Reviewed January 20, 2014

I stayed @ the Maritim Jolie Ville golf from 12th-27th December - with my partner and 7 year old daughter.
We had booked an All-Inclusive holiday through a UK tour operator , we have previously stayed in Egypt on an All-Inclusive basis 2 years previous .
We chose this hotel because of the Star Rating & Trip advisor reviews plus this had a heated pool. we have always gone to the Caribbean on a all inclusive, but was unprepared for what we encountered here
The hotel was only 15 to 20% full this was what we were told by the duty manager. So the large number of restaurants that had been mention in the hotels itinerary which appealed to us, a few of these were not open on the days that they were specified.
The Hotel was built about 15 years ago and this shows in the dated decor and corridor carpets and the decor and broken floor tiles in room.there was 3 shops in the lobby but only one of these shops was ever open.
The beach area was like a scene from the Pirates of the Caribbean with areas to sun bath on the man made terraces on the cliff face (this beach area is not suitable for people with walking difficulties) once down to the 3 jettys you were able to see the most beautiful coloured fishes on the reef the jettys had steps going down into sea if you wanted to do some snorkeling or diving if you want to this area was lovely to relax and take in the sun.
The main pool is big and has lazy river with slides this is were we spent most of our time, the pool recreation man (Mohamed was brilliant looked after us and our daughter really well)
Royal wing has its own pool. There are lots of fountains, & dolphins witch spouts water shoots which are not currently in use. Main pool is heated which is good but all of it needed sprucing up - some of it lining was really stained.
There is no daytime animation team so no activities other than diving, golf, spa & tennis.
Dinner is available in main restaurant & there is a big canopied area with a stage where there might be some entertainment if your lucky - or not! It was sometimes on too early. Main buffet ok but nothing special - like eating in a cafeteria some days.
They did show kids films in La Shisha & big screen football as well.
There are also some a'la carte restaurants which you could use in All-inclusive package, Mandarin Chinese - V good, Noodle Bar in same restaurant on different night - also good but you are only allowed 1 dish from the menu. Zaman lebanese though this was the same food as what the buffet served, all of these restaurants are open on a rota system and you get 3 visits per week of stay we changed our vouchers so we could go to the chinese more often. And the Jolie Bistro which is also open but not included in any package - you could get a 25% discount.
There is a Bar in the main hotel called the Ascot - this is not included on All-inclusive - so if you want an All-inclusive drink - which after all you have paid for you have to go out of the main building to La Luna - meant to be a disco. It is kind of a jungle theme, dark, lots of steps, bridge And all this before a convention of young Russians arrived which caused chaos. There were somewhere between 400 to 450. Teenagers or early twenties, scantly dress and disregard for everyone else - we had to go to reception on the Saturday morning complaining about the noise in the early hours of the morning by these young people, all we got was we were told to phone security as and when it happens again and they will speak to the people making the noise, again early hours of Sunday morning 2:30 the noise started again we phone security half hour later noise still going on phone security again and he said he was to busy to sort the noise so we shouted at the young Russians to be quite this was replaced with laughter, so from 2:30 myself partner and daughter did not sleep again to make things worse there was a party opposite our room in the royal wing.
They wore shorts into dinner - when there is a big sign saying "no shorts" brought there own alcohol in to drink in lobby & completely took over La Luna - staff seemed ill equipped or unprepared to sort them out. Luckily they were only there for two and half days but it did seem as if the russians were much more important than us or anyone else staying at this hotel who had probably paid more.
This was not a cheap hotel & I expected a lot more for my money, - Don't expect 5 star luxury. 3.5 star at best. i would like to say a big thank you to George, Mohamid, Ado, and most of the waiters in the buffet and bbq area, these people make this hotel, Would i return to this hotel yes i would, but they need to sort out things.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the royal wing pool.

Overall we enjoyed our stay but the hotel is certainly not 5 star.

The food in the buffet was average but the pool restaurants at lunch were very good as was the Chinese at night. Breakfast was OK but once they ran out of items they were often not replenished.

We were AI and boy do they make it complicated. Fortunately we were on the best package (only luck we just booked AI) but others could only drink at night in the disco which is ridiculous as that will obviously not suit everyone so check what you are buying if you go AI. You couldn't get a drink inside the hotel during the day unless you paid for it in the bistro so if you were watching football kicking of at 2.00 p.m. in the UK you watched the 1st half in the bistro then moved over to the Ascot bar for the 2nd half. It also took us nearly a week to understand what you were covered for food wise and this was down to poor staff understanding of the package as we kept getting conflicting information e.g. we asked if we could eat at night in the Bistro and were told yes but we would need to pay and get 25% discount. When we got there we were given a limited menu which was included in our package so were pleasantly surprised. We also were led to believe that charges would also apply in the Chinese unless it was the restaurant of the day but we found out again that this was not the case and in fact you could eat there every night if you wanted to albeit paying slight supplements for some choices.

At New Year they had a gala dinner at $200 a head so we gave that a miss and found the main buffet better than usual but nothing special.

Pool areas were great but the main pool got quite cramped late in the afternoon when the sun went down as the abundance of trees blocked out the rays. This didn't bother the Russians they simply moved their beds all around you if you were in the sun so it got a bit noisy and frankly uncomfortable. Sundowner the place to go if you want it quiet and spacious.

My friend and I played golf every second day and I have to say found it great golf experience. Teeing off around 9.00 a.m we were round in less than three hours every time. The course had waste areas instead of rough so no time spent looking for golf balls. Not a demanding course but plenty to keep you interested and the water hazards make it a lot of fun with a few risk reward holes thrown in and not forgetting the 6th and 18th which are two stunning golf holes.

Our room had two queen sized beds which were not the comfiest but the room was spacious and well kept. Annoying though that the minibar was not refilled.

Main plus for the hotel were the staff. Keep giving them small tips and they really look after you and they are generally always smiling and always willing to help.

Main gripe was the WIFI. Poor quality and only available in part of the lobby and to make matters worse they charge you a fortune for it and it's a bit underhand as they list the prices in US Dollars and not realising this when I booked it it was a bit of a shock getting a £50 ($80) bill for 7 days intend of the £7 I was expecting. I won't make this mistake again.

Overall a worthwhile and enjoyable visit but probably wouldn't go back to this hotel but will visit the golf course again.

My son and I chose the hotel as it had the golf course and came highly rated. We upgraded to the Royal Wing where the facilities surpassed those of the main building. Standard restaurants good, with the Chinese & Bistro being the best of the specialties. Service and assistance from all staff excellent, especially the head of bar services. Pool bar, restaurant, golf and beach staff excelled and contributed greatly to the enjoyment of the holiday. Grounds beach and pool facilities excellent all kept scrupulously clean and well maintained.

There were some signs of cost cuttings as mentioned by other reviewers (Occupancy rates down due to recession) although none impacted on the holiday.

Minor negatives, No free WiFi and no All Inclusive golf deals.

Spa and Kids facilities not used, therefore no rating given

Room Tip: Royal wing rooms worth the extra.

Had a really good holiday in Egypt staying at Maritim Jolie Ville Golf & Resort in January 2014. I can really recommend this hotel. The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly and the facilities at the hotel are super.
It fits both families with kids but also people travelling without kids as we did will like this hotel as it has quiet areas as well. We stayed at the Royal Wing and this area was quiet and the rooms were amazing.
There are different restaurants to choose from. As all inclusive guest you can visit 3 other restaurant than the buffet restaurant, and all of them are really good. Other from that, the Japanese restaurant has delicious food for a very good price and with good entertainment from the chef.
The beach and reef at the hotel is also nice, the beach divided in different plateaus so you can stay close to the water or further up.

We booked one week from dec 29th - jan 5th, it was really wonderful holiday. We have got a room with 2 large bed, the room was spacious, clean, has a great view to a nice pool with the mountain background. Yet they still need to upgrade their old TVs, but it was not a big deal as we were spending most of the time by the pool and beach. The best thing was the dinning, we booked all inclusive package, which was a good choice. The breakfast buffet was good, they are offering fresh orange juice in the breakfast which I did not find in my last all inclusive hotel. Lunch was offered at the beach and the pools restaurants. We were allowed to choose from the ala carte menus, but we loved the beach restaurant as it has a magnificent view. The internet was not free, they have wifi only in loony. The new year party was fine, specially the buffet, but the decoration could be better. Pools were heated, they have 2 big pools, one of them has mini aqua as they call it. Definitely we will be back again.

Had a wonderful holiday! Stayed in courtyard standard room between the 23rd-3rd January. Room was perfectly adequate for us. We didn't mind not having a view as we weren't in it enough to be bothered.
Food was great. I had salads, ice in drinks, no bad tummies. Lots of variety and always fresh.
We particularly liked the Pool side BBQ resturant. Wonderful to sit and eat outside in the sun.
Special mention to the very wonderful Farag. The nicest man you could wish to meet. Excellent at his job, always smiling and giving the very best service always, with a smile. (Miss you Farag)!
Must also mention Mohammed from the pool area. He really looked after us. Put our towels out daily, and was so eager to please, bringing us drinks, cleaning our sunglasses, nothing was too much trouble. He is a real asset to the hotel. Charming, and so kind.
My son loved the pool and the slides.
Two negatives of the hotel only:-
First being No Wifi!!! you had to pay for it!!! (The royal peninsula next door it's free!!!!
Secondly, the only bar within the hotel the Ascot Bar is not included in the All inclusive package! Why???

We are looking for a hotel for April, and although we would love to return here, the Wifi situation means we couldn't as my husband needs internet access 24/7 in order to run a business. Such a shame.

All the staff at this hotel made our stay, they are so welcoming and friendly. Resort was quiet, but this made it even nicer, as the service was 1st class!

Thank you all so much.........

Having spent the last 3 Christmases at the Jolie Ville Hotel on King's Island in Luxor we were expecting a hotel of similar quality, run to the same high standard. The only reason for not returning there was wanting a bit of a change and hoping for warmer weather in Sharm. Sorry Urs, we should have come back for a fourth time - read the reviews people - it is an excellent hotel with outstanding management, run by a strong staff and they care about their hotel and their guests. Why are management standards so different in hotels of the same group? Are the hotels in the group visited and inspected regularly? I had a very high opinion of Jolie Ville hotels based on my experiences in Luxor but sadly not any more.

That this hotel was not similar to King's Island became apparent very quickly with check in carried out in an offhand way.

We were then taken to our room but on opening the door we found a double room when I had booked a twin for myself and my daughter. We waited while the person who had brought the cases returned to reception. When he reappeared we were taken to the room next door which was a twin room. The room was large with a comfortable seating area at the opposite end to the beds.

Everything seemed to be in order but then we began to discover that simply boiling a kettle of water was a challenge as the electrics are not as one might expect. I am not going to describe how you get the correct combination of switches to get the socket to function but leave that to future guests to discover for themselves. Do be careful with the cheap kettles as our first one had to be exchanged because it did not turn itself off when the water was boiling and when this was done manually a jet of steam came out of the handle and burned my fingers. The second kettle was not much better. The beds are very hard but an alternative mattress was provided after I asked for one at reception - I knew from previous experience that the hotel group will provide this. So if you find your bed too hard then ask!

When speaking to fellow guests we discovered here were two kinds of rationing going on; tea bags and sachets of instant coffee were not being replaced or rooms were given the bar minimum. So we were donating our unwanted supplies to others. However the more interesting rationing relates to toilet rolls. Getting a replacement toilet roll from housekeeping needed considerable determination; phone calls or visits to reception were required and many guests resorted to acquiring them from the various public toilets in the hotel grounds with the result that these contained little or no paper most of the time. Clearly they are not checked very regularly either. This is ridiculous in a hotel of this size and rating.

The main issue with this hotel is its very poor management and equally poor communication with guests. You see managers moving around but they rarely interact with staff or guests. Interestingly the day after a very negative review appeared on this site managers were out and about speaking to guests. Some staff are great, being both professional and friendly. Others are uncommunicative and seem fed up with their role; to me this suggests weak management. It is annoying to be asked at every meal if you are an AI guest or a HB guest and surprise expressed when, as we were, you are neither of these. Keep all your bill copies so you can check at the end of your stay as well as at each meal; we had to ask for corrections on a number of occasions. Others have described the peculiar ideas there are here about A.l.

The food is, with one exception, nowhere near as good as on King's Island. The exception is the quality of the various pizzas available at lunchtime from the various outlets or the Bistro in the evening. These together with the salads are very good. The guys in the Bistro are lovely. Breakfast is typical of such hotels and the eggs and omelettes are fine. What is poor is the coffee which you get from a Nescafe machine. Freshly brewed coffee is not available. This did not bother me too much as I take ground coffee sachets with me wherever I go but surely a hotel of this rating can be bothered to provide good coffee.

With guest numbers being low only one restaurant is open each evening in addition to the buffet. The buffet is fairly boring and poor value at 225 LE. Very little effort is taken over presentation. The mezze starters are generally the best thing about the meals. The deserts are mainly types of cake which look pretty but are tasteless. The best are the local Egyptian pastry ones. There is little fruit available. The hot main courses sit in their containers and look more and more tired as time goes on. However the buffet food in the Lebanese restaurant is much better, with more care taken over presentation. The lighting here is brighter and the staff more professional. However a management issue also arose in relation to this restaurant. On Xmas Day, a Wednesday, I telephoned to book a table that evening. I was asked if I wished to eat inside or on the terrace and at what time. When we got there at 7 pm it was to discover that it was not open that evening - and yet the booking had been taken!

I had booked through Olympic Holidays and the Xmas Eve Gala meal in the Lebanese restaurant had been part of the package. The hotel was trying to persuade other guests to have this meal but some were quoted 75 USD and others 100 USD! Thank you Olympic for including this; it was a very pleasant evening but not worth 75 USD per head. Two days before, at 9.30 pm the phone rang in the room and the caller wanted to read me the menu so that I could make choices for myself and daughter. As it was not easy to make out what was being said I declined and requested a written copy which I would annotate and return. This failed to appear the next day so back to reception where a very helpful young woman printed off a copy. When I returned this later the person on reception picked up the phone, got through to the restaurant and then handed me the phone expecting me to read out the whole thing. I suggested that this might be their job and not mine.

WiFi charges are high and unjustifiable; there is a so-called internet café in the foyer but tis is not functional at all. The noise from the disco is excessive and goes on beyond 2 am. We were there when the large Russian group, described by an earlier reviewer, was staying. They were mostly young women who seemed pleasant enough but finding somewhere to sit and eat lunch without breathing in cigarette smoke was not easy.

I hope the information above, presented calmly, helps prospective guests to make informed judgements as they consider booking this hotel. We will not be returning.

Room Tip: We had a twin pool view room (1108) on the ground floor towards the extreme end of the curved main b...
