Tia Heights Makadi Bay
Ranked #23 of 30 Hotels in Makadi Bay

This hotel is huge and has a nice location.
In all inclusive you have food and drinks, beach towels, indoor pool and fitness gym and 1 entry in the aquapark in front of hotel.
But when you will reserve the room an pay +50 euros/person for a room with direct seaview you will not have it. You can see the sea behind the palmas if you are lucky and thats all.We had all inclusive but the food in the main restaurant is not so good. Almost every vegetable and meat is just mixed in some sort of goulash with sauce. Not only grilled vegetable or meat. Not even the good choice of bread or baguettes. If you want to have something not sweet for breakfast the best choice is the fresh pita made by an old woman. For a lunch I strongly recommand you the La Caravane restaurant on the beach where you have french fries and ketchup and good kari rice and fish and another meat sometimes...Anyway the arabic people in this hotel are prefered and will always have something that you even cant ask the cook(even if you point finger on it, he will offer you only the things of buffet not the things behind his back:)There are also a lot of russian people who will just drink all day and don t speak another language.
On the beach you will exchange two cards from reception by the two towels but be careful and don t leave towels during the lunch on the beach. The hotel guys will take the seats and also the towels:)
The beach is really nice, with sand and if you want to see some little coral you can just go more far to the boats on the right. Please be careful in the water, we saw also the raya not so far from the beach but the water is really clean so you will see it.
On the beach you can borrow electric bicycles but you can not go with them by the beach promenade(the guy will tell you everything you want but it s not true:) so it is giid when you want to go see the two main streets of makadi and have a look on restaurants and shops.
On the beach they will offer you henna tattoo, beauty salon and masages with spa, quad safari (attention there are 3: 2 hours, safari for families with camel and horse ride and egyptian dance and belly dance and terarium and than super safari when you go longer by quand to see beduins and sunset), boat trips with snorkle or dive(if you want to see the dolhpins I recommand you to go to Dolphin world or Dolphin House). For safari I recommend you the Alex Safari based in El Gouna(if you contact him by internet you can agree that they will take you from Makadi).
The cleaning service was really perfect. In the rooms you just have to accept that your arabic neighbours will turn on their music really loud and their children will play futball inside the hotel corridors.
For the shops in Makadi Bay I can recommand one little shop, when you are face to face to hotel Saraya you go to the right up the street and than to the left direction to all little shops (another direction than Soukh Makadi) and the first little shop with a nice guy in the optic glasses named Mohamoud Nor is the best for you. You will not have to negotiate a lot the price and he will give you the best prices of all Makadi. He will also advice you about Alex Safari.
The shops in Hotel are not the good ones, for the wooden statues just avoid the guy with no hair, he is really angry if you don t buy his expensive things. For scarfs (arafat and another) you will buy the best in the airport in the shops but only on the way back to home:)

If you are travelling with FTI Reisen their delegate will ignore your meeting and you all the time,he will not come to hotel and when you will try to call to the agency they are not speaking any other language than arabic so the receptionist will have to translate and is not so nice with this.

The personel of hotel in restaurants and on the beach is really nice, not the personel on the reception. They will not give you the information about all inclusive, hotel or anything: you have to ask and even than its goings really hard.

The whole Makadi bay is good for the people who like to stay in Resort, for us it was enough for 7 days but it should be nice in another hotel.
In january the weather is nice, you can sunbath and swim until 16:00, than you have cold a little bit. In the evenings it s good to have not only T shirt and shorts..

Room Tip: Dont pay extra costs for seaview it s not worthy! You will not have the real direct seaview just the...

We were very excited to try out this hotel but it is not located directly on Hurghada beach. This is quite a huge property with more than a thousand rooms, many dining options but all-inclusive is only available at one or two outlets. Some rooms have great views overlooking the swimming pool and the Red Sea. There is also another children friendly pool with water slides. The beach is nice with lots of sun chairs and we had massages by the beach. Strolling on the beach is a nice and pleasant experience. There is a dive and activity centre, shops and a pharmacy in the compound. Desert safari can also be arranged at the tour counter. There is also a regular shuttle bus that takes guests into Hurghada town for some quick shopping. I love this resort with the space and all the amenities on site. However, internet can be costly. Also, the location is quite isolated but good if you are just keen to stay within the resort most of the time.

Unfortunately due to the crisis in Cairo the hotel decided to limit some services.

The hotel is about 15-30 mins from Hurghada airport. And be warned - get your Egyptian visa from the "FX" counter which is located on the left handside. You will get distracted from the reps with the name billboards, like I did, but don't be fooled as if you go to the rep stall you will pay more for the visa between GBP13.00 & 15.00 whereas at the "FX" counter it's GBP10.00.

It's also manic when you exit the airport entrance looking for your coach/mini-bus so make sure you remember the rep's face (the one who tries to get to you pay more for the Egyptian visa at arrivals) as he will eventually emerge outside to guide you to the the coach/mnibus.

The hotel complex is big so very much a family resort with beach and Aqua Park. The beach size itself is average and sits next to a jetty. There is a small coral by the top end of the jetty and there are some fishes so good for snorkelling. The animation team are great, in fact, one of the better ones I've seen in Sharm & Hurghada. The team go out their way to get the guests involved so full marks to the animation team. There's a large lagoon pool but was unused as it was unheated...the beach was warmer! There's an indoor pool and gym.

The Aqua Park has some good water slides and offers free food for hotel guests.

We were given a Dune room which was close by to the main building however the front desk and housekeeping didn't communicate as we had to extend our stay so one of the days our rooms weren't cleaned. Again, the housekeeping service did a good job cleaning our rooms. Also you may find if you have multiple pass keys that it deactivates on a daily basis. The patio doors in one of the rooms didn't lock.

The bulk of the guests were mainly Russians as the hotel staff were pretty fluent in Russian than English and this reflects the food. And, yes, there are queue jumpers but just as well the hotel wasn't full!! There is a smaller restaurant above the Aladdin (the main restaurant) which is much quieter and the service is great but food is limited so best to take food from main to upstairs. Bottles of water were plentiful. By the beach, the cafe opens from 10.00am and lunch served at 1.00pm.

Ice cream and afternoon cakes from 2pm-4pm.

We stayed over the Christmas period and the Xmas Eve dinner (which was included in the price)was good esp the decor. Lack of entertainment though although the animation team (yet again) got the guests to dance (ballroom) on the stage floor.

There is a nice beach or paved walk when exiting out on the left hand side of the hotel (next door is Sunrise hotel, etc) there are a no of hotels on this strip.

When you depart Hurghada - at the airport there are a no of restaurants e.g, Burger King, pizza, cafe, a small bazzar (much bigger and better than Sharm). Toilets are free after immigration ("Tourist toilets").

Overall, a pleasant stay and can't fault the service but can image if it was full house...

Room Tip: The dune room was big: 2 x sofas, 3 x single beds, patio outside with garden, close to the indoor po...

We found all the staff at the hotel friendly and welcoming. Not many english or german travellers when we visited in December but lots of ukrainian, russian and armenians in the hotel who got a little boisterous in the evenings. Luckily we had a separate dining room, which was very civilised, and the chef couldn't do enough for us even down to cooking special meals. The complex is huge but becuase there were not so many visitors it didn't feel overcrowded at all. We asked for a room with a view of the sea and were given a 'Dune Room' which was huge - there were three beds in the room and a large balcony. The resort itself is somewhat quieter than Hurghada, and a walk along the beach in either direction was very good exercise and afforded lovely views. There are some stunning hotels in the resort. The water was crystal clear and a walk out on one of the hotel jetties meant you could easily see different types of fish.

Room Tip: Dune rooms are on the hill behind the hotel looking out to sea and seem to be larger. As the name s...

I was a bit scared by some of the reports but really, whilst it is not a fantastic hotel it was fine.

Check in was fine and quick, bit if a hair raiser to the room with 5 of us in a TUK TUK. Not overly bothered but I should imagine it would scare the crap out of some!

Superior room was massive and generally OK. Quite tired in some areas, lots of cracked floor tiles, shower curtain stained, mould round the bath and on tiles, wall fan in bathroom hanging out. Really a lot of it is attention to detail and poor workmanship when repairs are done. Over-painting on to window and door surrounds, banister painting has put paint on walls or wall paint on banister, sealant round bath and mirrors poorly applied or on top of old sealant, toiled pan had been replaced but cement/grout was u mentioned the issues with the room to reception and was offered another room which had been recently refurbished. It was smaller and a bit near the disco however it had also got some glaring errors which should be picked up on daily inspection and I also noted some poor workmanship in the makeover.

Grounds on the whole well kept though evidence of poor maintenance again in some areas.

Pool seemed very clean.

Restaurant. Again looking tired and tatty in some areas. Food on the buffet was plentiful and as buffets go pretty good with some nice varieties.

The pay to go to restaurants were poor. Especially the fish one. The starter on the set menu was not as described by a long chalk and the seafood soup was with crabsticks which are really Crab Flavour Sticks and generally have nothing to do with crabs. How any self respecting restaurant can use them I do not know. The Italian was not too bad. These three restaurants were the only ones open apart from another buffet restaurant which was restricted to certain tour operators, mainly European, if you get my drift.

The bar service was good, indeed the staff generally were good, one waitress Saffa deserves special note she was excellent.

We came to this hotel about three years ago and absolutely loved it - if you have never been to Egypt and your expecting their 5 star hotels to be like ours then you may be a little disappointed.
The food is varied and plentiful and Noah always has a smile and time to chat as you walk in, with a little section of the normal nuggets and chips etc for the kids, Mahmood absolutely love the English and will go and cook you something special if there's nothing you like in the buffet.
Waggie in the lobby has always got time and will help with absolutely anything you wish.
Monsoor the shisha guy is "lovely jubbly" and always happy to help, and Ragab the pool and towel guy can't do enough, bringing the towels for you and flowers too.

We was lucky enough to meet up with the new Vice President of the complex Karim (who's mother and father own it) Karim went out of his way to make us feel welcome and was happy to come and sit down and have a chat and make sure we was happy with everything, he has only been in charge a few months but is making some big changes and seems to be taking a lot of notice of any niggles his guests have, I think he is initiating returbs throughout.

The animation team are great too and they put there all in to the shows and performances and the activities throughout the day and Ama in the pool bar in the afternoon is a very nice guy.

Unfortunately for the English there are a lot of Russians here but to be honest that never really bothered us and we've made some good English friends that we have met here on our last two visits ( I think it depends on whether YOU are willing to talk to anyone and I am ).

WE LOVE IT HERE and we're going back in February with the kids

Room Tip: The lagoon rooms are great

The food wasn't good & the rooms were very small. Also you have only two coupons @ the aqua park for meals while my reservation was on all inclusive bases so you have to leave the aqua park to have your launch then come back to the aqua park.
