fabulous day but very very tiring !!! information overload !!! they pyramids and sphinx are amazing and well worth a visit also the mosque.... you are badgered by people selling things but just stick to yr guns and say so thanyou! you'll probably have to say it 3 times but they'll get the hint ! do not make eye contact or you've had it !!! lol... we chose to travel by plane to ciaro thinking it would be easyer and quicker.... but i suspect its debatable... people we spoke to who traveled by coach said it wasn't too bad as they were able to sleep on the coach as you travel for 6 hours but traveling by plane is only one hour, but, don't forget you've got airport waiting time !!!! if you book, book with travco, the sister company to thomsons and you will be garenteed a fully aircon decent bus !! as we were traveling via air we had to leave our hotel at 3am and were awake right through until we get home 9pm..... see the advantage of the coach now !... as on most excursions you'll need to take money as tipping is constant (though not obligatory) and extra's like entry to the pyramids, smock to wear in the mosque if yr a woman (only50p, worth it for the photo) ear sets for the museum, drinks and any other extra's are not included at tgi fridays for yr lunch, souvenires (let yr tour guild barter for you ! well worth it !!!) take a hat with you its VERY hot at the pyramids !!! cooling spray would be an advantage !! have a bottle of water at hand all day !!

This is what they call the Super Safari. You get to go on a Quad bike ride in the desert, then a camel ride, then the bedouin dinner and finally a Quad ride back. I've payed 55€ for me and my girlfriend (we've shared a quad).
Good things first: Dinner was good. Tasty food (but no napkins) and great performances: fire spitting and juggling, fakir show and so on. Notice that any beverage besides water and the welcome tea served before dinner is payed extra, as well as shisha pipes.
Camel ride was just ok. It's a little ride. Your behind will be thankful, though :)
Quad riding was a disappointment! First of all, don't expect to be in a loose sand desert. It's a more like gravel. And it's flat. Don't expect to see the slightest hill. Just a couple of bumps. The Quad bikes had been messed with to run slower (I've seen snails run faster) and stripped of gears and clutch. You'll drive it like a scooter. Some of them aren't in their best shape. In my group one had to be hot wired each time it was started started and another required a push start because the battery was flat. Speaking of group, you'll be riding with 10 to 15 quads and you must keep in line. There's one instructor is setting pace in front and another in the back. We were driving way too slow. Another group just passed right by us! Anyway... It was boring so I was trying to have some fun and begun making little power slides. They were very little because the bike didn't had the power to do them properly. Nevertheless I was told by the instructor that they were strictly forbidden.
Anyway, if you still decide to spend your money in this, try to pick one of the firs bikes from the line when you get there. You'll eat less dust. You'll be needing a scarf. Arafat ones are cool and they help you putting them in a way that it covers your head and mouth. Shorts, tshirt and sandals are ok. Expect them to be dusty when you leave, but not a big deal.
