“A perfect stay.”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

For several years attempting to book resort via "all-inclusive" package finally this year it became available via the dutch Touroperators.... Our stay was perfect, rooms very large very good beds compared to the other sonesta ( Club & Beach). This was our 4th stay in one of the Sonesta's in Sharm, and by far the best stay. 1 minor thing, in the brochure they mentioned that all swimming pools were heated ( needed at this time of the year!!!) only 1 appeared to be heated at the end, which made lots of guests come to this pool only. while the 2 others were empty.
Other than that no points to remark, we will be back probably in November again this year.

Just got back from a 10 day trip from egypt, we upgraded to le Royale.....worth every penny, ate in the Gondola restaurant for le royale guests only, the food was fantastic, very well prepared, we did try the citadel restaurant one night, not impressed, it was not the worst food I had eaten but we did prefer the Gondola much better quality and you could tell the difference. But its good to try the other restaurants, maybe we were just unlucky. The room we had was lovely overlooking the pool, we did have a problem with the mosquito spray, the smell was coming up through the vents in our bathroom and it smelt like petrol, but we were able to move to another room without any problems straight away, anything extra we needed for our room we got without any fuss, all of the staff were extremly helpful. All of the staff have a great sense of humour and a big thank you to you all........The only downside would be the beach, its too small for the complex, and you have to get up really early to beat the Russians!! which I must say I achieved on few occasions. Anthias diving is great too.. highly recommend...

Room Tip: pool facing rooms are very good....

Le Royale is a new small and exclusive luxury hotel nestled in beautifully manicured gardens.and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. The service here is absolutely outstanding from the resort manager and his team .
Rather than take the Tour operator bus on arrival at Sharm el Sheik, we had emailed the hotel and pre arranged a limousine to collect us for a very reasonable cost of £12.00 each way.(Still cheaper than tour bus and ensured a speedy and trouble free arrival at the hotel in time for dinner).
The rooms are gorgeous and ours had a kingsize bed with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool . You can choose smoking or non smoking and there are only 3 floors -with a lift! Again we had emailed the hotel with our request and were given exactly what we had asked for. There are no actual seaviews here as the hotel is low rise. Be careful with your mini bar as the contents are not included in your ' all-in ' and the WIFI is a little temperamental. Tea and coffee in your room is included (tray with kettle) and the air conditioning works really well.
Access to drinks 24hrs at the pool bar run by Meme (pronounce Mimi)and the range of drinks and snacks are of good quality. Plenty of FRESH juices Fanta Sprite diet Coke freshly made coffee and all the usual local spirits and draught beer freely offered with a cheerful smile.
Meals are taken at the private restaurant for Royale guests- le Gondola- which is accessed by a gentle 5minute walk along marble pathways and tropical gardens. The site is level and therefore is well suited to those of us who need to exercise more gently. You are able to enjoy your meals inside in the cool or outside on a pleasant balcony area with plenty of parasols and attentive staff. I found the food quite delicious, much better than I expected. You are sure to find something you you will like from the extensive range on offer. I always took a bottle of water with me from the restaurant and a little fruit, for my room to ensure I kept well hydrated at all times.
Another 5 minute walk will take you on to the beach which is a very busy area but again very good drink facilities at the bar for Royale guests and a private area is reserved for you at the beach if you prefer.
The Royale is adjacent to a sister hotel the Sonesta Beach and it is here you will find lots of activities and amenities, shops, internet café ,beauty and massage ,diving and so on You can also eat there but do bear in mind that this is only a four star facility -and there IS a difference in quality.
Overall I can only tell you that I had the most wonderful holiday with my husband ,met some nice people and had tears in my eyes when I had to leave. What can top that!
Travelled on a late deal Thomas Cook holiday returned 20 Jan2013 Tip- make sure you travel to right terminal on departure as there are two.

We checked trip advisor about this hotel and frankly were a little worried by the comments made! Imagine our pleasure when we found the rooms great and the cleanliness faultless. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times, the facilities a delight and the food more than acceptable. We were on a all inclusive basis and had to actually refuse the offers for drinks etc. I must mention the poolside bar where you could sample all sorts of cocktails spirits and beer along with croissants in the morning cakes later. The manager was a great guy from Cairo who was not only efficient but had a character and a smile at all times. Will I return or deal with sonesta hotels again yes five stars yes!

Room Tip: Go for the kingsize beds which are even more comfortable than my home one! Overlooking the pools is...

Having read previous reviews, I was slightly anxious about staying at this hotel (in January 2013).However the hotel, pools and gardens were beautiful. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The Bellagio room we had was fantastic.Food was a bit less impressive, although plentiful and with lots of choice available. The Gondola restaurant was the best choice. The Dome was poor and Casablanca was little better. Overall the food was OK but not really 5 star quality, more like 4.Cleanliness was good throughout, and management seemed to be trying to respond to previous criticism by targetting guests and listening to their comments for improvements needed.A nice young Russian lady has recently been employed to drive improvement. We would stay here again though and hope that Olga's improvement plan delivers!

Room Tip: Bellagio rooms have access to their own pool and are beautiful.

I stayed at Royale for the New Year Eve and one week after with my partner. The hotel is beautiful, rooms very nice, beds very comfortable. The restaurant is placed at The Sonesta Beach and is max 3*, Not much choice, not tasty, there was no fruits; they really concentrate on sweets, very disappointed:( Staff was rude at times, spoke to clients in arabic if they did not like something; on one occasion they were asked not to do that. Moreover, you have to wait for the tables at the restaurant because the staff is constantly short; plus they work 12-14 houres a day so do not blame those people of being tired. I left my scarf by the bar, we were the last clients staying by the bar that night, it was around 1am and never got it back, despite asking the staff for it. If you want bottled bear or fresh juice you will be ask to pay for it-what is the point of all inclusive then. We paid a lot of money for that holiday and we think the service was not that good. The internet is extremely slow and it will cost You 45-50£ a week, bottle of Johnny Walker on the bar 250£. We met a lot of Russians they pay half less that we do from England. Shame on You Thomas Cook. What I would like to emphasize, it was our 4th time in Sharm and we are not difficult clients to deal with but we do expect the service if we pay for it.

We actually stayed in le royal sonesta what can i say ,when we arrived 3 adults they gave us 1 bed told us we could all sleep together hope they were having a joke it took two hour to get a better room, not what i expect from a five star hotel,we were then told we had to eat in the sonesta 4 star special dinning room it was rubbish we had the same food no fruit inthe morning it had all gone by 9am.The juices were disgusting so watery the lunch was the same every day I even found an insect in the yellow lettuce (it might of tasted Better). The evening meal was cold meat horrible and pasta warm.I am in the catering business and if i gave that to my clients i would have been out of a job.we were all inclusive and had a bar at the royale which served snakes but we had to pay for them (dont get me wrong i throught all inclusive meant all meals)
and wine we had to pay for.Russians everywere .I did go down with a stomach bug and spent to days in bed .This hotel was not good and spolit it for us NOT AGAIN

Dear alyson n,

Let me first assure you that we always welcome our guest feedback because that is how we grow up , I did investigate the matter with the front office manager and below are some points to clear the situation :
- You were booked through Thomas cook travel and nothing in the voucher they send to the hotel mentioned you needed 2 separate beds not a large bed ( that was mentionned in the voucher they gave you only ) , when you went to reception they changed the room as per your request and this took 15 minutes till they clean and prepare it for you .
- As for the all inclusive , the drinks and the food are included but the bottle of wine you consumed during the new year's eve had to be paid as it is not included in the all inclusive formula .
I hope this cleared the matter and please accept our apology if we did not meet your expectations and give us the chance to host you again for a better experience at our resort
