“Not exactly what we'd hoped for!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

We stayed at the sultan gardens on 22nd July 2013 for one week. This trip was our long awaited honeymoon, we left our children at home with our parents. We chose this hotel due to a recommendation from a friend and due to the fantastic reviews. We arrived at around 6pm at the hotel, we were shown to our room which was a suite, on arriving in the room we found that the rooms were very clean but extremely outdated. We agreed that this wouldn't be a problem if the rest of the hotel lived up to expectations. We then went for our tea, again we were extremely disappointed at the choice of foods, but we were determined to enjoy ourselves.
The next day we went for breakfast, and again barely ate! We then went on the hunt for a nice lively pool, we struggled to find it the hotel was like a ghost town, we struggled to determine which pool was the quiet one and which ones weren't. The lively friendly atmosphere written about on here was nowhere to be seen. We went for a meal to the Italian, this was fantastic, but made me even more frustrated that it was obvious that the hotel was capable of good food, but this was not reflected during any of the other mealtimes.
Over the next couple of days things were niggling at us, you had to pay extra for fresh juices and fresh fruit, you couldn't enjoy an all inclusive ice cream until 3pm.
We decided to go and speak to a manager, this was successful he agreed that the entertainment was to be moved to by the main pool due to others complaining, we were allowed fresh juices in the morning and had a fruit basket delivered to our room, he also stated that we the evening discotheque was included in the all inclusive, apart form a saturday when they have a white party. He also offered us to keep our room until we departed on our last day.We were also offered a room change we were shown two rooms, a refurbished one and a sea view room, a note to guests who think they are going to a refurbished room.... they are exactly the same apart from a lick of paint, they are still extremely outdated, but clean.
So we moved to a 'refurbed' room only down to location, it had a pool view.
We started to relax and enjoy our holiday a bit more, we coped with the fact that the food wasn't very nice and picked at what we could, the food was always fresh and hot, we did find that some of the other guests poor habits were petty bad, particularly the egyptian ones, they would pick food up with their fingers, put them back lick their fingers and touch the food again. Both me and my husband had poorly tummies throughout our stay but we believe that it was not due to the hotel directly but the poor habits of some of the other guests. On the friday of our stay we went back to our room at around 5pm we sat reading for a while when i noticed a stench of smoke, we hunted around the room, there was a fire in the air-conditioning unit in the bath room, we contacted reception and they said someone was on their way, my husband managed to put out the fire but we could not be sure if it was all gone. Twenty minutes later there was still no sign of help we contacted them again they assured someone was on their way, 10 more minutes passed before some one arrived, a manager poked his head in then left again leaving three maintenance men, who told us they were awaiting an engineer. An engineer arrived and took around 45 minutes to fix the problem an fix the electrics that had been tripped out.
By this time we were late for our meal at the indian restaurant, we went to complain to the manager stating that whilst we were aware that the fire was accidental their attendance time was unacceptable it was very lucky that we weren't asleep. The manager agreed and acknowledged this and stated whilst it was no excuse but the time that we rung was 6.30pm and breakfast time due to ramadan, all staff were eating, he offered us a meal in the steak house free of charge on the next night. He told us he would book and sort everything we were to turn up at 8pm on saturday at the steakhouse. We enjoyed our meal at the steak house but even this was not without is issues, we tried to order the ribeye each only to be told they only had the one steak available because you needed to pre order, miraculously they managed to find us some steaks but we had to fight over who would have the sirloin and who would have the ribeye, totally unacceptable and just another negative to our holiday.
The overall service at the hotel was ok but only if you tipped every person you spoke to, i don't mind tipping but excellent service should come as standard when you claim to be a 5 star hotel.
Every issue we approached the management with were sorted, however we feel we should not have had to approach them in the first place, this being a 5 star hotel.
We will not return to this hotel, our long awaited honey moon was ruined, this is such a shame.

Dear Renee P,

Thank you for choosing the Sultan Gardens Resort and for taking the time to post your detailed and balanced review. We would like to begin by expressing our sincerest regrets that your stay with us did not live up to your hopes as well as apologize for any lapses on our part which contributed to this situation. The satisfaction of our guests is our top priority and we share your disappointment that it was not possible to achieve this in your case.

At this stage, we would also like to take this opportunity to address some of the points raised in your review so as to provide you with additional information that may not have been clear to you during your stay. We would like to stress that this is not done so as to deflect blame or create excuses but is in fact, as stated done purely out of a desire to provide additional information.

We apologize that the standard of guest rooms at Sultan Gardens Resort was not to your satisfaction and appreciate that opinions may vary on this point, but we would like to mention that the guest rooms at Sultan Gardens Resort are large, modern and include all the amenities one would expect to find in a five star resort. Moreover, these amenities are present as per regulations stipulated by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism to achieve five star classification. As such all of our guest rooms, whether they are refurbished or not, include the following amenities:

Digital Televisions with satellite channels
Direct Dial telephones
Digital Weight Scales
Individual in room air conditioning units
Tea and Coffee Making Facilities
Bottles of Mineral water delivered to the room daily (1 per day per every 2 guests in room with additional bottles available upon request and without charge)
Wireless Internet Access
Free to use Digital safe boxes
Mini Fridges
Hair Dryers
Vanity Mirrors
Complimentary Toiletries such as soaps and shampoos replenished daily
Bath Robes
Slippers
Vanity Mirrors
Bath or Shower

Regarding room renovations, these involve a large scale 30 day process that includes:

Replacing all linens and curtains with brand new ones
Disassembling all the wooden furniture in the room then removing it in pieces, sanding it down, re-varnishing it and reassembling it.
Repainting all walls
Repairing or replacing any tiles or bathroom fixtures as needed.
A thorough deep clean of the bathroom pipes and drains as well as air conditioning ducts (taking advantage of the opportunity to do so while the rooms are stripped bare).

Having stated the above we would also add that our experience with competing five star accommodations in Sharm el Sheikh, as well as five star accommodations in Europe, North America and the Caribbean, leads us to believe that our guest rooms are neither outdated nor lacking in any amenities. We nonetheless fully appreciate that this was the impression you were left with and acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. To this end, we welcome to please contact us so that we can get a better sense of what amenities you felt the room was lacking and what made you feel that it was basic or outdated so that we may do our best to address these issues for future guests.

Moving on, we are very sorry that you were not totally satisfied with the choice of food available on our main buffet. Sultan Gardens Resort understands that dining is a crucial part of the holiday experience and spares no effort or expense in providing what it considers to be top quality food and variety. We share your disappointment, that you felt that there was a lack of sufficient choice but we truly believe that the choice is excellent and this is apparently confirmed by the fact that cumulative statistics indicate that guest satisfaction with food options at Sultan Gardens Resort is about 95% positive. To be quite honest, we have no doubt that you will not be able to find a better all inclusive buffet at better value anywhere in Sharm el Sheikh.

Now having said that, we also fully appreciate that it is simply not possible to create a buffet menu that will satisfy all guests all of the time. After all food is extremely subjective and what one guest may consider to be a wealth of choice may appear to be lacking in choice to another guest. We understand this and recognize that the minority of guests who are not totally satisfied with the choice on the buffet are entitled to feel as they do. That is why we are always ready to cater to individual guest requests as they are brought to our attention and we encourage any guest who is not totally satisfied with the choice or variety at any meal to please let us know. As stated cases were guests are not totally satisfied with the food are extremely rare, and we will be happy to prepare individual meals for these guests after they have met with the Chef to let him know what they like and don't like, without any extra charge.

We acknowledge and apologize for the fact that your visit did in fact coincide with a time during which the resort was hosting some guests who, unfortunately, did not demonstrate proper behavior, hygiene, or in some cases respect for the hotel rules or for other guests. We suffered from this, perhaps as much as you did, and we are very sorry that it negatively affected your holiday. We hope you can appreciate that the Resort is not able to screen guests prior to arrival and that once they are in house it can be a difficult situation for hotel management to be in. For example, a guest may be too loud, or display poor hygiene, but the Resort is in a position or providing service to the guest and as such our first action is to politely ask the guest to alter their behavior out of consideration for other guests. If the guest replies positively and says that they will correct their behavior we must take them at their word and cannot then police them as we are not in a position to do so. However if a guest is being bothered by another guest and identifies that guest to hotel management with a specific complaint then the Management can take firmer action with that individual as it has been empowered to do so by a specific (must be specific, not general) complaint from another guests that it can act upon. We absolutely share your frustration regarding this point and want to reiterate our deepest regret that it affected your stay.

As for the issue with the fan in your bathroom and the delay in handling it, there is no excuse for this and you have every right to be disappointed. There is no excuse for it but there are certain extenuating circumstances that resulted in the daily, namely the fact that this incident occurred during Ramadan (where Muslims fast from dawn till dusk) and the incident was reported at the exact time when the staff had sat down for their meal at sunset. Additionally the incident did result in a wire in the fan melting and thus producing the smell of smoke, there was no fire, nor sufficient smoke or heat to set off the fire alarm or smoke detector in your room. This, combined with the timing of the incident resulted in the delay in our response that, although there was no danger to yourselves or the room, is nonetheless totally inexcusable. We have taken steps to insure that this situation is not repeated in the future and we thank you for your patience and understanding regarding this point.

We are also sorry that your meal at the Fleur De Leis Cajun steakhouse was not without issue. Again, there is no excuse and we are sorry for having let you down in this way. Obviously there can no excuse for offering a complimentary steakhouse dinner as a service recovery then failing to make the proper arrangements for said dinner.

We are shocked and saddened to read that you felt that you had to tip staff to get high end service while staying at our resort. This violates our ethos which stresses that tips are always welcome but never required and we aim to hang our hats on the fact that our staff and managers provide friendly attentive and alert service without having to be tipped for incentive. We encourage any guest who feels that they are having to tip to receive good service to please let the resort management know immediately so that we can rectify the situation. Additionally we ask that you please contact us so to identify which areas or members of staff you encountered who did not provide five star service until tipped so we can take precise and immediate corrective action.

Finally, regarding the hotel's star rating, we would like to mention that the resort does not "claim" to be five star. Rather it has been awarded a five star rating by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism because it achieves all the standards and services required to earn this rating. This point is purely for your information and we fully appreciate that it is in many ways irrelevant since the official rating has no meaning if your actual experience is not five star. We assure you that we take your feedback very seriously and that we take it on board as a five star facility should.

Thank you again for choosing our resort and for taking the time to post your review. We hope that you will reconsider a return visit to Sultan Gardens Resort and we remain at your service.

Best Regards

Have just returned from a two week break in a family room at the Sultan Gardens. It was our first trip to Egypt and we were unsure if we had done the right thing, especially with the current unrest in the North of the country. We flew out with Thomas Cook - a 6 hour flight landing at an airport more like a cattle market ! But once out of that hellhole it was a 15 minute drive to the hotel. We had read lots about the hotel -is it 4*? 5* ? What it is-is a hotel where the staff are friendly, welcoming and make you feel instantly at ease. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are comfortable, the pools great, the entertainment fun with lots of alcohol around to dull any painful moments. The restaurant food was fine with a family restaurant and a couples only floor, then there were two further restaurants -an Italian and an Indian that you get one visit per week to, and a seafood and a steak restaurant that you pay to eat in. We ate in all of these are didn't have a bad meal. The staff were great -a special mention to Lofty who oversaw the main restaurant and was an fantastic ambassador for the hotel. Also our room was kept as clean as any I have ever stopped in. We took a bag of pound coins out with us to tip as we went, but needn't have as the staff are desperate to change pound coins into notes as they cannot spend the coins. Tipping is entirely down to you, we were happy to give a pound to the waiters serving us for our meals and drinks as they did a great job. There is a small gym on the hotel and a spa where they offer treatments, the staff go around the pool selling these treatments along with day trips ect, but do not hassle you if you don't want one. The hotel was about 60% occupied when we were there and by 8.30 most of the loungers by the top pools were taken, but there were always beds with umbrellas available by the lower pool and in the adults only one. As far as value for money goes this hotel definitely ticked the box for us, wether we would choose Egypt again we are undecided but there is nothing bad we could say about this hotel, you can sleep well if you have booked to go here but are having doubts. Finally my 17 year old daughter who has travelled a lot, had the best holiday of her life, the hotel animation staff take the older kids out in a group of an evening and look after them for the night, I never dreamt I would let my daughter out of a night but was extremely happy with the hotel animation team so another big thank you to them as we'll. In fact a big thank you to all the hotel staff, you made our holiday a great one :)

Room Tip: Room 614 was a good size family room, growing floor that backed onto the pool next to the bar :)

stayed last week july and 1st week august. we arranged transfer with hotel. free on arrival and only 2 euros each on return. Walked out of arrival hall and there was the driver waiting outside .
We had an issue at checkin because of problem with the holiday company we booked with, but this was handled well by Mohammed at reception.
stayed in rooms 170/173 close to pool 2 and all restaurants. 170 looked over pool 2 and had a distant seaview and 173 looked through the trees to pool1. Rooms had flat screen TVs and were very comfortable and clean.

FOOD
3rd time in Sharm and certainly the best food by far. You can go to the 2 a la carte restaurants each once per week. Italian Casa Mia was excellent with pastas, pizzas various chicken dishes and steak. House of spice Indian was also good. Not quite like at home but we have been to India and that was nothing like home aswell. We prefer our Indians hot so we asked for hot chiilis which 2 minutes later were brought to us. If you want anything just ask!
There is 2 buffet restaurants of which the upstairs one says adults only. we had our 12 year son with us and there was no problem with him going there. Both serve the same food with themed evenings each night. For us the Oriental ( Egyptian) and the Russian were the best. Always a varied choice and something for all to eat.

DRINKS
we found all local drinks good and the wine was the best we have had in Sharm.

STAFF
the staff at Sultan Gardens are Exceptional. All staff were very friendly and unlike some hotels in Sharm you didnt need to tip to get a great service. We tipped but it didnt really matter. I can honestly say we did not meet any member of staff who did not provide 100% service.
The waiters in the restaurants were brilliant and after a day knew our names and remembered what we we wanted to drink.
Pool staff and waiters around pool 2 and 3 ( we were there all the time) were brilliant and once again knew what we wanted to drink and brought drinks around the pool for us. We also drank there before the evening show and they always brought our drinks to the table and often into the shows.
The people selling trips, spa and henna tattoos around the pool were NOT intrusive and were good fun. Our son has a tattoo done and my wife and her sister booked a package at the spa which cost £200 for the 2 of them which entailed 3 massages each and a coconut body scrub. They said it was well worth the money.
The guys at the shops near the reception were also a great laugh and with a bit of bartering you can get a good buy.

ANIMATION TEAM ENTERTAINMENT
The team were superb. Ramy, Tito, Moose( for the 1st 4 days), Katie, Natalie and especially Efgenyi. Efgenyi is Russian and is only learning English but she was OUTSTANDING. You could see her english was improving as the holiday went on. We will always remember her shout of DARTS GAME!
Around the pool the team would arrange water polo, darts, water gym, belly dancing and many other activities. If you dont want to participate, you are not hassled. Its up to you!
Evening entertainment was partially by the animation team but also with outside staff. Russian dancers, Chinese acrobats were some of the highlights. It might not be everyones cup of tea but the kids will certainly enjoy it.

BEACH
not beach lovers so we did not go down often so cant say a great deal. Its not far down from the pools to the beach but it is a hard walk back up in 42C heat. We were lazy and always waited for the TAFTAF bus to take us back up. Once again wonderful drivers.

NATIONALITIES
mix of british, polish , italian, russian , egyptian and others. Good mix , and some of the nicest people we met were from Egypt and the worst from Britain. Some great British people. Zane Laura, Liam, Del, Mat , and HAIRYS familys . sorry always remember the darts names!

OVERALL
Best holiday in Sharm. Looking to go back next year. My wife ALWAYS has an upset stomach abroad ( and I mean Upset) and this was the 1st time that this has not happened.

If you are looking for a great holiday in Sharm, good food and EXCEPTIONAL staff, this hotel is for YOU

DOWNSIDE
Only downside was never met the famous BASEL

We stayed here May 2013. Myself, husband, daughter (11), son (8). This was our second trip to Sharm and having booked last minuite during the school holidays we did end up paying top dollar. We were a little disappointed on arrival as the reception area did look a bit tired and the room although lovely and spacious and pretty clean had the same slightly tired feel. They are refurbishing the junior suites/family rooms and we did view one that overlooked the pool and it was a vast improvement, so book one of those if possible.
The food was lovely and plentifull and the speciality resaurants were also good. The waiters are superb with most speaking very good English, so we were well looked after. The pool attendants were great - helping with beds, chatting and keeping the pool areas lovely and clean and tidy - not easy some times with large groups of Egyptian nationals who are soooo messy and rude!
The kids club and entertainment was average - which is good for Egypt - and my kids always found something to do in the evenings and played games during the day so the adults were able to relax too.
The spa was very nice - if not a little overpriced but hey your on holiday! We had coconut and coffe scrub and 2 massages which were pretty good.
The little things lacking in what I would peg as 5* are -
pool side waiter service was pretty hit and miss
extra charge for cocktails - its all inclusive!!!!
extra charge for fruit at the pool bar - free in the resaurant ??? again its all inclusive!!!
ice cream - a small window of time in the afternoon and a long queue
waiter service in the lobby bar - again a little slow

We did have a very lovely holiday and as mentioned a few tweaks needed to raise their game. Overall this was a very nice and relaxed hotel with excellent staff. Many of the people we spoke to had visited for years which is always a good sign and I would definately consider returning. No tummy issues either which was fab but didnt have a problem previously either although you always hear plenty of horror stories!!

If you have not been then go and definately put this hotel towards the top of your short list.

Room Tip: A refurbed junior suite overlooking the pool.

Dear VickyL33,

Thank you for choosing the Sultan Gardens Resort and for taking the time to post your review. We are very happy your enjoyed your stay with us and we appreciate your feedback. which we will keep in consideration moving forward.

We would like to take this opportunity to mention that the Sultan Gardens Resort offers guests a variety of board options to choose from including bed and breakfast, half board (breakfast and dinner), full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner), all inclusive soft (classic all inclusive package without alcohol), classic all inclusive, Emir class all inclusive and Sultan class all inclusive. This variety is meant to allow guests to choose the package that best suits their preferences and their budget. Kindly note that there are four options of all inclusive service and the most popular of these is the Classic package (yellow bracelet) which most guests choose. This package compares favorably to most all inclusive package options in Sharm el Sheikh both in terms of value for money and what is included and it is designed to satisfy the greatest range of guests' preferences in terms of expectations and cost. As such it does not include cocktails using premium or imported spirits, freshly squeezed juices or imported fruits. (We would like to stress that these items are not included in the package in virtually all five star all inclusives in Sharm el Sheikh because their high cost would make the cost of the package expensive in a way which is considered not suitable for most travelers to Sharm el Sheikh). As your holiday was on the classic package the price you paid has been calculated not to include these items. However these items are available against additional charge for guests who wish to purchase them and alternatives such as a full cocktail list using local spirits (available at all bars), local fruits, and fruit juices made from concentrate are included.

While most guests express total satisfaction with the classic package, and many have stated that it is superior to other packages they have experienced in Egypt, the Sultan Gardens is keen to be able to provide for those guests who want a more encompassing all inclusive package and who's holiday budget allows for it. These guests have the option to book a holiday on the Emir or Sultan class all inclusive packages. Emir class (silver bracelet) guests for example have fresh fruit juices, all day ice cream and other benefits in their package while Sultan class guests have an ever more encompassing package. Detailed information on our all inclusive options is available on the front page of our official website and additional information may be requested from the resort via email of from Reception at the time of check in or at any point during your holiday.

At this time we would like to express our deepest regret and apologies for any lapse in service standard or speed of service that you experienced during your stay with us. Sultan Gardens Resort's ethos stresses the importance of achieving guest satisfaction through exceptionally high level service and we apologize that this was not the case over the course of your entire holiday experience. We will continue to stress the importance of this critical point while using your invaluable feedback as a reference.

Thank you again for choosing our resort. We all remain at your service and hope to host you again soon.

Just returned home from Sultan Gardens and could not have had a better time.
Sultan Gardens were waiting to pick us up at the airport for our transfer to the hotel despite our flight being delayed and consequentely late to arrive. As a result we were able to avoid the chaos of the airport.
Our room was lovely and kept immaculate by the cleaners, and despite the resort being large we found everything was nearby.
Most of our days were spent by the main pools where the entertainment programme was absolutely fantastic, my daughter loved the zumba and belly dance, whilst my son was at every water polo game on during our stay.
In fact, in my opinion it is the animation team who are the stars of this hotel, especially Tito and Moose, both of whom work incredibly hard and go out of their way to look after their guests and keep them happy. They could not have done more for us throughout our stay and were always smiling and uplifting.
The animation team are also around in the evenings coordinating the show and club nights which both of my children looked forward too all day, every day. They also get the younger children up on stage to dance after the show every night which is fantastic to watch and encourages friendships to form between the guests.
We also had henna tattoos applied by Mohammed, which are fantastic, he even topped them up for free before we left and they have been complimented by almost everyone we have come into contact with since arriving home.
The food was lovely also, especially the desserts on Egyptian night! The Casa Mia Italian restaurant was beautiful and one of the best Italians we have ever visited! The pasta as a a starter is a great idea, and the steak as a main course was perfectly cooked.
Thank you Sultan Gardens for everything, we are already talking about planning our 3rd return trip! See you soon!

Reviewed August 4, 2013

It has been well over a year (April 2012) since we visited but I've eventually got round to writing a review of one of the best holiday's we have ever had.

Having never travelled to Egypt before it was quite an experience on arrival at the airport, organised chaos doesn't even come close to describing your initial experience in the heat of Egypt, I won't spoil the surprise but it does set the tone for the trip, just learn to go with the flow and trust that it will all sort itself out in the wash.

We (eventually) got our transfer to the Sultan Gardens Resort but I don't think anyone was under the illusion we or any other set of travellers was actually on the correct coaches, but we got there and there was no real dramas, driving in Egypt is an experience of untold mystery, there are no rules, lights are only used to dazzle other drivers, spinning lights in the middle of the road, huge "potholes" that you could explore but the coach drivers know these like the back of their hands so you do feel safe, eventually.

When we booked in there was a nice glass of fruit juice and the staff were professional and polite, I wish I could say the same of some of the Egyptian guests and Russian tourists who were in the foyer, they appeared to be purposefully rude to the staff, which after meeting for a few hours, you realise is not necessary in the slightest.

The staff in the hotel, and the management, are absolutely fantastic; professional, hard-working, polite and when people reference the ubiquitous "waited on hand and foot" this resort springs to mind. The staff could not do more for you, exceptionally attentive and willing to spend personal time and attention with each guests. For breakfast and most meals our waiters were Azziz and another chap who's name escapes me just now (i do know his wife is Scottish), it was a pleasure to see them each day. They couldn't do more for us, glasses never ran empty, advice was always available, food was sought, shade provided, cutlery changed, glassware changed and always with a smile. The guys are the face of the hotel and what a spectacular job they made of it. My girlfriend and I speak fondly of every member of staff that we met, right down to our cleaner who couldn't have been a nicer guy.

As this holiday was for some much needed rest we spent most of our days just lounging at the quiet pool (massive thanks to Mohammed who hopefully is still keeping everyone entertained there, provided with towels and glasses full, great guy!) there were no distractions to take you away from the sun, book and, as a Scotsman, I'm ashamed to say glasses of water during the day, well.....until noon at least :)

We upgraded to the silver bands (can't remember the name may have been sultan class) which saved me (spending) money after midnight as I still liked to have a few drinks with other guests but most people have retired to bed, unless you and your company are going to be awake past midnight I'm not sure it's really worth it, unless of course you rely on broadband while you are away, then it does pay for itself. Obviously it depends on the people there at the time but not many people stay around when the bars/entertainment finishes for the evening.

All inclusive at the hotel was exceptionally good, the food was plentiful and the variety was great, I'm quite strange when it comes to buffet style eating but as all the stations are manned by cooks and you can see new food replacing (not adding to) older food you know that standards are high. It's egypt, you will get a stomach flu at some point, don't blame the food at the hotel! I don't know what it is with Watermelon but as soon as it is put out beside the rest of the plentiful fruits people start throwing elbows to get at it!
The local lager was tasty enough and not overly strong so you can quench a thirst with it, the other half enjoyed the King Tut cocktail and found the Gin to be to her liking (wonders will never cease)

There is a small bar near the quiet pool and above the gym\health spa that shows live football and other sports during the day, nice and quiet for the gathering of menfolk, there is also snooker/pool available.

Casa mia was nice enough and you will be glad of it for a change, the pizza's are tasty, if you like fish then the seafood pizza was a good 8 out of 10 for me (i'm fussy, 8 is a great score), you will not have enough room left for desert which is a shame as they looked amazing.

Eating and drinking becomes a chore at the resort, you stop measuring time, you just measure things out between eating sessions, this is not an insult but it's so easy to just slip into a Wall-E lifestyle, rise, eat, sunbathe, eat, health spa, eat, and put drink in between each step and you have not only a full belly but a fantastic holiday.

The health spa is expensive but worth it, the staff are excellent, as you would guess by now, and although forced into a few treatments to keep the misses happy I have to say I found them quite enjoyable, I was stupid enough to burn my legs and had a coconut and milk rub to help, wow, simply not words to describe how good this feels on sunburn! I'm convinced this helped the healing process (the ice helps). Make sure you haggle for the prices of your health spa treatments, don't do it in the health spa itself, spend a day on the beach and you will be approached by one of the staff who will talk you into trying out a treatment or two, you can save a fair amount of money this way.

The rooms were of very good standard and full sea view was a real pleasure to wake up to every morning, room service was used a couple of times just to enjoy a bit of privacy and this was a nice treat (and only cost pennies)

The entertainment wasn't really our thing but friends we met there, especially with children, really enjoyed the mix. We did enjoy the acrobat show that was on but never really got involved with anything else.

We would recommend the resort to anyone, 5 star Egyptian should not be confused with 5 star European, you would be mad to think there is a comparison so for people that find things to complain about it is simple, pay the extra hundreds/thousands of pounds to stay at a global 5 star chain, these are the only places that will make you happy. I have absolutely no complaints about the resort, it was beautiful, well kept, no bugs (seriously, not one) excellent atmosphere, plenty to see and do and HIGHLY recommended. Thank you to all staff and management.

PS. book a day trip to Cairo prior to visiting and if you can afford it also book for Alexandria, these are different reviews that I will write at some point but the absolute highlight of our trip!
