“Three stars at the most...”
Reviewed September 8, 2011

I choose this hotel based on my previous experiences with Rotana hotels elsewhere and with the high standard that Rotana hotels offers in general (even the 4 stars) but this hotel was a big disappointment for me. The hotel is old, has been partially reconstructed, which is very visible especially in the rooms, the doors are old, the shower unit is old and small, looks more like a shower in a youth hostel not a 4 star hotel! the mini bar was also old, more like a cooling box rather then a fridge bcs it took nearly 24 hours for a bottle of water to get cold. The TV is an old outdated model. The positive things in the room: it was spacious and had a terrace with chairs and table. The AC was good but quite noisy and it didn't had any operation manual which took as a while to understand how it actually works. Upon check in and when we entered the room half of the lights and the AC was not working so we had to call the reception and ask for technician to come and fixe it. It was frustrating bcs it took some time and we were quite tired after a long night trip and wanted to rest… The hotel in general is clean except the toilets at the reception were many times (especially in the evening) so dirty that it looked like a public toilet somewhere at a train station.
The most frustrating thing about our stay at this hotel was the poor standard of the service in the main restaurant and the pool bars. The waiters were extremely unfriendly and even rude sometimes. They only took care of the Russian guests with whom they shook hands like they were best friends ! I never seen such kind of behavior anywhere in a hotel. In addition the service at the restaurant was more like a chaos then a proper hotel service. To find an empty, clean and properly set up table was nearly impossible unless you would come before the door opened for lunch or dinner. Nobody would direct you to a table …so everybody would run around the restaurant like crazy to grab a table….If you were lucky to find an empty table then you would either have to wait 10 minutes for the waiter to come and clean it for you or you would clean it yourself. Then you would wait for the waiter to come and take your order for the drinks (we were at All Inclusive bases thus we were entitled to have beer of wine during lunch and dinner) which happened maybe 4 times during our whole 8 days stay. The rest of the time nobody even bothered. On daily bases they would run out of clean plates, cutlery or cups several times during the service. The meat station was obviously the most popular yet it was placed during the lunch time outside on the direct sun with no umbrellas or any other type of shade so you would have to stand in the middle of the day in the heat and wait for the meat. This issue was then rectified but it took them couple of days to realize it. Also there was a nice terrace adjacent to the main restaurant but again the tables didn't have any umbrellas or sun shades therefore nobody was able to sit there during breakfasts or lunches. On the bright side of all this I have to give credit to the chefs, bcs the food was generally tasty and good variety, the only thing which was in my opinion poor was the selection of the fruits. You would have always only two fruits to choose from, usually a guava and pears…very rarely there would be other type of fruits like red or yellow melon or oranges…for my great disappointment not once we hade mango although Egypt is very well known for its produce of mango. one day at breakfast the tea served was a left over from the previous day!!! and even that one was cold!
To talk about the positive sides, the beach was beautiful, well maintained, we would always find empty sun beds and umbrellas (even around the pools), the pools are very nice, clean, big. The room service was also good the room was cleaned daily and properly. The location of the hotel is also quite good as it is in the middle way between Naama Bay and Soho Square. There is also a beauty saloon in the hotel run by very nice people offers different kinds of massages and beauty treatments for very good price and the ppl there are extremely friendly and professional. the animation team was very good.
In general I would say this hotel is good for guests that are not very demanding and are not expecting anything special and definitely is not a 4 star hotel as advertised by all the travel agencies. We didn't feel welcomed or appreciated in the hotel and were quite relieved when we left.

First of all DONT eat any salads!! I had the runs for 6 weeks after staying in Eygpt! However it is a nice hotel and friendly staff. Porters want tips of money. I could have taken my case to my room but some young porter took it then wanting a tip. I never had any Eygptan money and gave him a couple of pounds!! He asked what are they? Tough! There was music by the pool in the day time. The sea was just down a path from my room. I had a terrace. I would go back again but it was in June a very hot! Over 40o deg So be carefull.

Room Tip: I had a room with a terrace which was nice and never had to climb steps. I got what I was given. Nev...

We had a lovely stay at this hotel with very friendly staff. Talking to the staff, this hotel is mainly booked by Russians, but during the duration of our stay, they had been advised not to travel due to the recent problems in Egypt. Hence there were only about 35-40 guests staying in the whole complex. Obviously we can only give a view on the hotel as we saw it (without Russian visitors). The room was clean and tidy, but could have done with a bit of work in the shower area. Nice powerful shower, with plenty of hot water but it was the sealant that let it down - see photo - but don't let this put you off. The room we had, had a lovely balcony with amazing views out to sea, and they are nicely constructed so you are not over looked by neighbours.
Due to the lack of guests, some of the amenities were not open ie the poolbars and the fish restaurant, so we are unable to comment on them.
The food was buffet style - breakfast, lunch and dinner. There were snacks available between meals, but as we ate so well at main meal times, snacks were not needed. They had a good range of foods, including salads, grill bar, and hot food selection. The quality of food, we found good and tasty. The food had a Mediterranean slant to it, which we found very good.
The hotel has three swimming pools, with lots of sunbeds, which we found unbelievable to see people reserving considering how few people there were staying there. Yes, it was the English doing it! The hotel is built on to a hill side, leading down to the sea. The top pool is situated by the childrens club area, the middle (main) pool is by the main bar and restaurant area, whilst the bottom pool is lower down, by the 'beach' area.
This hotel would not be suitable for the elderly or infirm, as we counted approx 130 steps and slopes to get from the 'beach' area to the main pool area.
If you are taking children, be aware that the brochure description of a beach is stretching it rather. There is no way they would be able to take a bucket and spade, as rather than sand, the beach is made up of crushed hard core, but they have made the best use of what is available (see photo) Both beaches have a pontoon leading out past the reef, but at the time of our stay, one was out of action.
Would we recommend this hotel, and return ourselves - definately yes, and will be going back next year. If you need any other information, please contact us.

Room Tip: Take 1 dollar bills to use as tips.

I gave one here already, it seems to me an objective opinion. Reading the other, I wonder whether we were in the same hotel. :) The average hotel for the money and get a decent standard, eat and drink. In Poland, we get for this level ok.3000 zł enough that the weather and sea in the box and different. Coral Hotel can admire the first time being on Synay and turn his nose when we compare with other hotels in Egypt. Are better for similar money, but most are worse. Just do not drink too much of their drinks, it is swill. Before the meal after meal of whiskey or bourbon / bought at the airport in Poland is proven cure for my multiple Egyptian conquests. I took the Sinai as the best place to relax, I visit there is always in November and March. The hotel is a lottery, this is pretty good, but the best are at Taba on the Gulf of Aqaba. What is closer to Israel, the better grazing and peace. It is worth to go to Jerusalem, Bethlehem and Jordan. Expedition 100 to $ 200. As for the operator fails to traveligo, worse with the organizers on the spot,
