Coral Sea Waterworld Resort
Ranked #54 of 231 Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh
Reviewed April 9, 2013

We stayed last year as a family of four and it was an amazing holiday...
Good points:
Clean room (tidied everyday)
Plenty of clothing space
Nice bathroom
Amazing rooms (Beds not perfect the double beds are really hard and uncomfortable childrens bed are better)
Clean pool and has different levels of water for different swimming abilities/heightLovely beach (Tide often out but water sometimes boiling but you can walk out really far worth snorkling because all of the colourful fish are around the coral all day and you can usually touch the bottom from the bottom of the pier so you dont have to be worried about a sudden drop sometimes tide is in further)
You can always get a sun bed if your happy to go to the beach if there isnt any round the pool
Sunshine all day (Very high tempratures up to 50 degrees in middle of summer)
Amazing staff all polite especially on the beach
Food is okay if you are up to trying different things breakfast: you can get fried eggs or make toast or some cereal and other dishes Lunch:The mermaid serves fish, burgers and other food and is the main restraunt for lunch Evening: You can go to the al carte which serves delicous food or the main restraunt has a variety of dishes for all eater unless they are extremely fussy
Drinks are just what you need to cool you down and cocktails are delicous but they serve the usual fanta coke and lemonade
Bad points (not many):
Some waiters want tip money and can sometimes ask for a tip
Can get burnt easily if sun cream isnt topped up in the day
If you are terrified or lizzards then just be warned they are around but its only like us having a spider and the lizzard are only 3cm's long they are tiny
Not much entertainment on a night just the same shows and not many seats in the entertainement bar so you are often stood up
Outside the hotel:
Plenty of bars
Some bars have free wi-fi so if you take a laptop or IPAD its free to use and some have computures for you to use in there
Food: There is a Burger king across the road from the hotel or other food restraunts a 2 minute walk up the road from the hotel such as McDonalds,KFC,TGI Fridays and a chinese restraunt if you want a little taste of home
If you walk down the hotels entrance and turn left and the walk along there and look to your left you will see a supermarket which you can get anything you want for a really cheap price they sell crisps lower prices than here Chocolate bars such as mars or cadbury bars cheaper than here. I spent 21 egyptian pounds one night and i got a bag of crisps 2 chocolate bars 2 litre bottles of coke and fanta to keep in the rooms fridge for over the rest of the holiday and a bag o sweet and the 21 egyptian pounds changed into english pounds is £2.10 so its is really cheap
Trips: On the beach there is a trip booth on the hotels next door (to your right) beach which you can use and we went quad biking for 4 people on 3 quad bikes in the desert for £40 which is cheaper than paying with your airlines company or the hotel and it was perfectly safe and it was about 1 hour 45 minutes and you saw all the mountains and it was beautiful so it is a perfect trip.
Hope this helped and enjoy your holiday if you go.... :)

Having been to the Csr 13 times and twice already this year we thought we'd go for the 3rd time for Christmas.......we left Christmas eve and got to Egypt at 9pm and we missed the Christmas gala meal as they have it Christmas eve instead of Christmas day.........the hotel was being refurbished there was a little nose but nothing to annoy myself or my family......BUT THE FOOD.......this wasn't as good as all the other years we have been there...the food has always been fantastic there ,a good selection of choice, but that wasn't the case......the food to me has slowly been turning international and we struggled to eat some nights(you wouldn't starve)but it wasn't up to standard I don't think ,everything had beans in them( the English flavour has gone IE chicken pie and cottage pie and good dinners like this) ,everything was international plus they started doing burgers for breakfast!!!!!!!BUT on the other hand the STAFF was amazing as usuall(well there not staff to us anymore there FRIENDS)but there all amazing at there job!!!!! Music is loud around the pool and there are loads of teens going there now as it is a place to party....you have hard rock cafe just popened up outside the hotel which ia a club at night, also you have SPACE NIGHTCLUB and a few more!!!! But we still had an amazing time at our second home CORAL SEA RESORT...(age 40,40,23)

My family and I have just returned home from a weeks stay at The Coral Sea Resort Sharm El Shiekh and we all had a truly wonderful time. Although I have visited Egypt a couple of times before my husband, son and daughter had not and I was so pleased that their first holiday in Egypt was made so memorable. On arrival we were a little concerned about the on going building work to upgrade and build the water park but I can honestly say it did not affect our stay at this hotel at all. If like us you are up and out of your room enjoying the excursions and very clean beach and facilities by 8am and not returning until early afternoon then you don't even notice the building work. I have got to say that the staff made our stay extra special, they were extremely helpful and the waiting staff were highly efficient and good humoured. The food was the best I have experienced in Egypt and the hygiene was kept to a high standard, none of us experienced upset tummies and I didn't hear of anyone else who had. The Italian and Indian a la carte restaurants were also superb with the Mermaid Bar having a wonderful view across the Red Sea at sunset.
I highly recommend booking the scuba diving and snorkelling with Mohammed at the Aquarius water sports as all the staff are fully qualified and helpful and its a truly amazing experience to do the Red Sea boat trip for a day.
I can not comment on the entertainment in Finley's Bar as we did not attend at all during our 7 night stay as it isn't our 'cup of tea' but it did seemed very busy. Also remember to pack insect repellent as in the evenings the mosquitos come out, having said that, the hotel do spray through the gardens ever night. We preferred to sit and watch the sunset and visit the Shisha tent where the wonderful Ahmed and Titto made us Egyptian tea and made us feel very welcome.
If you are looking for a holiday with daily guaranteed sunshine, a hotel with great staff and delicious food and where you can dip your toes into the Red Sea with colourful fish all around you and lay on a clean beach, then this is the place to go. We are going back again in the summer, this time for a fortnight! :)

Stayed at this hotel on 6/02/13 for a week with my husband and my son who has special needs. We we were alocated a room and had problems finding it due to all the building work, the coridor wea sealed off, so had to go back to reception to ask could somebody show us, the bell boy took us the same way and was suprised that the coridor was sealed off, so had to go upstairs, downstairs and finally got to our room. I decided that i was going to have a little nap before going to eat and my husband went to search for some bottles of water, as they charge you for the ones in the mini bar. The next thing i knew was my husband shouting at me to get up as there were bugs all over the bed and me!!!!!! They were all over the bed, i thought i was going to faint at that point, he phoned through to reception who said they would send someone, the manager came and took one look and told us to get out of the room and we would be found another room. We were upgraded and all seemed fine.We had to fill a form with FC and were told that they were sorry and all the bedding and mattresses from that room had been burnt. On our last day we found the same kind of bug in the bathroom, my husband put it in a glass coverd it and took it to a member of staff that he had made friends with, the look on his face said it all," very dangerous bug,if it gets under your skin it can kill you", my husband then took the glass up to reception to show the manager and his face turned green, he wanted to keep it all hush, hush, more men were sent to the room and pulled the bed apart but no more were found. I cant begin to imagine what would of happened if my husband had not turned up when he did, and the hotel does not seem to care, have e mailed one of the managers after he gave us his card and were told that we could have a free week there once all the work had been done and the new water park built, but now we are back home, and dont have anything down on black and white, they dont want to know, he says we misunderstood him, he wants us to book through FC, pay the full price and then be upgraded. I would not stay at this hotel again even if it was for free. It has taken me all this time to write this review as it still gives me flash backs to that bed and those bugs, who were by the way full of blood and we do have photos and video of them. Please think twice about booking this hotel, i would not like to think that somebody else has to face the experiance as i did.

Myself and my partner (44) have just returned from our first holiday to Egypt. I understand previous people's comments about the building work being undertaken at the hotel and although it didn't really affect us I can fully appreciate why some people have been upset, however I can say hand on heart that apart from the building work we had a really good time at this hotel.
I cannot speak highly enough about the wonderful staff here, from the management to the cleaning staff, we were treated like royalty. All of the staff were pleasant, helpful, funny and could not do enough to ensure that we had a good time.
The food was the best I have ever had on an all inclusive basis (a different theme every night and served hot too!). I was very pleased to note that the hand sanitisers at the entrance to the restaurant were used by all staff and guests. The waiting staff wore gloves and the cleanliness was excellent. I was not aware of anyone suffering dodgy tummies during our stay, which was something that did worry me prior to our trip. At our table we didn't even have to ask for drinks as the waiting staff would see our glasses empty and bring more over ... the tequilla sunrise is delicious lol! Those guys work so hard to clear the tables, they never stop still.
I recomened the spa for a scrub and massage, it is a little expensive but worth it to start your holiday off.
The snorkelling / diving is unbelievable! Make sure you have an underwater camera!
My partner competed his PADI diving certificate while we were there, a word of warning, if you are thinking of doing this, do it at the start of your holiday as my partner would have liked to do his open water cert too but ran out of time. The staff at the Aquarius diving centre on site are briliant and certainly know their job, I was too scared to go scuba diving and they were great at supporting me while I did a snorkell off the boat, I was such a wimp and they were lovely. I am grateful they did as I wouldn't have missed it for the world, it is amazing to see such beautiful fish and so close you can touch them. We are hoping to go back next year and I will definately be going to see these guys as soon as I am there so I can complete my PADI too.
The Quads and sand buggies are a must! Try to do the afternoon ones as you will see the lovely sunset over the mountains before heading back, once again the staff were really nice guys and fun too :-)
Soho Square is a pleasant place to go in the evening, a no hassle shopping area with some lovely bars ... don't bother paying £17.50 to go in the ice bar ... you may as well just walk into a freezer! definately not worth the money!

I do have a couple of negatives to add ... you have to pay for wifi which is slow and often you lose connection so the alternative is to go over the road to the Bus stop bar and pay for a few drinks and use their free wifi...as it turned out we were there quite a few nights as sadly the animation team and evening entertainment in our hotel was dire! Apparently the team were being moved and a new one taking over so we were unfortunate. I know I'm in my forties but I did not want to sit in the bar of an evening and play bingo or quizzes and listen to 50's music. This really needs to be addressed as in our opinion it was the only thing that let the hotel down. I really hope the new team will be an improvement! (I did give this feedback to the hotel guest relations lady).
Apart from that I can honestly say I would not hesitate to go back to this hotel purely for the way the staff look after you, the hotel and gardens are very well kept and the beach is clean. Maybe one day we'll have a name plate on one of the palms :-) Thanks guys for a lovely holiday xxxx

Just got home from a 2 week stay here travelling as a young couple,
The hotel it's self is gorgeous, very grand and very clean, the referb is going on in about half the hotel so it is hard to avoid and they do work from sunrise to sunset this is a little annoying but never really disturbed us.
The food is the only thing that really let it down for us, burgers where served at breakfast rather than dinner, however they do theme nights so one night is Chinese, then Italian ect so always something and always fresh pasta and pizza made in front of you. on our 10th night my partner was asked not to wear shorts for evening meal which we found odd as he had been wearing shorts every night before hand, and others had on shorts too, we found other guests had been asked this too, ones that had stayed before and never been asked this before, he carried on wearing shorts as he only had one pair of trousers with him and nothing was said,
The entertainment team changed during our 2 weeks, the first lot where great and always up for a laugh and a bit of fun, didn't see much of the second team so can't really comment, not much to do in the hotel past 10pm.
There are a couple of restaurants/bars just outside the hotel if you can handle the hassle "wanna touch my camel" and so on.....
I would recommend this hotel and would go again :)

We have been to this hotel six times and have a named palm tree to show this, but this was definitely our worst experience. Why did Thomsons FAIL TO ADVISE US of the extensive and intrusive building work (rather than lie and say...some building work). We booked in advance and paid for a select ground floor room (being partially sighted) with sea view and got what seemed to be a standard room on the top floor. We had to stand up on the small balcony to get the pleasure of any sea view. We had to navigate through rubble, building materials, trailing electrical wires and dust to get to and from the room and experienced building noise from 7am until 8pm every day regardless of where we were on site. The balcony was festooned with building waste such as paper, plastic and cardboard etc on a regular basis. Health and safety was definitley not respected. We agree with others about the poor conditions and we did complain ..we got a late check out but were locked out of the room by noon!!! We asked for the stairs to be cleaned of rubble and dust and this happened just once - then we had a daily struggle through the mess. Yes, floors were ripped up, rooms gutted and refurbished but we tolerated this for our two weeks. Guess the work will not be finished by May 1st which is the completion date.
The bathroom left much to be desired - toilet roll holder fell off, no shampoo or soap on the first day , hair dryer held together with tape and connection broke so it stopped working. However, some bathroom maintenance took place on two days when we were there but out of the room; the fruit expected with the select room only materialesd after 24 hours, DVD and TV had to be seen by engineers three times, lights had to be mended.... and so it goes on....Evening meal dress code was not adhered to - the standard has really slipped and guests turned up in very short shorts, vests exposing tattoos which contravened the code on the dining room door . This is a great shame for what is supposed to be a four star hotel - lets keep up the standards, please, Coral Sea.
However, all hotel staff were super, food good with plenty of variety and the sun shone every day. Just wish a couple of the Thomson staff could have been more supportive of guests rather than being complacent when we very politely complained - not good gueat relations on this occasion, but we should have gone to see Julie instead.
Our great selection of photgraphs to support these comments are currently being processed at the moment - we have not exaggerated the conditions in any way.
You have been warned!
