“Lovely Hotel shame about the food”

A great hotel for relaxing in the sun with lots of pools and lovely views, but is let down by it's food and service, which is not the fault of the waiting staff but the management not supplying the basic's for the staff to do their job. The pool bar didn't have enough glasses, if you got a glass you made sure you kept it otherwise you would have a long wait for a drink and when they did collect some they didn't clean them, just rinsed them under the tap, we reported this and told it would be sorted, but it wasn't. The food was very poor quality and made worse by being served cold or luke warm, at the grill we were given stone cold chips that were like cardboard, we told the waiter and he just told them away and didn't bring us any more, we reported this but nothing was done about it. At the Cliff restuarant we waited over an hour for some food and when we got it, it wasn't worth the wait, the chicken was just a lump of grissle. The A La Carte restuarants (need to get in qiuck to book as very limited) had a very limited choice or was not available and again the quality of food was terrible, the only one we found that was reasonable was the Tapas for dinner and panini's for lunch. We had upset tummies 3 times in 2 weeks and i was sick. The room are basic but not a problem as we only needed it to sleep in, but we did have to report our fridge not working 3 times and it took them 3 days to fix it. People that read this may think that we are just fussy and that is egypt, but we have been 7 times now to different hotels including Red Sea resorts in Hurghada (The Palace) and this hotel lets them down purely on their catering side, you can complain but nothing seems to be done about it, we can accept most things but we just had to say something.

Just got back from staying at The Grand what a fabulous time our 1st time in Egypt having read some of the reviews about this hotel we were not sure if this would be for us or not having arrived at the hotel it was lovely and from then on it just got better and better , we loved staying here and the staff were brilliant.
I would recommend the Grand Hotel the only down for me was not being able to walk from the beach to the sea the only way to get into the sea is via the jetty but having said that i would return,the food we found great always something that we liked.
Once again we would like to thank all the staff and a big big thank-you to the young man who cleaned our room he was FAB.

great hotel, we've enjoyed our holidays there a lot. it's not the first time in Egypt but first in Sharm el Sheikh, although we prefer Hurghada, but the hotel was better than those we've stayed before. the animation did a great job, everybody was so nice and cheerful, especially William!! if you want to relax and have fun go there!!

The hotel, the grounds, pools etc are beautiful but the biggest let down about this hotel is the food. The standard and quality of the food was what you would expect in a 3 star hotel which is a great shame as all the restaurants within the hotel are lovely. Also this hotel no longer has an imports licence so some of the stuff you would have expect are not available. The beach is also disappointing as are the rooms which are in desperate need of updating. However all that aside we had a good holiday and if the food would have been better it might have been a great holiday but in an all inclusive hotel the food quality is very important which is why I would be reluctant to recommend this hotel.

After a terrible holiday at the Sharm Plaza in July my husband and I returned to Sharm at the beginning of October and had a fabulous 2 weeks at the Grand Hotel. The hotel is just as impressive as it looks in the brochure and the staff cannot do enough for you. We had a beautiful room with a sea view right near the Quiet Pool, the room was kept spotlessly clean right through our holiday with clean towels and bedding daily. The staff are so efficent and helpful and will go out of their way to help you. There are so many restaurants and bars in the complex that we didn't manage to use them all but service in every bar and restaurant was impeccable. The Olive restaurant and the Fusion restaurant are well worth visiting and if you like seafood the fish restaurant is well worth paying for. Yes there are extras on the menus that you have to pay for, but this is reflected in the price you pay for your holiday (look at prices for some of the other 5 star hotels in Sharm) . We would recommend this hotel to anyone and will be going back at the beginning of next year. One thing I will say is that if you do go to the Grand Hotel and do find something not right please go see the management team who will put things right for you straight away, don't wait until you return home and just put your comments on Tripadvisor the management want you to have a fabulous time in their hotel but can't change things if you don't give them the opportunity. We didn't need to complain about anything but a couple we met where unhappy with their room a quick chat with the reception and they where moved to a different block and had a lovely holiday. This hotel is a credit to Red Sea Hotels and the Sharm Plaza could learn a lot from the Grand Hotel on how to run a first class hotel

The holiday was amazing: I stay last week whit my friend and i spend a very good time. The restaurants are very nice, the restaurant food was very nice and the staff very polite. Evening enterateinment was very very good.
Special thanks for William the chief animator, big kiss to him!!!!!
I enjoyed a lot and then the sea is beautiful
