“Lovely hotel!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 22, 2011

Very clean hotel great location for couples with small children my daughter loved the main pool on the new side the most the animation team r so friendly and love the kids and babies always asking you to join in with activities..All of the guys in the resterant and by the pool work very hard and deserve a pat on the back they made us feel very welcome always there to help. Food was nice some peoples expectations on here r why to high your not in the UK your not going to get fish n chips, and English food everyday breakfast is really good though! We paid 1,160 for a week all in and was worth the money. If your looking for a quite clean relaxing holiday then this hotel is the one.. I went to naama bay once and didn't like it, it was to busy and crowded.

Stayed here for the 3rd time & once again had a fantastic time. Brilliant holiday from start to finish. We organised private transfer from the Airport to the Hotel before we left England & we were picked up immediately & at the Hotel within minutes of getting our luggage!! We stay on the old side as we love the beach & it seems to have more atmosphere. Our room was fairly close to the beach, which was perfect as my husband loves diving & he was always up early & down on the beach. Room was spotless.
Towel guys at the beach were great, very friendly & helpful. Had no tummy problems & food was good. We always found something we liked.
We had a walk into Soho Square which was enjoyable & also went into Naama Bay a couple of times, all very good.
Didnt see much of the entertainment as we never stayed up late as we always have an early start & were really tired! We love it that much we will be back again in September!!

All comments are a reflection of the current occupancy 40 % and the refurbishment going on. We could list complaints a yard long but this would exhaust us...

Beware being put in the old part - we loved the quiet, but we were treated as second in importance on everything by the management who are incapable of thinking straight at the moment .

The Pool in the old part is a hazard as gratings are broken - surfaces slippery - maintenance limited- but wonderfully quiet which we enjoyed and staff brilliantly pleasant under the circs of reduced services and unfortunately Russians behaving badly.

Food is a problem in this hotel - it is the biggest compaint of all the brits we talked to - aimed at Russian & Egyptian tastes, and very odd interpretations of classic dishes. It says much that many guests sent out for delivery of Macdonalds, Kentucky Fried or Pizza !

Hotel is still insisting on a reservation in some restaurants - even when half empty - Mad !

Insist on being in new part but it is at least 10 mins walk to the private beach which is down a steep slope- There is a shuttle service but rather irregular sometimes.

Renervation works are quite noisy and continue most of the daytime - but be tolerant of this - We had some things not working but hotel never fixed them .

You can now get a fair breakfast in the sunset bar - but this has only been done when we complained.

Beware the wind in the big pool - an umbrella flew off and hit a lady hospitalising her - since then no umbrellas allowed up !

Tips :

Airport is almost only a walk away - get hotel to send a taxi rather than shuttle only costs 75 egyptian each way.

Visa : Airport officials force you into this and is needed if you go off site - not sure of proper cost we paid £13 per person

Soho square is 10 mins slow walk from hotel - lots of shops but for nightlife take a shuttle to Naama bay - very hassled but you can get bags down to circa 150 LE and watches down to the same.

Health ; Very hot Bottled water must be drunk and is supplied free from all bars
There were several cases of Gyppy Tummy - take immodium and broad spectrum antibiotic - which hotel can supply via their Doctor.

Trip to Tiran - much enjoyed - book via dive club if poss

Fishes - just as good off the Hotel jetty as deepwater

In general we enjoyed superb weather (almost too hot) and lovely staff - some were a bit grumpy but most charming . - Beware being sold left over kit from previous owners at Full Price such as Lilo's !

Be prepared if in Old par to suffer closuresw of facilitioes due to low occupancy

Enjoy ! There are over 140 hotels in Sharm - take care in your choice

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you very much for your comments and feedback regarding your stay at the Hilton Sharks Bay.

As you mentioned the occupancy is approximately 40% due to the ongoing political unrest in Egypt and the Middle East. With the reduced occupancy levels we have taken the decision to carry out a refurbishment program to enhance the quality of our bedrooms and the hotel in general. All our guests are upgraded to the new extension during this period unless a guest has specifically asked for a sea view room, which are located in the original wing.

The pool in the original wing undergoes daily safety checks and the grating you refer to have been on order for a number of weeks.

As you know there are 4 restaurants each with different menus, which change regularly and do not over lap each other. Our main restaurants change its menu daily, whilst other restaurants change on regular basis to avoid repetition. The reason we request our guests to book their tables in some of our restaurants is to allow guests the choice of dining with children or without thereby accommodating the different need of our guests.

With regards to the umbrella falling over in the high wind and our decision to not allow them to be opened was out of consideration to our guest health and safety during this windy period. Unfortunately we have no control over the weather, but we took the necessary steps to ensure our guests were protected from any injury.

Once again may I thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Yours sincerely

We have just returned from our first visit to Egypt, at the Hilton Sharks Bay. We had a great time, the hotel complex is excellent. We stayed on the new side, rooms were lovely. All the staff were fantastic and couldnt do enough for you. The only negative would be in relation to the food at lunch and evening meal in the main restaurant. Although there is plenty of choice we didnt feel the quality was always good. There were other options for food at lunch and evening meal at the Italian and Asian ( Asian is not AI),plus there are pool side bars that do burger/chips etc. We were never hungry and it wouldn't put us off returning but we would hope the food did improve on our next visit.

Just back from Hilton Deluxe and from start to finish it was amazing. We were in the new part which I preferred to the older side. the rooms were spacious, light and airy. All of the staff were polite and really knew how to look after you. I have been to many hotels in Sharm & this was the first hotel where the staff were not looking for tips, in fact I had to chase them to give them a tip! I had a massage while I was there and I would recommend getting one, a perfect end to a day of sunbathing around the pool where there was no problem getting a sunbed. Also ate in the Asian restaurant which again I would highly recommend. I can't understand the negative comments some people post I think they must have been at a different hotel to me!! If I had to make a negative comment it would be that there should be free wifi in the rooms - I took my laptop but never used it but I survived a week without checking emails etc. There is free wifi in the main reception but unfortunately it was down while we were there.

I only got back last night but I'm already checking out dates to go back - it is the perfect hotel for rest & relaxation.

We have just returned from a week at HSB. Had a really great time, but wouldn't return there as the food really let it down. Breakfast at the buffet and lunch at Waves pool bar were simple but fine, but lunch and dinner in the buffet restaurant were not. The menu always sounded promising but after three dinners in there we didn't go again - things on the menu were often missing or much plainer than they were described. The meat was really not good, the desserts were usually really dried up, and the salad looked like it had been out for days. I got stomach problems after our very first night which lasted all holiday, but whether or not the food was to blame I can't say. We ate at the Italian 3 times, the first was nice but like in the buffet the food much plainer than described (e.g. toppings missing off pizza). The second two times the menu had changed and was really great. I'd certainly recommend eating there instead of the buffet!

We stayed on the new side, and were in a room at the far end of the complex, closest to the airport. Can honestly say the airport noise didn't bother us whatsoever. It was a bit of walk down to the restaurant, but a nice walk along the well kept grounds around the pools. The pool at that far end is adults only and therefore lovely and quiet which suited us. The two other pools cater well for those with kids, one has a very shallow area and a sand area, and both have a water slide. The guys trying to sell you stuff around the pool were a little annoying but did respond to a firm but polite no thank you! There was plenty of sunbeds, which are really comfy but unfortunately a little tired and many of them don't sit up properly - they really need to invest in getting them fixed! Room itself was really nice, bed was very comfy, and we loved coming back to see what towel art we had got each day! We upgraded to the new side through our travel agent before we left as this was much cheaper than paying the £70 they charge most people for an upgrade on arrival. Finally, we found the sports bar a little loud and bright, but loved Q bar - the bar men and great and the cocktails really nice. All the staff are all fantastic, polite, and cannot do enough for you.

Dear Sir and Madam,

Thank you for choosing the Hilton Sharks Bay Resort for your recent holiday. Your feedback on Trip Advisor is not only essential but is also a helpful tool to measure the level of service we extend to our guests and at the same time provides us with an opportunity to improve our standards.

Please accept our apologies regarding the food. I certainly will be discussing this with Head Chef, who I am confident will take the necessary action. Please note that we have 14 themed menus in our restaurants covering a 2 week period so as to avoid repetition.

Regarding the sun beds, we have taken notes of your comments and will pass it to my Executive Housekeeper for immediate action.

May I thank you for your kind comments regarding our Team Member..

I will also be delighted to have the pleasure to welcoming you back again as one of our many regular guests in the near future.

I stayed in Hilton Sharks bay for only 2 nights , as i had a tight schedule and needed some time off , the hotel is a great place , the rooms are sparkling clean , The staff are doing all they could to make sure you happy at all times , When i got there i was taken to my room on a golf , this hotel is pretty huge and they got a bus service going around the hotel every 15 minutes , i stayed in the northern part overlooking the main swimming pool , with the rate i got i expected the room to be less than Hilton standard , but once i walked into the room , i was amazed , very nice room , in room safe , and tea kettle large LCD TV , nice king bed , spotless sheets , very clean bathroom with marble sink and , the bathroom got walk in shower and bath tub , bathroom phone .
The staff were eager to help in anyway , the beach area was great with plenty of sun loungers , plenty of loungers on the pool as well , The food was OK , i mean it was all inclusive , so it is not like a luxurious 5 stars food , but it was OK , and there was a plenty of choice . and i did enjoy what was served , and if you don't like the all inclusive food , they got A lacarte restaurants .
They got many bars and restaurants all over the hotel either on the beach side or on the main pool side .
they have 2 spas where you can use the spa and jacuzzi for free everyday from 9am to 9 pm , they only charge for a massage , and the rates for massage are pretty reasonable
They got tennis courts and mini golf course and of course a HUGE swimming pool .
My advice is to open HHonors account with Hilton before you check in , when you do that you get extra items at your mini bar for free , and you get late check out for free
Will i go back to this hotel , absolutely
