We booked 11 nights for about 350 NKR per night, which is incredibly cheap for a 5 star. But we booked through Hotels.com in the time of the revolution, maybe this is why.

ROOMS: We stayed in three rooms. 1509, 5001, and ended up in 1205 with a pool view. Why did we change room? It was because we wanted a room with a balcony, so we changed the next morning. But the balcony room had only twin beds, which would have been ok had they not been so lousy in quality. My bed was a frame matrass, and it had lumps and was uneven. I complained one day, and they said they would fix it, but nothing happened. I slept two horrible nights there, and the day after we were moved to a room on the ground floor with a king size bed.

THIS YOU MUST KNOW: ALL 2 FLOOR ROOMS DO NOT HAVE KING SIZE BED. ONLY TWIN BEDS OR QUEEN BED, BUT THEY ARE NOT IN GOOD QUALITY (I visited 3 rooms like this).

After that I was happy, the curtains were fine, bathroom fine, AC fine, cleaning perfect (thank you Mohammed!), only the poolbar played the same very loud music every night after sunset. I now know all the songs on Amr Diabs new album!! But if you close the door it is ok.

FOOD: Lovely breakfast every day, say no more. Lovely lunch, little bit pricey but fine. Only make sure you can order pizza and some pasta dishes also because it does not say so on the menu. I had penne arrabiata and spaghetti bolognese, just ask Ahmed, there are two of them at the pool bar, they both provide extremely good service. The shortest Ahmed gave us incredibly good service, we will never forget you. If you get good service, dont forget to give a tip, 10-20 pound. These guys dont have a big salary.

LOCATION: This hotel is located on the very edge of Hadaba. Best supermarked is "Metro" near to Alf Leila Wa Leila. A cab there should cost no more than 10 pounds, really! And to go to Mercato also, no more than 10 pound. To Naama Bay, start with 20 and pay no more than 25-30. Just dont take the taxi immediately after the gate, walk little bit and wait for a taxi to come, this will be an advantage for you in the negotiation. Egyptian cab fares are not like the west, even the cab driver will try to convince you otherwise.

SWIMMING: Here you can swim on the beautiful reef all day and forget about the world around you. But I strongly advise not to rent mask from the dive center, they gave me very bad masks 5 times that took in water. Seems like a joke to me. Better buy a mask from your home country or when you arrive in Sharm. Buy a silicon one. Yes, and one day I was in the water a boat came to pick up guests from the jetty, and one from the diving centre should have let the boat wait before he came so close to me. I just looked up an saw a big hard plast boat coming toward me and didnt know if the driver had control. It was very scary, but they guy didnt care even he said he was sorry. Must of these guys showed an arrogant face apart from one who seemed very nice (a dive instructor) and friendly. Anyway I dont see a point of diving with them because there is nothing to se further down. Waste of money.

SERVICE: The receptionists were not very hearty. Mohammed was ok, but the two girls I am sorry to say, were not too friendly. Why? Staff elsewhere very nice, also the guy who drove me on the golf car everywhere to look for a room. Delighted to serve was also ok, gave us tea boiler for the room, made some mistakes but all right, who is perfect. In the folder from the hotel they promise ut the marriot bathrobe, but they dont have it. Thats too bad. Life Guard Achmed was great!!!!!!! So polite, so social, but never too much, really focused on his work.

All in all it was a lovely vacation, and with the

Room Tip: Go for ground floor, because the best beds are here!

We have just returned from our 6th visit to this hotel and it never fails to impress us. That is the reason why we keep returning year after year. The hotel itself is fabulous but the staff really make it for us.

We were greeted when we arrived by Mustafa who delivered us and our luggage immediately to our lovely suite. He remembered us straight away which was a lovely welcome to the start of our holiday.

The holiday itself was amazing, the sun shines every day, and there is always enough sunbeds to go around. There are 3 pools and the sea is beautiful offering an array of sealife which never fails to fascinate. The food at all the restaurants is excellent and we certainly never go hungry.

The staff at the hotel not only remember you but they offer consistent excellent service and nothing is too much trouble. The staff are friendly and delivery everything quickly and efficiently and always with a smile. This is the primary reason why we keep returning.

We would like to extend our special thanks to the following:

Mustafa - Concierge
Adel, Chantal - Reception
Saad, Ahmed, Ahmed, Ahmed, Mohamed, Abdel, Hamada - Coast
Michael, Luca (Wael), Mahmoud, Ayman, Sharif and welcome back Bakar - Acapulco Joe's
Atta, Ahmed - Rotunda
Sayed, Salem, Mohamed - Recreation
Adam - Spa Royale (his english is second to none)

Also the many staff that do work in the background like the gardeners, kitchen staff, cleaners etc - you all do a great job.

We had a great holiday and we hope to return again to experience the many fabulous things that this hotel and staff offer again and again.

With very best wishes

John & Helen Butler

We are frequent travellers and have visited Egypt many times, although not the Sharm area. We had heard that it's like Blackpool in the sun so had avoided it. We also knew the diving and snorkelling were incredible, so bit the bullet and decided to visit. We used this site and others to select our hotel on the basis of 5 star, high standards, beautiful setting, good food and peaceful. We were not disapointed and in many ways, this hotel exceeded our expectations. The "Blackpool" comparison was based on the Naama Bay area and this was indeed very busy and not somewhere we would want to stay, although it was buzzing and was great fun to visit at night. The Camel Bar rooftop bar is great to soak up the atmosphere.

The hotel itself is very elegant, very clean and the service is exceptional, everyone was extremely friendly and always helpful. The pools, gardens and restaurants were first class. The food was plentiful with a wide variety and very tasty considering it was self service in the main restaurant. We were half board and happy to eat in the main restaurant every evening. The snorkelling off the private beach was incredible, as good as anything we'd seen and better than some of the boat/snorkelling trips that we went on. Every other guest we spoke with loved the place, we heard no negative comments from anyone and many guests had been before, some many times. No one while we were there had any stomach problems, even when eating the vast amounts of salads and fresh fruit. All the water used is bottled including for washing food and making ice cubes.

We've never been to the same hotel or location twice as we like to try new things but would definately come back to this hotel and indeed are looking to come back next year. It was quiet, very relaxing and a great holiday. Thank you to the staff at the Renaissance.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper level of the complex give easy access to the main facilities.

We visited the hotel on our honeymoon, from 19th to 26th September 2011.

We had decided to return to this hotel as we had enjoyed out first holiday together here back in 2007.

The hotel is located in a fairly quiet part of Sharm El Sheikh, about 5 miles from Naama Bay.

We had a truly wonderful time, and wouln't hesitate to recommend the hotel. It's a great location and the staff are absolutely first-class.

The main building and recption area is uttelry stunning - high domed ceiling and marble floors and pillars, and very welcoming. This area also leads to the lobby bar and main 'Coast' restaurant. Exceptional surroundings.

The rooms are located in blocks of two-storeys, and these lead down-hill to the beach area - there are quite a few steps, so those who find it difficult to walk up and down steps or hills should request a room nearer tot he main building, or take advantage of the buggy service. We had a standard twin room with sea view, and though the decor is getting a little worn in places, the room overall was superb. Cleaned to within an inch of it's life every day, good powerful A/C, spacious bathrooms, very comfortable beds, excellent views from the balcony. Plenty of hot water too, and well-stocked mini bar.

We spent most of our days by the main pool (close to the main building) and had a great time. The pool was immaculate, warm, and huge. Sunloungers in abundance, plenty of other guests to talk to but never too many for the number of beds. We were impeccably looked after by Ayman the 'pool dude', who never tired of making sure we were OK - cleaning sunglasses, offering iced coolled face-towels, generally being a great host.

Adjacent to this pool is the 'Rotunda' bar, where reasonably priced drinks and bar meals are available. This is also the main eveing bar, where there is occasionally local entertainment during the evening. We enjoyed great service here, during the day and eveing, provided by the excellent Mohamed, Atta and Ahmed - a trio of very professional, dedicated and extremely friendly and genuine chaps.

Wifi is available in the hotel's public areas at quite a cost - however, it is provided free for a short time at the bar areas providing you buy a drink. This wifi was a life-line for us, as we had left our son in the care of Grandma and Grandad back in the UK whilst we were honeymooning, so our evening ritual of Skype-ing the boy back home became a bit of a joke with the bar staff!

We found the food in the hotel to be of great quality, though there did not seem to be as much choice as the last time we'd visited, but there was enough.

Prices for local drinks were reasonable.

We only left the hotel twice in the week, both times to go into Naama Bay for the evening. We went by taxi for about 35LE each way (about £3), but there is a courtesy bus from the hotel that goes during the day and evening.

In all, a great hotel, with staff who do seem genuinely passionate about their guest's enjoyment. Very pleased to recommend.
