I stayed at Sonesta Beach with my Grandma at the end of January and although I had no idea what to expect (seeing as I've never been to Egypt before), I was overwhelmed by the kindness of staff, the spectacular layout of the resort (it was mainly flat), the fabulous entertainment by the Animation Team and the range of buffet style food in the various restaurants.

Our room which overlooked the Blue Wave bar and pool was close to the Dome restaurant which was quieter and more relaxing. Best meal I had was at the Tandoori Indian restaurant. Although this restaurant was not part of our all inclusive deal, we got 20% off and the rose wine my Grandma and I drank was on the house. Unforgettable food!

Made friends with the Animation team, Ice, Dima, Roberto and Lado - they made my holiday. They kept the guests entertained with daily activities such as stretching, aqua gym and Latin dancing. The night shows were funny and guests could participate. They even escorted a group of us to Pacha safely and bought us back to the hotel. They care greatly about their guests and I miss their 'Gangnam style' dance by the pool each morning at 10 am!

Would easily return to this hotel, I miss the people and the beautiful weather.

Room Tip: The beach area was very packed, I didn't go at a busy time and I was still put off by all the su...

Just back from the Sonesta beach resort. We had a fantastic time and would go back again. We stayed in room 2305 which is opposite the Dive bar and also only 200 yards from the Dome restaurant. The Casablanca is another good restaurant to eat in on the resort. The rooms are large, clean and tidy. The private beach was just a short walk from our room and was staffed by people who made us feel very welcome. The pool by the cactus bar was another pleasant spot. Hope this review helped, but please feel free to ask any questions.

Room Tip: For real peace and quiet, ask for a room past the cactus bar.

We ve just returned from a weeks holiday at Sonesta Beach Hotel (could stay much longer :().
You cannot fault this place in any way-from excellent food, rooms, weather to brilliant staff.
When we arrived we were a bit worried that we wont find way back to our room, and were a bit far out,but it turned out, that everything what we wanted was very close to us(restaurant,pool,..bar).
Room was very big,and lovely.Quality of food and the amout was excellent.
Our only gripe was seeing how badly the staff were treated by Russian guests. We witnessed a lot of rudeness and no respect towards staff, and wish that managers would allow them the power to refuse service to the rude few.
Overall we loved our holiday and met some fantastic people!!
We would like to thank all the staff(Le Dome,Blue Wave Bar) ,especially Amr Salem and his team (Ibrahim,Waleed,Ahmed, hope this is right!) for making our holiday even more special!!

We booked 2 weeks at the Sonesta beach resort and it all started off great, we stayed in the cactus area as this was supposed to be mainly for the British. Our room was at the back and overlooked the cactus pool which we thought would be fantastic! There seemed to be alot more Russians in this area that British and as the cactus pool was the only "heated" one the majority of people would head over to here so getting a sun lounger sometimes proved difficult. Why they do not heat the larger pool i do not know! 3 days after arriving, both me and my partner ended up with bad stomachs that we had for the rest of the stay at this hotel, the only time it started to clear up was when we ate away from the hotel for a few days! Most of the food was bland and tasted stodgy with no flavour, bit of a disappointment as it is supposed to be a highly rated hotel. We ate at the tandori restaurant one evening which you have to pay extra for and the food was fantastic! it had so much flavour and brilliant portion sizes, it's just a shame that not all of the food is on par with this. There is also the Gondola restaurant which we later discovered is only for Le Royale visitors, why they would have a restaurant that people cannot use on an all inclusive site is beyond me! The staff were very friendly and many of them knew my partner by name. The bartender called Meme (Mohammed) on the pool bar near the main restaurant was fantastic, most of the time we didn't have to leave our seats as he would constantly be bringing us fresh ones. One of the bartenders on the beach bar was also fantastic, after we gave him a tip on the first day he would continue to find us on the beach and bring us more drinks, even if we had not been to the bar or seen him that day. There is also a man called Aladdin who works in the on-site perfume shop, we brought some alcohol free perfume from him and some pure Aloe Vera which we believed to be fantastic for the price, he also gave us fantastic coffee and peppermint tea. He invited us to come back any time for a coffee, but we never took him up on the offer as we later found out that we had paid quite alot more than another couple who were at the resort. I found it fantastic that the hotel fumigate to stop bugs, although they only did the back of the hotel once while we were there, and thanks to the cleaner repeatedly leaving the door open, we ended up being bitten to death by mosquitoes and nats which looked fantastic with our tans! There is also only one indoor 24 hour bar in the resort and EVERYONE has to pay for it, even if you would like a drink that is included in the all inclusive, you still have to pay for it! Maybe they should consider having it as an all inclusive bar, but if you would like to have a premium drink then you pay extra! There is also no free wifi available in the hotel, there is however a sushi bar/cafe (makani) across the road which has good wifi, brilliant cakes and very nice coffee, there is also a Mcdonalds a few shops down! Overall most of the staff are very helpful and friendly and the resort is nice as well as being very clean but the food and lack of heated pools is really a let down!

Hotel
Common area of the hotel is very beautiful. However during the first days I found myself constantly lost in attempts to find my room  This is probably due to allotment of the rooms.
Otherwise you can find the spot that suits you the best – calm or active.

Staff
The most precious that this hotel has is staff. Always polite, friendly and helpful - doesn’t matter if it is personnel at the restaurants or bars near the pool.
Even if you need a cab and still afraid to take it by yourself, you can always ask – they will fix it.
Even if you lost or forget something at the hotel – everything will be found and delivered to you.

Rooms
The room we had was too small for two persons. Of course if you spend only very little time in the room (as we did) it is not a problem at all. However there was not enough space to two girls preparing for the party. Moreover the lightning was very poor, so we constantly experience problems when we did a make-up.

Food
Of course it is a question of taste. I would say that food is like everywhere – you know what to expect to get for the breakfast, lunch and dinner. So the assortment was not a surprise. But I have to highlight that the quality was very good. Food was always fresh and delicious.

Animation
I understood that the turnover in the team was happening during our stay. This is probably way the team was not look very united during the first days. However the activities during the day and during the evening were good. I participated in a few of them and still am glad that I did.
I liked their multi-lingual team, English, Russian, Italian, French, etc. You name it 
Despite the turnover fact they all were very friendly.

Special occasions
We deliberately decided to go to Sharm to celebrate New Year and I must say that we have chosen probably the best hotel for this. The way hotel looked during the celebration, the food, the performance, the gifts – it has exceeded all our expectations.
Guys, if you don’t know where to celebrate next New Year, I have a tip for you :)
