“Coral sea resort - March 22nd to April 5th, by Michael and Jill, Warwick”

We have been to this hotel six times and have a named palm tree to show this, but this was definitely our worst experience. Why did Thomsons FAIL TO ADVISE US of the extensive and intrusive building work (rather than lie and say...some building work). We booked in advance and paid for a select ground floor room (being partially sighted) with sea view and got what seemed to be a standard room on the top floor. We had to stand up on the small balcony to get the pleasure of any sea view. We had to navigate through rubble, building materials, trailing electrical wires and dust to get to and from the room and experienced building noise from 7am until 8pm every day regardless of where we were on site. The balcony was festooned with building waste such as paper, plastic and cardboard etc on a regular basis. Health and safety was definitley not respected. We agree with others about the poor conditions and we did complain ..we got a late check out but were locked out of the room by noon!!! We asked for the stairs to be cleaned of rubble and dust and this happened just once - then we had a daily struggle through the mess. Yes, floors were ripped up, rooms gutted and refurbished but we tolerated this for our two weeks. Guess the work will not be finished by May 1st which is the completion date.
The bathroom left much to be desired - toilet roll holder fell off, no shampoo or soap on the first day , hair dryer held together with tape and connection broke so it stopped working. However, some bathroom maintenance took place on two days when we were there but out of the room; the fruit expected with the select room only materialesd after 24 hours, DVD and TV had to be seen by engineers three times, lights had to be mended.... and so it goes on....Evening meal dress code was not adhered to - the standard has really slipped and guests turned up in very short shorts, vests exposing tattoos which contravened the code on the dining room door . This is a great shame for what is supposed to be a four star hotel - lets keep up the standards, please, Coral Sea.
However, all hotel staff were super, food good with plenty of variety and the sun shone every day. Just wish a couple of the Thomson staff could have been more supportive of guests rather than being complacent when we very politely complained - not good gueat relations on this occasion, but we should have gone to see Julie instead.
Our great selection of photgraphs to support these comments are currently being processed at the moment - we have not exaggerated the conditions in any way.
You have been warned!

Having never travelled this far by plane - 5.5 hours and my hubby hates flying - we were pleasantly surprised how quickly the flight went arrived at 18.30pm Egypt time to find the temp. was 29% that was on the 28th Feb 2013!
Quick transfer 30 mins after dropping off others to various hotels. Fast check in and taken to our room which was very comfortable, lovely firm beds, spacious with nice bathroom and a balcony. Room was cleaned and beds made every day and towels changed daily.
Plenty of variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner - themed evenings menu's whereby waiters (who were great) dressed in theme of the evening. Anyone who says there isn't enough choice must be mad as there is a healthy eating section, choice of fish, meat, salads, vegetarians are catered for you only have to ask.
Everywhere was kept spotlessly clean the staff work very long days but are always happy and pleasant.
One pool is heated and the other isn't but was always above 32 degrees whilst we were there that the colder pool was lovely.
The gardens are beautiful, cross the path and you are on the beach, which is a bit gritty and not like the sand we are used to but the water was so clear and warm, walk out on the jetty's that are spaced along the front and you can see beautiful fish of all colours at certain jetty's you can go in and snorkel - I got some fab pics.
Yes there was building works going on but we were told about this before we booked. To be fair the builders didn't start before 9am and finished by approx 5pm when we were not in the room anyway, so it didn't really bother us at all. If you book and you have been advised about this you have to accept it. They are in the process of building a new water park with slides which we saw develop very quickly in the two weeks we were there - they certainly work very hard but don't believe in health and safety at work!!!
We would highly recommend this hotel as it was clean, very friendly and reasonably priced. We will be going back next year.
On a down side, I didn't like the shops in Sharm and only because they were trying to drag you into them even when you said no - was glad I had my hubby with me!! The shops in the hotel complex have almost everything you could want and they don't push you into buying!

This review will seem negitive because the hotel was having MAJOR refurbishments that First Choice had totally misled us about if you are booned to go between now and the end of may it WILL be a BUILDING SITE, we had been told it was minor refurbishment of rooms HA HA very funny it was a building site they are building a water park and rooms are being knocked about to accomodate more familys there will also be around 300 new apartments built at the front and more at the side with another bar etc. This really was not what we expected as it was dusty and dirty outside. I am taking this up with FC. However the weather was fab and the staff at the bar and resturants very friendly and helpful. The foor the first week was great but after a week it all gets a bit samey but you could usually find something to eat.
We booked trips with FALCON ADVENTURES. Which was out of the hotel and turn left walk about 5 min past Hard Rock Cafe Great service great people and super trips much better prices than from the reps.....dont worry about using them they are safe and really look after you. We went Star gazing with the Bedouins, Red Sea cruise with snorkling, the got to do old market trip to haggle for bargins, Soho Square (dont go to the Ice Bar it is a rip off) £17.50 to stand in a freezer lorry and have a bottle of beer. Speed Boat trip to the island and ship wreck and sand buggy trip (so good we did it twice)
I loved Sharm El Shaike and the Coral Sea resort could have been good without the building work

March is an excellent time to go to this resort.it is in the 80's with a lovely cooling breeze. The hotel itself was undergoing refurbishment which it probably needed to bring the interior decor up to standard. The gardens are beautifully kept and the two pools are a joy.The beach is always clean and the water is totally safe for children. This is our second time here and it was as good this time as before. The place is all inclusive and the food as absolutely superb, there is always something available that you will like and if not the are always huge selection of salads and pastas and the sweets in the evening are to die for.The staff at this hotel cannot do enough for the Brits as they love them to come to their country, they are always polite and love to try to learn the language.Later this year a new water park is opening and obviously they are looking to take more families but I hope they don't over do this and forget all the previous " older couples" who have been going to this hotel for many years.

Found the coral sea resort to be excellent value for money. Upon arrival after a very short transfer, check-in was quick and straightforward. We were shown to our room which was a good size with a balcony overlooking swimming pool and sea beyond. The bathroom was perfectly adequate and I was pleased with the performance of the shower ..... Some Hotels have slow water flow and hot water that doesn't last long enough but this one was great!

It's a large Hotel, therefore our room was quite a way from the main facilities, that would be the only thing if I returned there (which is quite likely), I'd request a room a bit closer next time.
There were plenty of sun beds around the pool area and as is usual, the staff were always keen to prepare your towels on the bed of your choice, a nice touch!
We really enjoyed the beach this time, would normally stay around the pool but found the sea breeze kept us more comfortable in the heat, the sand seemed to be very compact and therefore it wasn't blowing around all over the place. It's highly amusing to see the Egyptians wearing their fleeces with their hoods up in 35degrees, to them it's chilly as its their winter now!

The food I would say was absolutely fine, I get sick of hearing how people always remark how repetitive the food is when they go on holiday, there's always a good choice, everyone can find something they like, can these people honestly say they have a different menu for 14 consecutive days when they're at home? I know when I'm food shopping, people often say to each other "what shall we have for a change?"
We had a couple of massages while we were there and I must say they were very professional and made you feel fantastic afterwards.

All in all we had a lovely sunny relaxing week and the one thing that we noticed about the Coral Sea Resort was there were mainly English people, this being our 6th visit to Sharm and the first time a Hotel wasn't over-run by those terribly polite people known as Russians !!!

Room Tip: Just ask for one close to the main facilities, as it can be a bit of a hike of an evening when it...

Stayed here in january with my husband for a relaxing week in the sun and that was exactly what we got! After a smooth check in and a very much appreciated cold drink on arrival , we were shown to our room on the second floor overlooking the pool area, lovely and clean and close to all amenities.
Spent most of our days at the beach, Ahmed at the beach bar is a real character, always smiling, constantly bringing fresh drinks for everyone..THANKYOU.

Food in the main restaurant was lovely, plenty of choice some of the best we've had in egypt, thankyou to all staff especially Karam, mohamed,Yasser and Alla. never bothered using the al acarte's so can't comment on them, spoke to ppl who said they were really good but you had to pay for your drinks. The white wine is lovely and the cocktails are not bad either!!

Entertainment is low key in egypt, but animation team work really hard tying to get ppl involved in the activities, but still have time for a chat with us lazy people who are stuck to the sunloungers.

The shops, bars, supermarket etc are a short walk outside the hotel, yes you will be asked if you want a taxi or to go into shops to sign a visitors book, just politely say no thankyou and keep walking, be prepared to haggle for anything you want.

There is building work going on around the complex, but never bothered us,couldn't hear anything at the beach and always seemed to be finished by the time we were back in our room. Obviously creating a lot of dust but you can see the cleaners are constantly cleaning to try and keep on top of it.

Loved it so much went back in March with my sister who said she'd never go to Egypt after hearing lots of horror stories, but loved every minute of it.Didn't get hassled by the spa guys just a simple no on the first day was enough they just stopped to pass the time of day after that.
Already booked to go back in June can't waite...

Room Tip: Ask for room on the sunny side of the complex.
