We have recently returned (March) from a two week holiday at this hotel one of the best hotels weve stayed in. The hotel complex covers a very large area with plenty of swimming pools as well as a beach if you like sand and surf., Our room was a family room and was kept spotless by our cleaner. Towels and toiletries replaced daily and fridge was restocked. Easy to book the 7 Al a Carte restaurants with the touch screen computers in the lobby. We ate in these twice the food and service was exellent. We ate at the Around the World for breakfast and lunch not as busy as the main buffet. Must mention Mohamed the chef who looked after us, all of the waiters were fantastic. For lunch you could also eat at the outdoor eating area having a choice of BBQ food or fresh pizza's made to your choice. Premium spirits served in the lobby bars and again service was exellent. The entertainment was good. Overall a very clean hotel and grounds. The hotel staff were very happy, friendly and would do anything for you. Have already recommended this hotel to our family and friends can't wait to book again. Joanne

Room Tip: take a jacket as it is chilly morning and night this time of year.

Hi!
We've been to Egypt once before and then we travelled around a lot but now we decided to run away from the boring weather at home and only enjoy the sun, the sea and the snorkeling.

Sunrise Royal Makadi is a very nice hotel. Fresch, nice service, (with one or two individuel exceptions) and good food. Even if the quality differs a lot. The various restaurants were a really nice Al-inclusiveconcept. We particularly liked the Italian, the Asian and the meatrestaurant (T.bone).You have to preorder the restaurants in the lobby.
Mainrestaurant was noicy and not as fun. At Pergola bar by the largest poolarea, they served burgers, pizza and icecream around lunchtime. Best pizza I've ever eaten in Egypt ...
By the pool the vendors were running around. The hotel is a small place, if you show interest the will keep coming back until you've bought anything of them. If you nicely say no thanks and doesen't show interest they soon will recognize you and stop bother.

BUT there aren't any coralreef by this hotels beach. (as said in our travelcompanys catalogue). Severel of the hotels nearby such as Fort Arabesque or Makadi palace have large beautiful coralreefs but not here. We walked to the neighbourhotels beach and snorkeled by their reef. Really nice! According to our travelcompany the neighbourhotel could have charged us with 10 euro/person/day, but they didn't. We went to a snorkelingtrip also, wich was very nice (boattrip, egyptian food, good company) but the reefs weren't any better than the ones by the neighbourhotel.

We had ordered two doubles since the familyroom was sold out according to our travellingcompany. As we got there we were offered to change to a familyroom and it was very wellplaned, even if the childrens sleepingroom lacked window. The beds and cusions were rather hard. Nice interior decor! A little responsive though.
The asking for tip were unusual and only as vauge hints.

If you want to get photos from "United photos" by the hotel, don't wait to long or you won't get your photos before you leave. The photos were otherwise nice and good value for your money. If you have special wishes of the look of your photos you have to be VERY CLEAR about that or they will do as usual ...

The holiday it self was very relaxing.
The rooms were not upto 5* standard but was very clean, our room only had 1 wardobe which isnt big enough for to people.
As we travelled with Thomascook we got all restaurents free this included Italian-great service, Steak House-Great service Al a carte-very poor service even the small around the world restaurent by the time we got served drinks we had finished our food and it wasnt even busy.
The beach was clean plenty of things to do scub diving, jet ski, banana boat. Plenty of sunbeds and clean towels everyday.

The entertainment team were great very helpfull Culrey Mido, Joe and Jamaica . The entertainment was great also.

Myself (25) and my other half (27) stayed in this hotel 27th March - 6th April.

The flight with Thomas Cook was extremely smooth - no problems at all and we arrived ahead of schedule both in and outbound.

We were impressed with our room - it was family size with an absolutely enormous bed! Another couple we met were quite disappointed though as they were given a small room with two single beds so it's worth requesting a big room prior to arrival. We did it through our travel agent.

We arrived late the first evening so visited the buffet restaurant for dinner. When you go in - its a bit smelly! this put me off straight away..... its also full of Russian's who love nothing more than pushing their way into a queue and piling their plates up sky high only to leave half of it. There also seems to be an enormous population of sparrows in the hotel - be careful as they are really tame and will land on your plate if your not careful! we spotted a lot of guests actually feeding them on the tables which i thought was quite disgusting. Needless to say, we only ate here once!

We went with Thomas Cook so thankfully all the a la cartes were free. The Asian and the Steak House are the best. The others were okay. The staff were very attentive - as soon as the wine glass was empty it was full again!

The drinks in the hotel are rather poor. The wine all tastes watered down and the cocktails are not worth having (unless you ask MOhammed in the Shisha bar to make you one!)

We noticed a lot of things in the hotel complex which needed attention - such as broken tiles, broken grills around the pool (i witnessed at least 3 children nearlly slice their feet open on them) so please if you are taking young children be very careful. The entrance to the kids pool is also extremely slippery but there are warning signs. The whole complex looks like it needs a damn good clean.

It seems to be the trend in Egypt but when you come into the hotel you will notice heaps of rubbish laying around - not the best first impression.

Ladies - if you have blonde hair beware! i got leered at continuously which got quite frustrating and rather pee'd my boyfriend off! so i stopped making eye contact with any of the waiters.

Tip - when you ask for your towels, also ask for a red flag. If not you will get salesmen pestering you constantly and there is nothing worse when all you want is a bit of peace and quiet.

The beach is okay, man made in parts and rather busy. Its also littered with old plastic cups and rubbish from people who couldn't care less about clearing up after themselves! The house reef is non existent so if you enjoy snorkelling go next door to fort arabesque.

So overall, distinctly average. We paid slightly more for a really outstanding hotel (royal grand azure - sharm) last year so that was our comparison. Standards aren't high enough for what is advertised as a 5 star hotel.

We travel on several holidays a year but when we return to SRM its like returning to a very comfortable and friendly hotel. Mr Hashim guest relations and Barbara who answers the e-mail requests are dedicated to make our stay as comfortable as possible. We are 6 adults with no children and we sit at the V.I.P pool, a pool for adults only (families have 4 other large pools to use) Bassan the Bar Man looked after us what a gentleman. Mohammed we have known since our 1st visit to the hotel and he keeps that area immaculate again a very hard worker who has become a friend to all of us. As reported by so many the al a cartes are of high standard. Our favourite the Italian, Sayeed who is over the restaurant always has a smile and Khalid, Mohammed, Sayeed, make us so welcome and the food is in our opinion very good, the Asian comes a close 2nd and then the mediterranean Mexican and the fish, no complaints with any. Sad to say we didnt do the Steak House or the Bedouin this time as it was middle March and we found the evenings too cold to sit outside!! although we have heard that they intend to enclose the steak house, hope so. We like to play Boccio in the day and poor Midoooooo (very curly hair) tried sooo hard to get people to play, he always played in one of our teams so no rest for him, Mr Billy will be back in September Mido so be ready. We didnt watch the shows but used the very spacious lobby bar. One thing about this hotel, the staff WANT to serve you, they were around offering drinks all the time even when the Hotel was packed, I think a lot of the Russians were waiting to go home. All areas kept spotlessly clean including our room Block 14 bedding changed very regularly lovely fluffy towels( definate improvement on last time) They have started renovating the rooms, I believe block 18 is work in progress. For the amount of money we pay we get what it says on the packet, excellant service, good food, good hot weather, isnt that what holidays are all about, See everybody September. Thank you all. 5 stars given for all the above reasons

Room Tip: block 10 family pool. Block 14 15 16 near lobby.
