“never go to this hotel”
Reviewed September 19, 2009

this hotel is the worst hotel i had ever seen because of its very bad restaurant which is very small and there is no any empty table to sit and eat and you have to wait about 15 minuets to sit and also the food is very poor and there is no any variety of food which is only one kind in the day so if you don't like this kind don't eat and still hungry and the treatment of employees is very bad everywhere especially the reception so i had to leave the hotel in the second day in the morning so i advise everyone not to go there .

We stayed at the Coral Beach Tiran for a week in August 2009. After getting through the rather chaotic airport the transfer to the hotel was only 15 minutes. This was just a week in the sun for us with no excursions and if you are doing similar there is no need to get a visa at the airport.
We had a standard room which was large, clean and comfortable. Even though we had declined to pay the extra for a sea view room we had a partial sea view anyway. There was only a shower and no bath which seemed a bit unusual, however the shower was powerful and there was always hot water (beware though, especially with younger children, that the temperature of the water from the mixer taps on its hottest setting can be extremely hot).
You are provided with a 1.5 litre bottle of mineral water for use in your room which has to be collected in the afternoon from the Blue Moon Bar; if you want more than one bottle you have to pay extra for it. All other drinks are served in glasses or, if poolside, plastic beakers.
The main buffet restaurant was pleasant, clean and although the food was not spectacular there was always something on the menu we liked. There are also snacks served at the pool bars during the afternoons eg pizza slices, chips, salad etc.
We spent the days by the Splash Pool which is the pool nearest to the beach/sea. There are two other pools which are quieter but we liked the atmosphere of this pool. The entertainments team at the Splash Pool have quite a good and varied programme to keep you amused such as aquarobics, dance lessons, water polo etc and are not pushy if you don't want to join in. The beach is a bit of a disappointment as it is rather small and the sand is rather gritty and unpleasant. You can't paddle in the sea either as it is very rocky, however there is a pontoon which leads from the beach out past the rocks so you can swim in the deeper water. The water at this spot is very clear and there are loads of amazing and brightly coloured fish so we would recommend taking some goggles. The weather was very hot and sunny every day and we could have sunbathed for 10 hours a day if we wanted.
There is a building site next to the hotel but there did not appear to be any work going on while we were there.
During the evenings we had dinner, played cards in the Moka Cafe (waiter service cafe bar) and watched the evening show in the Roman Theatre. The evening shows were pretty basic but they provided some amusement for an hour or so. The main bar (Blue Moon) was rather noisy, hectic and involved a lot of queuing so we avoided it.
The hotel staff were all friendly and very helpful. It is difficult to get small Egyptian notes in the UK so if you want to give a tip we suggest taking a few US dollars as these are welcome as well.
Most of our fellow guests were Russian and we have read on tripadvisor a few negative comments about the Russians on holiday. Generally the Russians at this hotel were polite, well behaved and dressed very smartly in the evenings. This made a pleasant change from the loud, overweight and poorly dressed American tourists we have regularly encountered in recent times (sorry Americans but you know it's true!).
Overall we were pleased with the hotel and had a enjoyable and reaxing break here.

This was our 6th visit to this beautiful hotel and we had 10 days of fantastic weather, with attentive staff everywhere on site, we never had to lift a finger the whole holiday. (Give a good tip at the start of your holiday and you wont go far wrong). If you want english food and other english people about you, then this is not the place to go, as the majority of guests are Russian and other nationalities, We don't mind it because it gives us a complete rest from everything. We would definitely retun for the friendly and humourous staff, all ages welcome here due to the efforts of a great animation team. The food is excellent, buffet style with lots of unusual meals, and bread rolls and cakes to die for! The spirits are local and taste very different from ours, so take your own, and you can buy mixers at the store on site and store in a fridge in your room. You will be warned not to drink water from the tap, even to clean your teeth and toothbrush. You can get a free litre bottle of water for 2 people to share each day, and you collect this from tbe bar after 1300 hours. There is a shuttle service to Naama bay each day at 11 am and 4 pm, and you need to book this the day before after 5 pm. We went one morning to Naama bay but most of the shops were shut. Be warned that you will be hassled as they are keen to sell to you, but take it with a pinch of salt and you will be fine, they may get a bit shirty with you too, but thats the way for some! Have some fun bartering...be persistent and see what happens....The airport arrivals can seem a bit daunting, and it looks and sounds very disorganised. As you enter the arrival lounge, if you require a visa you need to go to the desks on your left, if you are not going anywhere out of Sinai, then go to your right towards the passport control. On arrival we were each given a form to fill in regarding Swine flu, so make sure you have pen handy....You may be approached by locals asking you to change a load of £1 coins for them into Egyptian pounds. On arrival at your hotel if you want to tip the porter, then they will accept the english coins too. This hotel is good value for money, top weather, the Egyptian people are lovely, great food, beautiful sea, good swimming pools, spectacular sunrises and warm starlit nights.....What more could you ask for! Enjoy.

We stayed all inclusive for the first time in Egypt at this hotel - wanting a complete break from it all for a week at Easter and had a fantastic time. The service, cleanliness, daily different choices of food at the resteraunts, pool and beach area, staff and complete package was brilliant. We ate, drank and relaxed for 7 days in beautiful sunshine (35 degrees at Easter) and could not have asked for anything better. My husband does not like too many hours sunbathing and found there was also enought to do to occupy him, such as snorkaling etc or sitting in the shade.
We are a couple, mid thrities who on this occasion was not interested in excursions and the staff trying to sell us these respected this and were not pushy or a nuisance, in fact they simply enjoyed speaking to us and practicing their English. This particular hotel had a lot of Russian and other Easter European tourists. Anyone finding something to genuinly complain about this hotel must have unreasonably high standards - we found the staff could not do enough for us. On the one day when I had an upset stomach (from drinking too much cold beer in the hot sun and NOT from the food) the bar staff prepared me hot mint tea to settle my stomach!
If you intend to go see the Egyptian sights, such as Cairo and Luxor then I would not advise Sharm El Sheik, it is a very long distance! We have decided to keep these for our next visit to Egypt when we intend to do a week seeing those sights then a week relaxing again at this hotel. And we will be back! We were also told not to travel to Sharm in the summer months when at 50 degrees tourists are having nose bleeds and passing out in the heat!
A brilliant hotel & holiday!

We stayed here during easter for 7 nights. It is a lovely hotel, with good range of facilities. We arrived after a 6 night stay at another hotel and for a while we kept comparing everything constantly because we had enjoyed everything there so much and everything was within easy reach. Had we not stayed anywhere else we would have thought this hotel was very good for a week's stay but not more.

Rooms
Our room was very nice overlooking sea, near the splash pool. Due to the layout of the hotel, there were too many stairs everywhere which became quite tiresome going backwards and forwards even for a fit person.

Restaurant
Food was very nice throughout. My only complaint would be there was no choice of fruit (in fact hardly any). Slightly cramped serving area but that was because I was comparing to my previous hotel and only 1 restaurant for all meals. Very good service from staff in the Restaurant, especially Mohamed Ali, we constantly remember him.

Recreation Facilities
Very good gym which i used nearly every day, including steam and sauna, a bit far due to layout of hotel.
There were quite a few pools , i was getting a bit annoyed with the same drab music around the splash pool, enough to make you go to sleep. Played alot of table tennis situated by the splash pool. Not enough activities going on by the animation team. I didnt feel the same atmosphere/buzz that we got in the previous hotel.

Kids Club/Playground
was badly situated. My daughter didnt want to walk that far just to go to the kids club every day(if it was ever open). Playground was completely exposed to the sun, a very big factor why it was never used!!

I did love the Jetty at this hotel, saw some beautiful fishes even more then when we went on snorkeling trip, so that was a great big plus. No where to walk outside hotel, quite isolated. I was informed on a previous review that you could use facilities of the next door Grand Rotana, which is very grand indeed at the discretion of the security guard. I finally managed to get the okay, by ringing the manager at my hotel who rang the manager at Grand Rotana, but poolside staff immediately identified us as imposters and was quite abrupt and I felt pretty embarrased. So didnt go again. I only wanted to have the opportunity to walk around and use the pool for a little while and only because I read that I could.

Poolside staff were very attentive to particular russians and some british families but ignored everyone else. There were too many russians in this hotel who have a reputation of being rude and blind in my opinion and a little bit greedy if I am allowed to say so. Reception staff were extremely nice and I do remember them fondly including the Manager who was very attentive and helpful.

I immensely enjoyed the egyptian animation show. it was excellent.
Overall It was a very pleasant stay. Keep up the good work.

We went for cheap and cheerful week long break in April and got exactly that.
The room was more than adequate, clean, large enough, air conditioning effective, possibly a little short on hot water but not a great problem.
Other guests were mostly Russian and mostly rude but watching them stuff as much fruit as possible into their handbags and barging their way to the buffet was a constant source of amusement; they didn't affect our enjoyment at all.
Service was rather patchy, far better for the Brits than the pushy Russians though. On the last day of our stay all the staff were extremely attentive (looking for a tip the cynical might suggest) but overall the service whilst not being terrible could have been somewhat better.
On arrival we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a sea view room for £50, we decided to look at our allocated room before deciding which as it turned out had a magnificent sea view! I wonder if we decided to upgrade would they have put us in the same room? We'll never know.
Food was perfectly fine, the grill was particularly good and there was always a good selection on the buffet - if you're a pie and chips type expect to go hungry here though.
Alcohol was on the whole pretty nasty stuff, beer was passable lager type stuff but vodka was truly atrocious.
No real beach to speak of but snorkelling off the pontoon was good.
This is by no means a luxury hotel but for the money what do expect, it is a satisfactory hotel for a break in the sun, no more, no less.
Would I go back to this hotel - certainly not - but that has more to do with Sharm and Egypt itself than the hotel.

First day we discovered that there isn’t a hot water in our room after our arrivals from the pool with 2 kids where they need to take a shower
We called the housekeeping and they asked us to make sure that the heater electricity button in the bathroom is turned on
After we confirmed that it is already on they told us that they will send us someone to check the problem while the kids starts to get cold and need to sleep after a while the guy came to fix the problem and informed us that it is now fixed and it will take some time to get hot water so we called the receiption rep. asking for changing the room, but he didn’t offer any help or apology except saying that there is no free room available so we asked to talk to his manager who delivered the same message!!

3rd day there isn’t hot water again!! But we didn’t call the housekeeping or the receiption simply because we were quite sure that we will not get any help or compensation except saying that we will send someone to fix the problem and again we will wait for 1 hour minimum.

In addition the above mentioned situation which really made us very disappointed and decided not to come back to this hotel again, there are other many disappointments

-Food & Drinks is terrible , it was the worst buffet we ever seen ( except for the grilled food )
-A lot of steps all way long to beach, restaurant and everywhere
-No sand beach
-Towels smell awful
-noisy diggers
-animation team didn’t offer any activity except for the baby dance

Finally we wish we didn't ignore the bad reviews on trip advisor
