Have just returned from one week of relaxtion in the sun staying at the Iberotel Palace.
The hotel is in a great location with its own private beach. There are plenty of sunbeds and the sea is calm and great to swim in. There is a free boat which leaves every hour to a nearby coral reef which is great for snorkeling. Opposite the hotel is a new shopping mall and the Old market is just three minutes walk away. Great for haggling for fake designer goods !!.
The hotel is clean and the rooms large and comfortable with free safe, mini bar and tea making facilities. The bathroom has a huge walk in shower and the water was always hot.
The staff are really friendly and if you tip them a pound here and there they will look after you.
The beer and soft drinks are branded and served in bottles which is a first for an all inclusive hotel. The cocktails were a bit hit and miss, never tasted the same and never tasted any alcohol in them.
This hotel has just become a 'Thomsons Couples' hotel and many things need to be sorted.
The evening entertainment was non exsistent apart from the resident duo who became a bit boring afer a while. Events were organised but never actually took place ,but maybe the entertainment will improve in time .
The one thing that lets this hotel down the most is the food. There is a very limited choice and most of the meat and vegetable dishes were cold as the serving dishes are not heated. There is only one toaster at breakfast and one chef cooking eggs which always resulted in long queues. You are allowed one free meal in the Italian a la carte restaurant which is good ,
but be prepared for very slow service. At lunch time you can eat at the beach bar which serves pizza, burgers etc. and was ok, but once again very slow service.
Although this hotel is all inclusive you still have to sign for all your drinks and food which is a bit annoying after a while.
On the beach you are pestered all the time by staff from the beauty parlour trying to sell you over priced pedicures, manicures and massages, and others selling boat trips and excursions.
Whilst we were there ,there was chanting which was amplified, five times a day,the first one starting at 4 am, so earplugs are essential.!!
If you get an upset stomach, which is really common, don't go to the pharmacist opposite the hotel for tablets. He wanted to charge £25 for the same tablets the we got at a pharmacy in the Old market for £4. If you want to relax and chill out in the sun,it was 31 degrees every day, then this hotel is fine, but if you are expecting 5 star luxury then this hotel is not the best.
