Panorama Naama Heights
Ranked #128 of 231 Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh
Reviewed January 4, 2010

I have had a mixed feelings before going to Panorama due to reviews here that were so extreme from horrible to fantastic! Here is my review:
I have stayed at Panorama over New Years Eve with my 2 children. After initial problem - cancellation of my booking which I blame lowcostholidays for, not the hotel, the lowcost rep we all met at the arrival and hotels manager were great in sorting it all out for us and we managed to be where I booked. Staying calm and not getting angry is the best way as everyone is so friendly and all they want to do is help and make you fell welcome. Lots of people write in their reviews that it is a dirty hotel. From what I saw last week, this is not truth. The cleaners were busy all day long, even during the night! The communal areas were spotless, the doors, windows, floors, pool cleaned every day (and night) . The hotel could do with some air-freshener in the reception area as this is smoking area and especially UK travellers are probably not expecting this. As to the room cleaning....you read it many times here...tip a little and it does wonders. I can't complain a bit about the standard. It was always high. As to the food - we didnt starve! The food varied daily, it wasn't the same every day or prison leftovers as some write. I travel a lot around Europe and I could compare the quality of food to any 3* European standard hotels. Location - didnt see a problem, the hotel's free shuttle bus was always on time when we used it, takes you to the beach, naama bay, old market....no problem in getting around. There was always someone at the reception taking bookings for the bus or organizing taxis if needed. The hotel's beach is fantastic! Water aerobic, yoga, beach disco each time we went, lots of trips can be booked from there....
Aquapark at the hotel is also very good for both children and adults, although it is not open all day long. The pool wasn't used much as the water was very cold but children didnt mind that at all.
Other facilities we used - table tennis, pool tables, darts, air slammers...The condition of some is not excellent but seeing how some people were treating the equipment, I'm no longer surprised of its condition.
Being in Egypt first time, we didnt stay all the time at the resort, we went on few very good trips (jeep safari, cammel rides, beduine experience, submarine, local huge aquapark, snorkeling, ...) The hotel provides good standard breakfast box if you go on a early morning trip.
The guests at the hotel were from either Russia or UK and lets be fair no one can blame hotel for the behaviour of the guests (have to mention this as I read it here before), its hard to expect of the hotel to teach people the manners!
However, the staff at the hotel was really friendly, they all work really hard and very long hours to make your stay enjoyable.
To be friendly back, smile and talk to the staff makes a huge difference to them.
My advice is if you are not happy with something, just ask....don't scream and shout as this is not the ideal way to communicate anyway... They all will do their best!
I also have to mention it is worth every penny to have a pool view room, as it is awesome at night!
Remember it does not cost arm and the leg to stay at Panorama and so should be your expectations, also the star rating is different to Europe so check first to avoid any dissapointment.
Overall my kids loved it and if they are happy, Im happy too!
Happy holidays!
L.

Having tried to look at good and bad reviews we booked our stay from 26 Dec 2009 to 2 Jan 2010 as 'good and bad' is very much a matter of opinion!!

In order to give a constructive - the good!
- The rooms were fairly clean with towels and bedding changed daily.

Now for the bad!
- Cleaning staff were always friendly, although we did think it was a little strange that they seemed to want to inspect our room on several occasions within the first 24 hours of our stay. They knocked the door, and if it were not answered within 10 seconds they would come in anyway. Several times narrowly missing my fiancée in the shower.
- Food is the same every day. We have stayed at AI buffet style hotels before, and food is commonly the same from day to day, however, when buffets have more selection this isn't a problem. The problem here is that for breakfast or dinner there is simply not the variety to give you the option to 'have a change'. Breakfast is french toast and beef sausage or stale breads and pastries and dinner is rice with meat and tomatoes with the added luxury of fish which has more bone than meat.
- Drinks from the bars are fine, as long as they have alcohol in them - this means you can have a conventionally sized glass. If, however, you want a soft drink or juice at breakfast they insist on using thimble sized glasses.
- Finding a table at dinner was only once a problem, however, the task of managing to get a knife and fork was becoming a twice daily problem.
- Catering staff were generally useless as they would see you struggle to open the door leading to the patio and seem to think that watching you is acceptable!
- Reception and transport staff are varied. The chap that we booked the taxi with each time was very nice and helpful. On several occasions we experienced problems with the shuttle bus due to people pushing to get on. We, each day, booked the shuttle to the beach at 10am and returned at 4.15pm, logic would tell you that the bus has around 25 seats, therefore I would have thought 25 tickets would be booked. Although one day, having not felt we should have to push in having booked our place, we were left without a seat. After having asked to driver to refer to my fiancée by name and not "oi", plus a Russian guest who felt it necessary to shout at her also (after pointing out that there no seats available - he did shut up!!!!). On returning to the hotel I did have strong words with the staff at reception, with the response being that some guests like to extend their stay at the beach after the time they have booked - which to me renders the ticket system pointless. After our discussion, tickets did seem to be checked in more detail. The evening shuttle was eventful, dropping and picking us up outside the front of the Jollie Ville Conference Centre - which if you are not watching can be very very dangerous due to being absolute chaos with taxis and locals trying to coax you into their shops after crossing you over the road. Our advice is to pay the extra to get a taxi or the friendly taxi service at the hotel.

In summary, we would suggest invest extra money into escaping both by using the taxi service and by treating yourself to a couple of meals out. The hotel cannot be blamed for the rudeness of the Russian guests, but they can for not adequately controlling them with their parties lasting through the night and breakfast being ruined by the sound of their loud music and shouting. Their apparent lack of manners also tarnished our stay, with simple common courtesy of holding doors open and acknowledging the same when we did for them.

I have included praise where praise is due, but in general - what a mess!!!! The hotel has the potential of providing a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of hotels nearer the strip, but is severely let down by the managerial staff!!

Many other travellers have expressed strong dislike for this hotel, however I found the trip quite pleasant. I travelled with my roommate we had a fair size room with a pool view. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by the friendly front desk gentleman John, who was very helpful during the entire stay. The room was cleaned daily, fresh towels left by the very friendly staff. No detail was too small, various animals made with towels daily. The pool bar was constantly open and the bartenders were very attentive and would bring drinks without having to be asked. Because of the time of year the entertainment was limited. The majority of the guests staying at the hotel were of Russian descent, who were loud and forward (to say the least). The food was not spectacular but kept you from going hungry items such as chicken, rice, pasta and potatoes were on the menu each night. Pool was cleaned every night and up to a high standard. The shuttle to the beach was frequently available. On the beach you could find people who sold trips to Cairo and Luxor for a good price. The value for money was very good, you get what you pay for and since we booked with lowcostholidays.com we received a hotel that was equivalent to that. Overall it was a positive experience, and a cheap getaway.

Our first room was filthy, got moved the next day to a new room with the curtains in a heap on the bedside table. took them 3 days to hang the curtains. The grout in the walk in shower was disgusting, has nobody heard of bleach in Egypt? The lounge bar was more like a students union bar some new bar stools which were a bit uncomfortable but the sofas were really old and dirty and needed to be binned along with the disgusting carpet.
The pool area was lovely, plenty of sunbeds, plenty of towels, shame the pool wasn't heated like in some hotels but in the summer the pool & the aqua park will be wonderful if you have kids but there is very little else here for kids.
The 'animation team' consisted of one guy who just seemed to turn the music on, money for old rope or what.
I certainly wouldn't return to this hotel, the only thing that would take me back to Sharm is the weather!

Dreadful food, same at every mealtime and always cold. Dirty shower curtain which when changed left us for 24 hours without a shower curtain! Complained but our rep did nothing about it. Had a darts board but only two darts one of which was broken! Not allowed to take drinks from one area to another and the local spirits were the worst available according to another holidaymaker. Have been to Egypt twice before to a different resort (Dreams Beach and Dreams Vacation which were lovely places) so very disappointed with this resort. However the pool area was lovely and the weather was brilliant. Hardrock cafe provided reasonable priced meals which we went for despite being all inclusive.

i went in a trip with my family and my little kids for vacation that lasted 3 days (thank god it was only 3 days) first they gave us room with 2 beds that doesnt exceed 70 cm wide so we had to quarel in order to have rooms with the new decoration that they put on their web site wich was not so bad like the first one (no lucury at all) also we knew that it isnt a 4 stars hotel it is only 3 stars moreover (all inclusive option) there is so weak as the food was not good but could be eaten (chicken is good). Concerning the animation team, there is only 2 persons & (chris, the english guy) is so rude specialy with children. Poor entertainment program. Ohhh what can i say!!!! Actually, i went to Sharm Elshikh for several times, i enjoyed so much the weather and places i went before. Do not hesitate to visit sharm but not this hotel.
