THE BAD THINGS

Stayed here for 2 weeks.
Not a 5 star hotel as advertised by Thomas Cook
Very dated and old complex in need of major renovations
Small, dull accommodation
Sparrows live in the main restaurant, swooping down to pick up food at any opportunity and dropping faeces all over.( we were told that this had been a problem for the last 10 years)AND IF THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH to turn your stomach
Senior front office manager Mr H.L. was seen leaving the gents toilet without WASHING his hands!!!!, an educated man we assume?? are the kitchen staff taught about basic food hygiene??
Never once did we see pool staff hose down the pool sides, only rub the odd areas with an old dirty rag on the end of a stick.
Your hounded by the shop staff working on site.
All in all NOT value for money.

THE GOOD THINGS ARE

The A La Carte restaurants are good, the foods not always hot, but beggars cant be choosers.
The beach was clean.
Moustafa Hamdy and the reception team were VERY helpful at all times and very polite.
Osama and his animation team were always happy, professional and helpful. And i must mention Boca,a real asset to the team.

Room Tip: Pray, no idea they all are a bit of a walk

The rooms are very spacious and kept very clean, the hotel itself is also very clean including the grounds. I was surprised to see that if any of the managers saw a piece of paper or any kind of rubbish on the floor they would bend down and pick it up, that would not happen here!! the food was very varied & includes 7 al a carte restaurants of which we tried 6, all was of the highest standard, If you don't want al a carte there is numerous other places to eat including the main restaurant & bbq. The hotel grounds are located right next to the beach & the awesome Red Sea which is excellent if you like snorkelling or diving, There is enough shops on the complex for your needs including a pharmacy. The staff especially the animation team are very friendly & can not do enough to help you and make you feel very welcome. They are very concerned that you are having a great time and if there is anything that they can do to improve it. Also the reception are very welcoming. There is plenty of entertainment and sports events going on at different times of the day, including Archery, Belly Dancing & Pool games. The pools are kept very clean and some are heated in the colder months. There is plenty of sunbeds around the pools and also on the beach, we never had trouble finding one.Nice big clean rooms with balcony. In the rooms there is a t.v, mini bar (stocked daily) A/C free mini safe & telephone... I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone & anyone who has complained about this complex, have obviously got their noses in the air!!!

My family and I visited the Sunrise Royal Makadi this February to have a break from the cold English weather, On the way to the hotel our Thomas Cook rep Khalid was very welcoming and informative about everything we needed to know about our stay.
The hotel was very clean; as soon as a spillage was made someone was there to clean it up, our bedding and towels were changed everyday and the staff all work really hard, everything was spotless.

The management team were excellent and all staff from the gardeners, chefs, cleaners and waiters were very lovely.
The animation team Kano, Marley, Kastello, Mando, Zidan, Mido, Mamado and John (and everyone else but can't remember everyone's names) were very friendly and nice, they did lots of activities throughout the day and night to keep everyone amused and to get everyone involved, their shows in the evening were very good and funny also.

We booked to go quad biking in the desert whilst in the hotel and it was great fun we also saw a baby shark in the sea on one of our stops which was really cool, snorkeling was also amazing which we booked with the red sea star; just on the hotels private beach area in which we saw a manta ray, a turtle and lots of little jelly fish which wasn't poisonous as I held one after having a panic, would definitely recommend doing these activities if staying at the hotel.

The food in the hotel was average it could have been a lot better, however the catering staff did freshly make omelettes and pasta as requested. Overall the hotel is brilliant and I would definitely go back.

Stayed here for a week in January and it is a lovely place. It is a huge resort, our room was about 10 minutes away from the lobby and you can spend a good half hour walking around the whole place to find all the pools and restaurants. The room itself was really good, a mini fridge which had free bottles of pepsi, 7up and fanta inside and is topped up once a week and the room in general was very clean and nicely decorated and the room cleaners were great.

There are 7 or 8 restaurants that you can book into every night and each one has it's own style of food such as Mexican, Asian, Italian etc. The food in these restaurants was really good and we preferred to eat at them every night instead of going to the main restaurant.

The animation team were great too, they were friendly and hosted great shows and other entertainment in the night time (Kastella, Mido and Marley did a good job at keeping everyone entertained). The DJ (Soudany) and bar staff in the disco were friendly and good fun, we ended up in the there everynight till it closed at 3am.

One of the best things about the hotel is that the all inclusive drinks are available till 6am every night and only stop from 6am - 10am each morning. All the waiters and staff in general were excellent, the waiter in the cocktail/lobby bar (Mostafa habeby) was a cool dude and he always made sure to top up our drinks every night!

There is a private beach 10 minutes from the lobby and it was beautiful. There are 8 pools but only 1 was heated (as it was January). Overall we had a lovely holiday and it is a great hotel and we look forward to returning to Sunrise Royal Makadi one day :)

Thanks to all the staff for making our holiday one to remember!

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Sunrise Royal Makadi Resort on 5th Feb 2013. Our first visit to Egypt. Although this may not be a true 5* hotel. We couldn't fault it.
The rooms were clean and well presented(we were in the recently refurbished 38 Block) the staff were FANTASTIC, they respected the guest and nothing was to much trouble, no matter what you asked of them.
The Hotel is spread over a large area with fantastic gardens and 5 pools, one with slides fantastic if you have kids and lots of beds. The hotel takes great pride in it's appearance, and you will see the staff continually cleaning around the resort. We even witnessed them cleaning the lamp posts at one point. There are 7 restaurants ranging from a steak house, Asian, Mediterranean, Italian. the main buffet restaurant served a good variety of exceptionally good food which rivaled the other restaurants. The hotel has it's own private section of beech with plenty of beds all with parasols. The hotel even provides complimentary beech towels which can be exchanged throughout the day for fresh ones. All in all a fantastic hotel, We would defiantly recommend this one.

Room Tip: We stayed in block 38 which is outside reception and very close to the breakfast room. it also has a...

Sad to be home after a wonderful holiday again at the SRM.
We emailed the hotel in advance to request a taxi transfer , we were worried us our plane arrived one hour late, but they were still waiting there for us.
As a returning guest we had tea and coffee in our room, wine and fresh fruit. Stayed in block 14 which was perfect as central to everything.
I really cannot fault this hotel, staff our friendly and helpful, you do not have to tip to get good service, most of the staff just like to make conversation.
Food in the al a cartes we used were excellent, Khalid in the asian restaurant always remembers us when we return to the resort, always works so hard and never moans when under pressure.
Our favourite hideaway is the adult only pool, thanks to EL Gendy for bringing our drinks to us,.
Thanks to all the staff that made our holiday just as special as last year.
Would recommend this hotel as there is something for everybody, ignore the negative reviews.
