Stayed at this fantastic all-inc adults only hotel from 10-17 March 2013. Booked only a few weeks before we went, clincher was the great trip advisor reviews and the fab weather forecast. This hotel is run by a committed team and it shows...they check with you regularly that everything is ok! Very clean hotel, friendly and very attentive staff all helped to make this a very chilled out week. Low key entertainment in the evenings. Clean beach with plenty of sunbeds with a motorboat that takes you to a little snorkelling beach 5 mins away and really great beach bar. Food at all restaurants was of a high standard and very varied, each night opting for a different theme. No upset stomachs from the food here!! The Italian restaurant food was superb, (one free visit per stay included). I would definately stay at this hotel again and hope after reading this short report you will feel happy to book....you will not be disappointed unless yo want a really lively noisy place to stay. Well done to the Manager and all the staff!

Loved this place - just the right size, excellent accommodation and super staff.
Very impressive Thomson service at the airport and we were quickly whisked away by comfortable private taxi - an hour later we were sipping gin and tonic under the stars! We were warmly welcomed with a drink and cool lemon-scented towels to freshen up, quick registration and information pack.
Our lovely spacious room was on the ground floor with a shady terrace. Enormous, comfortable bed and plenty of storage space, safe, mini-bar with an initial supply of soft drinks, tea, coffee, water and milk replenished daily, and very efficient air conditioning for which we were grateful as it was very hot. Large marble tiled bathroom with a big walk-in shower, all of which were immaculately clean. Sound insulation was very good - apart from the door slammers (why do people have to do this?) we heard nothing.
Food was excellent with plenty of choice, lots of salads, huge pastry selection at breakfast and proper cheese! Beer and wine quite acceptable, spirits an acquired taste but they do use branded mixers. Staff everywhere were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble - very attentive without being intrusive. Adults only so no children running around.
Sunbeds around the pool areas are sometimes hard to come by but there are usually plenty on the beach. This was the one disappointment - not very attractive and no snorkelling to speak of. Also the beach bar on the right and the hotel on the left can sometimes be noisy during the day.
Pretty well kept gardens with hammocks and day beds. We enjoyed the evening entertainment, laid back and relaxing - DnA were excellent and the Sundowner Terrace is a great place to sit in the evening - shisha pipes available for those who want to indulge.
There is a shopping mall across the road with a good pharmacy and an ATM/Foreign exchange machine - just feed in your sterling currency and it gives you Egyptian pounds in return. We got 10 to the £ which was much better than the banks or exchange booths. Reception are happy to change large denomination notes. Cross another road to the Old Market if you like shopping.
A really lovely relaxing place, cannot fault it and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Balconies on some top floor rooms have no shade so can become quite hot

Stayed in the hotel 11th - 18th march. Stayed in room 4310. Chose this hotel because of the reviews and like many others was not at all disappointed at all. First time in a couples only hotel. It's not just the fact that there is no children, which is lovely, but it also really creates a very relaxed atmosphere which we thought was wonderful and just what we wanted. Couldn't find anything to complain about all the things mentioned in reviews months ago have all been addressed. Never been to a hotel that is eager to know the guests complaints and suggestions to improve and to genuinely want to address them. Ate in the restaurant on the complementary ticket and then booked to go again we enjoyed it so much. Our waiter Moh Elkhedr was very attentive and couldn't do enough for us. Ate in the beach bar most days for lunch food was great and Abdel was always there with a lovely smile and much wanted cold beer. All the bar and waiting staff could not be faulted, always attentive , polite and friendly and very smartly dressed. The evening entertainment we personally thought was excellent every night. Lovely terrace to relax and have a drink of an evening, very comfortable chairs and lite with outdoor lamps and candles. The men do need to wear long trousers and shoes to dinner which I though was nice as the dinning room is laid up with restaurant linens, full cutlery, wine and water glasses and all the condiments. Women of an evening all looked lovely but varied from glamorous to more smart/relaxed. I personally would embrace the opportunity to dress up, it's a lovely hotel and you certainly won't look over dressed. I managed to put on 7lb in a week !!! which I think is proof of the quality of the food and drink without me me writing a paragraph saying how good it was! We never left the hotel the whole week, never felt the need too, which is rare. Will definitely look forward to going back. Thank you to all the staff at Iberotel for a wonderful holiday.

We stayed for 7 nights at this hotel and it was a present for my Husband's 40th birthday. I booked the hotel due to the reviews I had read and it certainly lived up to my expectations - and more! From the moment you arrive you are teated like one of the family. Nothing is too much trouble and I was very impressed with the staff - a very highly motivated workforce. The hotel is lovely and clean and the location is perfect. Yes there is a bit of noise from other hotels in the bay and you can hear this if you are sunbathing on the beach but we didn't mind this at all. The pool area is much quieter and people generally keep themselves to themselves. Much more of an atmosphere at the beach. As it's a couples hotel the entertainment is pretty low key however, a special mention must go to DnA who are absolutely fantastic. Lovely couple and two great singers. Their "blankets on the beach" night was amazing and one of the highlights of our holiday. The gala night which the Manager hosts is a lovely touch and you get to mingle with other hotel guests and meet the management team. Location is perfect and a worthwhile trip is to take the hotel boat out to see the coral reef and do some snorkelling. Even if you don't want to do snorkelling you can still see all the fish standing in the water. Tip - take some closed shoes (crocs etc) and a towel with you. This was our first trip to Egypt and my husband and I cannot wait to go back.

Room Tip: Try and get a ground floor room at the left hand side of the bottom pool. Sunbeds are literally rig...

Here we go with another review! This trip was a stay at the Iberotel Palace in Sharm el Sheikh, booked through Thomson on-line at just a few days notice, for a 7 day break, all inclusive and NO KIDS! As I wrote in a previous review, and to give you context, we’re a couple in our 50’s, both active, and have visited most of the med countries, Canada and the USA. We’ve done the cheapest bucket and spade jobs with the children as well as some nicer places now we can better afford to. We like things clean and tidy with good standards (Mrs D is a senior service and personnel manager in retail) but we don’t get obsessive about trivia such as fair wear and tear!

This time, the “boss” (= lovely Mrs. D) asked me to find winter sunshine, quiet, good facilities, somewhere to walk out in the evening on the seafront, but some shopping opportunities. She definitely wanted ‘chillax’. After spending many square-eyed hours considering hotels in Madeira, Canaries, Cap Verde and Sharm, and being very short notice, the 10 day weather forecast was the clincher for the ‘sunshine’ bit: Egypt it had to be, although after an occasionally hassled trip to Cairo 3 years ago we were a little hesitant, doubts being reinforced by FCO warnings about regional problems beyond the Red Sea coast coupled to a friend’s alleged bad experience with a camel ride in the old town area early in the year. Nevertheless, Iberotel Palace reviewed well (thank you fellow Trip Advisor reviewers) and the decision was made.
I did pay in advance to upgrade the room a little, asking for a side sea view, and did have a short and pleasant e-mail exchange with reception before travelling.
Gatwick parking long-term and the overall airport check in experience was fine, but as I’ve said before, whilst the Thomson airline was ok, it’s a shame that there’s no entertainment available at seat (though we had our own), as I don’t consider a 5+hr flight to be ‘short haul’! Having been to Iceland since the Sharm trip, and experienced the facilities offered by Iceland Air on a 3 hour flight, I suggest Thomson could learn a lesson from them! And I still grumble about uncontrolled kids whose parents are only interested in iPods not their offspring screaming and clambering over seats etc. The toasted sandwich served up was over-done and dry on the outbound flight, but the return offering was better and filled a space. The in-flight staff were really good.

ARRIVAL/RECEPTION: I was impressed on arrival at reception. Desk staff seemed well organised to deal with the arrivals, and were very polite and courteous. Everything appeared clean and fresh. A security guard is at the door. Check in was different to the normal, and one couple seemed a bit niggled and made ‘like being at school’ comments, however it was actually VERY effective and avoided those at the back of the queue waiting. Our passports were taken, room documents issued, then we were taken to a nearby room to receive a welcome drink accompanied by a briefing about the hotel basics (restaurants, meal times etc). At that point, we filled in the little forms to complete check in and our passports were returned. Bell boys then took our cases to the room. Note: tipping is cultural and customary. You’ll likely not have any small change on arrival, so a £1 coin is fine. They save them up change them later with guests at the end of their stay, which suits everyone). There’s a pay-for internet facility to use at PC’s near reception (expensive), or you can use what I found to be a temperamental but free Wi-Fi if you sit close to reception. OK for a quick e-mail but not much else, but then you’re on holiday! They give you a password so you can connect your own device. Toilets were spotless throughout our stay. You’ll receive one room key card but can request a 2nd at no charge.
The arrival/welcome meeting next morning was very good, with the Thomson rep and a member of the animation team. Both were helpful, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the area. They were visible and available if required throughout our stay.

ROOM: We were allocated a double room (pre-paid upgrade) at the end of the block facing to the Arena / Ali Baba facility. Sunshine to lunchtime, ground level patio area, and easy access to everything. Entertainment stops around 10.30 so no noise to disrupt sleep. Nice side views to the sea, beach bar, and gardens. Room was a good size, loads of storage space, clean, and well serviced daily. The (male) cleaner did a very good job, and left little towel-art models to amuse, plus 2 little welcome gifts of statuettes. Aircon worked well and wasn’t too noisy. The bed was massive, had a firm mattress, and I slept better than at home! Be aware that the local mosques call regularly (5 times?) a day, including at the crack of dawn. After 2 days, they merge into the background and I didn’t get disturbed. Don’t grumble: it’s local life. There’s a safe in the room which is free to use. Mini-bar fridge in the room is re-filled with bottled water as part of the all-inclusive package: no need to buy water in the supermarket locally. There’s a kettle, tea and coffee (and cartons of UHT milk in the fridge too). The toiletries supplied by the hotel (shower gel, shampoo) all had a pleasant fragrance and didn’t irritate my skin: sensitive soul that I am. Shower was reliable (walk-in, no bath) and towels were changed daily. Small hairdryer in the bathroom and a shaver point. TV was a little flat-screen that had mainly foreign language channels, but BBC World and CNN were available.
For the ultra-fussy, as in most establishments there are a few scuffs on the furniture and the odd bit of staining on the odd tile. It’s called wear and tear. No problem.

EATING: We were all-inclusive. The Coupole restaurant has tables inside and out. Breakfast table was waiter-served with tea or coffee, or you can make your own. There was an extensive range of continental and cooked options, including omelettes and fried eggs to order. Being a Muslim country, you’ll not see bacon or pork sausages, but they do serve Beef bacon: try it. We chose to lunch at the Beach Bar for convenience, and tended to go for the chicken salad sandwiches or pizzas. Evening meals were taken at the Coupole or at the Blue Marine, a smaller restaurant down near the beach. The menu was slightly less extensive but basically matched the Coupole’s. But the venue was nice, especially to sit outside. We also took advantage of the included one-night offer in the Italian a-la-carte, which was very good. Throughout the holiday we always found a choice we enjoyed, despite being fussy and cautious (sensitive tummy) types. I like my meat and had chicken, beef, lamb, and veal. Vegetarians are catered for, as are those who need gluten-free. The local wine was free within the package and Mrs. D enjoyed the Rose. The staff were efficient, polite and cleared up quickly. Behind the scenes, the kitchen must be well run to present the quantity and quality of food as they do. Once again, I survived a holiday without any tummy trouble, only the second time for many years!
Cleanliness seemed to be a priority here. Gloves being worn by cooking staff, plenty of hand washing, and there are alcohol hand-wash gel stations everywhere. Use them!

THE POOL AREA / BEACH / GARDENS: 2 nice outdoor pools, one (upper level) heated. Also an indoor pool. Seemed to be well maintained and clean. The usual selfish people (all nationalities!) are seen at dawn heading out with their towels to secure ‘their’ favourite spots. Never saw the hotel’s beach staff enforce the no reserving policy, but whenever we looked for a sunbed, there were always some to be found near the pool or at the beach. A tip to the beach attendants seems to secure an additional, unofficial service and a priority reservation for some who had been staying longer and knew the ropes! Beach was cleaned early every day, water was clear. Hotel gardens were well maintained and the gardener(s) would take time to smile and show what they were doing. Major plants were labelled.

RANDOM BITS: There are mozzies about. I ALWAYS get bitten, at home or abroad (sweet blooded?). Madam doesn’t. This year I tried the vitamin B1 solution…and it worked! No bites all holiday. Mrs. D DID get bitten. I will be taking B1 this summer at home too.
The Old Town is right outside and opposite the hotel, behind the modern shopping complex. The reps took us out on a daylight guided tour and offered useful advice. We did venture out ourselves (as did many others) on 3 nights, but be prepared for constant hassle to go into shops, and once inside, you may feel pressurised and will certainly be shadowed at every step. It was worse in Cairo, but a polite no thank you (la shakram) with a polite smile, always worked. It was noticeable even in a tourist resort that ladies who don’t cover themselves according to local expectations will be leered at, and comments will be made. Despite being properly dressed, I was offered a herd of camels (initial offer was 5 camels) for Mrs. D but I respectfully declined. Learn to haggle, and enjoy the different culture and experience!!
Hotel Clientele were mainly of the older age groups: very few youngsters, no children, and definitely no rowdies! Mix of nationalities. This is not a lively hotel for clubbers. Entertainment by a male + female duo was pretty low-key and we enjoyed the Blankets on the Beach evening. Also saw the fire dancers and the Fakir performances in the Arena.
Small gym next to the tennis courts. Equipment was modern and worked well. Towels and water available by the door. Table tennis available on the front by the beach. Enjoyed playing boule twice daily: chance to engage with some other guests and exchange some banter. Mrs. D also enjoyed the aquacise, water aerobics, and belly dance classes. Trips to the coral beach (hotel boat, included).
Tours: the Thomson trip to St. Catherine’s was off-limits because of the troubles, but local companies would still take you (however, against FCO advice). Flights to Cairo and Luxor were still running too.
We didn't get to use the spa inside the hotel, but others were saying they had enjoyed their treatments. Mrs. D did have a pedicure at the beachfront shop. The price was similar to home and she was very satisfied with the quality of service and result, including the nail art, which lasted very well.

SUMMARY This was a very good value sunshine break which fully lived up to expectations. The hotel is nicely located on its own stretch of sandy beach, well kept and very well run by a management team that have set high service standards (you’ll meet them at the cocktail evening and see them about the place) and staff who have clearly bought-in to the offer.
Really helpful people, nothing seems too much trouble, service with a smile.
We are in the process of getting sign-off for annual leave so that we can re-book for 2014.
Stayed February into March 2013, travelled as a couple.

Room Tip: We were in side sea view, Arena section, ground level.

Four of us, have just returned, after spending 7 nights at this small and very friendly hotel from the 11th March to the 18th 2013. What a brilliant choice !! I picked this hotel because of the reviews, and brochure description.I am so glad I did. This hotel is a couples hotel,so you will get mostly older people. There were young couples who thought it was a great choice for them also.
The hotel is very clean ,and our rooms were big . The bathroom was a good size too !! The food too, in our opinion was very good, always plenty of choice and they always had a low fat dish for those who wanted to be good !!! The ice cream was delicious, something I love, but very rarely touch, while abroad as very often it melts and freezes again .Salads were always there, and what a selection ,including a good selection of cheese !! It is also brilliant to sit at the beach bar, for a good range of snacks, rather than have to go to a restaurant.Another good point was that if you didn't want to get out early to have breakfast you could get it at the beach bar from 10.30am till11.30 am, not many hotels are that considerate!!!!!!!! The staff are brilliant and nothing is too much trouble . The guy on the beach, organizing the boules, or what ever they were playing, was entertaining. He was full of life, brilliant !!!!!!! I know we are all different, and like different things, but you will have missed out, big time, in my opinion, if you do not choose this hotel. We will return and I can't wait
