“Another great holiday at makadi palace”
Reviewed July 27, 2013

We last stayed at the Makadi Palace in May 2013 and have just booked to return again at the end of September . After many visits to the Makadi, we still love the place. We first went to the Makadi to experience the snorkelling ,which is amazing. However we now feel part of the Makadi family and can't wait to return to see all the friends we have made over the years.
Remember every member of staff are there to do they're best for you.
The grounds around the complex, are amazing, with well planed planting, even in the evening the low key lighting is superb.
The pools are huge and spotlessly clean.
The rooms are spacious and clean, try to get a high room with a balcony to see the hotel grounds in the day and the setting sun and low key lighting in the evening.
There is a great choice of restaurants,
We love the Tai restaurant , with service provided by AMR , IBRAHIM and Mr SMILEY,
They really try to make your holiday memorable by going the extra mile of service. They are open also for lunch, well worth a visit.
Another favourite restaurant of ours is the Botanical Garden, this is an evening only restaurant , it's hard to believe that it's all inclusive. There are a few dishes that have a surcharge , but in my opinion it's well worth it . And again the staff here are so friendly.
The Sunset bar is another great place for lunch, with burgers and chips on the menu as well as fish, hot dogs etc and do I need to say it, the staff are friendly.
We were introduced to mr Mohamed Elsayed he is assistant food and beverage manager, and was really interested in any feed back to further improve the food and service.
There is also the Discovery restaurant , where you can dine overlooking the pool.this restaurant has live cooking stations, and the seafood night is not to be missed.
There is also a good selections of buffet restaurants, for those that like to help themselves.
After dinner ,why not relax and have fun at the street party, outside the joker bar, organised by MR SERGE the party animal.and music from DJ Mario to entertaining all age groups.
I would like to mention, that if for any reason you may encounter a problem ,speak to Amanda and her team at customer relations,or the friendly staff at reception.I personally would like to thank mr Hattam, who has gone beyond the call of duty to look after us,from our very first visit to present.and our new friend mr Bedo Lalla .A special thank you to mr John Orsino, G.M. who does a superb job of pulling it all together , and creating a first class hotel that I want to return to again and again.

Room Tip: Aim high for great views.

The location is fantastic, a real swimmers and snorkellers dream, and Scuba is available at extra cost, the crystal clear Red Sea means it is like swimming in your own giant aquarium. Some parts of the hotel itself were looking a little tired and need some TLC but overall it was a really good experience with all the waiters and staff being really helpful. However, for an all expenses fully inclusive holiday, there were lots of extra expenses; certain dishes were available only at extra cost as were certain drinks, when drinks were brought to the poolside they are in clear cups the same size as you get from a hot drinks vending machine, and the glasses from bars are only small. There was a Bar-b-Que every Weds on the beach and this cost and extra 20 Euro per head, plus parties etc which cost extra. Also there is a dress code for evening meal which wasnt enforced, so even though I was in shoes, trousers and shirt every evening I was in a minority, everyone else seemed to wear what they wore during the day, and at lunchtime seeing certain nationalities queuing and eating in their speedos was quite off-putting, as well as the practice of reserving sun beds (another rule which was not enforced). All in all it was a good holiday let down by a few gripes, perhaps not a 5 Star hotel, more like a 4 on a good day, but totally enjoyable non the less!!!

We have ust returned from 10 nights at the Makadi Palace, staff were excellent especially like to mention Mohamed at reception nothing was ever to much, Amanda at customer relations and Mohamed at the botanical restaurant.
Set in beautiful grounds with an amazing swimming pool surrounded by numerous bars and restaurants ypou cannot go wrong.

We were in room number 3438 which overlooked the main pool
Be advised though you may need to get up early if you wish to get a good sunbed ..... sunbeds cannot be reserved according to the rules but as always you will find our german friends will get up at silly oclock and reserve the best ones with their towels.......

If you are thinking of the palace please ask reception about the romantic meal for two set up high on a balcony overlooking the resort it was awesome and the food was amazing

Thank you to everyone that made our holiday so special at the makadi palace
Cant wait to return

We booked to go to the Grand Makadi on recommendation of neighbours, our tour operators were red sea (what a professional company). When we arrived we were asked if we minded staying at the Makadi palace and they showed us a room. We prefer a first floor so declined and they were very helpful and found a higher room, we had booked a junior suite anyway so it was just a matter of changing hotel but also with the added bonus of being able to use all the facilities of both hotels.

The staff are very friendly, the hotel is clean and I must stay we were very happy with the hotel.

Food is very good and we are definitely scheduling to go back later in the year.

There are a few niggles but as I said we will be going back, the niggles are: the bell boys and cleaners are always pushing for tips when really they are just doing their job, nothing more or nothing less. I like to give a tip when I feel I want to and not because they have changed my towels, we even got woken at siesta time (the room had been cleaned and the fresh towels had been put in the room so there was no need to comeback) asking were we happy with our towels, a bit scary when naked I can tell you. However the waiters that went out their way i.e got you your drinks without asking and collected your omeletes etc from the chef these you wanted to tip and felt like tipping. The thing to remember is that if everyone tips them a £1 a day then they are on a lot more than us. Second niggle is in the melange, the birds are flying inside the restaurant and landing on the bread and cakes and eating the food we are then in turn eating this food, yuk. Third niggle is the India restaurant in the mall, we booked sat down and when looking at the menu you had to pay for 80% of the menu about 20% was All inclusive, don't get me wrong but I don't see why you should pay for poppadums, I know its not much money but the principal is there.

We did love staying here, are totally relaxed and were very impressed with both transfers to and from the resort. Cant wait to go back

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review of Makadi Palace.
We are so happy that you had a fab time even though you were moved hotel.
We are in constantly trying new ideas regarding melange as we try to be animal friendly and have build bird cages out side the restaurant to deter the birds entering.
We do take all comments seriously and strive to improve.

Thank you once again and we look forward to your next visit.

Best Regards

Me and my partner stayed here from the 12th July to the 19th July! We had a fantastic time we stayed in a junior suite which was a good size and very well maintained! I cannot fault the staff they were very helpful and went out of their way to make sure we received the best service and our needs were met. The food was nice and there was always a good selection and the snack bar during the day was another favourite of ours! There wasn't really anything we could fault about our holiday apart from the repetitive music they played all day every day around the pool but that's literally it! We would definitely come back :)

Stayed at makadi palace in may the hotel is beautiful we found the staff friendly and had an invitation to the managers dinner which was a lovely way to find out more about the hotel and the people We love the restaurants particularly the Thai but an evening at the Italian was an education! we have had better microwave dinners and felt this let it down which was a shame my main gripe would be the lighting I love mood lighting but you could hardly see who was sat at the tables when you went past. But overall I would recommend this hotel and loved the moorish style and attention to detail
