Panorama Naama Heights
Ranked #123 of 231 Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh

This hotel is very good value for money. We stayed for 10 days and only paid £580pp, including flights and transfers. For this you get a decent room, tasty food, all your drinks until 11.00pm and daily transport to the Naama Bay and back. It is a little tired and could do with some TLC here and there but, while we were there, it was obvious the hotel was trying to step up their game. They made quite a few improvements and additions. If these improvements are ongoing, then good for them and for anyone staying there from now on.

The Staff are very friendly and are always happy to help, even if getting your message across can sometimes be difficult. The shuttle bus to Naama Bay of an evening is an interesting experience but book it early in the day so you get the time you want.

Mohammed in the Pool Bar is a cheery guy and the odd tip here and there ensures a little extra attention. This will get you a decent plastic glass for your drinks instead of the “coffee machine type cups”, the ignorant and arrogant Russians are given.

Ahmed, the “towel guy”, will also look after you and always has a smile pleasant greeting for the British “tippers”. Giving him £5.00Egyptian per bed per day (£0.60p) will ensure your beds are saved and that your towels are put out ready. No need for early rises to get a sun-bed before breakfast.

A small tip for the cleaner will also go a long way. They will clean the room pretty early, if you put the “Please clean my room” note out. You will also get a different “Towel Figure”, like an Origami swan or crocodile etc… daily.

This does sound like a tipping holiday, but the staff work 14 – 16 hours a day for very little wage. Anything you offer them is very much appreciated.

The restaurant can be crowded at 7.00pm for dinner, so expect to queue. You will need to go early if you are catching the shuttle bus but it is less busy later. The food is always hot and tasty and, though there may not be a great deal of choice, you can always find something to fill you up. The fruit and Salad is plentiful and varied, with a wide range of breads too.

The “Animation Team” try their best but the pattern is a little repetitive, with a version of Yoga, Water Aerobics and Water Polo (a chance to get one up in the Pesky Ruskies) every day. They do try and get you involved in the evening activities by the pool bar and, on the whole, make a decent job of it all.

The only down side are the Russians! They will push in at the bar and in the restaurant and will try to hog the tables, and food, at all meal times. There are almost as many flies from the nearby tip but they have better manners. You will come to realise that the staff do not have much time for them either.

On the whole, this is a decent hotel and is good value for money. It is a little way out of the town but this is compensated by the shuttle bus. If you want Luxury, go for 5*+ but expect to pay much more.

Firstly, don't believe the bad reviews. The people who wrote them either went to a different hotel or are snobs that thought they could pay £400 odd for a fortnight and get Hilton standards.(the Hilton's way more expensive and not all-inclusive by the way). We stayed at a 5star last year, The Kiroseiz and OK the hotel overall was smarter but this was by far a better hotel. The people we're very friendly apart from a couple of Russians but that's to be expected, there was music round the pool and there was some sort of entertainment everynight at the pool bar which was suprisingly OK. We we're even given a free upgrade to a suite because we had 2 children and the room was massive with a kitchen and full size fridge freezer. The drinks we're better than the 5 star (Mohammad behind the bar made the holiday) and the food has recently been completely changed is pretty good. Not excellent but definitaly something for everyone everynight. The only main problem was the baths leaked and this seemed to happen to evryone. Just stick a towel by th ebath when showering and you'l be fine. This hotel was only taken over 6 months ago so all these problems will soon be ironed out anyway. We holiday'd with our 2 daughters aged 3 and 13 and my parents who are generally fussy and we all loved the place.

Can't recomend it high enough.

Firstly this hotel isn't as bad as they say all though i would rate it as a 3* not a 4,

The staff were very friendly, especially the bar staff! I had to complain about my room as the bathroom was flooding,we had no safe and had a view of a rubbish dump, after 5 days i wanted a pool view room as requested unfortunately it was ramadam and the hotel gave all the nice pool view rooms to the Egyptians, I then talked to the "big" boss and within an hour he had us moved into a lovely clean room by the pool. Even with the problem of the first room we were still really enjoying ourselves and when we moved it was excellent.

I highly recommend Quadbikes but ladies wear a sports Bra! we paid £12 for 2 hours - this was from the shopping centre in Naama Bay.

The main people who stay here are Brits, Russians and Egyptians,

The pool area is gorgeous, the food was good ( If you like McDonalds there are 2 and they are cheaper than at home and absolutely HUGE!). One day the chef was asking if anybody knew how to make yorkshire puddings one of the guests showed him and that night for dinner we had a Roast Dinner - Gorgeous! You can see that they are really trying to improve this hotel.

The weather was 34 degrees at 10.30p.m and would definately go back to Sharm purely for the weather, as much as i had a good time here i'm not sure if i would return to this hotel - as we kept saying it was good value for how much we paid :)

Just a quick note if your flying with Kiss Airlines and fly with Koral Blue - You can't buy anything on the plane so stock up on drinks in the airport as they give you 2 tiny beakers of pop and a meal all flight. there is also no inflight entertainment.

I wouldn't panic if you have booked this hotel we had a fantastic holiday - Its what you make it!!

Happy Holidays

x

After reading reviews I expected a bad experience, however I was presently surprised.

I have stayed in hotels across Africa before and this hotel is on a par with 3/4 star hotels in South Africa for example. Of course if you go expecting a UK 4 star quality hotel you will be disappointed. The food is repetitive but there is so much variety you can easily eat a different meal almost every night. The fact it is away from Naama bay has obvious disadvantages but also means it is quiet. I had a room amongst the building works and it didn't really affect us because they only work during the day.

Overall I think all the reviews show you what the hotel is really like - yes there are flies etc. but you are going to Egypt and so you should expect a little bit of the local experience.

Top advice - Taxi's you should never pay any more than 20 Egyptian Pounds (except the guy in reception will normally take 25 as he charges more), even to places like old market you should be able to get there/back for around 25. Although it is worth remembering you are bartering for 50p a lot of the time! Secondly to do your trips don't use the Rep's as they charge more than double the going rate e.g. we travelled to Cairo by bus for £30 rather than the £65 the low cost travel group tried to get us to pay. These companies are the same as any rep company; you can book these in lots of places in Naama Bay quite easily (we used RSM travel which were good quality).

If you want just a base to go and explore the area and further then this hotel is more than suitable. If you want to just sit around the hotel then I guess this is not the most perfect place for all.

The sheets / towels you need to keep reminding the cleaning staff to change (or at least we did) and some staff are rude, but so are a lot of Egyptians and also a lot of Eurpeans! Just be as rude back and they soon learn.

If you go with an open mind and just enjoy the banter and lack of manners (from the Egyptians and some others) with a pinch of salt you will enjoy it!

Stayed at this hotel from 13th Sept 09 till 27th Sept with my sister, both in our 50's. We were worried about all the bad reviews. Quick check in on arrival with a nice drink at 8pm, shown to our room. room 1217 over looking naama bay. Room seemed ok, asked for more pillows and a extra glasswhich we got straight away and then given a tour of the place. There are film channels in english on the room tv to watch which l found was a bonus.
We was there during ramadam, first few days the food l thought in the dining area was not very good however when the main chef returned a few days later food improved and he was always asking is there anyway he could improve things. Butter is only available in the morning but if you ask at lunch time or at evening meal for some they always brought it to your table. Alternative is to take some back to your room and keep it in the fridge. Swimming pool area is fab. Weather was red hot. always got a sunbed and a fresh towel.
staff were friendly, any problems with the room they was always happy to help. Bar men at the pool area were friendly when they got to know you, we were getting 4 drinks at a time. offputting is the plastic glasses but u get that at any all inclusive holiday. You could get drinks in a glass in the lobby bar. Entertainment at night consisted of belly dancers, magician, Mr and Mrs contests etc which are very funny. During the day there is water arobics, water polo and salsa dancing. On arrival you get a free bottle of water after that you either fill it up at the water fountain or buy it. the local supermarket is far cheaper which you can get to easy from the gate near the aqua park. The shops in the hotel are handy we haggled and reduced the prices. if you get the egytion tummy tablets in the shop are cheaper than the pharmacy. There is a bus that takes you to naama bay beach or naama bay at night, best time to go is 10am till 1am for the beach but be quick as everybody wants a bed in the shade. Food for children apart from chips, pitttza or chicken wings at lunch time around the pool l thought it was poor, as In the main dinning area there is nothing much for kids to eat as it is all beef or chicken, rice, roast potatoes, pasta, salads. breakfast there is cereal, porridge eggs hard boiled, fried, omellette, pancakes, toast which takes ages to do and much more but no full english. We had a really good time there and for what you pay it is worth it. An advantage is that it is not a large hotel so everybody gets to know people and have a good laugh. Would go back again maybe when its cooler.

I do not know why people complain or do bad reviews on this hotel. I stayed from 13th September to 27th September and got much more than I expected, after reading all the bad reviews and looked at what i now know is out dated photos i was pleasantly suprised and heaved a great sigh of relief, it may not be everyones idea of paradise but great value for money, you have to remember that much of the holiday cost goes onto the flight costs not the hotel. If you want to cut out the flight costs try the national newspaper voucher holidays with all the add on costs then i think you will find this is exceptional value for what you pay.
The hotel is a little distance and off the beaten track from naama, but all you have to do is book the shuttle bus into naama bay and its free.
The food is a little repentative being chicken and beef almost every night as the main course, but there is a lot of fish, salad, soup, rice, pasta etc and the cakes are plentifull if you like that thing.. no ice cream though in restaurant.. in fact i can not say i ever saw any ice cream apart from buying in the pool side bar area.
The lunch time pool snacks was actually cooked at the pool side bar.. mostly pizza . chips, chicken wings, small burgers with minimum salad.. you may have to queue and wait for the next lot to cook if you dont time it right, but you can always order a drink and chat while waiting,a great way to make new friends, they were building a new pool buffet area while i was there and is due to open sometime this week and they are upgrading all the serving hot plates which is coming from the main restaurant due to that having a full refit.
The aqua park now looks totally different from the photos posted and is open all day for swimming or sunbathing but there is not much shade there and you will fry, the slides work on 2 hours open and 2 hours closed, if your not sure on the opening times all you have to do is go in there and ask one of the staff how long till open.. they always say 2 hrs. The bar/snack area in the aqua park is almost completed it looks great made of sand stone all its waiting for is to be stocked and painted.
The entertainment consisted of.. Sunday night Belly Dancing/ Bedouin Dancer.. Wednesday Night African Dancers.. Friday night a Magician.. other nights the animation team did the Miss Hotel, Mr Hotel, Mr & Mrs Hotel.. great fun to watch and the music is very loud.
During the day time.. Mornings.. stretching aerobics followed by water/aqua aerobics which was fun.. Afternoons from 3.30pm male water polo and female salsa classes.. thats all the entertainment.. we saw nothing of the childrens entertainment..
There is a massage tent and you will get reps approaching you trying to get you to book one of their massages. EXPENSIVE. but you can get 10 mins for free if you ask.
The pool is cleaned daily do not listen to others who say it's not.. i made a point of looking and watching and each evening it was treated.
The hotel shops we found you can haggle/ barter with apart from the main one which sells suntan lotions/ gifts and snacks, they say its fixed price.. the other 3 shops we said oh its cheaper in the supermarket and walk away, we then started the bartering and always got what we wanted to pay.
I would go back to the same hotel if i ever decided to visit Egypt again on a low priced holiday.

Very quick check in, but not given any information on the hotel or resort at time of arrival. Had to ask other the other English guests for advice/tips.

The rep did not fill in the gaps or provide advice, but simply pushed the trips. Was not really interested in what we thought
of the room or the food.

Specifically stated that I wanted a proper bed for my four year old nephew, but was given a shabby sofa bed. The room was so small that it would have been impossible to put sofa bed up. Had to insist on another room, with single bed. It took over four hours for bed to arrive and a great deal of chasing. All of the english people we had spoken to had problems with their rooms, the majority had to swap and were not given enough beds. The second room we were given smelled of sewage, although cleaned every day, with fresh towels.

The hotel was really set up to cater for egyptians, they were given all the rooms facing the pool, where the english were left with views of car parks and rooms in the middle of the building works. All food was geared towards locals. Hotel had a lot of rude chav like russians, who had no manners, it was like a free for all at meal times with pushing and shoving. They even stole a chair from our table when we went to hunt for a plate. Fried beans, mashed potatoes, lettuce & chillis for breakfast, meat stews in the evening. Very difficult to please the children, so had to eat out a fair bit. Had a very upset tummy, still suffering 4 weeks later. Food available at the pool, however long waits for the chips/pizza (same every day).

Entertainment in the evenings limited, nothing through the day, as the animation team walked out . Aqua park was good for the kids, although not always manned and was open, for one hour every other hour. The other Pool was ok. Weather great during the stay. We were not given the voucher for the beach, so had to pay first time. Lots of egyptian young men taking photo's of girls getting changed, not pleasant at all.

Staff on the whole were friendly, although service was a bit hit and miss, Russians very pushy and downright rude, and as such tended to get served first.

The hotel was situated in the middle of nowhere, miles away from the beach. Would not go back to this hotel, ever.
