I loved this stay: the location is perfect for a peacefull vacation (the hotel is completely isolated) but there is a wonderfull entertainment team at work where everything can be done but doesn't have to be done. They don't push you into anything. The price/quality are very high, you get more for the money.
The room very well furbished with everything you need including decent mattrasses. Very clean hotel in and around the room/pool/everywhere.
The food is very tastfull but sometimes a little too spicy, though there is plenty of choice. Many dishes are being cooked in front of you. or you can choose between 3 a la carte restaurants.
4 huge pools, 1 with waterslids and 2 of them heated, plenty of beds and sunscreens, towelservice free and unlimited changed. Beautifull beach with quite lagoon, again enough beds and sunscreens.
Night entertainment in more than one possibility: live show or live music; open cinema, disco. At night very cold but hotel provides blanckets.
All inclusive very wide, including snacks at the pool or midnight snack at the main restaurant.
Personeel very friendly and warm, they fly higher if you give them some tip. but above all very children friendly/funny.
the only but: you have to be very straight with the sellers for extra activities, they can be very pushy.
Try a cake at Cafe sissy's in the afternoon with wide choice of tea's or coffee.
We spent one week at the Magic Life Kalawy at the beginning of November 2012. This was our fourth time in Egypt and our second visit to this resort (last visit exactly 2 years ago). We usually tend to give new hotels a trial, but in this case we opted again for the Magic Life as „we knew what we had“ and were confident that the hygienic standard would be high (with little kids this was our main concern, as stomach problems are quite common in Egypt – even in 5-star accommodations).
On the positive side:
• Cleanliness of the rooms is still flawless
• Gardens are meticulously trimmed and buildings well maintained
• Friendliness of staff (especially room staff and at the restaurant) is good, although perceived as less remarkable than on our first visit
• Dive school very well organized and good staff. House reef good for snorkeling, however for the experienced diver rather boring
• The remote location - the road next to the beach is not very pleasant, indeed, but that didn’t bother us as the traffic is very light. If you venture out of the resort (which most of the guests don’t) you have a true desert experience!
On the negative side:
• The club seems to have less staff than 2 years ago. This was confirmed by other families we met there. The lack of staff impacted the service at the main restaurants and the pool bars. Sometimes you had to wait a long time before being served or the plates would pile on the table, before someone came to pick them up. Also the kids club: there was only one girl in the „Mungo Club“ (3-6 years) – 2 years ago there had been permanently two, sometimes three girls. At the children’s Tennis there was one trainer for a group of 20 kids – this didn’t make sense and our kids didn’t learn or enjoy it… In my view the management has room for improvement here, unfortunately several (multiple-visit) families stated that they would not come back again.
• The kids club is closed on Sundays, due to day of departure. We found that not appropriate, as there are no real arrival or departure dates. Guests arrived and departed in equal measure every day. So, why not open it 7 days a week?
• Not important, but odd: old televisions, very little choice of TV stations (20 channels to cater for mostly German, Austrian, but also Polish and Belgian guests) with poor image quality
• Waste separation is a hoax – probably to give the environmental-minded guests a good feeling. I have seen the waste being thrown together in on big waste box. I am not sure if the concept of separating the waste in “paper”, “plastic” and other/organic really exists in Egypt
Insider tips:
(a) the Mountain bike trip to the „Dead city“ is great. The 45Km through the desert brings you to the ghost city of „Umm Huweitat“, a former mining city abandoned 25 years ago. An unusual place that would be a great movie setting
(b) for the arduous „runner“ – it is possible to go jogging outside the resort (although the reception staff would not recommend it). You have to give your room number, when you leave the resort. If you cross the two streets you can easily run inland following the numerous ‘wadis’. There are even several trails (probably for the horseback riding tours) leading to small hills where you have excellent 360° lookouts
(c) Snorkeling at the house reef is best in the early morning hours as the sun “illuminates” the reef from the east. In the afternoon, snorkeling is still ok, but much less colorful.
Conclusion: we would probably not come back a third time as we see a slightly negative trend. But to be fair: it is – for Egyptian standards – still a good resort, well suited for kids and affordable. Therefore we still rate 4 out of 5 points
After see others resort un Red Sea i will go to return for the third time to this Resort. Can´t found better relation price quality.
Great hotel in Safaga, large rooms with massive comfy beds and balconies with fantastic sea views. Excellent private beach with lots of beds, stylish infinity pool. Good bars in which to watch the sunset, and the restaurants in the hotel are the best in town. Very friendly and helpful staff too. Thoroughly recommend.

As we are a very experienced sophisticated travelers and have been almost everywhere from USA to CHINA to Maurituies islands. I wanted to book a quality vacation to my family without leaving the country. We have been to many many all inclusive clubs and hotels in Egypt ( mostly crab level of all inclusive system), and after spending one week in magic life kalawi I can assure you. That you will be fulfilled in everyday.
First, staff are very well chosen and very well trained, attentative, prompt, inviting, and t he most important in egypt, if they don't know something, they ask and come back with the right answer in a minute. No guessing. From beach bar staff to house keeping and restaurant We could not find a major mistake not even a light one. Thumb up for the trainers at kalawi club.
2- rooms are generously large and accommodates 4 people comfortably, A/C and equipment are in excellent shape. Cleaned everyday properly.
3- food selections great, wide, and overwhelming, you have different thyme every night, my only comment here is that if you are a meat lover like me, you would not be very satisfied. Although a lot of meat is served but always shredded and sautéed in some sauce. No BBQ during my stay even in the Egyptian night, if you are a seafood lover, you will be delighted. Otherwise all is ok.
4- beach is like no other in Egypt, the club has a natural lake that is great for every activity from swimming to wind surfing. I never saw such a beautiful beach in hurgada or sharm el sheikh like this one. Superb.
5- entairtaiment : big thumb up, we were 15 guests in total with 9 kids between 9 years and 17 years, all of them were very entertained in everyway, there were days that I didn't meet the kids until late at night as they are jumping from activity to another. Animation team are great, Nordic walks are never to be missed, we did it literally everyday during our stay. However this was our first time to do it in our lives, even our lazy ladies joint us after the first day. Many thanks to our Brazilian guide Marcelo. They have an international level of shows every night and new years eve were superb with tons of champagne and firework and live band ( I think from UK)?
5- my negative comments are as follow: (asked my family and group to list an area for improvements in this hotel, but sorry we couldn't come with anything) the hotel is more than great, and would difinitly come again many times.
P.S I met guests in this club who came almost as much as 11 times to the same club!!!!, I would do this for sure.
Will check out by jan 3rd as we are still staying.
