“Good hotel in great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2012

Have just returned from one week of relaxtion in the sun staying at the Iberotel Palace.
The hotel is in a great location with its own private beach. There are plenty of sunbeds and the sea is calm and great to swim in. There is a free boat which leaves every hour to a nearby coral reef which is great for snorkeling. Opposite the hotel is a new shopping mall and the Old market is just three minutes walk away. Great for haggling for fake designer goods !!.
The hotel is clean and the rooms large and comfortable with free safe, mini bar and tea making facilities. The bathroom has a huge walk in shower and the water was always hot.
The staff are really friendly and if you tip them a pound here and there they will look after you.
The beer and soft drinks are branded and served in bottles which is a first for an all inclusive hotel. The cocktails were a bit hit and miss, never tasted the same and never tasted any alcohol in them.
This hotel has just become a 'Thomsons Couples' hotel and many things need to be sorted.
The evening entertainment was non exsistent apart from the resident duo who became a bit boring afer a while. Events were organised but never actually took place ,but maybe the entertainment will improve in time .
The one thing that lets this hotel down the most is the food. There is a very limited choice and most of the meat and vegetable dishes were cold as the serving dishes are not heated. There is only one toaster at breakfast and one chef cooking eggs which always resulted in long queues. You are allowed one free meal in the Italian a la carte restaurant which is good ,
but be prepared for very slow service. At lunch time you can eat at the beach bar which serves pizza, burgers etc. and was ok, but once again very slow service.
Although this hotel is all inclusive you still have to sign for all your drinks and food which is a bit annoying after a while.
On the beach you are pestered all the time by staff from the beauty parlour trying to sell you over priced pedicures, manicures and massages, and others selling boat trips and excursions.
Whilst we were there ,there was chanting which was amplified, five times a day,the first one starting at 4 am, so earplugs are essential.!!
If you get an upset stomach, which is really common, don't go to the pharmacist opposite the hotel for tablets. He wanted to charge £25 for the same tablets the we got at a pharmacy in the Old market for £4. If you want to relax and chill out in the sun,it was 31 degrees every day, then this hotel is fine, but if you are expecting 5 star luxury then this hotel is not the best.

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room with huge 8 foot bed which was really comfortable but it was at the side of the...

The entertainment at this hotel was first class. In fact the best I have ever experienced abroad.

Our all-inclusive 8 night stay at the hotel from 1 - 9 Nov 2012 coincided with start of 'couples only' holidays and arrival of a new TUI entertainment team: headed by Gemma, guitarist duo (working together for first time) James Kirby & Timmy Knowles, ably supported by Youseff (a great character & showman) from the local hotel team.

James is without doubt one of the best acoustic guitarists I have ever heard, making one guitar effortlessly sound like two, with a technique to die for and versatile voice that seems to suit everything spot-on. Timmy’s style is based on layering sounds using a loop pedal to build an orchestra of sound around his own rhythm guitar, fills, great voice & percussion etc. They both play solo, and as a guitaring duo and also provide back-up percussion to each other. Tunes range from 60’s classics, Brit-pop, blues and current hits, urban stuff and a few excellent originals all played expertly. I’ve never heard “I want you back”, “I heard it through the grapevine”, “Wonderwall”, “Lie to me” or “Price Tag” interpreted and played better, and you get to hear it played intimately by camp fire / star light on the beach & also whilst relaxing on a sunbed etc. Absolutely brilliant, and I loved every minute of it!

The actual hotel is thoughtfully laid out, rooms on two floors, layered terraces and well maintained with a nice sense of style and décor. The two pools are of a good size, kept very clean and the hotel backs onto the beach where there are plenty of sunbeds with clean towels supplied by the hotel.

Our room was kept spotlessly clean by Mohammed K, who was always very pleasant and helpful, and always on hand to offer any assistance required, such as extra toilet rolls (say no more!) and stocking the mini-bar etc.

The staff were all very helpful and the service excellent; in particular in the restaurant/s. This is no doubt due to the emphasis placed on customer care by the hotel management. Everyday three ladies walked round the hotel pro-actively asking guests if there were any problems and taking action to resolve any issues raised no matter how trivial these may have appeared.

Availability of bottled lager (Stella 4.5% & Heineken) and bottled soft drinks (zero sprite, coke) was a nice surprise and the local spirits of a good quality and the young chaps providing drinks / table service around the terrace worked exceptionally hard to get drinks to you promptly to prevent you needing to visit the bar.

There was always a very good selection of food available at breakfast, lunch and dinner – lots of meats (no pork or bacon mind!). Soups, salads, breads, rice dishes, pasta dishes, desserts and chesses; the lists goes on but needless to say there was something to suit everyone including vegetarians. Special mention must go to the wide range of soup which were undoubtedly the best I have ever had abroad in a hotel buffet. Occasionally some of the food could have been hotter, although this was perhaps attributable to normal buffet type situations i.e. time your visits to the counter well to overcome the problem.

The meal we had in the Italian Restaurant (and service) was first class. My partner’s soup was exceptional, as was my garlic & coriander prawns / crayfish. The beef fillet was cooked to perfection and the ice cream & fresh fruit refreshing to say the least. Similarly, the gala & cocktail night was very well organised with great food which was nicely presented by the staff.

All in all a great hotel, excellent service and food but what made the holiday extra special for me was the brilliantly played music and great entertainment.

Room Tip: 2 floors available. Room 2307 was a nice room on the second floor overlooking the entertainment are...

We have just returned from one of our best holidays ever and believe me when i say, We are fussy and expect a lot from our holidays. This hotel and all of its wonderful staff was the best we have ever stayed in anywhere on any of our numerous holidays. Fom the minute that we entered the beautiful reception and were welcomed so warmly to the minute that we left everything was fantastic. Our room was lovely - spacious, cosy, exceptionally clean, wonderful massive comfy bed and lovely sea view balcony. The towel art left by the cleaner every day added to the holiday.
The food was great, always an enormous amount of choice and very tasty. Nice to have a choice also of restaurants in which to eat. The wine and alcohol were all very good quality.
Lovely pools and private beach. The animation team are superb and make you feel like you want to join in with them as they are so lovely. The guest relations girls do a grand job checking that everybody is happy and ok every day - not had this before - nice touch.
The beach bar is wonderful. Great food for lunch, excellent service and a lovely place to sit and people watch and chat with other guests.
Waiters in the restaurants cant do enough for you and reception staff never fail to acknowledge you when you walk through. All the staff here even the gardeners, cleaners, EVERYONE OF THEM greet you everyday with a lovely smile and are a credit to the hotel.
If you are looking for a relaxing holiday as a couple then this is the place for you.
we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return next year. I have decided that I would like to spend my 50th birthday at this truly wonderful place.

Room Tip: We had room 2331 which had a lovely balcony sea view.

My Sister and I have Just returned from this fab hotel.
The good points,
location is excellent walking distance to the old market and a shopping mall opposite the hotel.
It has it's own beach front and a Free boat to its own coral reef with beach, Captain Izard will take you to the coral and back and if you are not sure about stopping on the beach by the coral or snorkling he will show you the fish from the boat and feed the fish to make them come to the top of the water so you get a great view of them. The majority of the staff are really helpful To mention a few the restaurant managers are second to none and they are always smiling and genuinly want you to have a fantastic holiday therefore nothing is to much trouble for them, Thank you for my morning Cappochino. Alla who we 1st came across in the A La Carte Italian restaurant Toscana was superb. This is a must to visit but book as soon as you get there as spaces are booked very quickly. You will not be disappointed. If you book all inclusive with Thomson you can eat her once as part of your package. The hotel has 2 other buffet restaurants La coupole and Blue Marine. We prefered Blue Marine for our evening meal as it felt a more relaxed atmosphere.Samy looked after us her on a number of occasions again always smiling and nothing to much trouble. The reception staff are fab and I must not forget to mention Tarek. The rooms are very spacious and well kept beds are comfortable and so are the pillows.Towels are changed every day.2 Bottles of water are left daily in your room. The guy at the pool bar sorry can't remeber your name makes lovely cocktails.Mohamed (moo moo) who looks afer the beds around the pool area is also very accomodating.Mr Siillyman or Simpson he doesn't mind what you call him in the shop was a pleasure to haggle with.
No children at the hotel was also a plus for us.
Not so good points
The service at the Pappagolla bar and the beach bar could be improved.
The beauty salon women were annoying with there constant daily visits to try to get you to the salon. We knew it was there if we were interested we would ask prices etc we do not need to be badgered whilst on holiday this also goes for the massage guy.
All taken in to consideration a good holiday and We would recommend this Hotel

Room Tip: We had a pool view room and it was fab excellent location for all facilities

I have been back home for one week now and I am missing the place terribly. What a great hotel with a relaxed atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble for any one. Just mention it to Mohammad and it’s sorted. I was not happy with my original room and the next morning I was moved without any fuss. My new room was very spacious especially for one. The food was excellent and very well presented. I took taxis to Soho Square and Nama Bay as these were very easy to get and cheap and I did walk to Old Market regularly. This is not the first time I have stayed in Sharm but the first time in the Iberotel Palace and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It’s a great place.

Have just returned from this lovely hotel with fantastic staff but it is a shame the food was a let down except for the lovely Italian restaurant. If you prefer to eat later in the evening, in our case 7.30 to 8.00 it seems you have to put up with luke warm, sad looking food. That is a pity as the choice of food was fantastic. Customer relations were advised of this and we were told to ask the staff to heat our food up which is not really what we had in mind. We do appreciate the problems of a buffet and don't expect red hot food, just something appetising and other hotels manage.
As per a previous reprt the constant badgering to have beauty treatments, go diving, have massages was irritating and the beauty shop personnel beat the record by approaching us 4 times in 1 day. I found the spa staff to be pushy and in fact quite intimidating...can they not realise that we will ask if we want anything above what we have already booked.
If the animation staff can be really friendly without getting in your face I suppose it is all down to commission earnings.
Overall we did enjoy our break but would hope to read about some improvement on this website before booking again.
