choice Myself, my wife and son always take the time to check with Trip Advisor about the resort or hotels. when we read some of the reviews we took an overall decision that maybe just maybe this would be good for us. we set off from Gatwick for two weeks at the start of August.

Upon arriving late that evening, we were told that there was a late dinner available in the main restaurant. The chap who dropped us to our room just pointed his finger in the direction of the restaurant. After asking a few people on the way we got there.

The three pools that are on offer are of a very poor/average quality. The slides are old and damaged and whilst we were there, several children managed to injure themselves. One in particular broke an arm.

The room, only the real possitive was rather spacious and the air conditioning worked extremely well. Having tipped (for an all inclusive, if you don't tip you don't get the service) the cleaner on a regular basis he did leave towel art on our beds.

My family and I are vegetarians and on 4 occassions we were served meat, even though we ordered from the Al-a-cart menu's or when we ate in the main restaurant. One occassion there was Vegetable Lasagne on the menu at the main restaurant, so i ventured and took a portion, however, on close examination the vegetables were in-fact BEEF. As a Hindu that is a very huge insult.

Having complained to the catering manager Mr EHAB, who in my opinion was the best employee, he was very aplogetic and informed us that for the rest of our stay the head chef will be cooking all our meals on a daily basis, this was brilliant....Thank you Mr Ehab...

After about four days into our trip, the festival of ramadan had finished and Eid celebrations had started, what we did not know was that the hotel quickly fills up with Locals from Egypt and Palastine. Parents who could not or did not want to control their kids. kids having a blatant piddle in the pool, throwing food into the pool and the parents did not say anything.

Life guards at the pool were scarce until one day, a young English girl broke her arm on one of the kids slides. A group of young Egyptian kids were climbing up the slide the wrong way and they got into a tangle.

Sunbeds were hard to find during this period and if you tipped the pool guy he would secure your sunbeds each morning. This is a good idea, however, the local visitors did not like this and very often they would remove your towel(s) and replace with theirs or simply use your towels and then claim ignorance.

British Thompson kids club was non-existant (Gemma from Scotland did try her best), but if you booked with Thompson Holland, they had a very good kids club. My son being 11 years of age managed to make friends and was always occupied.

Some of the night entertainment was poor, but the Animation team did try their best, they would come round on a daily basis around the pool and actually take an interest in you. Big thank you to Gemma, donut head, Tom from Wales, Tony the I-Ti.. and all the others whose names I cannot remember..... shame Thompson reps did not do this, unless you booked a number of excursions with them.

Having being humiliated with the beef saga, I decided to complain to the general manager, who in my opinion was a waste of time. His answer was, this is the best hotel in Egypt with the best facilities and it was my responsibility to make sure that I checked what I was eating even though the labels and menu's state vegetarian.

After many meetings with this man, holiday reps & Mr Ehab and threatening to sue the hotel for breach of Human Rights the Manager agreed to give me an extension to my room for the last day.

In my opinion this is no more than a 3* and Thompson should really consider moving their business elsewhere.

Room Tip: Block 4 was by far the best block for rooms & location.

This was my fourth visit to this hotel, yes I have tried others and visited other countries. If you want somewhere to have a relaxing holiday where you will be looked after then this is the place.I have already booked for next year.I return there because I know there is a good variety of food, entertainment and the chance to unwind.I take my 5year old grandaughter who would be devastated if I went without her, even at 5 she adores this place and it's people.Ruby always has a fantasic time there,my husband and I have taken her since she was 18months old. I understand from the Thomson rep that there is to be a refurbishment for next year. The rooms are spotless ,so please Tropicana do not price yourself out of the market after this.

I cannot reccomend this place highly enough. The staff are friendly and helpful, from a waiter to a cleaner they are eager to please. Thanks to A.Emoule who always took the time to entertain our grandaughter and always remembers us as soon as we walk in.We were sad to learn Farouek had moved but his replacement is a friendly guy.

There is some thing for everyone at this hotel.Anyone who finds fault must be hard to please. These people work very hard over long hours ,but remain cheerful.

The problems in this country are regrettable and I do not claim to understand the politics of it all, however at The Tropicana it was business as usual,we were oblivious to the problems in Cairo whilst there.I feel deeply for these people whom are simply trying to make a living. The Resort was,as far as I was aware unaffected by problems elsewhere. I would get on a plane and go there again today if I could.

This was mine and my partners first visit to Egypt and it won't be our last!
We was very apprehensive about coming to Sharm El Sheikh and staying at this hotel due to some of the reviews we had read leading up to our holiday. Luckily we decided to ignore the bad reviews and when we arrived the reviews where proved wrong.
Our room was a bit tatty but we didn't go on holiday to stay in the room so it didn't bother us at all! The themed restaurants are lovely especially the English restaurants which had great variety and wonderful service. We spent our evening at the lobby watching the entertainment till early hours of the morning with another couple we had met. Our favourite pool was the quiet pool right by the lobby but we had to get up quite early so that we had the same beds every day! It was lovely to sunbathe and then hop in the pool to cool down and have a drink by the swim up bar.
We really enjoyed going snorkelling at the end of the jetty, we went there 3 times to snorkel and we had never seen anything like it! We bought some snorkelling shoppes and a snorkel for £20 in a shop on the beach. The fish were amazing. They where so big and colourful we couldn't believe our eyes!
If I was to go back again I would not leave the hotel as the people are pests that are on the street!
I defiantly advise everyone to ignore the bad reviews and go to this hotel!!! For the price you can't go wrong!

Booked this holiday as a last minute and was automatically upgraded to a Junior Suite and in hind site was a very good move. Arriving at the airport it is very chaotic which doesn't help with the lack of organisation and space. The other negative aspect was people pushing in when you were queuing and being blatant about it almost like it was a right that they could do it. You only need a visa if you are leaving Sharm to visit Luxor or Cairo although if you are considering doing one of the trips it might be worth it as trying to get a visa at the airport as its difficult to get one in the resort. Arriving at the hotel was busy although the staff managed it well and the only waiting we encountered was waiting for a staff member to show us where our room was. The only negative was that although they took you to your room and told you at there was some food available in the main restaurant the directions to that is limited. The food available on our arrival was pasta, bread, salad, cheese etc. what would have been useful to know is that we could have used the Exec Lounge which has nibbles etc until 2am. We used the main restaurant for the next mornings breakfast and were not impressed with the choice etc. We attended the usual welcome meeting which was very informative until the local rep delivered the 2nd part and waffled on far too much so information overload. We discovered where the Aquarium Restaurant was which us in the Reception area and if you look opposite where the Thomson area us you will see it. The food, staff and ambience was amazing. My mum is a fussy eater but she loved it and that takes some doing. In relation to the hotel grounds etc very pretty, good location, good beach and excellent jogging paths. I wanted to use the hotel gym which had a good range of equipment etc but enjoyed having the opportunity to jog outside. The spa staff constantly hassle you to purchase a treatment which once you have bought one they leave you alone. The treatment that me and my mum had was fab though but do haggle. The entertainment staff do try very hard and a couple of shows they put on was good although the others were dire one included two men on the stage dressed as babies crying not appropriate. The executive lounge was a good place to sit in the evenings if you wanted some quiet and to cool down. Going outside just to walk was okay but as soon as you show an interest in the shops you constantly get hassled you have to be quite rude to get the message across that you are not interested which you shouldn't have to do as they take offence. All in all a nice girlie break but do always wear a wedding ring as it is assumed as you are on holiday with your mama that you are single. Our flight coming back was delayed and the airport was quite small which I was quite surprised about considering how popular it is.
