Well what can I say except, what a gem of a company! My friend and I used Sharm Holiday Day tours to experience a day in Cairo from Sharm El Sheikh. We decided to opt for the private tour by plane (well worth the money in my opinion), and booked whilst still in the UK. I emailed the company before we went as I had a few questions, and the response was always very quick, providing all the information I needed.
Booking online was simple, and once we arrived at our hotel in Sharm we called the office and arranged to pay for our trip. The representative came to our hotel at a time agreed and was very friendly, professional, and gave us all the information we’d require.
On the day of the trip we were collected at our hotel at the time specified (5am), and taken to the airport for our flight, we found that although we had arranged the visa for Cairo that it was not correctly stamped, however (unlike others we met using other tour operators) Sharm Holiday told us what we had to do to fix this, and waited for everything to be sorted before leaving us to board the plane.
Arriving in Cairo we met with Yousef (our fantastic guide who looked after us so well, thanks Yousef!), from the airport we headed towards the Nile and the Museum as we had some time prior to the museum opening, so we were taken on a Felucca ride (a wooden boat) on the Nile. We then headed to the Egyptian Museum where we were given a tour and time to look at all the amazing artefacts. Yousef was so knowledgeable and entertaining, giving us lots of history and answering all our questions. We were given a little time on our own to wander the museum and visit the mummy rooms (which was at extra cost but we thought worth the money).
Leaving the Museum it was back to our own air-conditioned minivan & driver to be taken to TGI Fridays for a set lunch, the restaurant was on the river Nile with views of the river and city. After lunch we headed towards Giza and the Pyramids, wow what an experience we were extremely lucky and seemed to manage to avoid the crowds, we started up close and personal taking lots of photos and again being given lots of fascinating history and information, next heading off to a higher vantage point where you could see all three pyramids at once, before heading back to see the sphinx.
Our day was rounded off by trips to a perfume factory, where we had a glass blowing demonstration (they make their own bottles), and had the change to smell traditional scents, although we did buy some, we did not feel pressure to do so. Then it was off to the Papyrus institute, where again there was a demonstration on how this was made and an opportunity to buy if you wished.
Sadly it was then time head back to the airport and say goodbye to Yousef, and Cairo and the amazing time we had that has left us with memories that we will always treasure. I can’t recommend them highly enough. Thank you for making the day so special.
