“Fantastic holiday!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Stayed October half term. Second visit to Sharm and we were trying to book back into the Sol y Mar Sharks Bay after visiting 18 months ago and really liking it. However it was full and the next option was the Tropicana Grand Azure. I was worried because of the size of the complex and that it would be busy and lacking in service - there was no need to worry! The standard of the accommodation was brilliant. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. All the restaurants were top class. The public areas were immaculate - the gardens were beautifully kept. The staff were also helpful and polite and the service was amazing. The pool areas were well maintain - even tho it was half term and the hotel was quite full, there was still plenty of room and the main large pool with its many different shore areas meant it never seems busy. the beach was beautiful - I cannot praise the set up enough. We visited the spa and had a couple of massages (negotiate on the prices!) and they were very good. The facial wasnt so good, but was an experience! I travelled with a female friend and my 12 yr old daughter and as a female party we felt safe at all times. We got the shuttle bus into Soho square one evening and went outside the hotel complex to the shops and bars a couple of times, never got overly hassled and never felt threatened in any way. All in all - great holiday, great hotel, great people!

Room Tip: A large cpmplex so weigh up what is important when choosing the rooms - by the beach will be a 15 mi...

Just stayed at the tropicana grand azure for a lovely weeks break. What can I say but wow to all the staff they are brilliant with you. You are never without a drink as they watch when you are ready and bring one over, its like a bottomless glass. The restaurants you book are very good but it takes time for them to serve everyone. The main restaurant food is very good and plenty of it. The pools are brilliant for both adults & children and there are lots of activities for both too. The rooms are nice and clean and the shower is good. The only one down side is there are a lot of steps. Overall for us a fantastic holiday.

I can't figure out how this hotel got such rate on trip advisor!!!! The stuff is extreamly low standard, the rooms are very old fashion, the pools are not clean at all, the food is not fresh! the price is very high in comparison with other hotels that are better than it ... Don't screw up your vacation as happened with me

Left warm and friendly Grand Azure on 18th October. My husband and I are well travelled, so much so we did not listen to the inane words of some of the complainers re. this hotel. Go see for yourself is our motto. We did, and took our two teenage Grandchildren with us. Reception area is lovely, with staff to match, couldn't do enough for us. Rooms were spacious and clean. Ashraf, head waiter in Marrakesh Buffet restaurant made us very welcome. The breakfast and lunch buffet had something to suit everyone. We dined in the al la carte restaurants in the evening, lovely restaurant settings with very attentive waiters, and the food was good and very well presented. The pizza served at the Tropicana Restaurant on the beach is very good. Ahmed served us pre dinner drinks in the reception lounge each evening and was a pleasure to know. We used the hotel taxi's and found them helpfull and well priced. We booked our tours through Maximus at Falcon Adventure and would highly reccommend them, just 5oo yds to the right as you leave the hotel. Prices are excellent. As we had a late flight home we extended our room and all inclusive for 6 hrs for £30 excellent service and value. Take sterling with you, dont change money before you go, the rate is better in Sharm el Sheik. Take plenty of £1 coins for tipping, they are quite happy to receive coins for tips and much cleaner than some of their notes. As a precaution, take PROB107 tablets from Holland and Barrett, reinforces the body's immune system, fights foreign bugs. I am returning to the Grand Azure with friends in February.

My Husband and I have just returned from 1 week at the Grand Azure, and let me say that 1 week wasnt enough :)
Everything about our holiday was first class, and it is unusual for me to want to return to a place, as there is so much of the world to see, but I really feel that I would love to stay there again.
The Staff were all so very welcoming and friendly, and couldn't do enough for us. Sherife who cleaned our room made us feel very special by adding certain touches like a vase of freshly cut flowers and lovely "towel art sculptures" during our stay, and the waiting staff including Mahamad in the marakesh restaurant were super attentive and so good.
The hotel itself is kept spotlessly clean all the time, and there is always someone either cleaning, tidying, or gardening. The food is good, always piping hot and filling, with a different choice everyday, we ate in the mediterranean restaurant and also the Italian restaurant once during our stay too which was lovely, with waiter/table service.
The beach was to die for, such comfy loungers and towels provided under lovely parasols.
And as Scuba divers and avid snorkellers, the jetty with such great access from the beach to the red seas fantastic marine life was just perfect. We snorkelled a lot, and saw many beautiful fish and even small grey moray eels under the pier, it was a fish lovers paradise. :)
The room had very efficient air conditioning, and a safe and fridge that was included in the price, the bed was huge ( must have been a super king size at least )
Our holiday rep was Monsen from Thomson holidays, and he was very knowledgable and helped us to book 2 superb excursions to Cairo by internal flight, and also the sinai by starlight trip into the desert on camels to see how the bedouins live which we highly recommend.
This is only the 2nd time I have ever written a trip advisor review, which says a lot ! I want to thank everyone of the staff at the Grand Azure who served us in some way during our stay, and say keep up the excellence ! Thank you. From Sarah & Graham Bowley.

Please ignore the negative reviews. This hotel is fantastic, the food is excellent, the quiet pool very clean and relaxing, the rooms are of good standard. Yes places do need a lick of paint, but it truely should not ruin your holiday or justify a low score. This is our second trip to the Tropicana Grand Azure and I would certainly go back. The staff are brilliant and really helpful, they go out of their way to make your stay comfy, they remember your drink and bring them to your sun bed without having to ask, and this is before we tip. I dont tip till the end of the holiday and did not feel anyone treated us any different. The food is really good, I went with my sister and brother in law this time, and they hated Egypt previous due to the food. They loved it and found plenty to choose from and plenty of flavour. We ate most nights in the al a carte, but did use the main restaurant in the mornings and lunchtime and always found something that we enjoyed. If I have to complain it would be the lack of evening entertainment, which the hotel could do a little to give an atmosphere in the evenings, this would make it a perfect holiday. However just outside the hotel are bars and a few clubs which always have different entertainment. So give this place a chance and enjoy your holiday.

Room Tip: Go for the superior rooms around the pools, they are roomy and in a perfect location

We returned from the Grand Azure on the 22nd of October after spending a week here. It was great. True the hotel could do with a bit of new paint in places but higher management were walking the main pool areas taking note of the tired areas when we were there. That in my view is the only small negative however.

The atmosphere, choice of pools and bars, food, terraces and overall surroundings were lovely.

The Marrakesh buffet restaurant had a good choice of food at every meal, and was open for late breakfasts and late dinners so food was available practically all the time. Add to this the submarine sandwich bar serving fresh baguettes, the beach bar serving burgers, fish, fries, kebabs and hotdogs, and the Tropicana restaurant serving fresh pizzas, pastas and salads until 5pm. If you are wanting a bit of pampering then just book into the al la carte Italian, Chinese, Seafood, or Mediterranian as part of the all inclusive and have a sit down waiter served dinner. I cant see anyone not finding something nice to eat.

The staff were all good fun and helpful. Yes we did tip, but we never felt as if we had to. Our room was spotless and we went back to the room to collect things on two occasions and our beds had been pulled out with the housekeeper busily cleaning under the beds. Plus he left us flowers. A nice touch.

There seemed to be something happening at the lively Dolphin pool and the ampitheatre every day and eve and the kids looked well catered for. We spent our nights at the lobby bars and outside terraces. Entertainment there was low key but that is typically egyptian. The drinks were good and we enjoyed every evening. We enjoyed the company of all the staff but Amir who is in charge of the lobby was fantastic.

We had a late flight so we extended our room and all inclusive for 6 hours. At a good value cost of 300 egyptian. Another nice touch was a knock at our room door at 5pm. The porter asking us would we like our cases taking down to the foyer. I also needed a copy of my passport which was provided by the reception staff free of charge.

The hotel made us feel as if nothing was too much trouble.

Room Tip: The hotel is so vast that no room is particularly close to everything.
